My friend's computer can connect to it but mine doesn't detect it even when the router is really close it's a 50 Mbps so I at least dont think it's the speed problem. My driver is Dell Wireless 1490 Dual Band Mini-card.
View 1 RepliesIm running windows 7 home premium. I have a Dell Latitude D360. My laptop will connect at home or at family's wifi however it will not connect at school. There are two available wifi connections and it will not connect to either. I have followed my university's instructions to connect to the internet but no good. When I run troubleshooter the error says "unable to configure ip address" or something along those lines. I have reinstalled the network adapter, changed firewall setting. I have tried just about anything I can think of.

I looked up similar problems on this blog: a) cleared the DNS cache, b) downloaded windows XP- service pack 3, & 3 network software recommended for my laptop by Dell from the website and updated to the Intel PROSET/Wireless WIFI connection utility, d) ran ipconfig/all from C prompt and know the ethernet connections are disabled, e) called and checked with our local ISP and cleared the connection from their end. To sum it, I have tried everything I know and am still not able to maintain a steady connection to the net using WIFI. However I am able to connect using the cable to the router, so my net provider said the problem is with the wireless connection on the laptop. I didnt have this problem before.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi received a dell latitude D610 and installed the operating system and the drivers, when i open the network adapters in device manager it says i have the Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx gigabit controller. when i try to connect to the internet with a cable it works fine but it wont let me detect wireless networks or if i unplug the cable an error pops up saying A network cable is unplugged i dont know if i have the right driver(s) installed.

However, only the wireless connects, not the wired connection. When I plug an ethernet cable in, the computer does not recognize the cable, and tells me a cable is unplugged...which of course it isn't.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI haven't installed anything new lately, nothing that would affect the wireless, but my wireless suddenly stopped working. My wireless has been working successfully for the past 2 years no problems till now. I have a Dell Latitude E6410 my computer is running Windows 7 32bit. When I open up the DW WLAN Card Utility it says "There are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled. Please enable any available wireless adapters before accessing this configuration utility. I tried reinstalling drivers for the wireless but my computer says "no compatible hardware found".
Also the under the wireless adapters section of Device Manager there isn't an adapter for wireless, but there is an unknown device.

I can't turn on the Wifi switch (Fn + F2) and then I realized its possible it doesn't have a driver so I downloaded the Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller so far and its still not working. Here is the what is on my device manager.

I have a Dell Latitude D610 and my problem is that the wifi light won't come on. I've done the Fn+F2 thing and all that is enabled is bluetooth. I've gone to dell's site and updated drivers and done basically everything I've seen others do on forums. What's interesting is that once in awhile, my wifi light comes on and my wifi will work for maybe 30 seconds and then it disappears. When i go to device manager, my broadcom 802.11g adapter sometimes shows up but usually it isn't there. So it's not there with a yellow exclamation mark over it; when it is on there it's fine but it's hardly there ever. I've even removed the wireless card and reconnected it to see if it'd work but no luck.

I'm completely baffled why this has happened. I was using it the previous night, streaming some music on Spotify, then I turned it off as normal, and when I tried using the internet the next day...nothing. The bluetooth light is lit as normal but the WiFi light stays off, and I've tried turning the external switch on/off to no avail.

I was able to start it again using the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD for XP Professional with SP1, that came with another computer. I then installed a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8. However the wifi (wireless) does not work. I went to setup and assured that it is enabled. I assume that I have lost the driver for it. Before the crash it had a working wireless connection. I need to know what driver to install to make it operate. Setup indicates that my computer has a MiniPCI card 1370 Broadcom Corp.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into the dorms of my college and tried connecting my laptop to the internet using an ethernet cable. It worked, so I decided to try and play Xbox Live through the use of the ethernet cable and it did not work. After messing around with it and failing to get it to work for my Xbox 360, the ethernet decided to quit working for my computer as well. (To try and get my Xbox to connect to the internet with the ethernet cord, I tried network bridging by bridging the ethernet connection with the wireless connection, then unplugging the ethernet cable from the wall so as to connect it from my laptop to Xbox 360. This didn't work so I just deleted the bridge. This is when the problem started happening as the local connection stopped appearing.) I am able to plug it in and see that in the Network and Sharing Center, however, it shows up as being unplugged. After a couple seconds though, it disappears. If I click on it fast enough, it shows up with an Error Code 45 after looking at the properties. I have tried typing in ipconnfig /all and the ethernet connection doesn't show up there either.

For some reason, whenever I connect a ehternet cable to my computer, I cannot seem to get internet connection through it. Some days ago I installed this Wireless Lan device from a CD, that came with a sort of antenne I had to put on my computer. It works great, BUT its slow. This seems to be an issue with the range, or something, since if i move the computer right next to the router, it runs at about 50-60mbit. Now a few days ago i decided to get an ethernet cable to try and solve the issue, but my computer doesn't detect a LAN connection, only the wireless one ( atleast it doesnt show up among the other connections). Some weeks ago the wireless connection worked nicely, but now suddenly it doesnt anymore. Currently i'm typing this from an old mac computer, since my internet doesn't work at all on my pc.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI got a Latitude E4310 recently, which had a dead HDD. I had to put my own drive into it and load my own copy of Windows 7 Pro onto it. Everything works, except wifi. I have tried every driver available for this model, but they just say something along the lines of the laptop not having compatible hardware. And yes, the switch on the side is on, and I have tried it in either position. In device manager, I see nothing along the lines of 'wireless card'.I even tried putting in my own mini-pci-e wifi card, an intel wifi link 5100, fully installing all drivers and software. That didn't work either - it picked it up and all the intel drivers installed but in device manager it said it 'couldn't start'.Does this model come standard with wifi? Do I have to go and buy a special dell wifi card and install that?I also have 2 Latitude E4300 laptops which I am about to put new HDDs into and set up, which I believe will have the same issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem using this Dell Latitude. It's always having these connection fits where it randomly disconnects & then reconnects to our wireless internet. I'm always seeing the internet icon in the toolbar either on "Acquiring network address" or "Not connected", and when the internet is working, the icon doesn't even show up in the toolbar. This keeps on stopping me from doing stuff like posting in forums (I was lucky to be able to post this :P), logging into my email, etc. This problem, however, never existed on the Compaq, so I know it's not the signal. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting constantly?

I checked into a hotel and just cannot find the wifi network on this laptop..IT is a named network and yet all i see is an unnamed network on my list of networks found. My blackberry device can easily locate the network..but the laptop simply refuses. I have tried restarting, playing around with the advanced propoerties of the wifi adapter but all in vain. I finally moved on from my Dell Latitude, I purchased a Lenovo today.Just set up Windows 7 on it, but I am having a real problem...I have looked everywhere on the Internet for a fix and can't seem to find it.I am trying to connect to my home network, belkin54g, but am being told "No Internet access." Under Device Manager, I have two network adapters listed, a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller. My network is set up as such...My dad's Mac has the router/modem wired to it, and every other computer connects wirelessly. MY connection is set up as a Windows 7 "Home" network. When hovering over the wireless icon thing at the bottom right of the screen, it gives the network name in bold, then No Internet access in italics right below. I am connected to the home network for sure though, because when I view devices on this network, I see my brothers laptop listed. Most recently I tried to do a Winsock reset from the Command Prompt, but it didn't work.

The problem is, the laptop connects to the Wi Fi available at my work location without any troubles. But when I come back home and try to connect to Wi Fi available at my home location, it does not get connected.
