My internet is randomly disconnecting every once in a while. It seems to be at random intervals of 30 minutes to two hours. While it is disconnected my modem lights are still on and it says that I am connected to the internet.I am wired directly to a modem from my computer.

The problem is that the internet is running fine but at random intervals it starts to not send or receive any packets. This will usually cause my to disconnecting during a game causing other players inconvenience. After I d/c the internet will usually take 5-30 seconds to start sending and receiving packets again and regain connection.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a WBR-1310 router that for the past few weeks has been giving me 'limited access' issues at psuedo-random intervals. The router functioned perfectly for a long time, I dug it out of storage about 8 months ago, and up until Christmas it was working fine, then both my roommate and I got tablets. Now our router is supporting 6 devices (PS3, 360, lappy, 2 tablets, smartphone) and occasionally more (other peoples phones, roommates laptop once he gets it repaired). However my research online has led me to believe that I should be able to support near unlimited wireless devices on the network (though effectively only around 30). Still, these extra two tablets are the ONLY change to the network that happened immediatly prior to this problem starting.Now I find that when I'm home alone I can go for the whole day with no network issues, but as soon as my roomy gets home and starts to use his devices the network craps out. unplugging the router and modem for 30 seconds fixes the problem temporarily, though the time before it craps out again ranges from hours to minutes.
I CAN plug my lappy into the modem directly when the router is not functioning and still have internet access, so it's definitely the router with the issue.All devices except for the PS3 are using wireless. I've done a hard reset to the router and set it back to factory settings on two occasions, I've changed the SSID and passphrase to get others off the network, I've changed the security type twice, I've tried some suggestions for similiar problems online such as enabling 'gaming mode' on my routers homepage, and setting a custom IP address (I used 10.0.0.1).Over the last 72 hours or so (the problem has existed for a few weeks) I've also received a few messages about my laptop having an IP address conflict; unsure if that is related, but I'm still able to access the internet when I get that message (albeit slower than average) [code] I will update this with another ipconfig the next time my internet dies; which I'm sure will be sometime today.
Wired PC randomly disconnects from network at random intervals each dayoday it has done so 3 times. The only way I have found to get it working again is to reset the router which can be inconvenient. All is working for a few months now, but since the initial deployment we have this connectivty issue regarding ACS and MS AD. At random intervals, 1 month/1 week, the ACS connection status becomes "DISCONNECTED" although the CLI shows that ad client is running. But because of that, no RA VPNs can be authenticated. Clock is not a problem, since it didn't change automatically nor was manually configured prior to the malfunction.

We've seen it reboot at least 5 today alone (and the time is currently just a little over 1pm).I'm having trouble finding the reason for these reboots in the router's logs, although I find these two lines repeating in the error log:

I'm not sure why these messages pop up, since we're not using the bandwidth limiter module of the router (granted, we do use QoS profiles to ensure our own LAN is prioritized over the guest VLAN). I'm also not sure whether this is related to the router reboots.

The router is currently running on firmware version 1.0.4.17 (latest official release), since we needed support for hairpin connections (as I found out in a previous thread of mine). I've seen the suggestion of downgrading to a previous firmware version in another thread, which has possibly solved it for the poster in that thread, but as we really need the hairpinning support, I don't know which firmware version is safe enough to downgrade it to, if needed.
Router is connected to my ISP with the option Keep alive and redial value of 20 seconds (the lowest i can set). There are two distinct problems: Router drops connections at random intervals. It can happen once a day or several times a day. It always happens overnight (so every morning it isn't connected). This doesn't seem to be related to ISP as direct connection to computer is stable.The Keep alive option isn't working. When it drops connection it isn't trying to re-eastablish it for at least 2 minutes (the longest i have waited so far, 6 times the redial value configured). Producing external traffic (e.g. constant pinging of some host by IP address, refreshing some web page) doesn't work. When i log on to admin console (browser based) simply clicking connect button brings connection back online. I've even been looking at status page constantly refreshing to see if it ever made a single attempt and it appears it didn't.I did my "homework" before posting (upgraded FW to 2.0.02 build 3, finetuned MTU).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the Qwest/Actiontec Q1000 modem/router. I go to the ip address using my web-browser and open up advanced configurations -> access scheduler. I select a computer (and it automatically adds the MAC address) and then the days/times I want the internet to be accessible. However, when I click "add" (to add my internet allowance to the scheduler list) it just says 12:00 to 0:00, which is essentially permanently blocking the internet for that computer.

Anyways, only sometimes when my wife is surfing the net do we both get disconnected. i have a 2wire Gateway (I thought it was also a modem/router). It doesn't seem to DC us when shes playing like xbox games (windows 8 on the ultrabook)...but when she gets on the internet it does it..but not all the time. I was thinking maybe it was DCing because we were putting to much on the gateway.
Desktop: Using ethernet...custom built PC (previous pc was a HP...same issue)

my internet modem dc quite often i mean sometimes its 1 or 2 hours sometimes its not, so we are planning to switch the modem soon, but before that i found out something strange, its like in order for us to reconnect back to internet we have to reset the modem, heres the thing. after reset, my brother's pc will immediately connects back to teh internet, but mine pc wouldnt, i meanmy skype will work i can tlk to my friends on it and such, but i have to wait for like 5 mins or so to resume back to the net on firefox/ other internet dependent program, just not skype though.

ISP: Wow! Cable - 15/1Mbps
Modem: Motorola SB6121 (new)
Router: D-Link DIR-655 (new) Firmware 2.00NA
When the internet disconnects:
- Both the LAN & the WAN are affected, but I do not lose any wireless connectivity with the router itself.
- I am able to log into the router wirelessly but cannot access the modem.
- If I plug my laptop directly into the modem, I can connect to the internet.
- When I reboot (using the on/off switch on the surge protector), everything comes back up.
There are a couple of other wireless routers nearby with fairly strong signals, but they appear to be running on different channels.
My phones are DECT 6.0, so there shouldn't be any interference problems with those.
I've been poking around this forum, and have already made some setting changes that seem to be consistently recommended:
- Ensured DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual
- Turned off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
- Turned off Advanced DNS Services
- Turned on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
- Ensured devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.
- Using mixed G and N signal mode
- My security setting is WPA-Personal. WPA2-PSK
I have Windows XP Pro SP3. After a random period of maybe 30 mins to a few hours, my internet connection seems inexistant. PC reacts like there is no internet cable plugged in. I've checked the ipconfig command in command prompt before my internet shuts down and after and there was a change. A few lines(IPs) were missing after my internet fell.

When I get the lag spikes, everyone who is using my internet, also gets it the same time as me. So my computer is not the problem.For example: I am just running, shooting people (online), and then, randomly, people are running on the spot for like 3 seconds, and then they teleport somewhere in front of them. For the first month of my plan, I was having internet connection without any issues. But since 2nd month, I am experiencing a very strange problem. When I turn on my PC and connect to internet by entering my password, I do so without any problem. But after a few mnutes of connectivity, I loose my connection. Even stranger is the fact my Windows 7 Ultimate edition does not recognise this. It still shows connected sign in the notification area. But I am not able browse any more using any browser. to solve the problem, I start network troubleshooting, which in a few seconds shows, resetting 'Local Area Connection 2' and then I am able to log in again. At times this solution also doesn't work. All i can do at that time is shut down my PC, wait a few minutes and restart again. To my extreme dismay, this keeps happening over and over again. I connect, get disconnected, reconnect and again disconnect. This is terribly disturbing and annoying.
I have searched on Google with no success. I tried changing DNS server settings and put Google open DNS address as my preferred DNS server but that didn't solve the problem too.( I received this tip from a friend of mine.) Every 5 minutes or so I keep getting disconnected from the internet for about 30 seconds. It gives me the error "Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address." This is in Google Chrome. This occurs when i'm playing Star Wars: the Old Republic.

(all of this happened in a computer store) I never had internet problems before the reformat, however it has happened to me before when I had previous, newly reformats on my pc which usually goes away after 2-3 months. here is the problem, the internet is fine when I start using it and after an hour or two it will disconnect and when I troubleshoot it, it will just say "DNS server isn't responding" and what I do is turn the modem off and turn it back on and the internet will come back after 10-20 seconds. so basically my internet is fine and will just go down then to fix it I just have to turn the router off and on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I bought a new PC to replace an old laptop that I use in my bedroom. However, initially I couldn't pick up my downstairs router signal. So, I bought a new wireless network card and STILL didn't pick up any signal. I then purchased a Netgear WN200RPT and everything seemed to be ok while using that to repeat the signal up into my bedroom. Then, suddenly, it all stopped working. The WN200RPT would, although showing a full internet connection with no yellow ! or red x's, it would never ever load webpages. So, I removed it and put it back in its box. Then, for some unknown reason after a Windows 7 reinstall, my network card started picking up the signal from my home router and had a good speed and signal. This worked fine for a month or two before it started playing up again. It would randomly slow down and stop loading webpages, or completely lose the signal and show a red x, stating that no signals could be found. The strange thing is, all the other PCs in my house connect wirelessly fine, and so did the laptop that was in the same room as this PC. After a system restore, the internet started working again. Then it stopped. Another restore later, it works. Now it's intermittent again.

I don't get the "your network cable has been unplugged" message, it just stops working for a second or two and starts working again. This has been happening for a few months after a fresh install of windows xp and I haven't really tried to fix it.Every other computer in the house is fine except this one, it can't be the modem because a new one was installed a few days ago and its the same problem. The router was reset within the last week as well. I think the problem is with this computer alone but I don't know where to look. The problem didn't happen for a few days after I put a new network card in, but soon after it continued happening. I also have tried a few different CAT5 cables, even the XBOX one but nothing resolved the issue.

Now it just drops connection and is down for about a minute and then I can reconnect or reload a webpage.I have my xbox live and PC wired with a laptop wireless. It drops everything at the same time everytime. I hardwired my xbox to the modem and gamed all day. I would assume this could eliminate the modem as an issue. There isnt any inconsistencies with the router's colour or lights to my knowledge either.
I put a new Ethernet cable from modem to router to try and I thought it fixed the problem but it lasted problem free for about 6 hours then it crashed.
I have a Windows Seven desktop that will disconnect from the internet ( It has a Ethernet cable directly to the router ) after sitting still for a few hours.my laptop has a Wifi card and works even when the Desktop doesn't.

The thing is, when it is disconnected, the adsl lamp is still on, so I think that it is not the network problem. When internet lamp turns off , I try to turn off the device (or unplug the phone cable), then turn it on again (or re-plug the cable), and it will work for certain minutes, then gets disconnected again. I already upgraded the firmware to v 1.00.12.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe are running WLAN using WPA2-enterprise with AES & IAS server.Mostly we are using AP's 1131 and Cisco WLC 4400.I added on a new location 2 AP 1142G and since the installation I got 3-4 clients having regular disconnections.Basically they are connected immediately to the infrastructure but after a certain amount of time the Win7 icon is having this yellow exclamation sign, and we can see that the connectivity is gone (however the IP settings seems to be still in place, but ping or network browsing is not possible).Stopping the WLAN and starting it again solve immediately the issue (via software or via the notebook switch). Normally the problem doesn't resolve by itself.
