So, i just got a new computer from a friend of mine.It is a couple years old running Vista, but i keep having this problem.I can connect to either of my routers, and i will be fine for about 5-10 mins before it disconnects me from Skype or Yahoo or whatever webpage i am on.The connection icon in the corner doesn't say it is disconnected, but everything disconnects.
View 2 RepliesThe problem is basically that my home wifi runs from a router that renews its IP adress every hour or so, and I keep getting disconnected from the Internet for 15 mins. or so every single time and then again not always; sometimes a page fails to load and then the connection is re-established a moment afterwards - it's very random.
The odd thing is that while my desktop Pc gets disconnected for long peiods of time my PS3, phone and laptop all seem to be able to reconnect during other periods of time where the desktop is unable. Also my parents and sister seem to be disturbed in different intervals. This makes me think that besides the annoying short disconnection on every device, my wifi adapter might cause the desktop additional problems reconnecting.
I'm using a Netgear WG111 v3 adapter. I should probably note that when I was running Windows 7 it already gave me trouble installing drivers and I had to run compatibility mode for Vista, and now with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit I had even more trouble, installer crashing and me having to manually go to the Device Manager and search for the install data for the driver. It's only been causing me problems since I bought it and though it works as I write this there is no way for me to know if it goes offline again or not in the next second.
I've recently reformatted my Pc and that didn't change a thing in this context and I've also been in contact with my Internet provider (the largest of such in Denmark, where I live), and they are the ones that told me that the router needs to reaquire a new IP every now and then for security reasons.
i have a desktop that tends to disconnect at random moments, and the only way to fix this problem is to restart for every time the internet disconnects. It is a wired connection and this desktop is the only computer in the house that has this problem.

Wireless now works without the dongle. I have no wired connection as it says "Media Disconnected." If I look in device manager, everything is working fine. I have looked on the net & tried a lot of checking various things but still no connection on lan. This is on an old laptop a advent 7109A. It was working fine on all connections until I upgraded.
View 19 Replies View RelatedMy computer is a desktop in a differet part of the house, away from the main computer. My computer is hooked up with an AE1000 Wireless USB. This USB is wirelessly connected to a Netgear Extender (Repeater) for a better signal strength. This Repeater is wirelessly connected to the router on the other side of the house, plugged into the main computer.
So my problem is, when im working on my computer or gaming on my free time, it randomly disconnects. My signal has a (!) inside of a triangle at the bottom right of my screen. I run the automatic troubleshoot on my Win 7, and it says either "DNS server not responding" or "Your computer is working properly, but some of your devices are not responding". Other times it works just fine and i run troubleshoot alot and it doesnt find a problem. Some days its running at 144 Mbps others 6.5...
I have checked that all of the devices are uptodate. .I've contacted GeekSquad and they said there was no problem. But obviously for them to connect to my computer the wireless has to be working, so they didnt find anything because it worked for the time being.I'm just woundering are there any capability issues with my wireless? Or any other problems im not aware of?

When it drops, all of my IP connectivity stops (pings fail, RDP sessions "await reconnection", etc...). The lower right corner still shows I'm connected to the hidden WPA2 Enterprise SSID. The only way to reconnect is to select disconnect on it, then click connect again. Immediately everything IP based starts working.
There is a 5508 controller in the headquarters. The site I am at has a 30mbps fiber point to point WAN to the headquarters. This site has 2 x 3300 series LAPs which are very good coverage. H-REAP mode is on so traffic terminates at the local office because it is more efficient than traversing the LAN twice for things like local file and print sharing, dhcp, proper active directory sites and services mapping, etc.
ok so my moms computer (compaq fs7600) had vista an it went nuts so i wiped it an installed xp pro. Everything went fine but now it wont connect to the internet =/. I've used Malwarebytes and no luck. It tells me the SSID etc but when I connect to it, it becomes an unidentified network and has no internet connectivity. This problem only occurs on my laptop via wifi, wifi still works fine on other computers and my phone so I assume it is a problem on my laptops end. Also my laptop can connect to other wireless networks, ie my schools public network, and they work fine. I'm running windows 7 home premium.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe modem connects to a D-Link DIR-655 which connects to a computer (Vista) and a switch, the switch then connects to another computer (Win7) and an xbox. the problem is that the vista computer will randomly connect and disconnect from the internet/ network. The vista computer also generally runs very slow on the internet. The Win7 computer runs perfectly and there is never an issue, so I'm wondering if the problem has to do with the vista computer not being connected to the switch? It is not an issue with the router, I have tried two already and the same issue occurs.the vista computer is running with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R which has a Realtek 8111C LAN chipset.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently decided to set up my xp pc again in my bedroom. Set up everything and it wont connect to the router or see my other pc. The router and PC don't seem to see it either. So far I've made sure the Workgroup's are named the same. I've tried allowing it to obtain it's own IP as well as setting a manual default setting. When I allow it to obtain it's own IP I get a limited connectivity error. If I set default settings that error goes away but I still can't get online still or see the rest of the network. It will only ping itself. Pinging yahoo.com, my other PC or other ip addresses time out. Also there are no device errors in device manager. Everything says it's operating correctly. I've tried resetting default settings on the router. I've unplugged and replugged in everything, powering on modem/router/pc. Nothing seems to work.
The problem computer is an AMD Athlon (64) 3500+ 2.2ghz with 1g ram running Windows XP Media Center Edition version 2002 service pack 3. The Router is a Linksys BEFSR41. The Ipconfig /all for it is below:

Small office setup with a wireless modem/router. We have two computers that are identical HP Pavilion a6807c PCs running Vista Home Premium. Other computers in the office are a bit older and run either XP or Vista.Just purchased a new HP Officejet 7000 printer and connected it via a USB to one of the HP Pavilion Vista computers (which I will refer to as HP1). The printer works fine on HP1 using the direct USB connection.Set printer sharing, file sharing, and even public sharing on both HP computers (HP1 and the other one I will refer to as HP2). Workgroup name is the same. Can access HP1 and see the HP printer on HP1 from other computers in the office. However, when I try to connect to the printer from HP2 to HP1, it locks up HP1 and HP1 requires a hard reset. I tried installing the software/drivers on HP2, but HP2 still tries to install the drivers from HP1.I am not sure its a problem with HP1 as much as it is a Vista issue. The reason I say this is because I have been able to successfully use an XP computer (XP3) to connect and print to the Officejet on HP1.

All attempts to access the network fail (ping, local shares, http) and other machines cannot access this one. Network & Sharing Center shows a fault between the Home Network and the internet, however I am unable to Ping or be Pinged by other computers on the Home Network. Other machines on the network are working fine both wired and wireless, although the machine in question is wired only (no wireless NIC).

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife is using a laptop (wireless) and I am using a custom built PC. We have AT&T DSL I believe its a 6mb connection. Anyways, only sometimes when my wife is surfing the net do we both get disconnected. i have a 2wire Gateway (I thought it was also a modem/router). It doesn't seem to DC us when shes playing like xbox games (windows 8 on the ultrabook)...but when she gets on the internet it does it..but not all the time. I was thinking maybe it was DCing because we were putting to much on the gateway.
Desktop: Using ethernet...custom built PC (previous pc was a HP...same issue)

my internet modem dc quite often i mean sometimes its 1 or 2 hours sometimes its not, so we are planning to switch the modem soon, but before that i found out something strange, its like in order for us to reconnect back to internet we have to reset the modem, heres the thing. after reset, my brother's pc will immediately connects back to teh internet, but mine pc wouldnt, i meanmy skype will work i can tlk to my friends on it and such, but i have to wait for like 5 mins or so to resume back to the net on firefox/ other internet dependent program, just not skype though.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have brought a broadband connection from a local ISP called YouBroadband. (I am from India, if you are wondering.) For the first month of my plan, I was having internet connection without any issues. But since 2nd month, I am experiencing a very strange problem. When I turn on my PC and connect to internet by entering my password, I do so without any problem. But after a few mnutes of connectivity, I loose my connection. Even stranger is the fact my Windows 7 Ultimate edition does not recognise this. It still shows connected sign in the notification area. But I am not able browse any more using any browser. to solve the problem, I start network troubleshooting, which in a few seconds shows, resetting 'Local Area Connection 2' and then I am able to log in again. At times this solution also doesn't work. All i can do at that time is shut down my PC, wait a few minutes and restart again. To my extreme dismay, this keeps happening over and over again. I connect, get disconnected, reconnect and again disconnect. This is terribly disturbing and annoying.
I have searched on Google with no success. Every 5 minutes or so I keep getting disconnected from the internet for about 30 seconds. It gives me the error "Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address." This is in Google Chrome. This occurs when i'm playing Star Wars: the Old Republic.
