How can I get internet on my laptop ? It's a public wifi hotspot. I can connect with no issues at home.
My network adapter is: Atheros AR5B97. And my phone is an iPhone 3G.
The wizard's of no use since it asks me to check the router, which I can't since it's a public hostspot.
I am trying to use f5d7230-4 v6000 to connect my TV and Playstation to my home WLAN, but cannot set up the router to receive the signal from the base station (FRITZ!Box). Is it possible at all to use f5d7230-4 v6000 for such function?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using an Acer Aspire 5532 and just recently set up my own network with my Cisco WRT120N router. I used the installation disc and set up a WPA password, named my router, and my network. For the installation, it seemed I could not even start without physically linking the router to my laptop with the included rollover cable. I finished that, and ever since my wireless adapter has been disabled. Whenever I attempt to enable it, I get an error; my laptop shuts down and I'm presented with blue screen. The only way I've been able to get back to normal is to reboot in safe mode and than do a system restore.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAny good solution to connect to TV and be able to browse internet wirelessly. I did some research and their were 3 categories:-1/Roku/Boxee kinds set up boxes where they have their own user interface, they connect without laptop and are economical but are limited in terms of conetent of internet you can see. I think you dont have the browser inbuilt with these, even if it there then it is genrally cumbersome to browse through their ever evolving interfaces.Additionally you cant view contents on your laptop(obviously you are not routed via a laptop!)2/USB wireless adapters like Warpia where you hook one usb enable device like a pendrive in your laptop and connect a small base to TV which is also wireless enable and then these two transmit A/V signals. Sounds great as then your laptop becomes the source and remote. this is closest to my need but i am not sure of over all practicality of the solution. 3/Nettops where you buy a cheap nettop and hookup the nettop to TV and use wireless keyboards and mouse to browse the contents on TV 4/I saw some gaming consoles like Xbox and PS3 offering the ability of browsing intenert over TV, though for this purpose this may not be the best solution...but this I considered due to price comparision with nettop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently i am experiencing "limited connectivity" on all of the networks I try to access the internet with my laptop. My computer runs Vista Home Premium Service pack 2 and has an Atheros AR5B91 Wireless Network Adapter. To this point, I have tried turning off the wireless functionality on my laptop and turning it back on as well as disabling the adapter and re-enabling it through Control Panel --> Device manager.I have run into this problem on a home wireless network, a 3G mobile hot spot as well as a public wifi connection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer is a HP Laptop Model Number DV2815EA running windows vista 32 bit. Its a few years old. Recently i have had problems with my wireless adapter turning itself off whenever i watch videos online. It doesn't happen all the time, but if i am watching something for more than an hour it will cut off. There is a blue light and a switch on the front of the laptop, and when the wireless adapter is off, the light changes to red.
The light will change to red sometimes whilst watching video, and the only way i can turn the wireless back on is if i restart the system. Even if i activate and disable the wireless adapter using the external manual switch, or the internal controls using the wireless assistant. Also, not sure if this is relevant but i can no longer either watch videos on full screen as the image gets jolty.
Things i have tried:
1) restoring the system to a previous restore point - i tried this but for some reason the only restore points i could find were ones dated after i started noticing the problem.
2) reinstalling the wireless adapter driver and video card driver.
3) running a full 6 hour antivirus scan - I am using Eset NOD32 antivirus and also i scanned using comodo cleaning essentials.
I just got new desktop and the wireless internet is about half the speed as my old laptop. The network adapter on the new desktop is 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, the laptop has Atheros AR5B91 adapter. the wireless router is a netgear N300.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, which I bought 3.5 years back. The laptop used to work fine before. I just shifted home 1.5 month back. Previously I used to have the wireless router always close to my laptop, so I never realized this issue. Now the wireless router (802.11n) for Fibre optics internet is in the ground floor and my studio is on 2nd floor. In my office latop, which is a new one, I get 3 out of 5 signal bars and get 34-56 mbps signal. But my Dell laptop does not get any signal, but when it is closer to the router it works fine.
if I buy an USB network Adapter device which is n series and supports upto 300mbps signal, then will it improve the situation? If yes, then which devices are preferred and how can I know whether that new device is compatible with my laptop settings (as this is a bit old one) or not? If not, then how can I improve the wireless reception? I have tried with booster etc already. I have also updated the network adapter drivers.the wireless card I have is: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN minicard?
Any good internal wireless adapter for the Inspiron 15 3521. Not happy with built in 1703 adapter. Looking for one capable of 300Mbps.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an SMCWBR14S-N4 router, and I'm using a usb wireless adapter that says it supports n, and promises speeds of 150 mbps. My signal strength is excellent, yet my speed is only 54 mbps. This is the only wireless connection on my network, I have 2 PCs connected at 100 mbps, and a Dish DVR connected at who knows what speed.
I've been trying to read questions and answers from others online, and I keep reading that ISP speed plays a role. How does my ISP's speed affect my wireless network's speed? (Plus, I run speedtest.net all the time and my download speed is usually 260 mbps.)
But my question is simply why is my speed so low and what can I do about it?

ok here it goes. I have a hp tx2000 laptop using vista with a alfa awuso36h usb adapter to connect to the internet. Ok heres the problem i was using this setup to connect to my neighbores wireless internet with no problems for about 2 weeks(yes they know and are fine with me using it). But within the past week (actually all of a sudden it wont work) my program that came with the adapter shows alot of networks with full signals but when i connect to any of them it shows connected but wont actually bring up the internet. When i click on i.e. It says i.e. Cannot display the webpage. And if it actually does take me to google it will disconnect for no reason and reconnect to a random network thats available. my neighbors connection i was using just all of a sudden quit working and if i try to connect to it , it says cannot connect to frontier87. Also the other networks that show up sometimes will say the settings saved on this computer for this network dont match the requirements of the network, but sometimes the same network will connect but wont actually bring up the internet. I guess i just want to know what has changed to make me not be able to use a network that worked fine for me last week.

I have a Toshiba Satallite Pro L300 laptop.I went to the Toshiba site to find a download for the wireless adaptor but couldn't even find my model number on their system. I can get on the internet by plugging directly to the modem, and my internet provider suggests it must be the adaptor. I'm too scared to randomly download stuff from internet in case it is rubbish and mucks up my computer.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus Model U56E. Recently the wireless has been disappearing whenever I turn off my laptop. What I mean is that when I turn on my laptop, the wireless doesnt seem to exist. I go under device manager and all I have is the eternet and my bluetooth device. About 85% of the time, when I go under "action" and click on "scan for hardware changes" the my Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N1030 will show up along with the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adaptor and I'll get my wireless back. However, when my laptop turns off, the same thing happens.
In addition, my fn F2 button no longer seems to work. I'll press on it and majority of the time my light that signals that the wireless is working does not turn on. Most of the time it stays off whether or not I am connected to the wireless
This is what I already attempted to fix it, based on googling for answers:
1. Under the properties of my wireless and miniport adapter, I went under power management and unchecked the box that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
2. I went to my laptop's power plan and changed all my wireless adapter settings "power saving mode" to maximum performance for both battery and cord
3. I went to the intel website, had it look at my laptop wireless system and followed their recommendation of installing an updated wireless software thing. All that happened was that it told me to disable my old wireless and then install it. However, even though I followed their instructions, it continued to repeat the same message. I had to perform a system restore to get my old wireless back
4. I disabled wireless console 3 (by Asus) under programs and it seemed to work. My laptop was getting connected whenever I turned it on. However, the next day my laptop updated itself (b/c of my system restore) and I am back to the same situation except my wireless console is still disabled.
I have a linksys system WRT54G at home. I had no problems with the Linksys router until about a month ago when I decided to make it a secure network. I run three computers of the wireless router (1 desktp and 2 laptops) Since making the wireless network secure I can not connect with my business laptop IBM Thinkpad X40, but thother e computers work just fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my wifi for a month or so. I used to connect well to my wifi, but then one day my laptop just can't connect to it anymore. It says "windows was unable to connect to" or something similar to that. But what's strange is, I have an external wifi adapter (Tenda 802.11n, it looks like an USB flash drive). I use this adapter to connect to Wifi with the very same password, and it can connect perfectly. Signal strength is around the same level.I tried using windows troubleshooter, didn't work. I borrowed my friend's laptop (which is very modern, and have windows 7 - mine has windows XP), but the same problem exists: the laptop can't connect, but the adapter can.I also tried to export the wifi settings to an USB flash drive (using windows 7's function), and installed it on the laptops. Didn't work. [code]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI reformatted my father's laptop, upgrading the OS from Vista to Windows 7 but now the wireless network adapter isn't working. Basically, the laptop doesn't know that it has wireless. In device manager there is an exclamation mark against the "Atheros AR5007UG Wireless Network Adapter" entry. I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, restarting the computer, updating the driver etc but it always fails to install the driver correctly. I don't know for sure the model of the network adapter, (windows tells me it's atheros but I'm not convinced seeing as the driver always fails to install) so I can't go to the manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers. I opened up the laptop but couldn't see any brand names on the network card. I don't have the cd's with the drivers on them.
