View 2 RepliesI get into the router ok, using no username and "admin" for password.I set up the key, hit OK, then when I hit "apply" the prompt comes up for the username and password again. I skip the username, enter "admin" for password (just like I did getting into the setup earlier) except now it says it doesn't recognize, or it's invalid, etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to find where to select between the different encryption types (TKIP or AES), I see the info on page 87 of the product manual, but this doesn't match what I see in the Manual Wireless Network Setup screen. You can select WPA Personal (in Security Mode), but there are no further panels below it to select encryption types and enter the PSK. Compare page 30 to page 87. There are extra panels on 87 that don't appear on 30, and I can't find a way to access them while accessing the router.I've got the unit set up and running; works fine with my wireless laptop. It's just that I need to be able to switch between things in order to troubleshoot a setup with an internet radio I'm trying to get running (Grace Digital, which apparently doesn't do 802.11n, only up to g).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am doing some per-deployment testing with a ASA5585X and noticed that when I feed it a stream of SYN packets on the outside interface the measured traffic rate on the inside interface going out is about 10x the rate of the outside interface going in.
laptop --- ASA --- PC
I send 6k TCP SYN pkt at interface rate from the laptop targeted at PC. No packets are dropped by Ac Ls or policies and can be sniffed at the PC.
Show interface commands show:
sh int inside:
... ...
Traffic Statistics for "inside":
...
1 minute input rate 23 pkt/sec, 1303 bytes/sec
1 minute output rate 4454 pkt/sec, 820757 bytes/sec
sh int outside:
... ...
Traffic Statistics for "outside":
...
1 minute input rate 885 pkt/sec, 70847 bytes/sec
1 minute output rate 7 pkt/sec, 425 bytes/sec
I would expect that if 885 pkt/sec enter the firewall on the outside interface the same amount or less would exit it on the inside...? Why this is not the case? The packet rate is about 5x and the data rate is about 10x greater.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have router BEFW11S4 ver.4 and its sending wifi around the house, but its an open connection with "linksys" as the username and no password. I've been trying to hook it up but it will not open up when I type in the IP address. It was working last night, and it just stopped all of a sudden. Now my wireless internet is working perfectly! It loads up fast and everything, however, as soon as I plug in the cable that connects my laptop to my router, the internet gets weird. Only yahoo loads up. Gmail, facebook, and other websites dont. And when I type in the IP address, it doesn't work either. I tried to do it both with the direct internet plugged in, and then I switched to wireless. It didn't matter. Whenever the cable was plugged in, it caused problems. As soon as I unplugged it, the wireless went back to normal. I'm on wireless now without the cable plugged in now and it works fine. What should I do? I know the regular IP address should be the 192 one, and that I should sign in with admin password and nothing for username, but my IP address is 172.18.4.1 (I ipconfig'ed to find out)DO I need to change the IP address? If so, how?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem with my Linksys E1000. When I try to connect wireless, there is a network with an excellent signal, but it has the name "CiscoI1593" and it asks for a password which I don't know. My original network does not appear for some reason when I try to connect wirelessly. I do see my original network name when I use an ethernet cable through the E1000.
It's not possible, where I live, for this "CiscoI1593" network to belong to someone else, it just seemed like it renamed my network to this and also wants some different password.
I think this may be due to something I did. My internet occasionally cuts out and it's usually something wrong with the modem or router, so I typically unplug and press the reset button on both until it begins to work again. This is the first time i've had this problem though, and I have unplugged and pressed the reset button on my router many times.
There is also a button in the middle of the front of the router that looks like a refresh symbol, but I don't really know what it is, pushing it doesn't seem to do anything but make a solidly-on light become blinky.
My ISP insists that in order for me to have a home network use their router/modem ("2-Wire") for internet access, I must make my own network router act as a bridge since their modem is acting as the router. I.e. she said put your router into bridge mode. I don't know how to do that and Linksys won't offer assistance.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAll my years on the computer and internet, i've only been connected via ethernet directly from my cable modem as i have just 1 desktop. Anyhow, i just bought a laptop yesterday and so, a router is a must to connect wirelessly. I received an old Linksys BEFW11S4 v4 router from a friend and decided to use it as it's still functional. Yes, i know it's an ancient router but i'm on a tight budget. The setup - I have the ethernet from my modem plugged into the router. I have another ethernet cable in slot #1 (router) connected to my desktop. For my laptop, it'll be a wireless connection.Issue - Now, the connection for my desktop (via ethernet cable in slot #1 on the router) works perfectly fine. I have it set up (on browser - 192.168.1.1), added the SSID, WPA Shared Key and such. The only issue is with my laptop. Everytime i switch on my laptop, i cannot establish a connection (after selecting the SSID and entering the key). The ONLY way for me to get a connection is if i power off then on the router. Each time i turn on/restart my laptop, i'll have to power off/on the router in order for me to get it to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA couple nights ago, my wireless router (Linksys BEFW11S4 ver4) just stopped letting me connect to the internet. All the lights were still flashing as they should, I could still go to the setup page, I just could not connect to the internet, both through wired and wireless. I could connect straight through the modem though.
So I decided that since the router was probably over a decade old that maybe it was just its time, and I bought a new one (E1000). I connected it, and still could not connect to the internet. I then did some internet searching and found this [URL] and I followed what was mentioned in post 10 (MAC address clone and changing local IP). Now I can connect through the wired connection and I rejoiced thinking I solved it.
Then I checked my laptop and it won't even connect to the router. It sees the router, but when I ask it to connect, it just says it can't. I decided I was too exhausted to try searching and fixing it on my own and if I tried I'd just end up breaking something out of frustration.
