I wanna change ip address 192.168.1.1 on Vista, but I couldn't find the Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) Properties according to the instructions, to the Local Area Connection Properties and nothing.I don't know whether it's because of the vista. What should I do to change ip address 192.168.1.1?
I am a Rogers Customer (Canadian isp) whch uses DHCP IP address. My set up is like so: SMCD3GN2 Modem with gateway and wireless mode disabled. (i'm using it as a pure modem) 2 of its 4 ports are active, one is connected to my pc directly and the other is conencted to a d-link router. The router is connected to 4 other pc's + some wireless devices. What I want to do is change my IP address ( the pc with the direct connection ) in windows 7. I can effectively do this by simply shutting the modem off for about 30 seconds. Luckily my isp pretty much continuously assigns me a new IP address every time I do this.
The issue is I don't want to disrupt my entire network ( the router ) With windows XP I used to be able to go into cmd and ipconfig/release, then go to my ipv4 settings and set a custom spam ip address/subnet and then go back to automatic and then ipconfig/renew and voila I would have a new IP address. With windows 7 I have no luck. I have tried spoofing/changing my mac address of my network card/adapter and it results in my modem not assigning me an IP address. Is there any efficient way to change my DHCP IP address in windows 7 without disrupting my entire network?
I just got a new computer at work and it has Windows 8 on it. My old computer ran on XP and was connected to two different computers with access to the My Documents folder on each computer. That is all I need access to. I have tried everything to get my new computer set up so that I can have access to those two folders as they are extremely important for my job. I mapped the network drives from both computers to my new one and they access to my computer. When I worked from the Windows 8 computer and tried to access those computers I received an error message saying that access was denied and to contact my network administrator. I have access to other folders on the XP and Vista computer except the folder that I need to get into. I have brought in two different people who do freelance work and neither one was able to figure this problem out. For four days that I have been unable to properly do my job and I have just been emailing files and documents to myself. The XP and Vista computer do not need networked together either.
I have a Dell Inspiron 530s desktop running Vista SP2. When I attempt to get online using a cable or a wireless USB adapter I get a self-assigned IP Address. When I manually add an IP and DNS addresses I can't get online also. I have removed my security software (webroot) and have disabled Windows Firewall. The same ethernet connection works on another one of my computers fine.
My laptop is unable to connect to the internet. It recognizes my wireless connection (public network) as "unidentified network" and Access: "Local only." I've tried using many other solutions but I still haven't found a way to fix this. My other laptops, computers, and gaming devices are able to connect to my linksys router except for this laptop. [code]
I have 2 computers, One running Vista 32, Desktop.Another, Laptop, Win 7 64bit.Both computers have given Error 651 when using PPPoE wired connections, usually at the peak of the day.My ISP says that Error 651 is the problem, while I am starting to think its the amount of bandwidth their giving my neighborhood/home.Also, can that dosen't work, how to fix the overall problem of my Internet shutting off at peak hours?
I have Virgin Media services, I had a problem with my cable, which an engineer was booked for, but it magically fixed itself, so I cancelled the engineer. The engineer turned up for the appointment, which I was out for, then urged me over the phone to keep his number, and call me if I had any problems. I got home an hour later and my modem wouldn't sync. My guess is he did something with it outside so he would still get paid for the job. I called him up, and he came round and instantly replaced my old Virgin modem (which I was using with my own Belkin wireless router) with a new Virgin (Netgear) hub.I'm giving this bit of background to demonstrate, everything was fine before. [code] Since getting the new hub, I set up the wireless connections on the laptop and console, and internet is working fine. However none of the devices can share with eachother. When I go to network on either computer, neither computer sees either computer. All the sharing settings that I had before are unchanged, all that has changed is my modem/router combo has been replaced by a hub.
I have my Windows 7 computer and my daughters computer with Windows Vista networked over a wired home LAN. For the most part, everything seems to work fine. I can access files on her computer, and she can access files from mine (photos, music, video, etc.). I set up a shortcut icons on her desktop for easy access to specific folders I am sharing on my computer. Unfortunately, when I share a folder on my computer, she is unable to view any files added after I initially shared it. So I routinely have to go in and share the folder again. It's not a huge issue, but it is annoying. The limitation seems to be one way, as I can access newly added files on her computer, without resharing.
I just reinstalled my windows vista 32bit laptop and installed all network driversRight now I am trying to connect with my ethernet cable (LAN). I clicked on network connections, the LAN is enabled and the driver name is shown but there is no connectivity. Also, the IPv4 and IPv6 is not connected
So my Dad got a new Windows 7 computer, and gave me his old windows vista. When we got his computer all hooked up, and hooked up the windows Vista next to it. My mom wanted to use it to check her email. she didnt download anything, but after she turned it off, and i turned it back on, the computer would not detect any type of internet activity. i put in a new ethernet card, and it still would not work. The sound on the computer has also stopped working. i checked windows audio service, and it says its running, and there is no detected problem with any of the hardware.
a friend of mine has a USB printer (no WiFi and no Ethernet port) and is trying to use the printer from two different computers, without success. He turned to me for advice but I'm not really much use with networks. He's got the printer wired via the USB to his Windows 7 computer and that can print fine. But his Windows Vista computer shows the printer as offline no matter what he does. Both computers connect wirelessly to a router and have working internet connections. Both computers have the drivers and software installed (Epson RX520) and if he connects the Vista computer directly the printer via USB it works fine too. Both computers have fille and printer sharing activated. He just can't get it all networked together. He says it all used to network fine when he had his old desktop running XP but since replacing it with a Windows 7 system it will only work on one Computer or the other, not both.
got a new laptop and want to move files from an old one. Both are on the same wireless network, with the old laptop with the files having Vista, and the new one has Windows 7.I tried right clicking a folder in Vistaand 'shared' it, but don't see it on the Win 7 laptop?
My sister and brother live next door to each other and althought they both use my sisters wifi they want to be able to homegroup or network via wifi without either of them having to use the adsl cable from the router to their laptops.. I tried setting both computers up on a homegroup network but they cannot look at each others music and documents my sister has Win 7 64bit and my brother has Win vista 32 bit ? The win7 is in English so it does not seem to hard to find things. I downloaded for my sister -Advanced IPscanner - and Netcut but netcut does not seem to work on 64 bit and the IPscanner recognizes my brothers computer but will not shut it off - they wanted to be able to know when the other is online and also be able to cut one another off when they choose to.
I have updated drivers or roll them back. Under computer, I right clicked on computer, then it shows like of hardware. Then I looked at date on driver and tried to update past june 27, 2006 or to roll many back . This increased my online speed but I could not get all drivers past that 2006 date & year, my computer thinks its the most updated version. It is not. This inability to change them or update still causes windows vista to be slower while operating. I guess I could buy the fix offered on web but I feel I shouldn't have to when I know the problem that microsolft built in. To bad microsoft isn't forth coming with an answer.
I am having trouble getting internet access on my daughters laptop. she has os vista while my pc is windows xp. keep getting connection unsuccessful...this computer is connected to dlink but does not have access to the internet. showing currently connected to unidentified network(dlink) access:local only. took it to a shop where the man connected to his internet straight away? This is what it says when i,ipconfig/all
I have just spent an hour with TalkTalk technical support being told that the new router they supplied today can only be used wirelessly for Vista or W7 but not both together. Am i going mad. Both connect to the router but my Vista laptop will not connect to the internet and will only show as an unidentified public network.
I borrowed a laptop from my sister while my laptop is out of commission. I've been trying to use the wifi, but the connection keeps dropping. I've tried following different pieces of advice from the internet, and I still can't get it working[CODE]
I am using Windows Vista.I work in a small office and our old computer guy set up our network. Not sure why, but he "hid" the two available wireless networks so they do not show up as available. How do I go about "unhiding" them? He left a folder on my computer that says "main router config" but it is a .bin file and I cannot open it. I did find out what our IP address is, but when I type it in the URL it does not show up.
