i wanted to know if i could setup a netgear wireless router to my ethernet cable that is coming out of the wall. is it as easy as plugging the cable coming out of the wall into the internet port on the router?

I also have wireless security cameras and several laptops on the same connection. I occasionally have audio dropouts I suspect due to wireless bandwidth limitations. I have a Netgear WNR3500 Wireless-N Gigabit router that I would like to hang off of the Verizon router and move the Airport Expresses, which are 802.11N capable, to its Wi-fi connection. This would keep my audio streams separate from the video and other wireless traffic and take advantage of the 802.11N.I in configuring the router/s to facilitate this arrangement. I have numerous Windows machines (XP and Windows 7), mostly hardwired, on my main network along with a NAS containing my audio library. So all devices need to be able to see all other devices.

I also have an ooma voip hub. before i did the router upgrade i had modem>ooma hub>router. Mainly had it that way since the previous router was a wrg614 and i thought the hub probably had better qos routing. I now have the 3700 infront since i think it does that. I need to learn how to setup the qos though. Problem is that having the hub after the router loses one of my 11 ports (i have pleanty now).

Basically I have this information taken from our domain controller's logs:
- DHCP address that was leased to the laptop at the time of the "infractions".
- Computer name of the laptop.
- Precise date and time of when this person was connected to our network.
Based on the DCHP address, I can somewhat narrow it down to a few different switches at different locations in the building, but there's no way to pinpoint it exactly. If I can figure out which switch they connected to, I would know who did it.

The former service (modem) was a cisco (1 port) that I connected my EA 2700 Cisco router to and it worked like a charm. My IP phones came right up as well. Now I have an modem/router combo (provided by my ISP) and when ever I attempt to connect to my VPN it will give me an error and not connect. I was told by my ISP that I could bridge the router and try that way.Do I need to set up all over again? or have the settings remained. Also I am unable to access my router with admin/password. The 2 AAEs are connected separately to the router, and this allows us to get coverage in most part of the house (it's a large house with concrete and granite walls). I also have a HP Officejet 8500 'wireless printer' that is wired to the router as you can only print to the printer when it's in standby with a physical connection to the router (that's a different story). So my goal is to replace everything as the router is slowly dying and as a result of this, I want to be able to access the Internet wirelessly throughout the house, and be able to print from any where in the house without anything connected via cables. And as a bonus, I would like the Internet to be accessible 100 yards/metres down the garden (workshop is there). Basically, blanket coverage!

The main gripe I have is I can only login to the router through my phone and not through my computer. How can I achieve this. We have multiple offices that all connect through a VPN. I would like our sys admin to access the router at his location as well.

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to setup a 3600HGV (VDSL Gateway) as modem only and have a Netgear DGN3500 (ADSL2+) as a wireless access point. I'm aware that both are DSL modems, my reasoning for wanting to have them both hooked up is that
a) the 3600HGV has no Gigabit switch and runs on wireless G
b) the DGN 3500 has a Gigabit switch and does wireless N. So in a nutshell I want the 3600 as simple modem and the 3500 as a wireless N access point with Gigabit switch.

View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently using a netgear WG602 wireless router which i use to connect to my 2nd PC and Iphone, with the Netgear router running from my main PC.I have recently been having trouble with my 2nd PC ad Iphone randomly losing connection and the only way for the connection to be reastablished is to reboot the wireless router. Once rebooted i am able to connect again to the internet with no problems, interestingly enough my main PC never loses connection. Also sometimes when i lose my connection and reboot the wireless router i will have a IP conflict pop up on my 2nd PC however i would i say i get this once in every 10 dissconects and not all the time. Sometimes i won't dissconect at all in a day but sometimes i may dissconect 5-6 times.
