My Wifi Keeps Cutting Out On Pc
Feb 24, 2013
Ever since i put my PC down in my room my WiFi keeps getting disconnected. I still have 4-5 bars but no internet. Its a Wintec FileMate PCI. Its getting very frustrating! My router is a NetGear WNDR3400v2. When i use network troubleshoot it says that it fixed "no default gateway" but then it goes back out again. It goes out every 30-45 minutes for like 3-7 minutes. I set sleep-mode off. I really don't know what to do. My Ipod touch gets 2 bars and never goes out.

I have a Acer Aspire 5536 laptop, about 3 years old.Over the last year, the WiFi has kept dropping and so I have to physically switch the WiFi on and off, only then will it start working. When it "drops" the globe sign at the bottom of the screen (taskbar) goes and only the 2computers icon is flashing.

Currently I have 3 computers in my house (My PC, Sister's PC and my Mums Laptop). My Mums and Sisters Computers work fine but RECENTLY (last couple of days) my computer when using the internet has become troublesome. Whenever I load multiple web-browser pages at once or try to connect to any online game server, my internet "laggs out" and refuses to load pages and even if it does they load INCREDIBLY slow. The only way to get back into any server is to reboot my modem and let my pc reconnect to it then connect to the server, even then it still has difficulty connecting and is delayed. My ping also spikes up when I am using skype and watching youtube video's. I have done a virus scan. I know its not my wireless adapter as I used my sisters one, I have tried using an ethernet cable and still the same result. I even tried our old adsl modem and still nothing. I'm getting really frustrated and have been unable to even load facebook in the last couple of days (I need facebook! I can post more information if needed, I am computer literate so I should easily understand anything anyone comes up with.

My internet connection has been dropping constantly since the beginning of this year. I cut out for ~10 seconds then regain connection. This gets annoying especially when I'm gaming (Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike, etc.). The modem lights stay on as well as my router lights. I have already called in three of my ISP's (Time Warner Cable) technicians all of whom think they have fixed the problem but haven't. I have changed my modem, router, ethernet cords; one of the technicians also changed the head of the cable wire outside at the cable box. I have also tried connecting the modem directly to my PC, but the same problem still occurs. I don't believe it's a problem with my PC because it's relatively new (~1 year) and all the other computers in the house cuts out as well.

Whenever I am browsing the web, or listening to an internet radio, or even gaming, after about 30 minutes my internet will cut out. The weird thing though, is that it will come back when I close the game/browser. It seems that whatever tab or application I have running the longest nullifies my internet connection after awhile and will not turn back on until I close out of that specific application.

I have a windows xp system with a dell wireless WLAN card. I have found that when I try to connect to certain wireless networks - most recently the BBox network through Bouygues Telecom in France - it will connect, work fine for a minute or two, and then disconnect automatically. I can reconnect by going into the WLAN Card Utility and re-entering the WEP password, but I don't know why it cuts off automatically. I also noticed the same thing happening while trying to connect to a friend's wireless in London, England (not sure what the provider was). Other computers don't seem to have the same problem.

My network on my desktop keep cutting on and off, starting 2 days ago. It's on for few secs or couple minutes, off or couple secs, then back on. I pinged my router IP "-t", I found that it will be normal for anywhere between 15 - 2 mins then cut off once("Request timed out"), then back on again. I tried to switch port on the router, it didn't work, I tried to reinstall the driver for the network apter, it didn't work. I also tried 2 different anti-virus software, including "Macfee", "Norton 360". None of them told me any virus or Trojans were detected. Now, I'm confused, I don't know how did this happened. I do think it's the internet problem, because all my other devices connecting to the same LAN works fine including wireless and LAN devices. Everything else seems fine and works.By the way, It worked today in the afternoon for about 5 hours without getting cut off, then started a gain in the evening.

A couple weeks ago every device on my wireless network started disconnecting from the internet in unison and seemingly at random and then reconnecting. The time between these disconnects varied anywhere between almost immediately after regaining a connection and three to four hours later. As things stand I have a SpeedStream 5200 modem running into a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router. I have had no problems with internet connectivity up until this point. During each disconnect, every device remains connected to the router. I've called Bell and they claim there is no issue with the modem. To test their theory, I bypassed the router altogether, and attempted to connect through an ethernet cable, but to no avail, as the now hardwired device continued to get disconnected. These failures seem to be occurring between noon and 10 p.m. and to be honest I'm amazed that one has not cut this post short.

Our internet connection has started disconnecting repeatedly at frequently random intervals. It would always disconnect once in a blue moon, but now its almost every minute or two.
This problem happens with EVERY electronic device in the house, (laptops, iphones, xbox) So I believe I've isolated the problem to our modem. Its a LSI-PCI-SV92PP soft modem. It has a row of green LEDs that light up for its connections. And yes, the cords are properly connected to it. The ethernet, wireless, and DSL lights are shining, but the internet light flickers, and eventually turns off for a minute or two before flickering. So its the internet connection itself thats malfunctioning. System restore had no effect either.

I have a Belkin Wireless N1 router and it works great with my laptops and desktop computers. But! Whenever I connect up my iPad 2, mobile phone (Nexus S) or any other mobile phone, Apple TV or PS3 - the internet works and then after about 10-15 minutes (maybe more, maybe less) the internet cuts out and I can't connect on any device. The PS3 works great when hooked up through ethernet, but wirelessly the connection doesn't last very long at all. Both my parents and brother have an android based smartphone and when at home they'd like to use our WiFi instead of their mobile data - and when it comes to online gaming on the PS3, I don't want to have to trail an ethernet cable all the way to my PS3 set-up. I have full signal strength throughout the house so range isn't an issue - I've also tried connection up whilst next to the router and the connection still cuts out. To resolve this I have to pull the power cable and re-boot the router.
I have cable broadband and the modem still indicates that I have a connection, and when the internet is cut from the modem the router shows a message saying that "No internet connection can be found". The screen still indicates that it still has an internet connection but it just isn't broadcasting it...I've altered the broadcast channels but this hasn't done anything. I can connect up to my friends Belkin ADSL Wireless router with no problems and it doesn't cut out. He has his PS3 connected wirelessly too and it's all good...

I recently built a new PC with an "ASUS PCE-N10" PCIE network adapter. I installed the drivers and everything was secure and nice and fast.
I moved the PC into another room this morning and everything was fine for most of the day. It's stopped working properly though now for some reason.
The connection is much slower and the speed keeps yo yoing and then cutting out. The signal is slightly lower due to positioning but it's still high enough. When it disconnects I use Windows troubleshooter to fix the problem and it says "Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration". It usually reconnects me then, but is still slower than it should be and it doesn't last for long.
I've tried connecting to a chosen IP but it just doesn't work. Other computers on the network are fine. Why now? What's happened?

I've recently moved into a new flat and got a new BT Home Hub with Unlimited use. Alas, I'm having problems with my laptop - an Acer Aspire 5920. I can connect to the internet with no problems, but the connection intermittently cuts out. It remains offline for about 10/15 seconds and then reconnects to my Home Hub automatically. This is particularly annoying when I'm trying to watch a video. My other flatmates have no issues like this, so I'm assuming that it's a laptop fault and nothing to do with the BT connection. I have uninstalled the Acer eNet software which comes installed on the laptop because I felt this may be clashing somehow with the Windows internet connecting program - unfortunately the problem persists.

basically a friend of mine gave me his old dell inspiron 1300 because my other laptop died.
It was running really slowly, and still is, so I cleaned the registry, defragmented, all sorts of things, I also started to download updated drivers for the system. Since I downloaded the broadcom update my wireless has been utterly useless, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting by itself, its really annoying. I guessed it could be the laptop not liking the update so i uninstalled it, but it still has the same problem.
We have other laptops and devices connected to the wireless so it's not that. oh! by the way here are any laptop details you might need.
System: Windows XP Home edition
service pack 3
laptop details: Dell Inspiron ME051
Intel celeron M
processor - 1.60ghz
504mb RAM

I'm using a Sierra wireless 4g aircard for internet access, the ISP is Clearwire. Normally it works fine with no problems, but a few days ago I started getting a connectivity issue. When playing games, even games that don't use the internet connection at all, and ONLY playing games (it's fine as I type this, I'm even dling something in the background), the connection will be lost, and the thing will immediately reaquire the signal and reconnect, the whole process takes like 20 seconds. The result is it's impossible to play games, I get 10k ms lag spikes every couple minutes that last for about 30 seconds, and if I'm playing most server based games (Steam Source games) I just get disconnected outright.

I work in an office which has a network setup with server and wireless broadband router all plugged into a network switch. This all works fine.
Is there anyway this can be achieved, having a traditional LAN using ethernet with wireless to access internet using the adsl router? I tried a small network switch, but all i get is 'unknown network'. I can connect the laptops together using wireless through the router (But no internet connection) and using the Windows 7 Homegroup function (which gives me web access but not a traditional LAN).

I wife just got the new Kindle Fire and when I was setting it up for WiFi, I had to choose from 9 different connections. This started me wondering how do I find out if someone is "piggy backing" by WiFi. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a PC (not MAC).The router was supplied my Brighthouse to give me the internet, a phone, whole house wireless service, and cable TV. The brand name of the router is UBEE. I think I'm using a secure setup because I have to use a password when I want to install a new device to the system.

Been using an Epson Artisan 800 for years over a long USB cable. Love the thing to pieces, until it broke printing on it's 800th CD or so. Replaced with an Epson Artisan 835 and wanted to it set it up WiFi this time (new office layout doesn't lend well to a USB cable). But I can't see the damn thing on the network! And I don't think it's the printer's fault either, since it's the second one I've tried.Printer says it's connected to the router. Shows full signal strength on front panel. All network connection tests available on the printer's touch screen pass quickly:SSID checkCommunication Mode checkSecurity Mode checkMAC Address Filtering checkSecurity Key/Password checkIP Address checkDetailed IP Setup checkBut my Win 7 box can't see the printer!Running the Epson connection wizard on my Win 7 box failed, so I assigned both static IPs in the router's DHCP panel (192.168.1.101 and .105). The printer's network test page shows the IP stuck. Power cycled both printer and router twice each. No dice. IPconfig shows that the PC's IP stuck too.

My router is a Netgear WNDR3400 running the most recent firmware V1.0.0.16_1.0.34). This is a dual band router. The 5ghz band I have setup in WPA2-psk (AES). The 2.4ghz band I have as unprotected. The two computers I have issues on are both running XP-SP3. The first is a Dell Latitude d600 laptop. The 2nd is a box I put together myself, and uses a Trendnet TEW-423pi (Rev A) wireless card. Both are connecting to the 2.4ghz band. The computers will both connect just fine, but will occasionally drop the WIFI connection for a moment or two, and then reconnect again right away. On both computers, if I look in Event Viewer, i see a System listing under source "tcpip" saying:The system detected that network adapter DEVICETCPIP_{1EEC58ED-1570-4219-B200-8EC4F636910C} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated driversOn the diy-box, I see a slew of events relating to "The Wireless Zero Configuration service" stopping and starting up to 10 times back-and-forth in the same instant as a disconnection.
On the laptop, I do not have that same service listing, but I see a number of updater services (mostly google) doing the same flip-flopping a handful of times within the same second as the tcpip listing. Now, to throw a wrench in the mix, there are a slew of other devices (a printer, a pair of ipod touches, and two windows 7 boxes, plus a number of friends' computers and etc.) that connect regularly and stably on this same network. Both computers have the newest possible drivers.

DSL is ON
WLAN is ON

I've had this setup for years now, custom ssid and password on my router, altho yesterday my pc said i was connected to "Slayer 2" (my ssid is Slayer) i found it weird so i went to wifi settings and i deleted all the ssids in an attempt to re-connect to "Slayer" thing is now, even tho my pc detects my ssid, when i try to connect to it, it says password is wrong. this is very weird cuz i can connect to it on my portable and tablet. My pc stills connects to other ssids with np, so i think the prob is not my network adapter.I've tried to change the ssid, didnt work.tried to change the password and didnt work either.googled a bit and did the winsock reset commands, didnt work either.currently posting this from my pc which has now an ethernet cable coming from the router.
