Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 - Configuring FiOS As Bridge?
Sep 11, 2012
I recently bought an EA2700 in hopes that it will make my connection faster, stronger signal and stable. However, this is not the case. The connections keeps dropping and the range is the same as my Verizon-FiOS router. Anyway, I'm hoping that a fix be distributed to address this issue. I can't return my router to the vendor anymore.
Now, since I have two routers, I want to be able to leverage EA2700's dual-band feature and the Guest-access feature but I can't make this as a main router since my FiOS router should still be able to supply IP addresses to my cable boxes, thus, I can't configure it as a Bridge. I'm thinking if I just split the IP distribution as follows:
I need to front-end my ISP's router with another, giving me a DMZ. I have bought an EA2700 for this but I can't find how to configure it.
I plan to have the DMZ network as 10.1.2.0/24, with the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254 and the EA2700's "upstream" connection as 10.1.2.1. The internal network (where most of the clients reside) will then be 10.1.1.0/24, with the EA2700 itself at 10.1.1.254 and a DHCP range 10.1.1.100 upwards.
On the basic setup screen I've set the Internet connection type to fixed IP, 10.1.2.1; I've set its default gateway and DNS1 as the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254. Then further down in network setup I've entered the *internal* address 10.1.1.254 and set the DHCP range and netmask appropriately. I'm getting the error message "The IPv4 address and gateway are not in the same subnet mask". But the only gateway I've entered is the one by which the *EA2700* knows how to route upstream traffic, viz the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254. Or am I misunderstanding?
More fundamentally, can the EA2700 be configured in this way?
I'm considering purchasing the "Cisco Linksys - E1200 Wireless-N Router with 4-Port Ethernet Switch". Before I do, however, I want to know how to configure it as a wireless bridge to my existing wireless network.I have a hardware device with only an ethernet connection (no wireless option avaialble). I want to connect the device to a wireless router / access point, in this case it would be the e1200, and then connect to my existing wireless network. The e1200 would be acting like a client of the existing network.I found this article but Step 8 is causing concern. I do not want a wired connection. The two routers must connect wirelessly.
So, I bought an E4200 today. I don't know if it's v1 or 2. The box doesn't say v2, so I'm assuming it's v1.
I'm trying to set it up and I have the most recent version of the Mac OS operating system (10.8 Mountain Lion), so the setup CD is not compatible. I'm trying to do a manual set up and it seems that step 1 is to go to 192.168.1.1, which is the same IP that my FIOS router uses, so I go straight there instead of to the E4200.
Has anyone else been able to make this thing work with Mountain Lion and FIOS router?
I bought the Linksys E1200 for it's wireless N and the guest account. set up my new Linksys E1200 router to use for wireless N access rather that my Verizon Fios provided Actiontec (model M4124-WR Rev.C) which is only wireless G, and so that I can use the guest account. I have an ethernet cable running from one of the 4 ethernet ports on the E1200 to one of the 4 LAN ports on the Actiontec. I have the wireless turned off on the Actiontec, and have the E1200 set as 192.168.1.200.My wireless N signal seems to be working fine from the E1200, and I was able to turn on the guest account on the E1200 and "connect" to it on my iPhone 4, but then when I open Safari I can not connect to the internet.
Just had Verizon FIOS service installed. It comes with an actiontec modem. I would like to remove the actiontec modem and connect directly to my Linksys RT31P2 which is cascaded to my Linksys WRT54G. I have tried just about every router setup config; all with no success. How to be able to connect the FIOS directly to a linksys router.
I've just upgraded to FIOS quantum service. (50 MB down, 25 up). I have a Linksys 2500 connected to the FIOS router. The FIOS (ActionTec) router provides the full advertised speeds with any speed test service I try. But with the 2500 connected to the FIOS router I get download speeds about 3MB. The MTU on the linksys is 1500. It's connected correctly and is running it's own DHCP server. (Why am I doing this? I try to avoid the ActionTec routers, they have broken many services in the past.)The 2500 firmware is up to date. I've tested on the wireless and wired (ethernet) interfaces.
I'm trying to configure my Linksys WRT54G2 router as my primary router and have my Actiontec just used for the my FIOS TV (eg VOD, widgets, guide). I've googled many HOWTO's on how to do this but I just cant get it working. So setup up will look like this in th end:
(DHCP Server) (Wireless) (Only TV) Internet >> WRT54G2 >>> Actiontec >>> PC/Laptops | FIOS TV -------------
how to set this up? I understand that the STB devices configured on my Actiontec routers is actually my TV receiver and currently configured with the following IP addresses:
I have that red gigabit router with the 150/65 service. It connects via ethernet for internet and has a coax to transmit the guide data etc.So my idea was to just leave the Verizon router connected and on (with wi-fi off) so it could do the TV stuff and just plug my router into the ethernet wall port the Verizon guy installed. Not so easy of course, my E4200 will not recognize the ethernet from my ONT (I think that's what the device they put in my basement is called) and the internet doesn't work. I have factory reset the router. The reason I am doing all this is because the wireless range of the e4200 at 2.4ghz is near unmatched and given my house, the actiontech cannot reach my room.
I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (18.104.22.168856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.
I am trying to set up my E1200 router to Frontier FIOS internet. I went thru the setup and it failed to connect to the internet. What settings do I need? Frontier says that it should find the connection automatically.
i got an ea2700 and i cant get the external to work internally which i need for server tests now this has worked before on every other router i had without any editing done but this one doest allow that so what can i do to make it work with this router?
I recently purchased an EA2700 to replace an old Belkin. I ran the set up CD and I am unable to establish an internet connection. I am able to connect to the router (both wired and wireless), ccess the settings, etc but cant reach the net. I've tried turning off the firewall, flushing the DNS, disabledthe IPv6. Did all the basic steps, resett the modem/router, etc...nothing. i hook the Belkin up and it connects just fine
I have EA2700 Router which support to be a dual-band wireless router and I am trying to connect to my router using 5 Ghz band with AE2500 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter, I am only seeing 2.4 Ghz wireless band plus even if I manually enter my 5 Ghz SSID my network adapter still wouldn't work on 5 Ghz band. Is there any specific set up in order get 5 Ghz band to work?
My first issue with this device is when I try to untick NAT to disable it I lose my internet connection. This also disables access to router's address 192.168.1.1 forcing me to reset the device and set it up all over again. Why is this happening? I tried this at least five times with the same result. Second question I have is if the DHCP reservation is the right option if I want to forward ports for certain applications like Vuze? When the DHCP reservation window opens I see all my wireless devices in the list (laptop, phone) but not the main computer which is connected through ethernet port. But that is yet another problem.
I've got a cable modem, connection is set to Automatic DHCP and I all want is to disable all firewalls, NAT and other unnecessary protection that's slowing my internet speed, set up MAC address filtering, port forwarding and close this terrible software so I never have to see it or think about it ever again.
i have a EA2700 router and I'm connectied wirelessly to my PS3. If i am not hosting a game i will be lagging all over the place yet it says i have full connection to majority of games that i connect to. i paid 115 dollars for this router and am very dissapointed that its doing this. Also no there is no way for me to connect wired to the router it is to far away. Also i tried bringing my ps3 to my friends house and played on his wireless connection and it worked perfectly so its deffinetly my router.
EA2700v1 WPS-PIN using 5GHz does not work. This router includes WPS header in its 5GHz beacon and probe response but the router removes the WPS header from them once WPS-PIN starts. There is no problem with WPS-PIN using 2.4GHz.
I am not able to access the web interface of the router. No, i am not using cisco cloud or smartlink .. yes, it has the latest firmware (Ver.22.214.171.124982).Yes, I might be able to get to it if i shut down the router and turn it on again a few minutes later, but the problem is.. why? why do i have to interrupt connections and not have internet to log into the admin web interface of this device? Is there a known problem with it that makes the webservice go down?.. or to take extremely long to respond and thus the browser to quit on it throwing an error?
My new EA 2700 disconnects from the internet if the desktop is idle for more than 30 minutes. needs to be unplugged for a few minutes then it will reconnect. This is an unacceptable situation and this thing will be tossed if it cannot be fixed. Can this be reset so it won't disconnect? or do I need to replace it with a product from another company?
I have an Cisco EA2700 router and a Motorola SB6121 modem. If I'm connected to the router wirelessly or through any of the lan ports, I can't visit the modem's diagnostics page at 192.168.100.1. If I connect directly to the modem, it works fine. Also I cannot ping the modem through the router, just get a timeout. My ISP is Comcast.
I have tried all the speed test sites and tried downloads with and without my EA2700. Every test shows about half the perfomance when connected through the router. My speed tests at speedtest.net with a direct connection are in the 21-26Mbps range, the same tests run about a minute later through the EA2700 fall in the 10-12Mbps range with spikes up to 17Mbps.I've reset the router and modem.I've gone back to the 126.96.36.199982 Firmware (which it's currently on)I've set the MTU everywhere from 1400 to 1500 (literally EVERY setting for at least a couple of hours) it is 1492 currently. None of these have worked. In addition, when a large stream starts, such as a Steam download, I will lose ALL connectivity. Going in to Network and Sharing and clicking to connect to the internet restores the connection, no need to reset any hardware (which is odd in itself). I have had MANY routers over the years and I've all but exhausted support with service provider as the connection is solid if I eliminate the router.Main machine is a Windows 7 Home edition Total of 5 machines, 3 of which see regular use All machines go through a Trendnet 16 port switch and performance is the same direct or through the switch I m on Brighthouse in Central Florida and have all but exhausted their support.
went through setup twice, double checked connections, bought new ethernet cable from router to computer, still not connecting. However when i go from my modem to computer i get connected. could i have a faulty router. the router is new from walmart the ea2700.
Every time after the router (Linksys EA2700) is powered off and restarted, there is no interent access available. The router configuration status reports an Internet Address of 0.0.0.0 and all the devices at home are left with a wifi without Internet access. I have to unplug the WAN from the router and plug it in again while it is turned on to restore internet access (and a normal Internet Address is seen from the status page). The WAN works fine with the routers I had previously. I wonder if I have to perform this every time I power on the router. I have tried resetting the router and reinstalling Cisco Connect but that didn't work.
I have a EA2700 and will try to reserve an IP address to a PC, but getting up that address is invalid.I already have two reservations, which is 192.168.10.10 and .... 50, I try to reserve ...... 20 but am getting alert that this then is "Invaldi IP".
I have an EA2700 (fimware "classic" 188.8.131.52982) that used to work perfectly fine with a Comcast cable modem. I just recently switched to Charter with an Arris TM902 modem and that's where the problems started. The cable modem will not recognize my router. I have to plug in a computer into the cable model when it starts up. Then I need to clone the MAC address and restart the router (after disconnecting the computer). Why isn't the cable modem recognizing the router when I restart it? I guess this could work if it would be a one time thing but I had to power-cycle the modem and it stopped recognizing the router even with the cloned MAC address. So I had to do the whole spiel again.
Is there any way to make this work easier? Should I update my router's firmware to the "smart" one?
I just bought linksys EA2700 to replace my U.S Robotics .. but when i try to connect it like the old router , the internet lights won't turn on, is it because i have to use a modem then use ethernet cable ? can't i just use ADSL cable directly to the router like robotics router ? when i try to configure it manually , i change the internet type to PPoE protocol but i can't find VCI/VPI so where are they ?
I have a Cisco outer EA2700 connected using a Lan cable, Lan cable works fine as I connected it directly to my PC, I am unable to access wifi network connection, I am able to search the router and also able to cnnect to the router, But wireless connection shows limited or no connectivity, and unable to access any websites. It was working fine till yesterday, I tried rebootng ad also unplug and replug the network cable also reset the router but does not work
I have a nest in the house and upgraded my router because nest is very picky with what routers it works with..something to do with power save mode and NAT settings Read here.well the linksys was working just fine with the nest until I upgraded the firmware to the smart wifi thing...it's a EA2700 btw.
My new router has started to disconnect for a second or so from the internet then reconnect. I have been unable to see the issue and changing the frequency was unsuccessful. This has also been happening when connecting both wired and wirelessly
