View 5 Repliesim deployment and we have hardwire internet in my room. wanting to use all other devices eg. iphone and what not i bought a router to plug the hardwire in to and run the wifi off the router for all devices. its made by TP-LINK the model is TL-WR940N. it worked great for a while but then kept giving me DNS server is not responding but i could plug the hard cable in my computer and the internet would work fine? so i reset the router and set it all up again like before. Now i cant get it to run wifi off it anymore it recognizes and connect through wifi but no internet and its telling me i need to plud the hardwire in to my internet but my computer is recognizing it and saying i have internet access, but no internet i mean its not even thinking if there is internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI originally bought the 615 router because my Net Talk telephone required it. The first Wi-Fi device I used is my Kindle Touch. I have been able to use the Wi-Fi several times since I received the Kindle, but there have now been two failures to connect. The first time I just unplugged the router power and connections, restarted the modem, and rebooted my computer. The Wi-Fi then worked. Now I am experiencing a failure to connect again.
I have noticed that when I restart my computer I have to connect to the internet directly by pulling the cable from the router and putting it from the modem to the computer. This seems to teach the router what it is supposed to do, because when I reconnect the modem to the router the internet starts to work immediately.I have tried changing the password to wireless internet, but my Kindle still will no longer connect. The router is about two years old. [code]No go to the devices and check to see if you see the new SSID name you gave in the router. I should be listed there. Select it and it should ask you for a password, enter the password you gave in the router. The only problem is that my modem does not exactly say "mixed G and N".
Is there a way to boost a wifi signal to a non detachable antenna pci wireless card?so i can get better signal of free access point,i don't want to go and buy another card with a detachable antenna, which i know i can do alot more to boost with these type of cards.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem for a while. I'd only get a dial-up icon with a red cross after startup or diagnostics, and no wireless networks could be detected. So I installed the HP wireless assistant, and restarted the laptop. It started working fine. Today, the icon went yellow with limited access, so I ran troubleshooting. And the problem was back. The dial-up icon reappeared, and the wireless assistant showed the WLAN was disabled. I checked the device manager. The wifi link 5100 AGN had a yellow mark on it, and in properties tab, it said ' the device is not working '. I scanned for hardware changes, and the 5100 AGN disappeared ! I restarted my laptop, and now its nowhere to be seen. Even the wireless assistant now shows only 'Bluetooth' as a connection.

I'm planning to replace my flaky minipcie wifi and I need advice about the antenna. My laptop has two sets of antenna, one for 3G WWAN and the other is for normal wifiAccording to the labels, both is "Main" and "Aux". The card that I'm planning to get is an Intel 5300 which has 3 antennas.Since the normal wifi only has two antennas, can I use the 3G WWAN as a third antenna? If yes, should I plug in the "Main" or the "Aux"? If no, Should I buy those additonal antennas in Ebay for the 3rd one?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the awus 1k awus036h wifi usb adaptor with the crappy stock 2db antenna. I was told by some randomer on a forum that getting a larger antenna doesn't increase the power output of the adaptor. IIRC this is directly against what I've read in the past but I forgot where so am unable to say one way or the other. I remember reading that the larger the antenna the more microwaves it radiates.Plus would it make it a health concern? Currently I have my adaptor in the other room maybe 2-3 metres from me separated by a plaster wall. enna I can if it is deemed safe or as much so as before pretty much since I have been using it for a while w/o probs. I was thinking of getting something in the range of 10db-14 db- maybe even going for an outdoor antenna but keeping it inside so long as it is affordable which they seem to be.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tested each antenna separately. With each antenna attached one at a time the left and right antenna is giving me -20 signal. The center is only giving me -65 signal. Is this a problem with the router or normal? I noticed that the center pin is pushed in more then the left and right. Don't know if that is the cause.

It's working but the access point only reports about 50% signal strength over 20 feet (and only 1 wall) so I would have expected better. I've tried turning the box a couple of different ways but didn't see any big difference in the reported signal strength.
This may sound ignorant but I cannot get either of the antennas off my 615. They are listed as removable reverse SMA but they are so tight I am afraid of damaging it. This is my second 615 after not being able to get one of the antennas off the first. D-link said they should just unscrew but I cannot get either of them to budge. D-link support said the one I had first must have been manufactured wrong so I returned it to new egg and got a new one. Same issue. I need to have an external antenna on the unit.

In remote areas, I use Virgin-Mobile's MC760 Broadband2Go antenna to provide Broadband to my netbook. This ISP service requires that you "sign in" with username and password to initialize the BB transmission. I would like to use my TL-MR3020 to host the Virgin-Mobile's Broadband2Go MC760 antenna to provide a wireless hotspot, instead of the hardwired direct-computer connection I have. I've gone thru the MR3020 quick setup with the MC760 but been unable to get it to connect. We need to configure the AP in such a way, only 1 antenna to be used & not other two, to meet some mounting requirements/limitations. Will I be able to do this using any test/debug commands?
Essentially I want this AP to be operating in 1x1 spatial stream, & with no antenna diversity, so that I can connect only 1 antenna & be deterministic about AP using only connected Antenna RF port & not others
With out configuring anything, when I connect only 1 Antenna, I observed that signal is fluctuating on Client Application & causing the applications traffic stream disconnect.

I bought this router to replace my WNDR3700v1 (by Netgear).Although on short distance the Netgear is outperformed, on the other site of the house the 2,4GHz signal is lost often (where the Netgear would still work). Both routers are located on the same location (not simultaneously) and settings are identical (channel, band, security, etc.).
I was wondering if I could get more performance out of the TP-Link by positioning the antennas in different angles. All antennas were positioned vertically and I also tried having the outer antennas under 30 degrees.
Anybody know of a extension cable for this product? D-Link 14dBi Outdoor Direct Antenna (ANT24-1400) I need at least 10-15 feet of extra length.

1. 5GHz 30dBi Outdoor Grid Parabolic Antenna TL-ANT5830B
2. 2.4GHz 24dBi Grid Parabolic Antenna TL-ANT2424B
because N750 is Dual Band Router [2.4GHz 300Mbps and 5GHz 450Mbps]. so, which one is best with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

A few days ago my internet suddenly stopped working. I plugged in the ethernet cord and everything worked fine. Checking the properties in the device manager showed the device was working properly, I also tried resetting it to make sure it was enabled but it did not work.
Upon troubleshooting, the "Windows Network Diagnostic" said the problems was that the Wireless adapter was not turned on. Using the switch on the front of the laptop as well as the function keys does nothing. Usually a graphic pops up showing if the WiFi is on or off, changinging transparent to show the WiFi is disabled. Now when I turn the switch on it always appears transparent, effectively going from off to off
So I know the computer reads both the function keys and the switch on the front but both methods never actually turns the adapter on. I just finished a system restore and nothing has changed
Today, while surfing the web my internet connection on my PC just randomly shuts off. I go check on my laptop and its normal. My WiFi says that I am connected to an Unidentified network with no internet access. So i got frustrated and checked all the forums and nothing seemed to work. So i restored my computer to factory settings and I still got this problem. Does this mean my Wifi Card is bad? Is it a virus? I can see other networks fine but i just cant connect to mine!

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been using wifi on my laptop for 3 years with the same router and all of a sudden today it decided to stop working. Other computers can connect to the D-Link router just fine using wifi.
I tried restarting 3 times and that didn't fix anything. I try to repair the connection and it tells me it failed.
I'm using Windows Vista on the laptop.
I have a DIR-655 that I have been using for a while (b1 revision). and suddenly I noticed my wifi speed fluctuates constantly. My lenovo Y580 sees speed drop to 130 immediately and then it can slowly progress to 1 Mbps until the hardware is all rebooted. Same happens to my Nexus 7, Dell XPS M1530 and to my roku. I have updated to 2.07 (since 2.10 is advised to avoid). And I have attempted changing channels or factory refresh. What Firmware version is currently loaded? 2.07What region are you located?
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? Cable (link speed independent of internet speed)What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router? Separate Motorola ((link speed independent of modem)What ISP Modem make and model do you have? Does not matter, router issue. If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. Not bridged
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic. Independent of issue, not a factor
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing. Wired works perfect.Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Cat6 is recommended. Wireless issue.
ok,I have a wifi connection to a working router, three other wifi devices are working fine wirelessly, and the computer that cant get date from the internet works when I plug into the router via ethernet cable. I get sent packets but zero 0 received packets, every thing was fine and the only thing I have done recently is get an iphone4 and spend some time getting it personal hot spot to work. I have tried:rebooting, removing firewall ( Norton), repairing connection, setting up new connection, swearing at the screen all to no avail
