View 11 RepliesI have a problem where my computer is showing as connected to the internet but I can't access the internet through the browsers or updates etc.I have a wireless home network consisting of a computer , a laptop and a playstation conected to talk talk router. my laptop is the problem and is running on vista home basic ! In the corner of the screen it showing that im connected and that im connected to the internet and the router. But if i open a browser it acts like it isnt connected. i have tried system restore but it didnt work. my computer and ps3 work fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have no admin privileges or access to the router, I have contacted support and they've tried various fixes on their end and just told me it must be a problem on my side. the network registers a mac address under your account name and then assigns an ip.My problem is that my comouter connects to the network fine, and tells me I have internet access, but I can't actually access the internet when I try. I'm definitely connected to the network as i can access the ask4 page that allows me to register a new device, which i access with an ip address of 10.142.0.1 so I'm guessing that's stored locally somewhere on the network. I have tried internet explorer, FireFox and chrome, as well as connecting through game portals and none of them are able to access the internet.
IE gives an error that it says can't be fixed as its an error with the server and Chrome gives error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET). I've tried various fixes, some of which have worked temporarily. After trying most of them I've had internet access that has lasted between 5 minutes and a few hours, but the problem has always returned and the same fix that worked first time hasn't always worked again. I have an xbox that I connect to the same network port in the wall and that accesses the internet perfectly. My computer has 2 Ethernet ports and both have the same problem.
My network adapters are 2 NVIDIA nforce networking controllers (drivers are up to date)When the problem started I was on Windows vista, but I've upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit as an attempt to fix it.I've tried different Ethernet cables, connecting both ports, uninstalling my network adapter drivers, disabling and re-enabling them, resetting my IE settings, disabling and uninstalling my AntiVirus,connecting through an Ethernet switch and disconnecting and reconnecting the cable.
About a week ago my mom (unknowingly to me) installed a registry "booster" (Uniblue Registry Booster) and as expected, it messed some stuff up. As soon as she finished scanning and it "fixed" all her registry issues, she could no longer load webpages in her browser.PC was running XP at the time of the corruption, none of her system restore points work, and unfortunately her automatic backups had stopped running about 2 months ago without me knowing. She's been planning to switch to Windows 7 soon anyway so after a few days of trying to find a solution and not having any luck I thought "well maybe if we upgrade it will unintentionally fix some files / settings during the install." Going from XP to Windows 7 was no fun task itself, but after many hours of installs I had it upgraded to Vista and then to 7.

We have 4710 ACE in our network and currently we are using software version A3 2.0.

I am unable to access my router through the ip address (192.168.1.1) even though I have verified that is the address. To be sure, I did an ipconfig release/renew, but no results. I want to limit a user's network access by MAC address and I don't think I can do that without accessing the router thru the ip address.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently had a vendor configure our 2 firewalls (ASA5520). We are replacing a active-failover PIX525 firewall in 2 locations. After the vendor configured the new ASA5520's, I was unable to access the ASDM. The configurations are a basically modified versions of the config on the PIX525. I did find that they did not set the ASDM image path. [code]
I have tried from my browser as well as downloading and installing th ASDM on my computer.
I am experiencing problems trying to access my routers HTTP-type configuration. I have a Billion 400G router. The address to access the router was always http://10.0.0.2 and that has always worked. A dialog box would appear asking for a username and password. Now it doesn't even reach that screen. It says that the connection timed out. I've tried Firefox/Chrome/IE10. To no avail. My system: Windows 8 build 9500. Also something weird. When I type in this Microsoft thing comes up with IIS 8.

My hp/g62 is fine conecting to the wifi, but browser (chrome or Explorer - the same story) is only sometimes richable. It is alike I can see one website every 60 min. browser says: the website is unavaiable, connect later, and down on it: dns is not responding. Other time: connect error: time out etc?

I thought it was the browser so I installed the Internet Explorer 9 and while doing so it was able to download the updates but when I open up the browser it still doesn't work.
I'm thinking that it might be a network problem but I've ran out of ideas. I have a netgear router that's connecting a desktop computer, two VOIP devices, my sisters Mac works but we have two laptop that aren't working. I've also tried connecting it directly to an ethernet cable from the router but it's still not able to open the browser.
I have a wireless network (cable modem and router) set up in my home, which all of my devices are able to connect to the internet just fine, all but two; one is a netbook and the other is a desktop. The netbook has a wireless card built in, and the desktop has usb wireless card. Both of devices are running xp (both are the only compters in my home ran on xp), and these are the only two devices that will not connect to the internet wirelessly, except for when the wireless is unsecure these two devices connect fine, but once I enable a password these two devices say connected with an excellent signal strength, but once I open up the brower no web page comes up (just a message saying server not found). These two computers are able to install automatic program updates from over the internet, but still no web page will come up.

It is able to connect to the router fine and says it has a connection but is unable to access anything. And this is accessing the router either wirelessly or wired through an ethernet cable. I know that it is not the router because her roommates are able to access the internet fine and her computer is also unable to access the internet from other networks. Is it possible that the network card in her laptop has died and needs to be replaced? or could it be a corrupted driver? Would using a usb network adapter be a temporary fix? View 3 Replies View RelatedShe has an older HP Vista laptop that connects to the internet just fine (including downloading updates, connecting to messenger clients, etc.), but it will not connect to any of her browsers...
1. I understand firewalls can throw huge issues, I am pretty sure this is where the problem lies. She was using Ad-aware and I am pretty sure that the window that popped up that she clicked switched her firewall settings back to default and left something weird in the system. When I try to disable Windows firewall and go back to Ad-aware it won't let me exit snooze. It asks if I confirm and when I do nothing happens.
2. I have done a winsock reset and made sure that the proxy boxes are unchecked to make sure there isn't a proxy problem.
3. The ipconfig/reset threw no errors, everything looks fine.
4. No hardware conflicts or errors reported in device manager and all drivers are up to date. Again since the internet is actually working minus the browser I don't think it is a hardware issue.
5. No virus detected. Symantec is loaded on the laptop did a run with that, also have AVG that I installed and ran (disabled one and did the other, never run simultaneously). AVG is now uninstalled as Symantec is disabled to avoid any conflict with AdAware.
Is there any way to completely disable all firewalls, remove any settings or registries (if any), and start from scratch with it? Also, as networking is by far my weak point, is there anything I need to check as far as the DNS is concerned?

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow fun. Earlier this week, my state experienced some severe weather which ended with a tree on our street falling and the power going out all day. It took a bit longer after that for our cable services to be restored - internet included. Ever since then, my computer in particular seems to be screwing things up for everyone else. When my computer is shut off, every other computer (one laptop, two desktops) in the house has been able to connect to the internet and maintain that connection all day. However, as soon as mine connects, the connection dies within minutes - for everyone.
I thought it could be an IP conflict but every machine in the house is set to obtain their IP automatically. Interestingly enough, when the XBOX 360 is bridged through my computer it (the xbox) also maintains a connection, albeit a slower one.I have reset both the router and modem, including hard resets, and I've pinged and pinged and pinged. The same thing seems to happen regardless of whether I am using a wired or wireless connection. Here's what I have:
Computer model is HP DV6838nr.
Modem is Toshiba DAZ8821F.
Router is Linksys wrt54g v5.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate.
I am using Firefox but have also tried Opera with the same results.

+ Computer has been showing a successful connection in the Network and Sharing Center even when websites fail to load and the connection has gone down for others.
+ When trying to use a wired connection for the first time, the computer could not connected. IT jumped back and forth between "Identifying..." and no connection at all.
+ I reset the router with both wired and wireless connections. With the wireless, it would become functional for a few minutes after being reset and then fail again. With the wired, the router would not broadcast at all. I ended up having to unplug it for a minute and then plug it back in to get it to broadcast again.
+ I tried using my cable with just the modem, but the Data and PC lights failed to light up upon doing this.
+ After all of this, I removed the wired connection and re-enabled my wireless on the laptop. Connection was restored for a few minutes.
+ Despite a successful ping after two minutes, most websites wouldn't load.
+ Switched to a different laptop after turning mine off and was able to maintain a normal internet connection for over an hour.After starting up the computer for the first time:

I tried my entire afternoon trying to figure this out but to no avail. Fortunately, I found this place out of my desperation for a solution. My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Other computers and laptops were able to connect and use the internet well using the same router. I tried manually configuring my IP and default gateway based on what I read but nothing worked.

I'm able to use the web interface to the router, from one computer (Windows XP, IE 8). But from my other computer (also Windows XP, IE 8) I can log in to the router, but then the browser just presents an empty screen. I haven't been able to discover any setting in the browser that could cause this. From this same computer, I can access the web interface with no problem, using Google Chrome browser! So the problem seems to be in IE.

I am now able to connect to the 615 either by wifi or by typing it's ip address with another computer connected to the LAN. Connecting to the 615 by wifi, i can do a ping request to urls or receive and send mail with my e-mail client but i can't access websites using my browser.s it possible to get it working without installing some kind of modified firmware? I tried plugging the Internet ethernet cable in the LAN and Internet ports of the 615, none works.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSanta got a second-hand acer mini-laptop for my daughter this last Christmas and she accidentally pour some coke in it, I took it to the shop and I had to pay to repair it; when I got it back, the first thing is that originally it has Windows 7 and now XP, I thought it was ok, but even though I use my network passkey and everything, it quickly connected to the network showing internet access but when I open IE, it shows a message to diagnose connection problems, I run the repair wizard and nothing, but all the time it is showing that the connection is working, will I need to take it back to the shop or is there something I can do?

It will connect to the network, but times out when trying to access any webpages. All other devices are able to connect to the network and access the internet with no issue. I can't connect suddenly to the Internet. I tried both Wired and Wireless connection to my laptop. The icon is showing that my laptop has detected the connection but has no internet access.Showing in my screen is: Connected to Network. IPV4 no internet access, IPV6 no internet accessI tried using my iPhone to connect via the wireless connection and I could get browse the Internet with it.. hence i'm sure the problem lies with the laptop.
