Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 Not Broadcasting N Network - Signals
Jul 4, 2012
I am having no end of issues with this router since the upgrade to CCC. I don't want to downgrade because the reason I purchased the router was for the hopeful addition of more apps later on and the CCC.
My router has now suddenly decided to no longer broadcast N signals. My 2.4ghz network is set for mixed and my 5ghz is set for N Only. They are both set to auto channel and WPA2 Personal security and have been working since I purchased the router on Sunday.
Last night it spontaneously rebooted and that was that.
Both laptops (with N adapters) are seeing the 2.4ghz network as 802.11g and my 300Mbps notebook adapter is seeing the 5ghz network as 802.11a. InSSIDer is showing that both networks are now broadcasting at a max of 54Mbps.
I have tried rebooting the router multiple times. I have also tried unplugging it for 60 seconds. I have also attempted to force the 2.4ghz to 20Mhz and a more optimal (unused) channel. That doesn't work. I tried setting the 5ghz network to wide (40mhz) with an optimal channel. Same deal. Still seeing it as 802.11a.

My belkin wireless dual band router just stopped broadcasting on the 2.4 band. The 5 band still worked (my wife's phone could still connect to it no problem). My cell is a motorola Razr maxx and only works on the 2.4. I have an app (wifi analyzer) that allows me to see what is happening with my network - specifically when i would try to connect to my network - my network name would be listed but as soon as I hit "connect" it would disappear. Only to come back into the list saying "MYNETWORK saved, secured WPA/WPA2". Every time I would try to connect same thing. Contemporaneously, I would check the network activity using wifi analyzer and could see that roughly each time I tried to connect to my network - it would drop off completely.Ok - after scouring the internet - it does seem that a wireless router can stop broadcasting on the 2.4 and still have the 5 band work. (btw - my pc is hardwired through the router and is not affected). So I bought a new Linksys 3500 dual band router. I installed it and it has worked fine....up until yesterday. Now I have the same problem. While my wife's phone still works on the 5 band it will not work on the 2.4. In fact nothing will work on the 2.4. Could I have just bought a crappy router?I'm not sure what pertinent info to list...Cell Stratosphere - works on 5 band not 2.4Cell Android razr maxx - will not connect on 2.4 (5 is not an option)Kindle - can not connect on 2.4Roku - can not connect on 2.4Tivo - can not connect on 2.4Older Linksys modem works with no problem.PC (sefl-built) running Windows 7 64 bit (w/ Norton) is not having any problems with connectivity - as it is hard-wired into the router.I've switched the 2.4 broadcast channel from 1 through 11. Nothing.I've cycled both the modem and the router about a dozen times - does not fix the issue.I have reset the router back to factory settings 3 times - no fixI am using WPA/WPA2 - but I have changed the router to run as unprotected - nothing changes.I've even out of desperation gone back and tried restoring my system to earlier restore points just to see if anything would happen. zilch. So did i just catch some bad luck by buying a faulty router?

How do you have the WAP610N and WRT610N using the same SSID? I would prefer to have my WAP610N simply just extend my network instead of broadcasting another.

I'm runing an ea3500 in bridged mode, classic configuration, firmware 1.0.30 build 126544. I got ftp working for my usb attached wv delements drive , but it is totally invisible in windows (except for ftp of course).I read in an older post that the usb drive in certain situations does not work (independent of disk manufacturer/type and such) and for certain configurations the ftp option might work but the windows mapped network drive doesn't , does that still apply? does it apply to bridged mode ?

I purchased a Linksys EA3500 about two months ago, brought it home and set it up with my DSL provider and everything was great, until sometime last week, and since then my download speeds have just plummeted to basically nothing. I did some troubleshooting but I cannot seem to find what the issue is. I have checked all the cables etc, and I know that it is definitely something with the router itself..My current Speedtest.net speeds are as follows (I am paying for a 5mb connection) with the EA3500.Ping of 15ms Download speed of .67mbps, Upload speed of .60mbps.When I remove the router and hook straight to the DSL modem I get the following results.Pink of 12ms Download speed of 4.89mbps, Upload speed of .60mbps
- I have tried to reset the router both by holding the reset button and through the configuration application.
- I have enabled and disabled wireless to see if that was slowing things down
- I have plugged in my old WRT54G and I get the 12ms, 4.89mbps,.60mbps results on it (so I know its the EA3500)
- I tried putting the computer in the DMZ
- I have changed the ports that the computer is plugged into
- I have disabled and enabled IPV6 on both router and network card
- Firmware version - 1.1.38.134141

I just bought a Linksys ea3500 and i'm trying to configure it.This is the case.I have a first router connected to internet and several computers connected to it.Then, I have a second router (ea3500) also connected to it.If i disable the dhcp and use it as an access point i can see all computers in the network. If if enable the DHCP it creates a private network and all pcs connected to this network can't see and access computers of the first network. The problem is that using EA3500 as an access point disables the most part of the features of the router. My question is: can i use it not as an access point (in order to have all features) but at the same time having access the first network and all computers on it?

I just bought a certified refurbished router. The model is WRT610N-RM. Where's what I've done:
1. Downloaded newest firmware from the site using old router, Then disconnected. Connected a lan cable to the new router. Powered up the router. Held down reset untill the light blinks. Went to the browser and typed 192.168.1.1. Entered password to go into router and upgraded firmware. 2. 5 Ghz Settings: Went to Wireless menu. Selected "manual", mode is "mixed" (If i chose N only for 5 Ghz, then It won't save my setting for internet security. Instead it will be "disable" no matter what". The rest was default. SSID is enabled. Then I set up the 2.5 Ghz. I have 3 other computers with N wireless card. Some others have G, however when I viewed available networks, I only see the 2.4 Ghz ssid. I tried to reboot and unplug power for 10 seconds, but no luck seeing the 5 Ghz.

I set up EA6500. All kinds of problems with anything on the 2.4 MHz band. My wireless desktop on the 5.0 MHz band was flawless. So I ran Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector (freeware). The router is transmitting two 2.4 MHz signals! One is the SSID I set up and named. The other one is identical in every way except that the BSSID is slightly different. It is a non-broadcasted SSID that shows up on every device as "Other Network." I was on the phone with Cisco Support tonite, and they were great as usual but had no answer. If you change the channel on the 2.4 MHz band, the shadow network also changes to the same channel (this blew the Tech's mind). We reset the router to factory settings and started over. They are calling me back tomorrow. This router has great features on paper, but so far, it has not delivered.

I just purchased the E2500 and both bands are only broadcasting transfer rates at 144N instead of the advertised 300N. My old router broadcast at the 300N rate on the same ISP serving a range of devices. I contacted chat support and tried to discuss the issue for about 30-60 minutes before getting fed up with the lack of progress on the issue. The gist I got from the support agent was that I would only be able to achieve the 300N rate in N only mode instead of the mixed mode. I don't know the available modes of all the client devices that would need to connect but this would not be acceptable as my old router was capable of serving the range of devices while also giving the max rate of 300N to those devices that could utilize it. I verified the difference in transfer rates using [URL] with my old router giving the higher rates expected from 300N over 144N.

SSID is not being broadcast from an e3200. I split the wireless networks and assigned a new name for the 5Ghz band. The broadcast SSID button is enabled for both networks. (2.4 & 5). The idea is I want to stream video on the 5Ghz band. Nothing seems to see it though, TV other PCs, etc.

This is my second E1000, the first one worked fine until the power supply flaked out and overheated. So I bought another E1000 and this one worked fine for about 6 months. Now it just quits broadcasting. It will work for a couple hours to 18 hours before it stops. I have to unplug it and wait 30 seconds, power up and it.

I changed the 5 GHZ SSID name using Cisco connect on my E3200 router as was expecting to see 2 available wireless networks on my laptop, but it seems that only the 2.4 GHZ is still broadcasting as it was before. When I connect to it with my laptop it shows it connecting with 802.11n, so I would think that my laptop would see the 5 GHz SSID if it was broadcasting. I am trying to take advantage of the dual band feature and connect the 5 GHZ to my blue ray player for real time video streaming.

So I have this E1500 Router that worked fine for the past 5 months, then out of the blue, the wireless feature ceased to function... laptops were not being able to connect to the wireless, the router was also not broadcasting the SSID.So, here's what I have done so far:
1. Check the router software settings, all was good there.
2. Did a "hardware reset" pushing the red button. (now this solved the problem, BUT only for a day, when power is turned off for the night, the next day it's non-functional again. The cycle can be repeated daily, but its a pain to reset and set it up everyday)
3. Updated the Firmware, and this somehow solved the problem for 3 Days... and now it's back to non-functional, again out of the Blue.
Is the Router just busted and it's not remembering the settings?

E2000-RM router has been working fine until about 2 days ago. Wired connection still works fine, but the wireless signals seems to be dropping in and out. I have a couple wireless devices and they all seem to be experiencing problems. Using the network connection bar on my laptop sometimes it shows a strong signal and connects no problem. Then all of a sudden the signal is gone (drops off list). It can be both the main and guest signal dropping, other times it might just be the main, etc., etc. Sometimes it shows a signal but will not connect and then a few seconds it might connect, or drop entirely. I guess the best word to describe it is highly erratic. Distance does not seem to matter. I can be 2 feet away and get the same behavior. The indicator on the box shows a signal at all times.

So I just got this router in hopes that I would get a better signal within my room as opposed to my older router. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, in fact I think I'm getting weaker signals. My previous router was a D-Link WBR-2310. I went to speed test.net and tested 3 variables. My wifi on my desktop in my room, my wifi when right next to a router on my laptop, and my wifi using my neighbors wifi in my room.
My room Desktop Wifi:
Download was 0.50 mbs Upload: 3.6
My laptop right next to Router:
Download 19.87 mbs Upload: 3.5
My room Desktop Neighbors Wifi:
Download was 17.3 mbs Upload was 3.32.
What is the point of this new wireless N router, when it can't beat a G router older model in reach? And why does is have a 0.50 mb d/l speed but a 3.6 upload speed?

The wireless drops specifically from my laptop constantly at random times. When the wireless drops in order for me to be able to reconnect i have to restart the router itself. There are also random times where the Wi-Fi stops broadcasting altogether. I have a computer connected via Ethernet and it does not lose connection during these times. All the computers are running Windows 7 and the Router is up to date on firmware.

I just installed a Linksys WRT160N router. The signal started of good about 50 to 70 feet from the routers location. Now the signal is registering as low to good, about 54Mbps. I was wondering what options I might have to install a wireless bridge for expansion of the signal. I have configured an encrypted network using WPA2. I am wondering what the technical difficulty would be to install and configure it. I setup the WRT160N myself if that means anything.

At one of our offices, we have a Cisco ASA5505 firewall that has dhcp enabled. I have a WRT54G router plugged into that firewall with DHCP enabled. The scope of our inside network is 192.168.51.***, however when connected to the WRT54G, it gives you the scope of 192.168.1.***We have an antenna amplifier screwed into one of the antenna ports on the router. This whole setup works fine.
The problem is we need to install an access point WAP54G in a building across the property (picks up router wireless signal fine) to repeat the wireless signal to the back of the property where the router will not reach. I have read that all you need to do is type in the wireless mac address of the routher into the access point and select "Wireless Repeater". I have the channels set to 6 on both devices as well as the same security configuration. When I try to connect to the wireless network on the access point, It never gives me an ip in the 192.168.1.*** scope, which the WRT54G is configured to give out. Also, in this setup does the WRT54G need to be set to router or gateway mode? I do not need it to distribute ip addresses. [code]
