I got a Studio 1535 Laptop which comes with a Broadcom WiFi card that is named "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card" in the Hardware Manager.
I tried to connect to my ZyXel WiFi router but though i had it all configured right, Windows would always come up with "you entered the wrong key". After playin around for some time i figured out that everything just works fine when i switched my router from WPA-PSK to WPA2-PSK. My router features both WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK but since my other PC does only support WPA-PSK the router is set to that and i want it to stay that way. I just don't want to buy new hardware for all my other computers.
So is this WiFi card strictly incompatible with WPA-PSK? Does'nt make any sense to me because WPA2 works just fine! Normally they are downwards compatible aren't they? (Moreover, when setting up a connection i can choose WPA-PSK from the dropdown menu.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1564 with the Dell 1397 WLAN Mini-Card. How do I use its Wi-Fi abilities to connect to the Internet?
Do I need a wireless router with a modem built in? Do I have to use a service provider, i.e. Bell, to make the connection and
therefore pay more service charges per month? Is "Linksys" a good name in routers? Should I buy the router at one of the big box retailers?

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows 7 and a PC with XP. The Laptop has Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card, i think it supports 802.11g. My PC has DLINK DWA 525 PCI WIRELESS card, this supports 802.11g and n. The wireless router is Belkin Surf Wireless Router (F7D2301zb).
Now, the problem i'm facing is when PC is connected first and later when laptop is connected, the computer gets disconnected. Laptop works fine. I have to restart the router to connect both.
Is it due to the difference in 802.11 G and N of Laptop and PC ?

Im having problems staying connected to my internet. I have Verizon Fios router that is wired into this desktop i also have 2 laptops and now im trying to connect a second desktop wirelessly to the router. My Netgear Rangemax PCI picks up the signal at 68% and connects to the router. But periodically it disconnects from the router and i click connect to a network icon and it shows that i have no wireless internet as if no PCI card is installed so i wait a min then it shows up again and windows network diagnostic kicks in and "resets the network adapter" and all is well for about 15min till it disconnects again.

I own a small computer repair company and sold a lot of dell d610 Laptops with a wlan card "air mp-20b" installed. Subsequently three of my customers had hard drive issues and they had to be replaced. To no avail Dell had no drivers for this card and I can't get a straight answer from Cisco on this model or reference it for a software download. What is the actual model that Cisco uses for this device.

I have a Dell Inspiron 14R running Windows 7 64 bit. I have had my PC from this past November; about 7 months.
I was using my PC, and suddenly, I started to experience wireless problems. I was unable to get onto the internet. Other devices on my wireless network are able to log on to our network, although that is irrelevant because my radio wasn't picking up anything at all, when it always had from that same location. The connection worked fine using an ethernet cable. After the problem occurred, my Targus Bluetooth mouse also stopped working. This is what I have tried:
Going into Network and Sharing Center, disabling my network adapter, and then enabling it again. This usually does the trick. After doing it over 5 times, it never worked.
Doing a simple system restore. I attempted restoring 3 different times to an update within the last week, each of which failed (probably another issue altogether).
Re-installing my WLAN CARD Driver, and then restarting. This didn't solve the problem. Checking the Device Manager. It reported that the wireless card was running properly.Using the DW WLAN CARD Utility. It says under the Link Status tab, after Connection Status, Radio Disabled. I tried right-clicking the icon in my Notification Area, and then clicking Enable Radio. It then shows an alert saying "The WLAN card is still disabled. Use the wireless switch or hotkey to enable it." Pressing Fn + F2, which is also supposed to enable the radio, did nothing, with no action or sign whatsoever from Windows. I also tried running tests under the Diagnostics tab. All hardware tests passed, with the Connection test giving me this alert again: "The WLAN card is still disabled. Use the wireless switch or hotkey to enable it," and then failing. The same thing happened when running the CCX Client diagnostics.

when I browse for internal WLAN cards for my new desktop their interface is described as "PCI 32 bit", which is weird because expension slots on new desktop mobos are all PCIexpress.I know the PCIexpress's interface is physically different then PCI's, and that it carries 64 bits. So, will that work? Do you know internal cards that with PCIexpress interface?

My wlan card has been dodgy recently disconnecting and reconnecing but now does not work at all. It is no longer shown in device manager I installed the drivers for it from the disc that came with it and ones from the internet but no luck from what I've read online it says my laptop (advent 9617 - ancient i know) came with the Ralink RT73 USB Wireless.
It also keeps popping up "this device can perform faster is you connect to a high speed port" I took off the casing to have a look at it and I can't see any dodgy wires or connections unless its somewhere I can't see or get to. I just took it out and put it back in but no luck.
I can still get on through wired LAN but live in shared accomodation and it's a bit inconvenient when I'm trying to work. Oh and there's no router problems as my phone and housemates laptops connect fine.

I have a problem with the 1395 wlan mini-card. Windows would connect to my wireless network automatically, without a hitch. Then, I suddenly disconnect from my network for no reason. when I check the wireless manager, I can't find my own network, but I can still see other people's. About a minute after that, I can't detect any network, and I must restart my laptop to fix the problem. All other computer on my network does not experience this problem. The other computer does not even report being disconnected from the wireless network. Turning the bluetooth and wireless card switch off then on again does not solve it, nor does going into device manager and disabling then enabling the wireless card work. The only way is to restart the computer.
I just finished upgrading my OS on the latitude XT from Vista to windows 7. I formatted the hard drive before installing windows 7. This problem did not occur when I was using Vista, but it has occurred every time I boot up on windows 7. I have installed all the relevant drivers and my router is up to date on the firmware. The wireless network is encrypted using WPA2 AES, and has mac filter on, only allowing listed mac address to connect. It is broadcasting on channel 11.
I have used this computer for more than two years on Vista without this problem occurring, during which time I did several reinstall of Vista. Now, when I install windows 7 on it, this problem all of the sudden starts happening. I think it could be I forgot a driver or something, but I checked and rechecked, and did numerous reinstall of the mini-card driver to no avail.

Upgraded my D620 WLAN card from original 3965abg to 4965agn for wireless-n support. The card is correctly installed (w/ 3 antennas) and the driver installed correctly but there seems to be a conflict with Dell Quickset utility which gives the error "WiFi Catcher band is not compatible". Tried uninstalling the Dell Quickset, but not sure it completely removed everything. Installed Intel PROset/Wireless but still unable to connect. Could not find a Quick set version for Win7 - from what I have read, it seems the Vista version is noted that it does not support 4965agn.

I recently received the blue screen of death on my labtop so I used the system restore cd and wiped the entire hard drive clean. Afterwards I knew to extract the drivers from the drivers and utilities cd. I extraced the wlan card since this is what has been controlling my wireless at school and everywhere else. The little tower icon doesn't appear in my task box on the bottom of the screen nor is it anywhere where I can enable it. The only place I see the driver is in the add/remove folder in the control panel. Furthermore the blue light doesn't appear when I flip the switch to the on position.

When I click on the Wireless Network Connection icon it says "Wireless network unavailable." There's also an error message that says "The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is disabled. Use the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility to enable it." When I right click on the wireless network icon it says "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list, click 'Refresh network list.'" I don't have a wireless switch. I have a wireless enable icon and it says Enabled. My wireless network is working because my phone sees it and two other networks in the neighborhood. I couldn't find the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility. I also tried my iPhone hotspot. Laptop did not detect it either.

I have a Latitude E6400 that I had to rebuild due to a hard drive failure, with a Dell 1510 WLAN card installed. Upon reinstalling the Dell WLAN Card Utility however, I now receive the following prompt every time I log into my machine:“Reminder: The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is still disabled. Slide the Wireless ON/OFF switch to enable it.”
I am able to connect to wireless networks without any issues, and when enabled it works great. I do however like to keep my wireless radio off when I am not using it. I certainly don’t need the software to tell me that my WLAN card is disabled when I already know that it is. How do I disable this message from coming up each time I log in? I don’t see any options in the software to simply disable reminders, however I don’t want to disable the software from loading altogether.

So I just got this Linksys E1500 wireless N router in hopes that I would get a better signal within my room as opposed to my older router. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, in fact I think I'm getting weaker signals. My previous router was a D-Link WBR-2310. I went to speed test.net and tested 3 variables. My wifi on my desktop in my room, my wifi when right next to a router on my laptop, and my wifi using my neighbors wifi in my room.
What is the point of this new wireless N router, when it can't beat a G router older model in reach? And why does is have a 0.50 mb d/l speed but a 3.6 upload speed?

I recently re-installed the driver for the 1390 WLAN Mini Card after not having wireless for a few years, and have a few problems. In the Windows XP Home Network Connections folder, the Wireless Network Connection Icon shows, "Acquiring Network Address", but never gets past that. I ran a diagnostic in the "Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility" and the card passed all the tests, even though with the card switch in the on position the LED doesn't light (??)
When I right click on the Wireless Network Connection Icon and choose, "Status", in the "General" tab I can see that the card is sending out packets, but none are being received. In the "Support" tab under "connection status" the following appears: "Address Type": Invalid IP Address, "IP Address": 0.0.0.0, "Subnet Mask": 0.0.0.0, "Default Gateway": (nothing listed).
Background: I have a Desktop (no brand) and the Dell D820 connected with a Westell Modem and a D-Link WBR-1310 Router. Both computers work great connected to the Router with a cable. Both computers are running Windows XP Home.
The only thing I can think of (and I'm remembering this from 2007 when I purchased the Laptop and had a wireless set up for a short while), is that the Modem and Router were bridged, which is not the case now. Do they need to be bridged for the wireless connection to work? Is it not necessary anymore and something called "Double Netting" or something like that is used...

Cant' seem to find any updated drivers for this card. Just installed new AP's supporting wireless 'n', and can't seem to get the speeds past 54MBS. AP's are configured properly. Under the setting in device manager I can see the rate setting for 802.11(b/g), but not n. If this card is not 'n' compatiable why state that it is. Hoping to get an updated driver . Now that I have a Linksys N4200 router I want to upgrade the card that is in my 1735 Studio. Dell support suggested the 5100 Wireless-Network Mini-Card. That’sall well and good but looking at the picture on Dell site it is about half the size as the one that is in the computer which is a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN MiniCard. I don't think the 5100 will bolt in the slot, too short.
