Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Getting Slow Throughput With FIOS Quantum

Aug 14, 2012

I've just upgraded to FIOS quantum service.  (50 MB down, 25 up).  I have a Linksys 2500 connected to the FIOS router.  The FIOS (ActionTec) router provides the full advertised speeds with any speed test service I try.  But with the 2500 connected to the FIOS router I get download speeds about 3MB. The MTU on the linksys is 1500.  It's connected correctly and is running it's own DHCP server.  (Why am I doing this?  I try to avoid the ActionTec routers, they have broken many services in the past.)The 2500 firmware is up to date.  I've tested on the wireless and wired (ethernet) interfaces.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Low Throughput With E2500

Feb 1, 2012

I have a E2500 connected via LAN to my network via a switch or hub through a sonic wall and into the modem out to the internet. The problem is that I am only getting +/- 5Mpbs Down and +/-7 Mbps up through the router.

If I connect my computer to the network with out going through the router my speeds are more in the range of +/-28 Mbps down and 16Mbps up. I have been working with Linksys support but they have not been able to assist me with this yet! Is there any configuring I should be doing at the firewall or to the router to tell it to open up the port for faster speeds?

Linksys Access Point :: E2500 Or E3200 - Best Option To Set Up Wireless With Verizon FiOS?

Dec 7, 2011

I have Verizon FiOs and their provided wireless router does not cover my entire house. There are plenty of dead spots throughout the house (house is 3500sq. ft.)

The FiOS comes into the basement so currently I have their router is set up in the basement. I wanted to shut off their FiOS wireless router and use my new E4200 router for wireless coverage. I am pretty sure the E4200 alone will not be able to handle my house. Most of the rooms of the house are already prewired with Ethernet cables. All those wires converge in the same closet in the basement, therefore moving the router is not an option.  I was thinking of putting whichever product you experts recommend in my office which is on the 2nd floor on one side of the house. This room does have Ethernet access. However it is currently at 50-60% signal (with FiOS). My bedroom which is on the opposite side of the house is at 10-20% signal (with FiOS).

I am looking to buy something to reach all the deadspots and have WIRED LAN access (if need be in the future). What is my best option? I have researched the RE1000, the WAP610N, and even some of the other routers (E2500 or E3200)  for hours. I am not an expert, and frankly after hours of reading, these technical terms of "range expanding" and "access points" are all sounding synonymous to me. I guess what I need is the range expansion on the same WiFi SSID my E4200 will provide (to cover all areas of my house), as well as an access point for connecting TVs, Xbox, or PCs in the future.

1) RE1000

2) WAP610N

3) or a router to use as an access point/range expansion combo? E2500 or E3200?

Naturally, is the range capability better for Routers or the WAP610N or RE1000?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Slow Speed?

Apr 10, 2013

I bought the new E2500 Router about 5 months ago and it was great until one day the wilreless part would not give me any speed at all. I ran a wired test of the router and I would get full 30Mbps speed that I'm supposed to get. So after firmware updates and everything else I took it back and got another one.It has worked great for a month and today it's now doing the same wilress slow down issue. I can run a lan connected test and get full speed. But wireless is bouncing around at 5Mbps~13Mbps. No where near the 30Mbps I'm supposed to be getting. What is causing the wireless to bomb like this?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Has A Slow Oscillating Signal

May 1, 2012

I upgraded my WRT54N to an E2500 in November 2011 and I am now having problems with a slow signal that oscillates according to Speedtest.net.  Results with the router are a ping of 300-500 ms and a wide variability on download speeds in a single test of 0.5 Mbps to 3 Mbps.  When I bypass the router my results improve to a ping of about 65 ms and a constant download speed of about 4.25 Mbps which is the extent of what my ISP can offer due to my rural location.  My network has two desktops (one Mac, one PC), an occasional MacBook Air, an occasional PS3 connection (though the variable signal has rendered the PS3 useless for online play), and my iPhone when I'm home.

So far, I have reset the router and ensured the latest firmware is installed.  I also relocated the router to another section of the house, thinking it may be experiencing interference.  Interestingly enough, I can unplug the router for 10 seconds, reboot it and it works great for about 30 seconds or long enough to run Speedtest a couple of times.  Then it returns to the same slow, oscillating pattern.

I've connected my notebook to the network and the connection speed for the notebook is approx. 5.5 Mbps compared to 21.5 Mbps for the desktop connection. why the notebook connection is so much slower?I've just reinstalled both the E2500 and EA2500 tonight. I'm not sure whether or not there was such a vast difference in speed between the two before the reinstallation.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Set Up New E4200 With Verizon FIOS

Dec 13, 2012

So, I bought an E4200 today. I don't know if it's v1 or 2. The box doesn't say v2, so I'm assuming it's v1.

I'm trying to set it up and I have the most recent version of the Mac OS operating system (10.8 Mountain Lion), so the setup CD is not compatible. I'm trying to do a manual set up and it seems that step 1 is to go to 192.168.1.1, which is the same IP that my FIOS router uses, so I go straight there instead of to the E4200.

Has anyone else been able to make this thing work with Mountain Lion and FIOS router?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 - Configuring FiOS As Bridge?

Sep 11, 2012

I recently bought an EA2700 in hopes that it will make my connection faster, stronger signal and stable. However, this is not the case. The connections keeps dropping and the range is the same as my Verizon-FiOS router. Anyway, I'm hoping that a fix be distributed to address this issue. I can't return my router to the vendor anymore.

Now, since I have two routers, I want to be able to leverage EA2700's dual-band feature and the Guest-access feature but I can't make this as a main router since my FiOS router should still be able to supply IP addresses to my cable boxes, thus, I can't configure it as a Bridge. I'm thinking if I just split the IP distribution as follows:

FiOS router: 192.168.1.2-110
EA2700: 192.168.1.111-150

Linksys Wireless Router :: Verizon FIOS Internet / TV Setup With WRT54G2?

Nov 29, 2009

I'm trying to configure my Linksys WRT54G2 router as my primary router and have my Actiontec just used for the my FIOS TV (eg VOD, widgets, guide).  I've googled many HOWTO's on how to do this but I just cant get it working.  So setup up will look like this in th end:

(DHCP Server)
(Wireless)        (Only TV)
Internet >> WRT54G2 >>> Actiontec >>> PC/Laptops
|
FIOS TV -------------

how to set this up?  I understand that the STB devices configured on my Actiontec routers is actually my TV receiver and currently configured with the following IP addresses:

IP-STB1:Connection Type:    Coax
192.168.1.100
IP-STB2:Connection Type:    Coax
192.168.1.101
IP-STB3:Connection Type:    Coax
192.168.1.103

I have COAX Ethernet setup so everything is going through ethernet per Verizon phone tech.

Actiontec Firmware Version:  4.0.16.1.56.0.10.11.6
WRT54G2 = DDWRT firmware

I've tried the following HOWTO's to no avail.[URL]

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Replacing Gigabit FIOS Router?

Feb 3, 2013

I have that red gigabit router with the 150/65 service.  It connects via ethernet for internet and has a coax to transmit the guide data etc.So my idea was to just leave the Verizon router connected and on (with wi-fi off) so it could do the TV stuff and just plug my router into the ethernet wall port the Verizon guy installed. Not so easy of course, my E4200 will not recognize the ethernet from my ONT (I think that's what the device they put in my basement is called) and the internet doesn't work.  I have factory reset the router. The reason I am doing all this is because the wireless range of the e4200 at 2.4ghz is near unmatched and given my house, the actiontech cannot reach my room.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 No Internet Connected To Verizon FIOS Actiontec Router

Jan 20, 2013

I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.

With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).

I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Can't Get Over Ca 10MB/s Data Throughput

Dec 27, 2011

I'm using E4200 (fw 1.0.03) as AP and EDIMAX 6675nD as a client. I can't get over ca 10MB/s data througput even there aren't any other communication loads. Test conditions are: 5GHz band, no other networks in the band, distance 2m without any obstacles, no other data transfers (except the test), data source is NTB on GLAN port of Linksys, data sink is NAS at GLAN port of Edimax, test file is 0.5GB file. The NTB and NAS doesn't seems to be a bottleneck, because NTB connected directly to the Edimax does over 50MB/s. Both the E4200 and 6675nD are (should be) capable of 450Mbit/s @ MCS23. Strange thing is that none of them allows setting of MCS23 in their manual settings. It ends with MCS15. While forcing the E4200 to a specific MCS (in the hidden wireless_advanced menu)  the MCS15, 14, 13 and auto give very similar results. The throughput drops by MCS 12 and lower indexed MCSs.The 10 MB/s seems to be a low number.... and (based on internet forums) I'm not the only one fighting the magic number 10MB/s. What is the reason of the ca 10MB/s bottleneck? And the resons why both of the routers are quiet about the MCS16 to 23 schemes in their menus, while their labels aren't?

Cisco Firewall :: Slow SQLnet Throughput On ASA 5540?

When trying to access a database server using tcp port 1521 (sqlnet) it is about 10 to 20 times slower than when the database is not behind the firewall. We've been running the same software on a database behind an ASA 5520 running version 8.0 (3) with no problems for years. When I check the cpu usage on the 5540 at the ASDM home page, it is rarely above 20% and never above 30% while this is being tested. I tried testing ftp throughput over the same interface and it was normal with ~320 Mbps average rate transferring a 500 MB file.

Cisco :: AP1231G-A-K9 Access Points / Very Slow Throughput

Jul 17, 2012

I recently setup our small office network using the following setup:

Cablemodem <--> router <--> 1231AP(role root bridge with wireless clients) <-> 1231AP(role non-root bridge with wireless clients)Code on both APs: 12.3(8)JEE.Office network generally has less than 3 wireless clients connected at any one time to either AP. AP's are a mere 50' apart; clients are all less than 30' from either AP; they all show excellent signal and connected at 54mbps signaling rates.

All is/has been working very well & very stable with the exception of speed. We have business class service from RR, approx 25mbps dl, 2mbps ul. Any hardwired client to the router switch ports are able to download at speeds averaging 23mbps. Any wireless client connected to either AP is never able to exceed download speeds of 5mbps. With no other wireless clients connected except my one test client, I was not able to exceed 5mbps throughput from either AP that I connected to.

I can confirm that the ethernet connection between the router and root bridge is up at 100mbps-FD and not showing any errors: [code]

Are these very slow thoughput speeds normal of this hardware combination?I did much searching/googling and found claims that by eliminating TKIP it almost doubles the actual wireless speeds our clients can obtain.

Cisco VPN :: 5510 - Slow Throughput On L2L IPsec Tunnel

Jan 8, 2013

I am experiencing slow throughput on a L2L IPsec tunnel that we have between one of our offices on the west coast (WC) US and another on the east coast (EC) US. The tunnel endpoint on the WC resides on a 5510 and a 5545x on the EC. The DIA circuit speed on the WC is 45 Mbps and 200 Mbps on the EC. The throughput of this IPsec tunnel is maxing out at approx. 4 – 5 Mbps. The utilization of the DIA circuits at both offices is under 5% when running various FTP test transfers. Both devices have low memory and CPU utilization.

We have a 2nd office on the EC (45 Mbps DIA) which I built a tunnel on a 5510 with the WC office and it is experiencing the same slow throughput. In covering all my bases we have a colocation facility on the WC and in building a tunnel between the 2 WC offices I WAS seeing close to full line rate speeds over the tunnel. Additionally, I built a tunnel between the 2 EC offices and I saw full line rate speeds. With the physical distance between the WC & EC offices I would expect some loss in throughput speeds but I would not expect it to drop as low as 4 – 5 Mbps. In thinking something may be up with the 5510 in our WC office we shipped a 5505 to the WC office and we built the same IPsec tunnels on it and it is experiencing the same.

In working with our support vendor to try and solve the WC <-> EC throughput issue they had me change the MTU, TCP mss, DF-bit, types of encryption/hash on the IPsec tunnel but nothing has resolved it.  We are not showing fragmentation or PMTU issues on the tunnel. In contacting the ISP of our WC office they mentioned that they do not have any type or rate limiting in place. Our WC ISP had a CCIE review our configurations but nothing was found.
