View 4 RepliesI can't turn on the Wifi switch (Fn + F2) and then I realized its possible it doesn't have a driver so I downloaded the Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller so far and its still not working. Here is the what is on my device manager.

I have a Dell Latitude D610 and my problem is that the wifi light won't come on. I've done the Fn+F2 thing and all that is enabled is bluetooth. I've gone to dell's site and updated drivers and done basically everything I've seen others do on forums. What's interesting is that once in awhile, my wifi light comes on and my wifi will work for maybe 30 seconds and then it disappears. When i go to device manager, my broadcom 802.11g adapter sometimes shows up but usually it isn't there. So it's not there with a yellow exclamation mark over it; when it is on there it's fine but it's hardly there ever. I've even removed the wireless card and reconnected it to see if it'd work but no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a refurb D610 and installed Win XP several times (after I found out that the order of drivers install matters). Last install I followed the order for driver installation.
My ethernet connection (Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller) is working fine, although I'm writing this from a separate PC.
Under Network adapters in the device manager, there is only the above mentioned ethernet device, NO wireless device. That's wrong, or not?
Under Other devices (with yellow question & exclamation mark) are two devices:
1) PCI Simple Communications Controller (Device Inst. ID = VEN_104 / DEV_8038 / SUBSYS_01821028) --- ???
2) Unknown device (Device Inst. ID = ACPI BCM0101 4 15F2F7D1 & 0 ) --- TPM (?)
With Sysinternals Process Explorer I can see the following (wireless related) processes in the Windows/system32 directory: (which are started automatically)
1) WLTRYSVC.EXE
2) BCMWLTRY.EXE (WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller)
3) WLTRAY.EXE (WLAN Card Wireless Network Tray Applet)
However I don't see any wireless related icon in the system tray. When starting the "Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility" from the Start Menu, nothing happens.
PS: this is the laptop that I was using for several years for our company (still with Windows 2000) until a couple months ago, and then bought it back (for private use) from another company that refurbs them (HD wipes) for our company. Under W2K the wireless worked perfectly! I didn't get any software with it, but downloaded all drivers from the dell site.
I have a Dell Latitude D610 laptop with windows xp pro sp3. I need to do the windows reinstallation I know you loose most of the drivers when you use the reinstall cd one of them being the wireless driver. I was wondering the directory where that driver is installed so I can copy it to my usb memory card so that when I reinstall windows I can have my wireless and get online so I can download the rest of the drivers I need.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dell latitude d610 laptop...until last night, I had no problems connecting my laptop to the wireless router...then..I'm not sure what happened, but I can't connect anymore. My daughter has the same kind of laptop and has absolutely no problems with connecting...so, it has to be something with mine. It's like it doesn't know that there is a wireless connection available.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't turn on the bluetooth on my laptop. Laptop Details - Dell Latitude E5510. - Windows 7 32-bit.
Problems - The bluetooth light is not lit (WiFi is lit). - The bluetooth icon is not in the system tray. - There are no settings in 'Control Panel' for bluetooth. - There are no drivers in 'Device Manager' for bluetooth.
Troubleshooting Already Attempted - Ensured that bluetooth was enabled in the BIOS. - Updated BIOS to version A11. - Downloaded and attempted to install drivers (R285455.exe, R260222.exe, R296919.exe). When I try to run R260222.exe, it tells me that it is incompatible. When I run the other two drivers, it extracts the items but then asks me to "activate bluetooth using wireless switch". The switch is already on but no light appears for the bluetooth symbol. It's a catch 22! - Ensured that the 'Bluetooth Support Service' was started.
I've been trying unsuccessfully for weeks to find out how to turn on the Bluetooth adapter (turn Bluetooth radio on) on my Dell Latitude D620.
Firstly does the D620 have a built in Bluetooth adapter? I've done a search on the web and it appears it does. Also I see a Bluetooth symbol just above my keyboard, but it is not lighted up. How do I turn it on?
I went to Control Panel, Device Manager -> Network adapters, but I don't see any Bluetooth devices listed there.
Do I need to install some software? I went to support.dell.com and downloaded the installer for Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module driver. But when I install it, it is tries to install the Vista Profile Pack, and it fails because it "Could not find compatible bluetooth chip on your system" and "DFU install failed with returncode 137".
My son was using the computer early today and I got back on and could not get on the internet.Says "Wireless is turned off. Use the wireless ON/OFF switch to enable it" i have tried the Fn+F2 and just F2. I also tried looking for Quickset and I cannot find that either. Saw similar problems looking through other forums but I don't understand much about computers and can't quite figure out what the solutions are. I have a Latitude D620.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop here that I can't seem to turn wireless off on via the switch. While the obvious choice is hardware failure, it's nearly a brand new Dell Precision M6600 and I hesitate to jump to conclusions.
The physical switch on the system will not toggle wifi on or off; it is always on. I can disable it via Windows (Win 7 Pro), or simply disconnect from the network, but when I do it does not remember the wifi passwords, which may be a separate issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI switched my Dell Latitude D630 on yesterday morning and the WiFi light wasn't lit, and I am unable to connect to any network. I'm completely baffled why this has happened. I was using it the previous night, streaming some music on Spotify, then I turned it off as normal, and when I tried using the internet the next day...nothing. The bluetooth light is lit as normal but the WiFi light stays off, and I've tried turning the external switch on/off to no avail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have provided a service tag below. A friend has an old Latitude C600 running Windows XP Pro that was formatted and we are trying to get it to pick up a wireless router. It has the following in it...
1. mini card... 3com 3C556 (CN-06f553-48361) 2. 3Com Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller 3C920 (3C905C-TX)
Service Tag:
Windows automatically found and installed drivers for both devices after the format. We even tried drivers from Dell. We can get a hard wired connection, but nothing wireless. We get TWO Local area connections showing up in the systray... Local Area Connection 3 and 4. The card is detected in the bios. A 3Com diagnostics program (3Com NIC Doctor) from the Dell site says the NIC is ok, but the "Run Network Test" fails... that is obvious if we can't get a wireless connection. So why then doesn't it pick up any router? If the drivers for it are installed and it's recognized in hardware shouldn't it automatically pick up a router? This has to be something really simple that we are not thinking about.
I have Latitude E6330... but i still confuse what wireless driver must i install on my laptop?
