View 1 RepliesI just bought a Netgear Router WNR 2000 v3 and installed it. I got inside the router and could set up a Network Name and security key. However, I can not access the internet when I chose a security password using WPA 2, WPA-PSK + WPA 2 PSK, or WPA/WPA 2. It only accesses the internet when I chose None.( no secured ).At this time, my network is unsecured because there isn't way I can access the internet when I create a security key using the 3 options the router offers.
Note : I have tried the 3 security options creating a key number and my computer connect to the wireless network but don't access the internet. It only access the internet when I select None ( no secured )

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got a new router. All of my devices connect fine to it except for the desktop that is using an external Linksys wireless adapter (WUSB54AG).The desktop is running Windows XP (Home Edition) SP3.The latest driver for the adapter has been installed (3.0.18.0).I am able to connect if security on the router is turned OFF.The router has 3 security options:
1) WPA-PSK (TKIP)
2) WPA2-PSK (AES)
3) WPA-PSk (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES)
My understanding (from Linksys tech support) is that the device SHOULD be able to connect using WPA-PSK (TKIP). My Linksys Monitor indicates that the device is connected to the access point but not the internet (when I used WPA-PSK (TKIP). The IP address that is assigned is 169.254.3.129 and not the expected 192.168.1.x.When I turn security OFF on the router, the device can connect and I am assigned a "good" IP address (192.168.1.x).
My HP printer finds my network, signs on just fine, has internet. My 2 wired PCs are connected and have internet. My 2 wireless laptops find the network and have internet. Everything has internet successfully thru the router....not one of them can print anything because not one of them can see the printer that I know is there.

I've double checked with Active Directory, and he is a member of both groups.
This person SHOULD have access to Job searches/ and Restaurants, but receives a "content blocked" message on his browser. It appears to me that the settings in Sonicwall are correct, as well with AD member groups.
I am trying to connect to a Security-enabled wireless netowork. I have the key. My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to enter it. When I try to connect I open the "view available networks"window. I see the network name and it shows a strong signal (all 5 green bars).

Now i would like to know if there is a way i can block torrent downloads on the network or the router itself. The options in the router have QoS but nothing to actually limit torrents or control bandwidth.I have looked at using dd-wrt, as i think you can block torrents on that, but my model doesnt seem to be supported. There was another custom firmware called ModFs but im not sure what thats like.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running an i7 MSI gt683 with windows 7 with an Intel Centrino Wirelss-N 130. My home wifi connection runs off of comcast on a netgear router, and the wireless connection works on every single device in the house except for my laptop. I can run my ps3, my wii, we have an ipad, all our phones can connect and we have another laptop that connects with no issue. I have updated my drivers for my wireless card to the latest, flushed the ip on my desktop that the modem is connect to a dozen times. The only way to sometimes fix it is to manually log in to my router and release/renew the ip address from there. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. When it does work, it will work for about a week and then stop working for no reason at random times. The errors I keep getting are:Identifying network (which runs infinitely before cycling back to no internet connection)Connected with no internet access.

I have a netgear CVG834G main router, were my desktop is plugged on to.I pulled a new cable trough the house and garage to have internet access on the other side (cable length is about 80 meters). After the 80meters of cable I placed a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 router. The problem is that I can connect to the Linksys, but the Linksys cant connect to the netgear. On the Linksys the internet LED is blinking very slowly (what does this mean?). So first I thought that the cable was broken or too long. I tested the cable => not broken. I connected the Linksys with the netgear trough a shorter cable and then connected my laptop via the long cable (80meter) and this works perfectly. Is the maximum distends a netgear can take less than 80 meters? (thought is was 100meter ).

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe operate a home office network (workgroup) of 6 older PCs running Windows XP SP3.It's a Windows based network using a designated "home" PC as a server, and until recently we were using ethernet cables and a hub/switch for sharing files which worked well because we only share small document files, no music or video. The workgroup does not have a shared internet connection, we don't want or need one for what we do, although the individual PC's can connect to the web using USB dongles just for checking e-mail.Recently the ethernet hub died and I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to wireless file sharing.None of the PCs have inbuilt wireless adapters so I bought a D-Link USB wireless adapter for each PC.I also bought a Netgear N300 router, thinking that this was suitable entry level equipment for wireless file sharing. Now I'm not so sure.So far I was unable to install the router on the "home" PC because the installation CD seems to assume that the router will be used for sharing an internet connection and does not seem to offer an installation option without a standalone modem. How to install this type of router to create a closed home wireless network without a shared internet connection.
