I've had a refurbished EA2700 since a few days after Black Friday. I've had some issues with it since day one. Currently, it's not broadcasting an N signal, but instead an A signal, even though I have the 5 GHz network set to N-only, and the 2.4 GHz one to G-only. I have the latest firmware version.

I just bought a certified refurbished router. The model is WRT610N-RM. Where's what I've done:
1. Downloaded newest firmware from the site using old router, Then disconnected. Connected a lan cable to the new router. Powered up the router. Held down reset untill the light blinks. Went to the browser and typed 192.168.1.1. Entered password to go into router and upgraded firmware. 2. 5 Ghz Settings: Went to Wireless menu. Selected "manual", mode is "mixed" (If i chose N only for 5 Ghz, then It won't save my setting for internet security. Instead it will be "disable" no matter what". The rest was default. SSID is enabled. Then I set up the 2.5 Ghz. I have 3 other computers with N wireless card. Some others have G, however when I viewed available networks, I only see the 2.4 Ghz ssid. I tried to reboot and unplug power for 10 seconds, but no luck seeing the 5 Ghz.
I set up the IPv6 on EA2700 (running firmware v1.1.39), and all the wired clients can get an IPv6 address, assigned by the router, without issue.However, all the wireless clients seem to unable to get an IPv6 address. If I connect a laptop to the router both wirelessly and with an ethernet cable, then the ethernet NIC gets an IPv6 IP but not the wireless NIC.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI set up EA6500. All kinds of problems with anything on the 2.4 MHz band. My wireless desktop on the 5.0 MHz band was flawless. So I ran Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector (freeware). The router is transmitting two 2.4 MHz signals! One is the SSID I set up and named. The other one is identical in every way except that the BSSID is slightly different. It is a non-broadcasted SSID that shows up on every device as "Other Network." I was on the phone with Cisco Support tonite, and they were great as usual but had no answer. If you change the channel on the 2.4 MHz band, the shadow network also changes to the same channel (this blew the Tech's mind). We reset the router to factory settings and started over. They are calling me back tomorrow. This router has great features on paper, but so far, it has not delivered.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the E2500 and both bands are only broadcasting transfer rates at 144N instead of the advertised 300N. My old router broadcast at the 300N rate on the same ISP serving a range of devices. I contacted chat support and tried to discuss the issue for about 30-60 minutes before getting fed up with the lack of progress on the issue. The gist I got from the support agent was that I would only be able to achieve the 300N rate in N only mode instead of the mixed mode. I don't know the available modes of all the client devices that would need to connect but this would not be acceptable as my old router was capable of serving the range of devices while also giving the max rate of 300N to those devices that could utilize it. I verified the difference in transfer rates using [URL] with my old router giving the higher rates expected from 300N over 144N.

(2.4 & 5). The idea is I want to stream video on the 5Ghz band. Nothing seems to see it though, TV other PCs, etc.

I am able to connect to the router (both wired and wireless), ccess the settings, etc but cant reach the net. I've tried turning off the firewall, flushing the DNS, disabledthe IPv6. Did all the basic steps, resett the modem/router, etc...nothing. i hook the Belkin up and it connects just fine

This also disables access to router's address 192.168.1.1 forcing me to reset the device and set it up all over again. Why is this happening? I tried this at least five times with the same result. Second question I have is if the DHCP reservation is the right option if I want to forward ports for certain applications like Vuze? When the DHCP reservation window opens I see all my wireless devices in the list (laptop, phone) but not the main computer which is connected through ethernet port. But that is yet another problem.
I've got a cable modem, connection is set to Automatic DHCP and I all want is to disable all firewalls, NAT and other unnecessary protection that's slowing my internet speed, set up MAC address filtering, port forwarding and close this terrible software so I never have to see it or think about it ever again.
i have a EA2700 router and I'm connectied wirelessly to my PS3. If i am not hosting a game i will be lagging all over the place yet it says i have full connection to majority of games that i connect to. i paid 115 dollars for this router and am very dissapointed that its doing this. Also no there is no way for me to connect wired to the router it is to far away. Also i tried bringing my ps3 to my friends house and played on his wireless connection and it worked perfectly so its deffinetly my router.

I am not able to access the web interface of the router.No, i am not using cisco cloud or smartlink .. yes, it has the latest firmware (Ver.1.0.14.129982).Yes, I might be able to get to it if i shut down the router and turn it on again a few minutes later, but the problem is.. why? why do i have to interrupt connections and not have internet to log into the admin web interface of this device? Is there a known problem with it that makes the webservice go down?.. or to take extremely long to respond and thus the browser to quit on it throwing an error?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having no end of issues with this router since the upgrade to CCC. I don't want to downgrade because the reason I purchased the router was for the hopeful addition of more apps later on and the CCC.
My router has now suddenly decided to no longer broadcast N signals. My 2.4ghz network is set for mixed and my 5ghz is set for N Only. They are both set to auto channel and WPA2 Personal security and have been working since I purchased the router on Sunday.
Last night it spontaneously rebooted and that was that.
Both laptops (with N adapters) are seeing the 2.4ghz network as 802.11g and my 300Mbps notebook adapter is seeing the 5ghz network as 802.11a. InSSIDer is showing that both networks are now broadcasting at a max of 54Mbps.
I have tried rebooting the router multiple times. I have also tried unplugging it for 60 seconds. I have also attempted to force the 2.4ghz to 20Mhz and a more optimal (unused) channel. That doesn't work. I tried setting the 5ghz network to wide (40mhz) with an optimal channel. Same deal. Still seeing it as 802.11a.
My router has recently stopped broadcasting wifi, unfortunately it also no longer lets me use it as a router to get internet. if i plug directly into the modem i can get internet. but while using the router i get a computer symbol with an explanation mark on it

The 5 band still worked (my wife's phone could still connect to it no problem).My cell is a motorola Razr maxx and only works on the 2.4. I have an app (wifi analyzer) that allows me to see what is happening with my network - specifically when i would try to connect to my network - my network name would be listed but as soon as I hit "connect" it would disappear. Only to come back into the list saying "MYNETWORK saved, secured WPA/WPA2". Every time I would try to connect same thing. Contemporaneously, I would check the network activity using wifi analyzer and could see that roughly each time I tried to connect to my network - it would drop off completely.Ok - after scouring the internet - it does seem that a wireless router can stop broadcasting on the 2.4 and still have the 5 band work. (btw - my pc is hardwired through the router and is not affected).So I bought a new Linksys 3500 dual band router. I installed it and it has worked fine....up until yesterday.Now I have the same problem. While my wife's phone still works on the 5 band it will not work on the 2.4. This is an unacceptable situation and this thing will be tossed if it cannot be fixed. Can this be reset so it won't disconnect? or do I need to replace it with a product from another company?

If I'm connected to the router wirelessly or through any of the lan ports, I can't visit the modem's diagnostics page at 192.168.100.1. If I connect directly to the modem, it works fine. Also I cannot ping the modem through the router, just get a timeout. My ISP is Comcast.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have tried all the speed test sites and tried downloads with and without my EA2700. Every test shows about half the perfomance when connected through the router. My speed tests at speedtest.net with a direct connection are in the 21-26Mbps range, the same tests run about a minute later through the EA2700 fall in the 10-12Mbps range with spikes up to 17Mbps.I've reset the router and modem.I've gone back to the 1.0.14.129982 Firmware (which it's currently on)I've set the MTU everywhere from 1400 to 1500 (literally EVERY setting for at least a couple of hours) it is 1492 currently. None of these have worked. In addition, when a large stream starts, such as a Steam download, I will lose ALL connectivity. Going in to Network and Sharing and clicking to connect to the internet restores the connection, no need to reset any hardware (which is odd in itself). I have had MANY routers over the years and I've all but exhausted support with service provider as the connection is solid if I eliminate the router.Main machine is a Windows 7 Home edition Total of 5 machines, 3 of which see regular use All machines go through a Trendnet 16 port switch and performance is the same direct or through the switch I m on Brighthouse in Central Florida and have all but exhausted their support.

The connections keeps dropping and the range is the same as my Verizon-FiOS router. Anyway, I'm hoping that a fix be distributed to address this issue. I can't return my router to the vendor anymore.
Now, since I have two routers, I want to be able to leverage EA2700's dual-band feature and the Guest-access feature but I can't make this as a main router since my FiOS router should still be able to supply IP addresses to my cable boxes, thus, I can't configure it as a Bridge. I'm thinking if I just split the IP distribution as follows:
FiOS router: 192.168.1.2-110
EA2700: 192.168.1.111-150

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time after the router (Linksys EA2700) is powered off and restarted, there is no interent access available. The router configuration status reports an Internet Address of 0.0.0.0 and all the devices at home are left with a wifi without Internet access. I have to unplug the WAN from the router and plug it in again while it is turned on to restore internet access (and a normal Internet Address is seen from the status page). The WAN works fine with the routers I had previously. I wonder if I have to perform this every time I power on the router. I have tried resetting the router and reinstalling Cisco Connect but that didn't work.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an EA2700 (fimware "classic" 1.0.14.129982) that used to work perfectly fine with a Comcast cable modem. I just recently switched to Charter with an Arris TM902 modem and that's where the problems started. The cable modem will not recognize my router. I have to plug in a computer into the cable model when it starts up. Then I need to clone the MAC address and restart the router (after disconnecting the computer). Why isn't the cable modem recognizing the router when I restart it? I guess this could work if it would be a one time thing but I had to power-cycle the modem and it stopped recognizing the router even with the cloned MAC address. So I had to do the whole spiel again.
Is there any way to make this work easier? Should I update my router's firmware to the "smart" one?
I just bought linksys EA2700 to replace my U.S Robotics .. but when i try to connect it like the old router , the internet lights won't turn on, is it because i have to use a modem then use ethernet cable ? can't i just use ADSL cable directly to the router like robotics router ? when i try to configure it manually , i change the internet type to PPoE protocol but i can't find VCI/VPI so where are they ?
