View 12 RepliesI just did a clean format on my acer aspire 5100 laptop, everything went flawlessly until the last driver - the network driver. I installed the Atheros WLAN wifi driver and it installed fine. However, it showed a bubble in the task bar saying "Wireless networks detected, click here to connect" so i clicked the bubble and the network connection tab popped up, but it says "No wireless networks were found in range". I don't know what to do, it is recognizing there are networks in range, and then telling me there aren't and none pop up in the list.
The network adapter is: Atheros AR5005G and it is working properly
Edit: I can connect using ethernet, it's just not showing any routers in the network list to connect to
My son is at college and his roommates can connect to wireless, but his computer does not recognize a network. It says the settings saved on the computer do not match the requirements of the network

View 5 Replies View RelatedDue to the untimely demise of my old wireless adsl router (after an altercation with a destructive toddler), I've bought a new one.Connected it via cable to my laptop, & have set it all up through the wizard. When I'm connected via cable, I can access the internet perfectly well. However, if I try to connect using wireless, it can see the wireless router, asks for password, tells me I'm connected to the router - but it tells me that I'm in a local network only (can't find the internet). I've connected another laptop and a few smartphones to wireless, and they all work without any problem at all.I've done the usual take it all apart & start again, but it still comes back to the same problem. The only thing I wondered was that the new router is Wireless N, whereas the old laptop is a b/g - but we've got an older HTC smartphone that's only b/g and that doesn't have any problems.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe power went out in the room where my desktop and router and modem and everything is located. The electrical outlet that all of those things were connected to suddenly stopped working so I had to relocate everything to the other electrical outlet in the room. Everything is working fine again, including the internet connection on my desktop, but now my laptop in the other room will not recognize my wireless connection. It gives me a list of available networks, but none of which are my own. Which makes no sense, as everything is working as normal on my desktop. I tried to "manually connect to a wireless network" by typing in the name and proper security type/encryption type and password, however it tells me a network called (my network name) already exists, and it says "use the existing network. Open the 'connect to a network' dialog so I can connect." or "choose a different name." When I choose the former option, the list of available networks pops up again but mine is not on there. And it should be, as I'm definitely in close range of my router.

old laptop (Dell Inspiron 8000) which works on his Linksys BEFSR41 router, but it will not work with my RVS4000 router. My desktop works with my RVS4000 router, and I have tried connecting the laptop directly to my router with the cable I use for my desktop (as well as a different cable), but the laptop will not work (it says my network cable is unplugged). The additional ports on the RVS4000 are black (the green LED lights won't turn on). My desktop works using different RVS4000 ports, but alas, the laptop won't. I have rechecked the router settings, tried disconnecting the cable modem and the router (to reboot), and unplugged the power overnight, but nothing works. I even tried changing the duplex settings from auto to 100 full duplex which didn't work either.

1. My laptop will see his wifi but after entering the pass will not connect
2. The pass is correct because I introduced the same pass on my mobile and I was able to connect to his wifi through my mobile
3 My laptop wifi is working fine because when I went home it connects automatically on my home wifi
4. I tried to open and close his router but I faced same problem.

I have no problem connecting to public or private wireless networks at my house or elsewhere. Also, my boyfriend and his roommate have no problem connecting to the network on their laptops. It is a WPA encrypted network. I have also tried shutting off the firewall on my computer without any change. My laptop doesn't even recognize the network - i tried to manually add the network to my computer but it still won't come up on my list of active networks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI reset my WAP54g v3.05 to factory default to allow an older computer access to my network.
Now I've reinstalled it for better security using my newer laptop: no SSID broadcast and encryption set for WPA2-personal. However, when I enable Mac filtering and permit my newer laptop, the WAP54g does not recognize it.
Disable Mac filtering and my laptop is back on the network.
Set up our E3000 following the set-up guide. However, wireless devices (laptop, iPhone) recognize the network, but cannot connect. There's no prompt for a password or anything.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden my laptop will not see, much less connect to any networks.I've updated, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, set BIOS to the default, turned the wireless switch on and off (FN F8 does nothing,) virus checked, trouble shot via windows, etc. I gave up and got a USB wireless dongle and it can't find any networks either! Yes, there are networks available via my router and the USB works on another machine. Both devices show up in DEVMGR with no warnings. Ethernet works fine, that's how I'm now connected.I can do a system reload but I'm hoping not to. It's gotta be software for both devices to not function.?

View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have found out that my laptop is unable to find any networks. I started using what I believe to be an ethernet cable to connect my laptop to the internet because it was faster than wireless. But when I removed the cable and try to connect wirelessly, the computer states that there are no wireless networks in range. I know the wireless adapter is broadcasting because my sister can connect wirelessly to the internet. My WiFi is on, but I can't find any networks.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to transfer filed from my laptop to my pc but I'm having problems. First of all both comps are running on windows 7 64 bit. Its weird because out of the 4 computers I have in the house, all of them can see each other EXCEPT my laptop, which cant be seen by any other computers, and when I'm on the laptop I can't see any others.I setup a home network with pass protect off, sharing on etc... on my laptop and no other computer can see it. I think somethings up with the connection though. On this computer I'm on right now, my connection sais "network" and not my actualy connection name. On my laptop, (I have a ethernet plugged in, wireless works also, tried both) when I'm connected it sais Bell~ (my internet name). So my laptop shows my internet name even when its connected through ethernet, but my desktop sais network, not the name

View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago my laptop stopped connecting to the internet for no apparent reason as it had connected just fine the night before. It's a Toshiba and the wireless router I use is a belkin. Every other wireless device from my brother's laptop to my Ipod can connect to the internet just fine. Even the PC connected to the router via ethernet cable can get online. I've tried unplugging the modem, resetting my IP address, directly connecting with an ethernet cable to the router, and resetting my router. My internet browser, IE, used to freeze up but I had a friend look at and he only managed to have it unfreeze[CODE]
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy laptop can see available networks, but is unable to connect to any of them.I have run Microsoft Security Essentials and the scan comes back fine, ran CC Cleaner as well as Malware Bytes and those scans both come back fine as well.I have also re-seated my wifi card, as well as attempted a TCP/IP stack repair option. However none of these fixed my issue. What could be preventing my laptop from connecting to a network? I have also tried to boot into Safe Mode w/ Networking, and the pc is unable to connect there either.I have also disabled all security on my router, it is just an open network no security, broadcasting the SSID.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the wireless switch turned on and the wireless router is set up correctly - I know the network name, encryption & password. The same setup has worked fine before, but now the laptop isn't letting me connect to it, or even try to connect to it.The internet works perfectly if I connect the ethernet cable directly; and I can bring up the wireless router's settings with 192.168.1.1; but the internet doesn't work when I remove the cable. I looked on google to try and find the method of bringing up the available networks, but it won't work for me. When I hover the cursor over the icon on the taskbar, it says "not connected - connections are available", but nothing happens when I click on it. I tried moving the cursor to the bottom-right corner of the screen, clicking on Settings, and clicking on the network icon with "Available" written underneath it, but again nothing happens.
I've also tried this:
-right-clicked network icon on taskbar, opened Network and Sharing Center
-clicked Set Up a Connection or Network
-clicked Connect to the Internet - nothing happens and the window crashes, I have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE->task manager->restart Windows Explorer
-clicked Manually Connect to a Wireless Network - I enter the details of the wireless network, then it says that the network already exists; I choose to Use the existing network, open the "connect to a network" dialog so I can connect, but then nothing happens. It doesn't crash this time though.
One moment the laptop was using the wireless connection from the router in our house and the next it lost internet access and then wasn't able to recognize the SSID or connection at all on the available wireless connections. We have reset the router and restarted the laptop countless times yet the only internet access we have is on the computer the router is hooked up to.The wireless connection works neither on the laptop nor the Wii, both previously works merely hours ago and with no problems until now.We assume there is an issue with the router itself, whether it be a loose ethernet cord (which only faintly can be moved in its place). It's almost as if the router is stopping them (Wii, and laptop) from having access. When we explore the wireless internet properties on the laptop, it shows the wireless connection, yet only there and doesn't give access to it. Could it be the router, or could the company have restricted WiFi only to the computer it is hooked up to?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to transfer all the 'saved' wireless networks from my current laptop to my new one? I go to many different offices and have probably about 50 wireless networks 'stored' on my laptop. Everytime I go back to that office it just automatically connects. I would hate to have to try and find all these passwords again. Is there a way to transfer all this to my new laptop?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I happened to do CD recovery a day ago; *Due to forgetting Administrator password* and now my laptop seems to not be able to pick up any wireless connections when there usually is a ton. Also every time my laptop restarts it always loads saying "Preparing for first time use" Like I used the CD recovery again. which I didn't. I thought that maybe it has to do with the Drivers and such, though im not very tech fancy, so I wouldn't exactly know where to find the correct driver to install, and which to install.[code] Oh and lastly, I happened to notice on Driver manager, that on "other devices" there is a yellow exclamation point, on both of them: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 and Network Controller.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm living in Australia for a few months and my accommodation does not have a phone line, so I've been using mobile broadband dongles instead. This worked fine until recently, when I abruptly became unable to access the internet. The laptop recognises the dongle and seems to connect, but the download/upload speeds are at a constant zero bytes per second (I have tried to ping Google while 'connected' but received no response). I have tried two dongles from Dodo and one from Telstra, with the same results. Initially, I assumed that this was simply due to signal strength, but each of the three dongles I have tested work fine on another laptop in the same location (I'm using one of them to post this). I have also tried using the dongles with my laptop in other locations, including the city centre, but with no success.
Also, I seem to be unable to connect to any wireless networks (e.g. McDonalds wifi) - the laptop detects the network ok, and seems to be connected, but I am unable to access any web pages etc. In the Network and Sharing Centre, the laptop is connected with the wifi network, but the wifi network does not seem to be connected to the internet. I'm unsure if this is related to the above problem, however.Like I say, everything seems to have been working fine up until about a week agoIf
I have suddenly started having issues recognising and connecting to a wireless network at home on my laptop. We have 2 wireless networks at home as we use an additional D-Link router through the powerlines. (DHP-W307AV PowerLine Homeplug AV Wireless N Starter Kit)I used to be able to connect to both but now I can just connect to the main wireless router. Other laptops and smart phones in the house can connect to both. I was wondering if this had anything to do with Norton 360 so I have used their removal tool to get rid of it. Unfortunately I still can't connect to the second network.
