I set up my router and it does not get a WAN IP.The PPPoE user/pw ist 100% correct but in the "status field" it always says: "connecting" and i can't get an IP.The router is connected with the modem via RJ45 cabel that was in the box.My PC has no problem getting to the internet with direct modem communication (pppoe).

I recently bought a wireless N router (TL-WR841ND). I could connect my laptop to internet using the router but the problem is whenever I try to connect my phone to the wireless network, it goes on and off. It'll be on for a few minutes and then it is off and so on. By the way, the phone says you're still connected to the router but actually there is no real internet connection. But anyway, my laptop is connected to internet anyways!

I recently bought a wireless N router (TL-WR841ND). I use this router to replace the FO rooter that my ISP provides with the service as it's too limited (no NAT name translation, closes NAT, no uPnP etc...)
So the WR841ND acts as my main router, DHCP server, WiFi AP for all my network. My problem is that once in a while ( every 1 or 2 days) the wireless loses functionality, I still can see it from my devices, but can't connect, even fixing the IP (apparently not a DHCP issue then). The only way to fix this is to shut down the router 10 sec and restart it.
This brings another issue, I have another router (WR741) in WDS dispatching the signal to another part of the house to wired devices (Xbox , wd tv live hub) and it loses the WDS link, again the only way for this router to recover it is to restart it which is annoying.

I am trying to install a HP officejet 6700 all-in-one wireless printer on my home network. I can see the MAC and static IP addresses in the ARP list but fail to connect to it via my laptop. I have disabled the Norton Internet Security smart firewall and the windows firewall and still fail to connect. I have spent 2 four hour chat sessions with HP and they tell me it is my router. They had me change the channel to 6 from 5 and 11g-only from the 11gb-mixed and it still does not connect. They also had me do a firmware upgrade but the Printer was up to date.

Yesterday I bought this router to extend my wifi signar from my cable router. Now I know that it is possible using the WR841ND as an wifi extender using third-party firmwares but what I like to know is if there is any way to make the router work like that but using the original firmware. I followed a guide that explained how to do it but the only thing I can do is extend the wireless signal without the internet acess.

I followed TP-Link's guide to set up a WDS connection between my two brand new WR841ND router. It theoreticaly "works", but the network is extremly slow. Copying a ~100 Mb sized file to another computer on the other side takes more than 10 minutes or more, I don't know exactly, because I shut down the process after 10 min. I pinged the "slave" router with 200 packets, and I realized that every third, fourth and fifth packet has more than 500 ms time. The minimum is 4 ms, the longest was 566 ms.

I've bought a TL-WD841ND and was using it normally.
After I arrived from a trip, the internet speed by wireless and by cable is only 0,5~0,7 Mbps...
My internet connection is 10 Mbps, and if I plug direct on the modem, there comes the real speed (9,7 Mbps), but connecting by the router, the speed is 1/20 of what should be. Before my travel i was using it normal, and no one has changed any configuration.
So i've updated to the last firmware avaliable on the website. So i've rebooted it and the "configuration" LED keeps flashing...
I would like to know if this led flashing is normal: (here is a video that i've done: [URL] and what could be happening. ps: connecting by cable, the internet speed is also the same (even after the factory settings reset)...

hardware version is WR841N v8.wireless works just fine. i use it for my smartphone and an old laptop. i use ethernet cable to connect to main computer where all is ok until i start using my bit torrent client. as soon as i build up traffic above 1MB the ethernet portion of the router freezes and needs a reboot. when frozen, wireless is still working and i still have access on the lan to the router via my browser. i got this router so i could have wifi for my phone. my old router (asus rx3041) worked just fine and i accessed my isp at the maximum speeds it would allow on a 60 gigabit connection.

I would like to:
use the TL-WR541G for my children wireless laptop, wireless ipad and wireless iphones.
I can turn this unit off at a specific time each evening as I wish.
The WR841ND is used for my wireless laptop, wired iMac, wired Roku stream player and wired Voip adapter.
I tried a few things but really do not know what I am doing and I cannot get both wireless routers to access the internet.
What I tried so far:
Cable modem ethernet out to the input on the WR841ND router. took one of the four hardwire outputs from the WR841ND and ran into the input on the WR541G I powered on the cable modem....it booted... i then powered each router up and waited for each to boot. I launched web browser and navigated to : http://192.168.0.1/ this allowed me to setup the WR841ND router.

How do I set up the second router? I tried to disable the DHCP server on router 2 (WR541g) and change the IP but don't know what to change it to.

I've just ordered the TD-W8961NB to replace my set of Modem & Router by one device.
Actual I have TL-WR940N, where I managed the Wake on Lan over internet by a port forward on port 9 to the local IP and setting up an IP&MAC Binding for this machine in the ARP table. By reading the user guide of TD-W8961NB, I'm missing the ARP Settings. Is there any chance to setup the WOL over Internet on this ADSL Router?

yesterday (GMT) I received and installed my new TD-W8968 from Amazon and seemed to work a dream.. until today. The router connects to my desktop PC via a wired LAN connection but uses the wireless for laptop, TV, smartphone etc. Today I notice that when my PC wakes from sleep the LAN connection is lost. None of the LAN lights are on. And also there is no wi-fi connection either and even though WLAN light is on there is no signal at laptop. Setup is pretty much out of the box though I did reset channel to avoid conflicts locally. This is set to 7. The PC LAN adapter is enabled and ready but no apparent connection to router. I changed the router LAN port and that seemed to work but after I had the problem again this change did not work. I changed the LAN cable and that seemed to work until next sleep! Then fail again!
Is there anything on LAN adapter or router that needs changing? Am I on the latest firmware and would an upgrade fix this?

I'm trying to set up external Wake On Lan with my TP Link router.
I can get it working internally using the mac address I'm just wondering how do I do it remotely?
Trying to configure my desktop to Wake on Lan. I have the BIOS set to WOL(PME) enabled, i have the ports set up, and everything. I installed a WoL Sniffer on the desktop, and sent a wake up command and the sniffer showed it came through (with the correct FF FF FF FF FF FF <Mac address repeating>). The router it's hooked up to has the UDP port 9 forwarding, ad that's what my WoL tool is sending, and i see the light by the ethernet port and it does indeed flash repeatedly when i try to send the WoL magic packet.However, nothing happens. It's shut down, plugged in, i used the soft shut down from windows,If it was the router, then the light wouldn't flash when sending it...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a d-link DIR-655. I had a WRT-54G before, and Wake on Wan worked fine (was built in to the DDWRT firmware) and so did remote VNC. Now that I have this one, neither work and I can't find wake on wan in the firmware and no outside utilities seem to work. I am using ultravnc and I did forward port 5900. Port forwading works on other things, I think, because I got web access to work for my NAS.

I have been able to do WOL with a magic packet utility within my local network - so I know that the PC NICS are configured correctly - but this does not work when I try it from my office for example, over the internet.
I have a virtual server set up forwarding ports 9 and 7, UDP to 192.168.1.101 initially, but found some threads about using the broadcast address so changed this, but still no luck. I had to downgrade to 1.20 from 1.21 as I found several threads here about firmware versions not allowing broadcasts.
My setup is as follows:
Router: 192.168.1.1
PC1 192.168.1.101 (static assigned by MAC address in the router)
PC2 192.168.1.102 (static assigned by MAC address in the router)
Broadcast address was 192.168.1.255
Having issues waking NAS devices using a magic packet when using link aggregation on an SG300-28 switch.
Without link aggregation everything works fine so I know the magic packet is being generated correctly and the NAS device is correctly configured to wake. After configuring link aggregation the device does not wake. Have tried dynamic (LACP) and static link aggregation but neither allowed the device to wake? When the NAS is powered off, the ports in the LAG still show as being connected at 100M but it appears the magic packet is not being transmitted.
I am currently running a TL-WR851ND Wifi Router whith the latest build 3.13.27 Build 121101 Rel.38183n() published last November 2012. Now is there any new firmware?

Just purchased the WR940N to use as a wireless bridge. I expected to be able to have the router join my wireless network, and provide Ethernet connectivity to 4 devices behind it. But I'm missing something in the configuration. I can get it on the wireless network, and manage it via the wireless network. But devices plugged into the Ethernet cannot get out to the Internet. Basically, I have a 192.168.1.x network, and the router is node 192.168.1.3 on the wireless network. I've turned off the firewall and DHCP on the router. The Ethernet devices behind it get an address from my network, but the router inserts its own address in as the default gateway, and my Ethernet devices do not have a route to my 192.168.1.x network, despite having an address on it.

And everyting was setup with priority on mikrotik for each user separately. With this router every user connercted on it was hidden behind TL-WR843ND. I have a machine called 'survtest' on my lan with a permanent ip addr of 192.168.0.112. I can't ping that host by name from any other machine on the lan, although I can ping the ip address. Not only that but this machine appears in the DHCP client list within the router with its name 'survtest' and correct IP addr.
There is another machine on the lan called 'bsd' that also has a permanent IP addr of 192.168.0.110. It can be pinged by name from any other machine on the lan. However it does not show up in the DHCP client list at all.
Neither of these machines can be pinged by name from within the tplink admin diagnostic screen.

I bought 2 router but WDS wont work. If i set on both WDS on they wont connect themselves wireless statics show 0 stations if i only set one to wds then there is one station connectet but it only functionates in one way. I set WDS on router A on and plug a lan cable to my pc i can configure Router B if i plug in B my lan cable i cant configure router A. I just got one of these to replace my old wrt54g. Seems to me a lot of people are flashing theirs with dd-wrt or openwrt. I was wondering why exactly. Unlike the old wrt54g, the tp-link stock firmware supports a lot of features in my view, especially the so wanted QOS. Do the CFW give the wr1043nd more stability or maybe better performance? Or is it about features? What features a CFW would add to the stock fw?
