Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 - Configuring FiOS As Bridge?

Sep 11, 2012

I recently bought an EA2700 in hopes that it will make my connection faster, stronger signal and stable. However, this is not the case. The connections keeps dropping and the range is the same as my Verizon-FiOS router. Anyway, I'm hoping that a fix be distributed to address this issue. I can't return my router to the vendor anymore.
Now, since I have two routers, I want to be able to leverage EA2700's dual-band feature and the Guest-access feature but I can't make this as a main router since my FiOS router should still be able to supply IP addresses to my cable boxes, thus, I can't configure it as a Bridge. I'm thinking if I just split the IP distribution as follows:

Linksys Wireless Router :: Configuring EA2700 As Second-level Router?

Jan 28, 2013

I need to front-end my ISP's router with another, giving me a DMZ.  I have bought an EA2700 for this but I can't find how to configure it.
I plan to have the DMZ network as, with the ISP's router at and the EA2700's "upstream" connection as  The internal network (where most of the clients reside) will then be, with the EA2700 itself at and a DHCP range upwards.
On the basic setup screen I've set the Internet connection type to fixed IP,; I've set its default gateway and DNS1 as the ISP's router at  Then further down in network setup I've entered the *internal* address and set the DHCP range and netmask appropriately.  I'm getting the error message "The IPv4 address and gateway are not in the same subnet mask".  But the only gateway I've entered is the one by which the *EA2700* knows how to route upstream traffic, viz the ISP's router at  Or am I misunderstanding?
More fundamentally, can the EA2700 be configured in this way?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Configuring E1200 As Wireless Bridge

Jun 16, 2012

I'm considering purchasing the "Cisco Linksys - E1200 Wireless-N Router with 4-Port Ethernet Switch". Before I do, however, I want to know how to configure it as a wireless bridge to my existing wireless network.I have a hardware device with only an ethernet connection (no wireless option avaialble). I want to connect the device to a wireless router / access point, in this case it would be the e1200, and then connect to my existing wireless network. The e1200 would be acting like a client of the existing network.I found this article but Step 8 is causing concern. I do not want a wired connection. The two routers must connect wirelessly.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Set Up New E4200 With Verizon FIOS

Dec 13, 2012

So, I bought an E4200 today. I don't know if it's v1 or 2. The box doesn't say v2, so I'm assuming it's v1.
I'm trying to set it up and I have the most recent version of the Mac OS operating system (10.8 Mountain Lion), so the setup CD is not compatible. I'm trying to do a manual set up and it seems that step 1 is to go to, which is the same IP that my FIOS router uses, so I go straight there instead of to the E4200.
Has anyone else been able to make this thing work with Mountain Lion and FIOS router?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 With Verizon Fios Actiontec?

Feb 8, 2012

I bought the Linksys E1200 for it's wireless N and the guest account. set up my new Linksys E1200 router to use for wireless N access rather that my Verizon Fios provided Actiontec (model M4124-WR Rev.C) which is only wireless G, and so that I can use the guest account. I have an ethernet cable running from one of the 4 ethernet ports on the E1200 to one of the 4 LAN ports on the Actiontec. I have the wireless turned off on the Actiontec, and have the E1200 set as wireless N signal seems to be working fine from the E1200, and I was able to turn on the guest account on the E1200 and "connect" to it on my iPhone 4, but then when I open Safari I can not connect to the internet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Getting Slow Throughput With FIOS Quantum

Aug 14, 2012

I've just upgraded to FIOS quantum service.  (50 MB down, 25 up).  I have a Linksys 2500 connected to the FIOS router.  The FIOS (ActionTec) router provides the full advertised speeds with any speed test service I try.  But with the 2500 connected to the FIOS router I get download speeds about 3MB. The MTU on the linksys is 1500.  It's connected correctly and is running it's own DHCP server.  (Why am I doing this?  I try to avoid the ActionTec routers, they have broken many services in the past.)The 2500 firmware is up to date.  I've tested on the wireless and wired (ethernet) interfaces.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Verizon FIOS Internet / TV Setup With WRT54G2?

Nov 29, 2009

I'm trying to configure my Linksys WRT54G2 router as my primary router and have my Actiontec just used for the my FIOS TV (eg VOD, widgets, guide).  I've googled many HOWTO's on how to do this but I just cant get it working.  So setup up will look like this in th end:

(DHCP Server)
(Wireless)        (Only TV)
Internet >> WRT54G2 >>> Actiontec >>> PC/Laptops
FIOS TV -------------
how to set this up?  I understand that the STB devices configured on my Actiontec routers is actually my TV receiver and currently configured with the following IP addresses:
IP-STB1:Connection Type:    Coax
IP-STB2:Connection Type:    Coax
IP-STB3:Connection Type:    Coax
I have COAX Ethernet setup so everything is going through ethernet per Verizon phone tech.
Actiontec Firmware Version:
WRT54G2 = DDWRT firmware
I've tried the following HOWTO's to no avail.[URL]

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Replacing Gigabit FIOS Router?

Feb 3, 2013

I have that red gigabit router with the 150/65 service.  It connects via ethernet for internet and has a coax to transmit the guide data etc.So my idea was to just leave the Verizon router connected and on (with wi-fi off) so it could do the TV stuff and just plug my router into the ethernet wall port the Verizon guy installed. Not so easy of course, my E4200 will not recognize the ethernet from my ONT (I think that's what the device they put in my basement is called) and the internet doesn't work.  I have factory reset the router. The reason I am doing all this is because the wireless range of the e4200 at 2.4ghz is near unmatched and given my house, the actiontech cannot reach my room.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 No Internet Connected To Verizon FIOS Actiontec Router

Jan 20, 2013

I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 - NAT And Port Forwarding?

Feb 6, 2013

My first issue with this device is when I try to untick NAT to disable it I lose my internet connection. This also disables access to router's address forcing me to reset the device and set it up all over again. Why is this happening? I tried this at least five times with the same result. Second question I have is if the DHCP reservation is the right option if I want to forward ports for certain applications like Vuze? When the DHCP reservation window opens I see all my wireless devices in the list (laptop, phone) but not the main computer which is connected through ethernet port. But that is yet another problem.
I've got a cable modem, connection is set to Automatic DHCP and I all want is to disable all firewalls, NAT and other unnecessary protection that's slowing my internet speed, set up MAC address filtering, port forwarding and close this terrible software so I never have to see it or think about it ever again.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 - Getting Poor Download Speed?

Sep 20, 2012

I have tried all the speed test sites and tried downloads with and without my EA2700. Every test shows about half the perfomance when connected through the router. My speed tests at with a direct connection are in the 21-26Mbps range, the same tests run about a minute later through the EA2700 fall in the 10-12Mbps range with spikes up to 17Mbps.I've reset the router and modem.I've gone back to the Firmware (which it's currently on)I've set the MTU everywhere from 1400 to 1500 (literally EVERY setting for at least a couple of hours) it is 1492 currently. None of these have worked. In addition, when a large stream starts, such as a Steam download, I will lose ALL connectivity. Going in to Network and Sharing and clicking to connect to the internet restores the connection, no need to reset any hardware (which is odd in itself). I have had MANY routers over the years and I've all but exhausted support with service provider as the connection is solid if I eliminate the router.Main machine is a Windows 7 Home edition Total of 5 machines, 3 of which see regular use All machines go through a Trendnet 16 port switch and performance is the same direct or through the switch I m on Brighthouse in Central Florida and have all but exhausted their support.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 Not Recognized By Cable Modem?

Feb 24, 2013

I have an EA2700 (fimware "classic" that used to work perfectly fine with a Comcast cable modem.  I just recently switched to Charter with an Arris TM902 modem and that's where the problems started.  The cable modem will not recognize my router.  I have to plug in a computer into the cable model when it starts up.  Then I need to clone the MAC address and restart the router (after disconnecting the computer).  Why isn't the cable modem recognizing the router when I restart it?  I guess this could work if it would be a one time thing but I had to power-cycle the modem and it stopped recognizing the router even with the cloned MAC address.  So I had to do the whole spiel again.
Is there any way to make this work easier?  Should I update my router's firmware to the "smart" one?
