Connected To Internet But Cannot Access Through Browser
Feb 13, 2011
I have a problem where my computer is showing as connected to the internet but I can't access the internet through the browsers or updates etc.I have a wireless home network consisting of a computer , a laptop and a playstation conected to talk talk router. my laptop is the problem and is running on vista home basic ! In the corner of the screen it showing that im connected and that im connected to the internet and the router. But if i open a browser it acts like it isnt connected. i have tried system restore but it didnt work. my computer and ps3 work fine.
I have been using this wireless internet connection for a long time, but the other day I went to go online, it didn't work. Ive tried lots of things but nothing seems to work.I'm able to acess the same wifi from my phone and it works fine, so i know its not the actual network, its something on my side.pics of xirrus screenshot & intel proset config attached[CODE]
My daughters laptop is having tones of trouble connecting to the net. All browsers are giving me same "Can't connect" messages but automatic updates and stuff seem to be ok.
Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.1 OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic , Service Pack 1, 32 bit Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor 2650e, x64 Family 15 Model 127 Stepping 2
She has an older HP Vista laptop that connects to the internet just fine (including downloading updates, connecting to messenger clients, etc.), but it will not connect to any of her browsers...
1. I understand firewalls can throw huge issues, I am pretty sure this is where the problem lies. She was using Ad-aware and I am pretty sure that the window that popped up that she clicked switched her firewall settings back to default and left something weird in the system. When I try to disable Windows firewall and go back to Ad-aware it won't let me exit snooze. It asks if I confirm and when I do nothing happens.
2. I have done a winsock reset and made sure that the proxy boxes are unchecked to make sure there isn't a proxy problem.
3. The ipconfig/reset threw no errors, everything looks fine.
4. No hardware conflicts or errors reported in device manager and all drivers are up to date. Again since the internet is actually working minus the browser I don't think it is a hardware issue.
5. No virus detected. Symantec is loaded on the laptop did a run with that, also have AVG that I installed and ran (disabled one and did the other, never run simultaneously). AVG is now uninstalled as Symantec is disabled to avoid any conflict with AdAware.
Is there any way to completely disable all firewalls, remove any settings or registries (if any), and start from scratch with it? Also, as networking is by far my weak point, is there anything I need to check as far as the DNS is concerned?
I've been following those instructions to set a dir-615 as a wifi access point connected to a switch : [URL]. I am now able to connect to the 615 either by wifi or by typing it's ip address with another computer connected to the LAN. Connecting to the 615 by wifi, i can do a ping request to urls or receive and send mail with my e-mail client but i can't access websites using my browser.s it possible to get it working without installing some kind of modified firmware? I tried plugging the Internet ethernet cable in the LAN and Internet ports of the 615, none works.
I have intel Atom system, i installed windows xp sp2,i connected to internet but my browser doesnt works, i checked my modem, cable all are working fine then i pinged my ip in cmd and default gateway and website they are ping perfectly but i cant browse in ie, firefox,Even i replaced operating system but it doesn't work.
The other day I had no problem accessing the internet with my ethernet browser, however yesterday, I couldn't access the internet anymore ( I only have ethernet browsers' instanleed in my computer). I sure have internet connection, I can even click the 'ethernet' but it doesn't continue uploading and there's this small black message box telling about 'memory'...
I have 2 PC's on a LAN, both Windows 7 Ultimate. Both PC's is connected to the same router via ethernet. Now PC number two has internet access and works great, but PC number 1 also shows "Internet Access" in the system tray and also in the network map, it shows that it is connected to the internet. But when I open ANY browser(FF, IE, Chrome) it cannot connect to the internet. Skype also cannot connect. As I said, the other PC (PC2) can connect fine and has the exact same setup as PC1. However, on PC1, when I manually connect via a dial-up broadband connection using the SAME username and password to my ISP as I used in the router config, it connects. The problem is that it loses the connection every 2 minutes or so...(failed to connect...redialing...). What I can do on PC1 to make it connect to the internet via the router the same way the other PC does?
Also, the two PC connects fine over the LAN between each other, but as I said, PC 1 cannot connect to the WAN the same way PC2 does. Things I tried: I did a TCP/IP stack repair and rebooted. Nothing. I disconnected the 'working PC' from the LAN, nothing. I uninstalled the Antivirus and Firewall, nothing...
Router: Siemens Giga 762SX
Network adapter on PC1: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. I do have the latest drivers installed
I am experiencing problems trying to access my routers HTTP-type configuration. I have a Billion 400G router. The address to access the router was always http://10.0.0.2 and that has always worked. A dialog box would appear asking for a username and password. Now it doesn't even reach that screen. It says that the connection timed out. I've tried Firefox/Chrome/IE10. To no avail. My system: Windows 8 build 9500. Also something weird. When I type in this Microsoft thing comes up with IIS 8.
I run a small organisation with 4 pc in LAN with a D-link DES 1016E router, and of course Internet connection through BSNL Broad Brand with a dynamic IP . Kordil EDMS, XAMPP is installed in one of this Pc with XP Pro SP3 and IIS7. I want to establish a easy and Free system through which i can connect my office server from anywhere through browser for editing ms office files at my Office network. suggest a step by step guide. I don't have any system administration knowledge. i have activated Remote desktop, but whenever i am connecting through internet my DSL router configuration page is opening.
Is there any way to access the USB storage I plugged into my router other than using an Internet browser? I was hoping to use it like any other drive on my system.
I have recently run into an intermittent and annoying problem. My LAN connection always shows that it is connected, but once every few hours, IE8 will not be able to connect. Usually, after about 5 minutes, the browser will find its bearings and start working again.
My dell computer tells me i am connected to the internet, but every time i try and use my web browser, it gives me a troubleshoot page and informs me that I am NOT connected to the internet. I have tried going through the process of the "troubleshoot" but it never does anything.
My hp/g62 is fine conecting to the wifi, but browser (chrome or Explorer - the same story) is only sometimes richable. It is alike I can see one website every 60 min. browser says: the website is unavaiable, connect later, and down on it: dns is not responding. Other time: connect error: time out etc?
Out of the blue my wireless connection stopped working, my browser cannot connect, I don't know what to do. I have a Samsung laptop that's running on Windows 7. I thought it was the browser so I installed the Internet Explorer 9 and while doing so it was able to download the updates but when I open up the browser it still doesn't work.
I'm thinking that it might be a network problem but I've ran out of ideas. I have a netgear router that's connecting a desktop computer, two VOIP devices, my sisters Mac works but we have two laptop that aren't working. I've also tried connecting it directly to an ethernet cable from the router but it's still not able to open the browser.
About a week ago my mom (unknowingly to me) installed a registry "booster" (Uniblue Registry Booster) and as expected, it messed some stuff up. As soon as she finished scanning and it "fixed" all her registry issues, she could no longer load webpages in her browser.PC was running XP at the time of the corruption, none of her system restore points work, and unfortunately her automatic backups had stopped running about 2 months ago without me knowing. She's been planning to switch to Windows 7 soon anyway so after a few days of trying to find a solution and not having any luck I thought "well maybe if we upgrade it will unintentionally fix some files / settings during the install." Going from XP to Windows 7 was no fun task itself, but after many hours of installs I had it upgraded to Vista and then to 7.
I have a wireless network (cable modem and router) set up in my home, which all of my devices are able to connect to the internet just fine, all but two; one is a netbook and the other is a desktop. The netbook has a wireless card built in, and the desktop has usb wireless card. Both of devices are running xp (both are the only compters in my home ran on xp), and these are the only two devices that will not connect to the internet wirelessly, except for when the wireless is unsecure these two devices connect fine, but once I enable a password these two devices say connected with an excellent signal strength, but once I open up the brower no web page comes up (just a message saying server not found). These two computers are able to install automatic program updates from over the internet, but still no web page will come up.
I am connected to my network wirelessly and I have Internet acces (according to the symbol at the bottom right) bu the Internet doesn't work. At the moment it keeps fluctuating between giving me interne and not I am using Skype to tell me if I have Internet ( when it's green I do when it's grey I don't) I have tried many things on forums like obtaining ip automatically or obtaining a fixed ip. I've tried renewing the ip and all this doesnt work.
well a couple days of go it was working fine until i updated windows 7 now it says im connected to the internet but when i go on it dosnt load anything, and when i go check it says that "IPv6 connectivity: No Internet access" how ever the IPv4 is connected to the internet, should i restore settings to osmetimes earlier this week
for the first time i tried to connect my laptop to a wireless connection... a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark flashed over the wireless icon...it said identifying the network and then said no internet access... i tried all the methods... i am not able to renew the ip address or reset it.... the network protection is wpa/wpa2 psk.... i know there is no problem with my router as all my other devices can access net through it.... i tried disabling the firewall and then connecting... but with no luck...in the status of the network i have ipv6= no internet access... ipv4= no internet access... when i troubleshoot the network it says invalid ip address... and when i manually enter ip address in ipv6.. there it also says invalid ip address...
So for a little while now I have been randomly getting a situation where my wireless connection shows "no internet access" while remaining connected to the router. I have tried a couple different wireless adapters and it has persisted. I have had my laptop next to me to see if they both lost connectivity at the same time to see if maybe it was my router or modem losing internet but my laptop remains connected fine. I think I am missing something.
Santa got a second-hand acer mini-laptop for my daughter this last Christmas and she accidentally pour some coke in it, I took it to the shop and I had to pay to repair it; when I got it back, the first thing is that originally it has Windows 7 and now XP, I thought it was ok, but even though I use my network passkey and everything, it quickly connected to the network showing internet access but when I open IE, it shows a message to diagnose connection problems, I run the repair wizard and nothing, but all the time it is showing that the connection is working, will I need to take it back to the shop or is there something I can do?
I have a cox modem and a liksys wrt54g router. I cannot access the internet to set up the router. I have followed all the required steps in hooking up the router.
I'm not sure why I have a broadband connection AND a local area connection, but I cannot connect to the local area connection whereas the broadband connection is fine. I've already set to obtain IP address automatically and still not enabled. The wireless connection was working fine a few days ago, and seems to have been reset by the ISP causing these issues. Other devices are also unable to get internet though they can detect and connect to the router. Here is my ipconfig/all. Note: I am in China so my settings are possibly different than what you're used to.
I see the router and the modem are working just fine as usual and even the guy from comcast says there is nothing wrong with the internet connection itself. The problems I am having right now are
- I can only access to Facebook, Spotify, but nothing else.
- It sometimes randomly comes back and everything works but then it only lasts for a few minutes-hours and it goes off and won't work again. I've tried resetting the modem, router, and I even tried creating a new network but nothing worked out so far.I currently own a mac and a windows 7 laptop.
When I looked up the internet connection status, for the packets that I received 236, I only receive 30-40. When I click repair, it said the IP address already renewed. However, the internet still not working. When I use my laptop to browse the internet, it said the same thing, internet connected but cannot browse at all.
I tried so many things, such as clearing the DNS cache, releasing and renewing IP address, I did set the properties of the wireless connection to obtain DNS and IP automatically, I tried pinging, I turned off all my firewalls, I tried system restore, but still not working.
Im having some problems connecting to the internet. my router is perfectly connected but i cant have wireless internet connection. when i plug the cable in the wall socket and in my computer, it works perfectly. But when i try to plug it in my router to have wireless, it doesnt work. Ive tried resetting the router or installing it again. but it doesnt work.
I had bought three modems but when i connect them through wifi they are connected but shows no internet acess.so i am using bsnl brdbnd through wire.but iwant to connect through netgear DGN1000. WIFI
Everything worked fine until I went to move my desk to a different area and had to unplug everything. Upon plugging everything back up - my desktop internet works fine, but the laptop says "Connected but no internet access". I've tried working on it for 2 hours unplugging and replugging cords back up and I can't get any internet access on my laptop. I am using a cable modem. Currently I have the blue ethernet cord running from the modem, directly into my computer. I also have a grey cord that apparently was plugged into the router somehow but I don't remember how exactly I had this one plugged up. The cable modem only has one jack, for "ethernet". The router is a Linksys WRT54G and has 4 numbered (1-4) jacks in the back and then one jack for "internet". The laptop is running Windows 7, and the desktop (which the internet runs fine on right now) is running Vista.
Current set up all worked fine for years (wireless Netgear router, ISP AOL ) until I changed my phone provider to AOL last week. On the day of the switch I lost my internet and have not had it since.Countless calls to AOL, line checks done and all showing as clear. Technician out today and no internal faults found. The internet light on the router is flashing orange, occassionally turning green but not holding. Router problems have been ruled out. Laptop shows communication with router but there is no internet access. This can not be a coincidence, I am sure something has gone wrong on the day of the switch since that is when the problem started.I am in really close range of the exchange and technician said I have good conectivity and wondered if there was a conflict issue somewhere.
