View 3 Replies View RelatedThe guest network on the router keeps going down. It can be seen but it cannot be connected to. Sometimes it works for a day or 2 and then it doesn't. I have to constantly babysit the network and it is entirely frustrating because the only fix is to reboot the router.I have tried factory resetting several times.I have tried re-flashing the fw.I'm using the non-CCC fw because CCC had way, way too many issues.These routers have been out for months and many people have been having issues and somehow Cisco doesn't see fit to work on firmware that stabilizes them at all? It's like, they release a router and then forget about it - the next batch comes along, often the same guts with a different shell and it's the same thing over again. I had a WRT610N and I said I'd never buy another Cisco after that but I broke my rule because of being lured by these "App enabled" features, which mind you have nothing at all over the competition since the CCC doesn't even work for most people.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have setup my EA3500 for guest access however when my clients connect and start their browser they are never prompted for a password to continue their session. The browser times out. I can connect to the secured network by using the wireless password and the clients work.
I have the lastest firmware. I have a host of different clients, Kindle Fire HD, RIM Playbook, Windows 7 laptop. I have turned off guest account restarted, reconfigured and nothing changes. The browser always times out and the client is never prompted for a password. I bought this router because a friend that I visit has one so that visitors can use the internet...I know hers works, I have brought my Kindle along with me and connected to her Linksys router and it prompts for a password. I liked the feature so much I bought this one.
FYI. This router was replaced under warranty, I spent two days (I'm not kidding) on the phone with Linksys support trying to get the first one to work. I rebooted, reset to default, changed settings, tweaked, used different clients all with no effect so they replaced it.
I have full signal strength but I can't connect to the internet from any device. Internet works fine when connected directly to devices. Devices will show an IP address but will not connect to the internet. The first router worked fine for about a year and did the same thing so I replaced it but now after 1 month, this router is doing the same thing!
View 1 Replies View RelatedUnder Devices, I find that my Apple laptop (WIFI connection) and our Dell Desktop (LAN) connection are considered the same device. The operating system the EA3500 shows for this device is the apple IOS system both connections and address numbers appear in this device. This makes it impossible to set up separate parental control settings on each computer. What could I do to get the EA3500 to recognize these as separate devices? I have already tried forcing the WIFI network address of the Apple to another address. All that happened was the device address updated in on the EA3500 device list, but the LAN and WIFI addresses remained together still under the same device name and MAC OS on the device list.
I have the latest firmware loaded on my EA3500. This was not an issue previously when I ran the old firmware. Below is a what I see in the device listing showing the LAN address for the Dell and WIFI address for the Apple all on the same screen. When I turn one device off, the respective entry goes away. Only when both computers are off does the single device entry on the EA3500 reflect being offline.
I recently upgraded my Wi-Fi router to an EA3500 and am controlling it using Smart Wi-Fi running on a wired Windows 7 machine.So far, I have been able to add devices to the network without issue and each of those connections works fine. All, except my TV, have been Windows 7 based machines. Smart Wi-Fi Device List has been able to "see" each device and I have been able to add them to that list as well.
I am attempting to add a Windows 8 desktop computer to the network which is using a external USB wireless adapter. That computer can see and connect to the network through the EA3500 and the connection seems to work fine. The only issue is that its adapter does not show up in the Device List.
1) Does the Device List do anything else besides showing a list of devices I chosen to add to my network?
2) How do I get my Windows 8 wireless adapter to show up in the Device List?
I have an EA4500 and am using Cisco Connect Cloud software. Its working mostly fine except that I have one device on the network that will not show up in the device list. This is not an issue in itself and normally I would ignore (although it used to show up when I forst got the router) however..
The device is a WDTVLive media unit and required access to windows shares on a media server. Now the WDTVLive device is server an ip address by the router and is available from everywhere on my network but every couple of days it loses the capacity to search windows shares.
I know what you are thinking and I initially thought the same, this is an issue with the WDTVLive box. However one day I spent a few hours trying to resolve (Am an IT Consultant and know a little about networks) and found that I could not fix the issue. I then rebooted the router and it started working. I have since confirmed that every time it breaks I have to reboot the router.
I have the WRT400N router with the latest firmware. Recently I have noticed a device in my DHCP that I do not recognize. It is not device I own (believe me, I have racked my brain and confirmed) as it shows as an Acer pc. I cannot ping the IP address however. I have rebooted my router several times thinking maybe it's a former connected device but saved in memory but it keeps coming back. I am thinking possibly it is someone hi-jacking my Internet, but not sure. I am using WEP security but it shows a LAN connection which is strange for a wireless device. The only hard wired pc is my HP.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to firmware version 1.0.03 I started to have this weird issue: I have four PCs connected to this wireless router via wireless G. They all run Windows 7 Home Premium. After a few hours I started to notice that the DHCP client table is empty even if all four PCs are connected to the internet. This causes a networking problem because one of the PC serves as a file server and it grants access by IP addresses. Not being able to "see" those computers, my access is denied.

The thing is I've installed it in the past and ran into some driver issue which made me give up. But it showed up in device manager before so I know it's not a dead card. Right now, plug and play isn't working. How do I get a Wireless Connection to show up in my device manager? This is for my PC. I also have a couple drivers I could use but I don't know how to install them because they are not exe files. I can't select upgrade drivers because the network adapter isn't showing up in the first place.
I have tried unplugging and replugging, and also scanning for hardware changes in device manager.
I am having no end of issues with this router since the upgrade to CCC. I don't want to downgrade because the reason I purchased the router was for the hopeful addition of more apps later on and the CCC.
My router has now suddenly decided to no longer broadcast N signals. My 2.4ghz network is set for mixed and my 5ghz is set for N Only. They are both set to auto channel and WPA2 Personal security and have been working since I purchased the router on Sunday.
Last night it spontaneously rebooted and that was that.
Both laptops (with N adapters) are seeing the 2.4ghz network as 802.11g and my 300Mbps notebook adapter is seeing the 5ghz network as 802.11a. InSSIDer is showing that both networks are now broadcasting at a max of 54Mbps.
I have tried rebooting the router multiple times. I have also tried unplugging it for 60 seconds. I have also attempted to force the 2.4ghz to 20Mhz and a more optimal (unused) channel. That doesn't work. I tried setting the 5ghz network to wide (40mhz) with an optimal channel. Same deal. Still seeing it as 802.11a.
Just purchased new N750 model EA3500-NP and everything went ok until I tried to get my HP Laser Jet P2035n online. No go! It worked fine on the D-Link via Ethernet connection.

I got ftp working for my usb attached wv delements drive , but it is totally invisible in windows (except for ftp of course).I read in an older post that the usb drive in certain situations does not work (independent of disk manufacturer/type and such) and for certain configurations the ftp option might work but the windows mapped network drive doesn't , does that still apply? does it apply to bridged mode ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Linksys EA3500 about two months ago, brought it home and set it up with my DSL provider and everything was great, until sometime last week, and since then my download speeds have just plummeted to basically nothing. I did some troubleshooting but I cannot seem to find what the issue is. I have checked all the cables etc, and I know that it is definitely something with the router itself..My current Speedtest.net speeds are as follows (I am paying for a 5mb connection) with the EA3500.Ping of 15ms Download speed of .67mbps, Upload speed of .60mbps.When I remove the router and hook straight to the DSL modem I get the following results.Pink of 12ms Download speed of 4.89mbps, Upload speed of .60mbps
- I have tried to reset the router both by holding the reset button and through the configuration application.
- I have enabled and disabled wireless to see if that was slowing things down
- I have plugged in my old WRT54G and I get the 12ms, 4.89mbps,.60mbps results on it (so I know its the EA3500)
- I tried putting the computer in the DMZ
- I have changed the ports that the computer is plugged into
- I have disabled and enabled IPV6 on both router and network card
- Firmware version - 1.1.38.134141
I just bought a Linksys ea3500 and i'm trying to configure it.This is the case.I have a first router connected to internet and several computers connected to it.Then, I have a second router (ea3500) also connected to it.If i disable the dhcp and use it as an access point i can see all computers in the network.If if enable the DHCP it creates a private network and all pcs connected to this network can't see and access computers of the first network.The problem is that using EA3500 as an access point disables the most part of the features of the router.My question is: can i use it not as an access point (in order to have all features) but at the same time having access the first network and all computers on it?

Can I just give the LAN-conencted PC a 192.168.3.x static IP to access the guest network? I am assuming there is no VLAN functionality...
And even better, can I set up a DHCP relationship to that port? So that any device plugged into the port will get a IP on that subnet?
Is there a way to get rid of the guest network on a E1000 or is it part of the setup.

I have a strange problem with my Linksys E1000. When I try to connect wireless, there is a network with an excellent signal, but it has the name "CiscoI1593" and it asks for a password which I don't know. My original network does not appear for some reason when I try to connect wirelessly. I do see my original network name when I use an ethernet cable through the E1000.
It's not possible, where I live, for this "CiscoI1593" network to belong to someone else, it just seemed like it renamed my network to this and also wants some different password.
I think this may be due to something I did. My internet occasionally cuts out and it's usually something wrong with the modem or router, so I typically unplug and press the reset button on both until it begins to work again. This is the first time i've had this problem though, and I have unplugged and pressed the reset button on my router many times.
There is also a button in the middle of the front of the router that looks like a refresh symbol, but I don't really know what it is, pushing it doesn't seem to do anything but make a solidly-on light become blinky.
I cannot get the Guest Network feature to work.Even though Guest SSID is enabled, it does not show up on any devices attempting to connect. Manually connecting by entering the Guest SSID fails (not recognized). On devices with the primary 5 and 2.4 GHz configured they do see the third network but without SSID (unknown) and are also unable to connect to it manually using the SSID.I did not try this before 1.0.02. Have rebooted modem and verified all configs (multiple times). The network is live in an office and can't keep screwing with it or drastically changing its settings.

My only question is it shows two wireless connections available: The secured one I set up and the another network with the same name that says "guest" and is NOT secured. Is there a way to either disable the unsecured guest network or to secure the guest network?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running a guest network on my E4200V2. I have changed my DNS servers on the router to use OpenDNS for traffic filtering. The filtering on my non-guest networks is working fine; the OpenDNS test sites are blocked. However, when I use the guest network, the OpenDNS test sites are not blocked. There's obviously nowhere that I can change the DNS settings for the guest network.
I know that parental filtering in the router applies to the guest network, however, it seems that the DNS servers for the non-guest networks don't apply to the guest network. Is this true? Have others seen this?If so, that's pretty disappointing. OpenDNS filtering is much more powerful than the 8-URL blacklist I can create in the router admin. If I want to filter sites for my kids, having a guest network that is essentially wide-open (except for 8 URLs) is not an ideal situation.
Our router is connected to my moms work computer. So on our main family computer we have a NET GEAR WG111v1 wireless adapter. When I do a scan for avaliable networks only the guest network is found. Our ipods can find the main secured connection but not the computer.
