Cisco WAN :: MLS C3550 - Unable To Find Tclsh Command / Computer Address

Jan 2, 2013

I believe that I should have started with this issue because I cannot run tclsh on a multilayer switch. When I try to execute "tclsh" command I receive this message: SWITCH#tclsh

Translating "tclsh"...domain server (X.X.X.X)

% Unknown command or computer name, or unable to find computer address

The equipment is a MLS C3550 - Version 12.2(35)SE3

Is there any wrong with the IOS version?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: IP Address DHCP Command Not Available On C3550

Nov 19, 2011

I'm trying to configure my C3550 with fast ethernet port 0/48 assigned to vlan 2 in static access mode and SVI vlan 2 configured as dhcp client.

But I see command ip address dhcp is not available on interface vlan 2:

Cat3550(config-if)#ip ad
Cat3550(config-if)#ip address ?
A.B.C.D  IP address
Cat3550(config-if)#ip address

Could it be a problem related to the version running on the equipment (see below the output of sh version command not sure of what EA1 stands for)? I read here [URL] that this command was introduced in version 12.1(2)T

If it is a version problem is there any possibility to download upgraded version for free?

WS-C3550-12T And WS-C3550-48-EM / Fiber Switch Uplink

Jul 4, 2011

I notice that my Cisco switches have 2 fiber GBIC ports on them each and while i have been around networking for quite some time i have never dug that much into fiber. So after some quick googlefu i learned that there is lots of different types and compatibility problems.

The 2 switches i would like to connect are a WS-C3550-12T and a WS-C3550-48-EM.From what i have read these are 1000-base-fx?

Cisco WAN :: 2800 Router Can't Have Tclsh But 2801 Does With Same IOS

May 10, 2011

I have 5 routers. Four routers are: c2801-IPBASEK9-m v 12.4(24)T2. One router is a C2800-IPBASEK9-M v 12.4(24)T3. so, it appears that the IOS on all 5 routers is very similar, the only difference is the T3 at the end of the version and that 4 are 2801s and one is a 2800. What is very wierd is the 4 2801 have the embedded scripting language "tclsh". The 2800 does not have tclsh. If I issue the command: tclsh on the 2800, I get:

Center-GW#tclshTranslating "tclsh"

DSL-320B No IP Address Given To Router Until After Cloning MAC Address From Another Computer

Jun 1, 2012

We have an ADSL connection and use a D-Link DSL-320B modem. We have a D-Link DIR-120 router connected to this modem. This has worked perfectly fine up until today when we disconnected the router and connected a computer (call it A) directly to the modem because it was getting an unusable connection through the router for some reason. We later also performed a factory reset on the DIR-120 router.

Unfortunately, after the above steps the router did not receive any IP address (through DHCP) from the ADSL connection anymore. During my attempts to debug this I noticed that my laptop (call it B) didn't get any IP address either (when connected directly to the modem). I noticed the following syslog entries repeating over and over while trying to connect: [code]

At this point computer A could still get a connection just fine tho (when connected directly to the modem).

I then tried to change the MAC address of the router to an arbitrary one (a copy of computer B's MAC address but with the last digit increased by one). The router still did not get assigned any IP address. Finally I tried making the router clone the MAC address of a third computer (call it C). C has never been connected directly to the modem. Doing this worked. After cloning the MAC address of computer C the router is immediately assigned an IP address and the internet connection works as it did prior to all this.

Now, my question is, why would computer B and the original MAC address of the router not be able to get an IP address while two other computers worked just fine? Why would changing to an arbitrary MAC address not work while cloning the MAC address of another computer did? Could the router's MAC address have been blocked by the ISP for some reason (and what could cause this)?

but my situation seems more like a blacklisting of some MAC addresses rather then allowing just a single MAC address.

Wireless :: PS3 MAC Address Through Command Prompt On PC?

May 30, 2011

My PS3 recently got stolen. I was informed that the detective assigned to my case can contact Sony with the serial# and MAC address to track it down.I realize that there is this way:" If all you have is the serial number SCEA would need the MAC address, and only SCEJ has the "master list" of serial number to MAC address comparison. All SCEA would need from your local PD is an affidavit request / warrant (whatever their specific agency prefers to use or call them) asking SCEA to acquire said information."However, I also realize that I can find my MAC address through command prompt on my windows. However, there are more than one MAC addresses (or physical address as referred on the command prompt). My Question is, how do I know which one is the same as my PS3 MAC address?
There are these choices:

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection 2:
Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection 2:
Ethernet adapter Local Area connection
Ethernet adapter Bluetooth Network Connection

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 5.2 - Unable To Map Command Set To Shell Profile

May 31, 2012

I am in the process of setting up ACS 5.2 for a network and have run into an issue when attempting to apply the following aaa commands to a network device:

aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ local if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ local if-authenticated

Once the commands have been applied to the device configuration I get "command authorization failed" when attempting to do anything.  Taking a quick look at the TACACS Authorization reports I see a failure reason of "13025 Command failed to match a Permit rule" and under the Selected Command Set "Deny All Commands" is listed. After doing a bit of searching, I noticed some articles online that indicate I should be able to specify the appropriate command set to the authorization profile under the Default Device Admin policy.  However, when I open up a Device Administration Authorization Policy, nowhere in the window does it display command sets that I can select from.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6500 Clarification For Using Mac-address-table Synchronize Command

Jul 12, 2010

We want to configure the "mac-address-table synchronize" command on our 6500 series switches to ensure that the CAM tables on our DFCs are in synch with the PFC on the supervisor modules. url...it is recommended that we disable the routed MAC purging with the mac-address-table aging-time 0 routed-mac global configuration command. What is a routed mac entry?  Are there any issues with running that mac aging-time command?

We also plan to run this command "mac-address-table aging-time 14400" to keep our ARP and CAM tables on the same aging time to reduce unicast flooding on our network.  Can we run this command with the "routed-mac" command above?

Cisco LAN :: 1801 Setup - Unable To Access ROMmon Using Special Command

Nov 9, 2012

I have blown the dust of my Cisco 1801 and looked the books out to put a decent router on my network now I am running my own server however I have hit a few bumps but totally stick now.

DHCP is disabled and I can't remember the sub net. Connected with the console cable but finding my admin password isn't accepted. Running the password recovery but unable to access ROMMON using special command > break. I should get this but the ATA monitor library just loads and I get stuck on the password screen.

*** System received an abort due to Break Key *** signal= 0x3, code= 0x500, context= 0x813ac158 PC = 0x802d0b60, Vector = 0x500, SP = 0x80006030 rommon 1 > #

From what I gather (still green behind the ears) the ROMMON command has been disabled. Any way to get into my Cisco or do I need to reload the IOS on the flash card?

Can't Find Third Computer On Network

Jul 2, 2012

I can't find the third computer on my network. All the computers connect to the internet but only the two XP computers show up via my network places. I try to setup an office network on all of the computers to see if it works. I can still only get the XP computers to connect. My main goal is to be able to create a private network to share files between the 3 computers. This is for a small office in a corporate building so it has to be private. The third computer is running on Vista which I don't know how to use at all as I only have win7/xp at my house.
