With the new firmware update, I have lost the functionality to disable broadcasting my SID after Pushed Firmware. There has to be a way to disable that information.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy EA4500 router now automatically goes to Cisco Connect Cloud, and I can no longer access my router directly through my browser. I do not want to use Cisco Connect Cloud, for security reasons, so how can I disable the automatic access to the cloud? Use of the Cisco Connect Cloud should be optional, and not mandatory. If the cloud is the only way I will be allowed to make changes in my router, I may just have to return it to the store. Can this "feature" be turned off?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe only way I could get my EA6500 to work as auto DHCP to my Roadrunner Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard cable modem was to disable IPv6 support on the router. It appears that the EA6500 attempts to issue the DHCP request for address assignment from the modem using IPv6. I could see the status of "Connecting" for IPv6 in the Diagnosis Reports and it would hang. Once I disabled IPv6, the modem assigned an IPv4 address and everything worked fine. However, am I giving up any functionality by having to do this? I bought this router and the WUMC710 Universal Media Connector for the 5GHz connectivity for streaming and just wondered if I'm impacting UMC performance or any other functions of the router by having to disable IPv6.

I just bought a certified refurbished router. The model is WRT610N-RM. Where's what I've done:
1. Downloaded newest firmware from the site using old router, Then disconnected. Connected a lan cable to the new router. Powered up the router. Held down reset untill the light blinks. Went to the browser and typed 192.168.1.1. Entered password to go into router and upgraded firmware. 2. 5 Ghz Settings: Went to Wireless menu. Selected "manual", mode is "mixed" (If i chose N only for 5 Ghz, then It won't save my setting for internet security. Instead it will be "disable" no matter what". The rest was default. SSID is enabled. Then I set up the 2.5 Ghz. I have 3 other computers with N wireless card. Some others have G, however when I viewed available networks, I only see the 2.4 Ghz ssid. I tried to reboot and unplug power for 10 seconds, but no luck seeing the 5 Ghz.
I set up EA6500. All kinds of problems with anything on the 2.4 MHz band. My wireless desktop on the 5.0 MHz band was flawless. So I ran Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector (freeware). The router is transmitting two 2.4 MHz signals! One is the SSID I set up and named. The other one is identical in every way except that the BSSID is slightly different. It is a non-broadcasted SSID that shows up on every device as "Other Network." I was on the phone with Cisco Support tonite, and they were great as usual but had no answer. If you change the channel on the 2.4 MHz band, the shadow network also changes to the same channel (this blew the Tech's mind). We reset the router to factory settings and started over. They are calling me back tomorrow. This router has great features on paper, but so far, it has not delivered.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the E2500 and both bands are only broadcasting transfer rates at 144N instead of the advertised 300N. My old router broadcast at the 300N rate on the same ISP serving a range of devices. I contacted chat support and tried to discuss the issue for about 30-60 minutes before getting fed up with the lack of progress on the issue. The gist I got from the support agent was that I would only be able to achieve the 300N rate in N only mode instead of the mixed mode. I don't know the available modes of all the client devices that would need to connect but this would not be acceptable as my old router was capable of serving the range of devices while also giving the max rate of 300N to those devices that could utilize it. I verified the difference in transfer rates using [URL] with my old router giving the higher rates expected from 300N over 144N.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSSID is not being broadcast from an e3200. I split the wireless networks and assigned a new name for the 5Ghz band. The broadcast SSID button is enabled for both networks. (2.4 & 5). The idea is I want to stream video on the 5Ghz band. Nothing seems to see it though, TV other PCs, etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having no end of issues with this router since the upgrade to CCC. I don't want to downgrade because the reason I purchased the router was for the hopeful addition of more apps later on and the CCC.
My router has now suddenly decided to no longer broadcast N signals. My 2.4ghz network is set for mixed and my 5ghz is set for N Only. They are both set to auto channel and WPA2 Personal security and have been working since I purchased the router on Sunday.
Last night it spontaneously rebooted and that was that.
Both laptops (with N adapters) are seeing the 2.4ghz network as 802.11g and my 300Mbps notebook adapter is seeing the 5ghz network as 802.11a. InSSIDer is showing that both networks are now broadcasting at a max of 54Mbps.
I have tried rebooting the router multiple times. I have also tried unplugging it for 60 seconds. I have also attempted to force the 2.4ghz to 20Mhz and a more optimal (unused) channel. That doesn't work. I tried setting the 5ghz network to wide (40mhz) with an optimal channel. Same deal. Still seeing it as 802.11a.
My router has recently stopped broadcasting wifi, unfortunately it also no longer lets me use it as a router to get internet. if i plug directly into the modem i can get internet. but while using the router i get a computer symbol with an explanation mark on it

The 5 band still worked (my wife's phone could still connect to it no problem).My cell is a motorola Razr maxx and only works on the 2.4. I have an app (wifi analyzer) that allows me to see what is happening with my network - specifically when i would try to connect to my network - my network name would be listed but as soon as I hit "connect" it would disappear. Only to come back into the list saying "MYNETWORK saved, secured WPA/WPA2". Every time I would try to connect same thing. Contemporaneously, I would check the network activity using wifi analyzer and could see that roughly each time I tried to connect to my network - it would drop off completely.Ok - after scouring the internet - it does seem that a wireless router can stop broadcasting on the 2.4 and still have the 5 band work. (btw - my pc is hardwired through the router and is not affected).So I bought a new Linksys 3500 dual band router. I installed it and it has worked fine....up until yesterday.Now I have the same problem. While my wife's phone still works on the 5 band it will not work on the 2.4. In fact nothing will work on the 2.4. Now it just quits broadcasting. It will work for a couple hours to 18 hours before it stops. I have to unplug it and wait 30 seconds, power up and it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI changed the 5 GHZ SSID name using Cisco connect on my E3200 router as was expecting to see 2 available wireless networks on my laptop, but it seems that only the 2.4 GHZ is still broadcasting as it was before. When I connect to it with my laptop it shows it connecting with 802.11n, so I would think that my laptop would see the 5 GHz SSID if it was broadcasting. I am trying to take advantage of the dual band feature and connect the 5 GHZ to my blue ray player for real time video streaming.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have this E1500 Router that worked fine for the past 5 months, then out of the blue, the wireless feature ceased to function... laptops were not being able to connect to the wireless, the router was also not broadcasting the SSID.So, here's what I have done so far:
1. Check the router software settings, all was good there.
2. Did a "hardware reset" pushing the red button. (now this solved the problem, BUT only for a day, when power is turned off for the night, the next day it's non-functional again. The cycle can be repeated daily, but its a pain to reset and set it up everyday)
3. Updated the Firmware, and this somehow solved the problem for 3 Days... and now it's back to non-functional, again out of the Blue.
Is the Router just busted and it's not remembering the settings?
The wireless drops specifically from my laptop constantly at random times. When the wireless drops in order for me to be able to reconnect i have to restart the router itself. There are also random times where the Wi-Fi stops broadcasting altogether. I have a computer connected via Ethernet and it does not lose connection during these times. All the computers are running Windows 7 and the Router is up to date on firmware.

Currently, it's not broadcasting an N signal, but instead an A signal, even though I have the 5 GHz network set to N-only, and the 2.4 GHz one to G-only. I have the latest firmware version.

I noticed that the speed my computers report that they are connected to the wireless network connection is now 144.5 mps, versus 270 mps with the WRT300N. There is no change in location of the devices or computers. The computers use a WUSB300N adapter. Is there a setting or setup that needs to be changed?

The application is accessing a security DVR which uses a RTSP / RTP stream. Of course this requires certian ports to be forwarded in order for this to work. This works flawlessly with a WRT310N or a Cisco 871 Router so I know the port forwarding is correct.
With the E4200V2 it works intermittently, I can replace EV4200V2 with either the Cisco 871 or the WRT310N and there are no issues.
well, i just bought an E4200 and, by the way, was very hard to configurate. But the real problem is: if there is a power loss, both modem and e4200 lights up, but no internet connection is provided.Even the SSID desappear. I trried to disconnected everything, reconnect by parts, but no success.I wired connect the E4200 to my iMac and the router was ok, configurated.Then, i reconnect to the modem and all worked ok.Now im testing possibilities and is i reboot the router, the net desappear and i have to try possibilities till it works.
My older router connected automatically, without a problem, but i decide to buy "the best" brand and its top product". Now im disappointed..
Twice i realize that if the connections drops out, i have to disconnect and reconnect the internet cable from my E4200...
All of a sudden I started experiencing occasional loss of communication with my router. I tried updating the firmware to the latest (1.0.04) but am still experiencing the same thing.I don't lose internet access, I lose connection to the router itself. If I power cycle the router, the connection is re-established and I'm able to access the router and in turn the internet. I'm seeing this on both wired and wireless connections. Last night the Cisco logo actually turned off when I lost connection (this was a first). When I power cycled, connection was restored and the logo lit up again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving several issues w my E1200. For quite some time I have had intermittent loss of internet connection. This was somewhat true even before I got a wifi router. & it has continued. Recently it has been even worse & I'm not sure if it is my isp, my cable modem or the router. ISP came out & checked & said signals looked ok, although modem is old.Now i find out that the version of Cisco Connect that i had been using is incompatible w Mountain Lion so it won't work now. & newly downloaded dmg files say they are damaged (or that app has been modified or damaged--I'm not in a position to tell which but same results after I downloaded a 2nd time).
I have been having more frequent loss of internet connection at home. & when I click on the wifi icon to check, it shows it looking for networks. Also it has not been uncommon to see that it has switched to my guest network.Why would it switch to my guest network? What is the difference between the 2 besides the fact that I guess the guest network doesn't have access to everything on my regular network (which right now is only my iPhone, but may get wireless printer).Also when it shows the lists of networks that it "sees" my guest network does not show a padlock icon so what does that mean? It does have the default password.
Also because I had no idea that Cisco Connect was not compatible w Mountain Lion I didn't even think to check for upgrades before I upgraded to Mountain Lion & now I can't open Cisco Connect. Shows unsupoprted OS. & I'm also stalled trying to update the firmware for the router.I'm really beginning to see why it was cheaper than an Apple Airport Express. Even at a very low hourly rate, the lost time spent when this has not been working right has not been worth what I saved on the purchase price.
A while ago I bought a WRT320N as a trade-in offer, unfortunately I had around 20% packet loss on my connection after I set it up. If running directly through my cable modem I had no connection issues at all.I was running the whole setup cabled, and have no peripherals using the wireless connection.The router was returned to the retailer for RMA, and in the end I got the purchase credited.My setup ISP: Dansk Kabel TV (danish provider for internet, TV etc.)Modem: Netgear CVD31T DOCSIS 3.0 compliant Cablemodem (I do not have access to the modem, as it is provided by the ISP. I have now bought an E2000, and set it up in the same manner as the previous router.This has returned the same problems I had with my previous router.Updating the firmware didn't make any difference.Using Pingtest.net as my test reference I get results like this.when connected directly to the modem I get 0% packet loss, max 20ms ping and jitter is 2-3ms.Have I been so unlucky to get 2 faulty routers in a row, or could there be some problems with Linksys routers and Netgear?I have unsuccessfully tried switching cables without any change, tried moving the router "far" away from the modem, monitors etc to see if there could be any interference from the wireless.

The media server works fine but after a while i loose contact with the router and the server this means that the Cisco connect doesn't work, the 192.168.1.1 doesn't work and I can't find the disk via \. I do have internet connection via wifi as im using it now....why I loose connection to the router? The lease time is 24h and it can happen more than once in a day.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wrt110 firmware .05 has been working fine until now. I have a couple of phones, 2 printers, 3 laptops and a wii happily connecting to it. However now when I power on the wireless device, nothing can connect wirelessly. Wired connection is fine, but my wireless network disappears. No device can find the network, although it is there and set up on the admin pages. I pull the power chord out for 30 seconds and try again to get it going again, a bit like trying to start a car. Everntually devices find the network.
On two occasions it has forgotten the wireless settings and restored an open 'linksys' network. It's really infuriating becuase whilst I restore the SSID and use the same key, not all the devices actually recognise it and have to be reconfigured on the devices.

I used to see this with my old WRT54GS and connected at 100Mbps Full Duplex or Half Duplex and I currently see this when connected through the E4200 at 100Mbps full or half duplex AND when connected via Gigabit via one of the 4 ports on the back of my cable modem, a Motorola SBG6580 [URL] This next screen capture is what happens when I try to connect via Gigabit thru the E4200. It either starts out like this right away or within 30 seconds to a minute this will start to occur. I believe the red spikes indicate packet loss. [URL]
