View 8 RepliesMy Wifi network has a wpa2 password that is a random string of characters and numbers and yet last month a rogue IP Address kept popping up on my DNS list. It has to be coming from my neighbor who's bedroom is about 15 feet away from my router. So unless someone is sitting out on my front lawn to do this then it must be him.I've been looking for software that will notify me when a connection my router is attempted and kudos if it also asks my permission first would be great.There are wifi packet sniffers out there like Cain&Abel, Airsnort, that sort of thing but I am not quite savvy enough nor do I want to turn this into a complicated hobby but just need a basic warningin case something gets past my passwords again

I made all the connections and configurations , and everything seems to work fine it says it's connected at 300 mbps wifi, except it is not . I tested the internet speed and got this :
80 mbps Upload
35 mbps Download
I know that connecting via wifi will loose bandwith, the problem ins't that, I just cant seem to find the cause for the download rate to be less than upload and not equal... , when connected to the cable I get a stable 100/100.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the E1200 and since I installed this router, the wireless download speed on my iPad and iPhone has been only around 4 to 5 Mbps when my other wireless devices could get to 7 Mbps and ethernet gives close to 10 (my ISP gives 10 Mbps max).I know many people experience slow download and normally disabling the WMM would solve the issue. But this doesn't work for me and I've made sure i'm on the latest firmware.

Neighbor agreed to let me use his WiFi connection only if it requires no changes or disruptions on his side. His signal is broadcast with a wireless router. I can currently see his signal broadcast on my laptop, but it's very weak.I have a omnidirectional antennae already mounted outside my house with a clear sight of view. It has a cable attached to it that terminates with a N connector inside my building.I need to connect to his signal (there are several being broadcast in the area) and then forward it to my router. My router will then provide connectivity to my home network.What hardware do I need between the outdoor omnidirectional antennae (that terminates with a N connector) and the wireless router inside my building?

He wants to play online but I cant get a signal back in there and if I do it is extremely weak. I have a linksys E2500 router connected to my cable modem that is wired ot one computer and then my 2 laptops connect to the wireless from that router. The Playstation 3 that is about 15 feet away works fine as well. All our ipods and iPhones work well too. It is only his bedroom where we run into trouble with any of these devices. I go Online using Firefox with it at home.. stays up for a few minutes .. can get onto the internet...then loses the ability to stay connected.... it still states it's Connected though ... kind of baffling... like something is timing out then blocking it...I tried shutting down my AVG Anti-Virus.. also shut down Windows Firewall... it still continues to lose the Connection while stating it's connected getting a good signal... both of these are configured correctly as far as I can seeI've re-installed my Wireless driver thru the Acer Recovery Management included on the Netbook.. still no good..
