View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new laptop and had a dlink DIR601 installed on an older laptop. I wasn't the one who got it set up originally but they did have me write down my SSID, password and security key. The dlink came with a cd but there is no cd rom on this laptop. I have tried reset, on line download (which only let me do the revisions). I have talked to a few people and they say it's easy!
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to hide Wireless SSID via Wireless controllers (one I am using is 5505)
Currently anyone can attmept to login to it as i cant find any options to hide it! Screen shot below)
what measures I should take to secure the APS and from access, currently considering port security and static mac addresses on ports; traffic is already got ACLS on its vlan. I have little to no experience on Wireless devices.
I have come across a new problem with our WAP4410N. I have set up multiple SSID's for various groups of people and guests at our company, the first and main SSID has set security properly at WPA2-Personal with a 63 character password. So I went ahead and setup the other 3 SSID's with the same security (just to initially get security going was planning on taking down one of them for guest account), but when I boot up my testing laptop, it shows that SSID's 2-4 have no security what-so-ever.
I have re-checked my settings in the Wireless Security tab and they are all still set with the passwords.
I am using: PID VID: WAP4410N-A V02Software Version: 2.0.4.2.
I have a Cisco AIR-AP1242AG-A-K9 Autonomous AP running firmware 12.4(25d)JA. I wish to set up multiple SSID's (2) each having their own separate security types. Both security types may end up being WPA2, but would have separate keys. I do not have a managed switch, the AP is connected to a "dumb" switch in an office environment, with no VLANS. Also this is only for 1 access point.
I have tried creating 2 SSID's, but my issue is that only one SSID will actually work at a time, meaning that only the native VLAN in the AP will actually allow wired traffic through it's SSID. How can I set up 2 different SSID's, with 2 independant security types and have them work simultaneously? Is this functionality supported by this AP?I feel that this is possible, as I can easily set this up on other access points from other manufacturers.
They keep changing SSID and Security. No one is reseting them. I have changed the password already.

Is it possible to assign a single ssid to multiple interface groups by assigning the ssid to multiple AP groups?
I have buildings geographically dispersed that are configured with multiple vlans in interface groups so that I can maintain an addressing scheme of dhcp assigned addresses per building. Each building is also further grouped as AP groups. I'd like to know if by assigning the same wlan ssid to each of the AP groups, will I maintain addressing integrity for each building? I'm thinking it will work.
Do the buildings have to be outside AP range of each other to avoid problems?

7.2.110.0 code

I have a Linksys WRT610N wireless system with WPA-PSK security and this works fine with several computers but now one computer detects the wireless security as WEP and can thus not connect to the router. I have tried to manually connect to the router with correct security WPA-Personal (TKIP) and correct password but then the computer says "settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".How can I get the computer to detect the correct security? The computer is running Windows 7 home premium.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a ASA 5505 that I test with which originally came with the Security Plus license. I recently erased flash and loaded the latest asa841-k8.bin version of IOS along with asdm-642.bin. Everything booted fine and came up as it does when freshly wiped however I noticed that i was now only running a base license. If I issue the sh activiation-key command, I noticed the following messages (full output is at the bottom):

Did I somehow kill my Security Plus licensing when I did the erase flash? If so how do I recover it?

I renamed my SSID to "CoolWifiName" so that it's not the router's generic name, but what if a neighbor in my building uses that same name and uses it as their SSID? Since I wouldn't know which is which, and I mistakenly try to type in my wifi password on their's, would they have access to my password and be able to capture it?
