View 9 RepliesMy computer stopped connecting a few days ago. It had been working great until then. I have two other computers in the same wireless environment and they are working great. I've done all the preliminary checks and had all the settings checked by Comcast (my internet provider) but they were not able to evaluate the problem without cost. I've been unemployed for the last two years so I need to find another option to correct this issue. Every time I attempt to connect, windows says that they are unable to renew the IP address. Limited or no connectivity is shown. I've also noticed that If I leave the home where I'm trying to connect, I'm able to connect to outside sources like Wayport or any other network without any problem. My router is a Linksys Model #WRT320N. It's working just fine with the other computers in the house. I tried cleaning out all my "preferred networks" in the wireless Network Connection Properties but that didn't work either.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI believe that I should have started with this issue because I cannot run tclsh on a multilayer switch. When I try to execute "tclsh" command I receive this message: SWITCH#tclsh
Translating "tclsh"...domain server (X.X.X.X)
% Unknown command or computer name, or unable to find computer address
The equipment is a MLS C3550 - Version 12.2(35)SE3
Is there any wrong with the IOS version?
How can I get my computer to find it's IP address and connect?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got back from vacation and suddenly can't connect to my Wifi network at home with my netbook anymore. It says validating identity but never connects. When I try to repair the connection, it keeps authenticating and then says that windows is unable to find a certificate to log me on to the network. I did some googling and it was suggested to uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box under the Authentication tab in Wireless Network properties. I tried that but then I get an error message saying "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration".I have no idea what to do or what the problem is. My other laptop works fine from which I have set up this network works fine. My phone seems to work fine, too. I already restarted the router and my netbook but that didn't work either.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have not been able to connect to the wireless connection. I have had some trouble with this in the past when booting up, but usually I can manually select our wireless network on my own and it works fine. But since last week, I have not been able to connect at all. On the Wireless Connection Status, it showed Limited or No connectivity. I tried the repair button in the Wireless Network Connection Status Support tab, and that told me that I cannot connect because I could not renew my IP address.I have tried a few different things, such as doing an ipconfig /release and /renew. Schools coming up, and itd be nice to have internet access on the laptop as well as our desktop.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis Dell Latitude D800 shows connected to my network with an IP address and DNS information matches my home computer - I cannot get connected to the Internet unless I put in an IP address. I've run a TCP/IP utility to reset the catalog and all settings. Looked at the hosts file in Start/Run/Drivers - etc folder/hosts, and the last line shows 127.0.0.1 localhost
It was part of a domain when I first started working on it, and I'm trying to get it for use just as a personal PC. It connects to a dock, and that's where the Internet connection is. I've tried wired and wireless, both show connected. I can ping the computer's IP address, the gateway, and the router, and any other IP address out on the Internet that I have tried.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI come here today with a problem that has been plaguing this laptop forever and a day. You see, about two or so years ago on this very laptop, it was just another day where I booted up my laptop and was going to get a good day of wasting time on the internet underway. I tried to open Firefox, and I got prompted to download an apparent update for the browser. Obviously I went along with it because it seemed pretty routine and identical to how Firefox had updated in the past.
After the update was all done and dusted, I found myself unable to connect to the internet through Firefox. I would just get a constant stream of "Unable to connect" messages. I thought it might have been a problem on my end since back then I had rather wishy washy internet. So I let it settle for a while. Later on that day I talked to a few of my buddies over Xbox Live and asked if they'd had any similar issues with the new Firefox update because at the time, we all used it and hadn't quite jumped ship to Chrome just yet. But no matter who I asked, I always got the same response "I didn't get any update." Which as you can imagine, confused me quite thoroughly.
I just rebuilt my network and I've encountered a problem with my wireless access. Right now I have a Dlink 2540B modem/wired router. To that is connected an 8-port Dlink 2208 Switch and a Linksys WRT110 wireless router. All the desktops connect via ethernet to the switch and everything is working fine. I just added the WRT110 and specified it would be a secondary router on the network but as soon as I got it connected it killed my internet. I assumed this was because of DHCP being enabled, which was true once I logged in and looked. I of course disabled it and now the internet is back up on the wired portion and I can connect to the wireless router as well. But the only problem now is that my wireless devices are not being assigned IP's at all. Specifically, my Mac says "airport has a self assigned ip address and will not be able to connect to the internet"How are IP's assigned to wireless devices that connect to the network via a wireless router with DHCP disabled?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSimply what happens when I attempt to connect to the wireless network (Home network). I'll click 'Connect', it will start attempting to connect, it will keep attempting to connect for a good few minutes and then just stop, no error message, no 'unable to connect', it will just stop and I'll be back to square one, the home wireless connection will still be there but not connected.
The connection displays as full signal all the time, but will not connect. In the house we have also got 3 other laptops running from the same connection from time to time, these all connect fine without any hassle.
However I cannot connect to the internet, the following message appears. The system cannot up date the telephone book file error 624. I am not connected to a telephone line for my system, as I use a modem USB, which is working ok.

On the one computer that is having problems I can connect to the site but then when I click on a link I get unable to connect then I can reload the page and some times it connects to the page. So as I am browsing through the site almost every time I click on a link I get unable to connect and have to keep reloading the page.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my fiance picked up a netbook and we can't get it to connect to my wireless network. It is an XP computer with Service Pack 3. It sees the wireless network, which other devices can connect to with no problem but when I try to connect it I get a limited or no connectivity error. I get the same thing when I try to plug the computer directly into the router. Occasionally it will just connect to the wireless, but it still won't connect to the router, let alone the the internet. Currently it is not connected to anything.

Basically my desktop computer no longer connects to the internet, and I'll try to describe the problem to you all to the best of my ability.I ran ipconfig /all and it is attached. The problem first started a few weeks back and I haven't been able to get around to it due to school. When trying to connect to my router it will connect with limited connectivity (in other words, at the bottom right of the screen when you check the SSID you're connected to, it will show the signal strength, but it also has a yellow exclamation mark indicating it has no connectivity. When I ran the built-in troubleshooter on it, I received multiple things:
- sometimes: "windows could not automatically detect this network proxy settings"
- sometimes: "no errors detected"
Of course I would've done a system restore long ago, however initially I thought the problem was the adapter so I kept re-installing the drivers, I even went to buy other network adapters to make sure my adapter wasn't the one that was defective (I have an ASUS adapter, the other adapters I've tried were D-Link, and Netgear which is also the brand of my router which is very old). Because of all these installs/uninstalls, the old system restores I had were gone. I have Windows 7 64 bit, I'm using wireless connectivity and cannot try ethernet cable due to the immobility of my desktop and problems it would generate around the house. I've attempted to change the IP address of my network properties of ivp4 to defaults, change the DNS server, check my DHCP, check my services, check my registry, and many other things found on the internet (including resetting with netsh)
I've been having connecting my other desktop pc (with windows vista) to the internet. I am connecting it via ethernet/cat 5 and every time I continue to get a message that says unidentified network and it wont connect me to the net. From a previous post, I tryed going in and working with the tcp/ip stacks thru the command prompt and had no luck. So what I did was copy all the information from the command ipconfig.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter recently having a new BT home hub 3.0 installed in our house my computer is unable to connect to the internet. Everything else connects laptops, PlayStation, iPod's just this one computer doesn't.
When the computer is turned on the wireless connection manager says that it is connected and then very quickly loses it again. After reconnecting the computer and trying to go on the internet, explorer says that it is not connected and i can not go to any websites.
Leaving the computer running, the wireless network establishes a link, with full signal strength and then loses it again just as quick. This will just continue for as long as the computer is on.
Computers is not a strength of mine but when trying to repair the connection the computer stops at 'renewing IP address' and does nothing. The only other message i have seen is- 'status: acquiring network address' this never completes and the link is quickly lost.
I have an HP notebook and it says I am connected with my wireless, but I have no internet access. I have tried to do the CMD CONFIG ALL, but it comes up with a black box so there is nothing for me to cut and paste. This happens on my daughter's wireless connection as well as at our public library.
