I had an old belkin router and the net worked fine well the router would need to be restarted every week or so. But i got an upgrade and i now have a TP link TD-W8961ND The net is terrible its either there or not. have to keep refreshing pages ect .Could a setting possibly be wrong?

I'm having problems with my wireless connection constantly dropping and have set the optimal settings from the sticky's in the forums, nothing has changed this problem.
-Have changed to a empty Channel. (8)
- TX and RX packets dropping, also some errors.
-All new CAT 6 cabling between router and modem.
-Have tried all different wireless modes.
-Wired clients are working perfectly.
-Changed the DNS servers.
I am having a very frustrating issue with my wireless D-LINK 615 (firmware 5.0.1 NA). The internet connection drops constantly every 2-3 hours. Here are the settings on my router:

This seems to happen after I upgraded the firmware. Before that, did not get a complaint from my children or wife. Before I squeeze the last drop out of this lemon.
I have a toshiba a215-s7437. I bought this router upgrading from the usual netgear router that everyone and there mother has(wrt54g or something?). The routers are in the same exact spot...less than 6 feet from the computer with no obstructions. No matter WHAT i do, even if i put the router on top of the laptop keyboard, over time, usually a matter of minutes, it starts dropping my link speed. My old netgear ever went below 54, EVER. Even if i was out on the porch.It will connect at 54 mbps, then go to 36, etc etc until we get to 1mbps. I have had other friends bring laptops over, same exact thing happens to them. I am viewing the link speed through windows task manager to get these readings. Though i can't see the link speed on my android phone or xbox, it seems over time they get slower also. I have tried googling the hell out of this issue to no avail. I do have the latest firmware. I have also tried searching these cisco forums and have not found any topics pertaining to this (maybe i just suck at searching). I have comcast at 15mbps and i do know that whether it is 54 or 36, it's not gonna be any faster. But just the fact that it falls the whole way to 1 is not acceptable. My fix for this at the moment is just disconnecting and reconnecting real quick, and i always start back out at 54 mbps. Sometimes I will get lucky and it will stay at that point for 20-30 min?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI setup a D-Link DIR-825, VB1, Firmware V2.00NA about a month ago. We have 3 Macs here at home - 1 brand new iMac, a G4 Powerbook, and an old G4 / 933 Tower. The G4 tower is connected via ethernet. The other two through Wi-Fi. My problem is that I can barely use the internet for even a few minutes on the G4 tower, connected via Ethernet, without losing my connection. I can be in the middle of loading a page or an image, and suddenly it will say "Waiting for xxx.com". Then if I try to go to Google.com or something I will invariably get "Looking up xxx.com". The connection usually returns on it's own, but it can take up to 3 or 5 minutes. When I get this message on the ethernet G4 tower, I will also have lost connection on the wireless Macs. For the first couple of weeks the tower was not connected and we were just using the two wireless Macs, and they were working well. It seems that as soon as I hooked up the G4 tower via ethernet, connections became very flaky and intermittent all of a sudden.All the Macs are configured for DHCP. We have a Time Warner cable modem. The G4 tower had previously been used at my office with it's own dedicated DSL modem / router, and it worked flawlessly for months at a time without dropping a connection. I've tried rebooting the modem, then the router, then turning all the Macs back on, several times. Same result. I just tried loading the new firmware but it didn't work. Said the Gateway was too crowded or something.

View 1 Replies View RelatedE2000-RM router has been working fine until about 2 days ago. Wired connection still works fine, but the wireless signals seems to be dropping in and out. I have a couple wireless devices and they all seem to be experiencing problems. Using the network connection bar on my laptop sometimes it shows a strong signal and connects no problem. Then all of a sudden the signal is gone (drops off list). It can be both the main and guest signal dropping, other times it might just be the main, etc., etc. Sometimes it shows a signal but will not connect and then a few seconds it might connect, or drop entirely. I guess the best word to describe it is highly erratic. Distance does not seem to matter. I can be 2 feet away and get the same behavior. The indicator on the box shows a signal at all times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running an Asus G74sx, and it keeps losing connection to the internet (e.g. Youtube videos stop loading, disconnecting from online games constantly, my voice fizzing and breaking on VOIP programs like TeamSpeak 3 or Skype, etc). While the laptop clearly loses connection to the internet, it doesn't loses connections to the router (The signal strength remains excellent) and I've also tried using the cable, which doesn't fix the problem. The other computers using the same router work fine, though. These problems started about a week ago and I can't perform a system restore as the restore point available is from 05/26 (Yesterday). While I'm not an expert in the area, I've looked on several forums to see if there was a possible solution and done the following to try and solve the problem (none of which worked):
1- Restarting computer
2- Restarting router and modem
3- Opening the cmd and typing "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew"
4- Using a cable connection instead of wireless
5- Updating my wireless driver (Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 6150)
6- Unchecking the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" on the driver configurations
I installed Windows 7 a few weeks back with no hitches but over the last week I have been getting regularly kicked off line with above message that the default gateway was not available! Fortunately the Windows troubleshooter fixes it every time but intrigued why it keeps happening.I have reset the adaptor and the router but still no luck!
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the last three weeks I replaced a Linksys WRT54G wireless router with a new E2500. The only reason this was done because the store salesman indicated I should get much better performance over my router that was probably 5 years only.
Since the install I have had nothing but issues. I could never get on PC runing XP to connect. It worked one day and the next morning I could never get it to connect again. I even removed the encryption and went to WEP with no luck. My laptop that I loaded the software on and initially did the connection I didn't have an initial problem. The problem I now have is the wireless connection is constantly dropping. In the course of an hour the connection probably drops 3 to 4 times. If you leave the PC for several hours, you may need to sign of your user and resign in to get the wireless connection to work. This is an experiment gone bad. My old router never dropped a connection and every PC in the house stayed connected forever. This new router is located the same distance as my original one was, but is nothing but a series of failed connection.
I have gone through 2 of these routers now. The first time I was told I had a bad router so it was replaced. The problem is that it randomly disconnects all wireless devices. All I can do is wait for them to reconnect. I am very disappointed that I have not been able to find any solution to this problem. I have seen other posts for similar issuse but no resolution

View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently 3g was made available, and I just manage to get and hold a reasonable connection (3-5mb/s) by putting the 3g dongle on my roof and running a long usb lead down to my pc.Running virtual router manager on my pc I can connect my iphone/ipad/other laptop and apple tv to the internet, however the wireless from the laptop is weak and when trying to use Apple's TV mirroring, the signal is too weak.I have an old ADSL router (TP-Link TL-W8961ND), using the Wifi network from this I am able to produce a smooth picture on the Apple TV, but connecting to this network, I lose my internet connection.Is there anyway I can bridge the 3g connection from my laptop to the router - either wireless or via ethernet cable to share the internet connection, and create a more stable wireless connection at the same time?

Didn't work at all, except for a vague sense I got that the internet wasn't spending as long 'down' as previously when it did drop.And now today my housemate and I are both connected and suffering these intermittent drops, which become more and more frequent, until finally the internet cuts out and won't return. Now I cannot get the TP-Link router to connect to the internet at all. However, switching back over to the original D-Link router now the internet DOES work, but still only intermittently. As I've been writing this it's dropped out for a couple of moments twice!

I just bought the wireless router as stated in the subject and I cant get 2 of our PC�s to connect wirelessly for some reason. 4 other PC's are fineAll machines running windows 7, but when the authentication type on WPA2-PSK the 2 computers ask for a password which we put in but keeps saying its wrong, but infact its right.I can connect them on WPA-PSK, but then all the computers drop out after 30 seconds.

Whenever I enter all the info for a port forward under NAT in the virtual server tab, I click 'save' and nothing happens; chrome and firefox both give the same result.If I go to a different screen after pressing save and then come back to NAT settings, there's no entry updates and no port forwards.Should I install a different firmware (I can't find a newer version to install) or is NAT not supposed to work under PVC2? If I don't enter proper info (like leave the ports blank) I get an error if I press 'save', asking me to finish entering all the required info.

I've downloaded the firmware update 111125 and followed the instructions. The progress bar reaches 100% but the router doesn't seem to restart (judging by the status lights on the front). It does ask me to log back in but when I check the firmware version, it still reads 100722. I also tried factory default settings after the update. Still it reads 100722. I've tried the update 3 times now.

I need to set up an Internal and Guest WLAN. Out of security reason I'd like to separate both networks with VLAN's. Therefore I bought this Router TD-W8961ND and this Access Point TL-WA901ND.
SSID1 = AP1 -> VID 1 (Internal network)
SSID2 = AP2 -> VID 2 (Guest network)
How do i need to set up the router that both networks can use the Internet, but only AP1 can see the other internal computers?

We need to replace the old modem for a small hotel, at the same time we are trying to expand the open (and free) public wifi that we currently offer in the bar area. Before our current modem/router went *PFFFT*, we had managed to get quite decent coverage using the 5 TP repeaters (TL-WA830RE) - but it was ALOT of work. Now we're hoping to replace with a TP modem to make the wifi setup easier.We also have 3 pc's, two wired and one wireless, that are for hotel use. We would like to keep these as separate and as safe as possible from the guest wireless, and i have been told VLAN is the best way to go.So, from what i have read on its spec's, the TD-W8961ND has both VLAN and QoS (which we would also like). It is also well within our price range.Given the setup we wish to implement, is the W8961ND the right idea? What considerations do i need to be bearing in mind for setup?

how to configure QOS on the TD-W8961ND so that the sip packets from a Linksys SPA2102 VOIP ATA which gets its IP address from the DHCP server in the TD-W8961ND is given priority over all other traffic regardless of whether such traffic comes from devices connected via ethernet or wireless to the TD-W8961ND. In my setup I cannot assign a static IP address to the VOIP ATA.

I have two W8961ND, one for may office and the another one for use at my home, I tried to upgrade my device but during the upgrading the power supply plugged out and after that my device didn't boot up any more, so how can I repair my device, Is there any uploader for it's hardware chip because it doesn't work with it's LAN port or WIFI at this moment
I have a modem router (TP-Link TD-W8961ND) connected to the internet and working fine. It is broadcasting a wireless network and that too works fine.
I have a second modem router (Siemens SL2-141) functioning as an extender. It is wired to the first router and broadcasting a wireless network with the same SSID, same security, but on a different channel. DHCP and UPnP are disabled on the second router. My i Pad, iPhone, and Win7-based Think Pad are all able to move between the two networks with no problems.
We also have a Win XP SP2 Net book. When in proximity to Router1, this machine accesses the LAN and Internet with no problems. As soon as it gets closer to Router2, it picks up the signal and shows an "Excellent"/"Strong" connection but it can no longer see the internet. It can see Router2's config page and the other machines on the network but it cannot get past the router to the internet.

I want to add more users to my home network and I couldn't, at this moment I only can connect 8 devices (12 devices at least) when I try to connect the next one its impossible, but if I take off one of the connected devices then the router allows to connect the new one.How can I connect more than 8 devices to my router ? (wireless)Also, is there any limits with Wireless MAC Address Filter ? because I can't add more than 8 MAC addresses in my old router I could do that.

A couple of weeks ago I have bought a TD-W8961ND in replacement of my old modem/router (of another brand, to upgrade from Wireless G to N). I tried to replicate in the new router something similar to my old setup, so I programmed Virtual Servers (under the NAT menu) with the following rules: NATRules.jpg in an attempt to:
- grant access from "outside" Internet to my web server
- have a Wakeup-On-LAN from "outside" Internet ..etc.. without success. Please note that:
- I have successfully setup a DDNS server to reach my modem router from outside
- as for WOL, I defined my subnet mask as 255.255.255.128
- I have not set any other rule, nor in NAT, nor in routing or other
- I tried also with firewall disabled
- I do my testing by means of a smartphone with wireless disabled and Internet connection via mobile service provider
- Both the above mentioned functions were working with my old modem/router (and still work on LAN), and I have not changed other things (PC setup etc)

Having trouble setting up router for remote viewing my Swann DVR. I've gone to Advanced Set Up( NAT)to Vertual Server and added two rules for DVR one for port 85 and one for port 9000 both with the DVR's IP Add. of 192.168.1.165 Is there something else I should do?
