Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Spontaneously Disconnects
Aug 12, 2012
My Toshiba x775-3d80v has a Qualcomm Atheros wireless adapter will spontaneously disconnect from my home network. No other device has issues. My PC is hooked up with Ethernet cable. My phone, my Xbox360, my PlayStation 3, my roommates Apple laptop, his iPhone, and my other roommates PC with a cheap USB wireless adapter all keep their connections. I have the latest driver I can find for the wireless card, 10.0.0.55, and have tinkered with the settings so Windows doesn't shut it down to save power. The laptop runs Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit. It has always kind have happened, but it was never bad enough to say the wireless card was necessarily the issue. Now my laptop disconnects from the network every hour sometimes every 20 minutes. I know when its going happen though. My Bluetooth mouse stops tracking correctly. It still knows my network and every other network in the building is there, so it not disabling itself. When I reconnect I have to run Windows Troubleshooter and have it reset the wireless adapter. Then it works great for the next 20 mins to an hour. My wireless router is a Cisco Linksys 4200.

I currently have a Toshiba Satellite L750-04K, which has an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless card. It's specs say it's a 802.11b/g/n, but it only offers 1 stream N and max's out at 150Mbps. While the card incorporates Bluetooth, it's a very basic wireless card. While I had a 'G' series router, the laptop connectivity was great and never dropped me off the network, however when I upgraded my router to a new 'N' series, my laptop would constantly drop off my network, requiring a constant resetting of my wireless adapter to get me back online. Other devices were fine on the same router.Thinking my laptop was faulty, I sent it back to Toshiba under warranty and while it tested ok, they replaced the wireless card as a precaution. When I got it home, it was exactly the same, constantly disconnecting.I've tried every troubleshooting measure available and I've come to the opinion I need to put a much better wireless adapter in my machine, especially if I want to utilize 'N' routers.
The wireless card I want to install is an Intel 6235 6235ANHMW WIFI WLAN BT Bluetooth 4.0 Half MINI Card. I chose this card as it has Bluetooth incorporated and it's also dual band and offers up to 300Mbps.Will this wireless card be compatible with my Toshiba L70-04K and apart from drivers will there be any other changes I'll need to make to ensure the card works correctly? I'm not worried about physically installing the card, my main concern is ensuring it's compatible and relatively simple to get it working and able to connect to my network. [code]

Recently the wireless internet connection on only one of my laptops is really laggy. By laggy I mean that usually the connection is ok, 20mbps, but like once in a couple of minutes the connection slows down to like 3mb for a minute or so ( Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test) and when it does the connection becomes really slow. This is very annoying when browsing the internet or playing online games, because it causes connection losts, and slows down loading webpages etc. The problem has to do something with my laptop because on my other (wireless) laptops and the wired PC these problems don't occur. The problem also occurs when no other PC is connected to the network. My laptop is an Asus K53SV and my wireless adaptor is an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adaptor. My ISP is UPC (The Netherlands).

I have a C3560-24P PoE switch, running on a very small network with nothing special about the endpoints or the configuration (5 laptops connecting via 1 wireless AP, 1 firewall uplink, a networked printer and one conference room phone using PoE. That's it.) I actually have inline power turned off on all the non-PoE device ports.
We are encountering a very strangle anomaly where if a client attempts to send a print job through the switch, to the network printer, the printer makes a noise as it if's begun to initialize and then the switch immediately goes into a reboot. Also the reboot appears to immediately drain all he batter power from the UPS unit that it's connected to. The unit is an APC SmartUPS 750 (500W, 750VA) and when the switch reboots the load on the UPS jumps to well above 100% until the switch appears to 'level out'. Is that kind of power draw normal when rebooting a C3560?
Switch details:
IOS version: c3560-ipbasek9-mz.150-2.SE1
128MB Memory
512K nvram
Model Revision: F0

Running Vista and cannot connect to the internet through the Atheros AR5B91. Can connect via USB adapter and LAN cable plugged in to router. Network discovery was custom, for some reason, but turned it off. Everything else in the house works, iphones, xboxes and another laptop with the same Atheros adapter.

It just says not connected with a big red X on it. The networ adapter is Atheros AR9285, I've tried running the built in diagnostics but with no results.

I can connect to my LAN, but with local access only. I've been to the mfg's forums and tried their fixes, driver updates, and manual setups- no joy so I've reset to auto defaults. This laptop connects to several other routers wi-fi without problems. The WNDR3700 solved all my previous router problems, was truly plug and play, and may have cured me athsma as well. The event logs show a time-out during the semaphore portion of the log-in.

The laptop is an HP. The network adapter is having the common problem of being unable to connect to secured wireless networks. I know this is a common problem and I HAVE tried everysingle suggestion posted on this forum, including but not limited to: reinstalling drivers, making sure the adapter is configured for the appropriate gateway and even doing a full restore to factory defaults. NOTHING has worked.

my machine is HP ProBook 4530s (bought 2 weeks ago) with Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. There is a public wireless network near my home which when I try to connect to I almost always get an "No Internet access" message and no connection. In the rare cases when I connect to the network it dissapears a few seconds after I manage to load a page. The reason why I'm writing about this is that I have another very old (4-5 years old) laptop - Asus with XP SP3 and Atheros 5006EG Wireless network adapter, which connects to this network very easily and with reasonable speeds. I have put the two computers next to each other and the old one connects with no problems, while the new, if finds the network (somethimes it doesn't show on the list of wireless networks or it shows with fewer bars), almost always gives the "No internet access" message and an occasional exclamation mark on WiFi network icon. I tried to read the descriptions of the two adapters online and as far as what I understand the new should be better in any way, but I am not familiar with the terminology, thats why i am starting this thread here.
My question is it possible my 5 years old laptop to have a stronger and better WiFi adapter than the new HP or is it a settings/software issue? If it is the latter, how can I fix it?
I have currently installed these drivers for my WiFi adapter - [URL]
One other thing is that when I bought the probook it came with Linux SUSE operating system and the signal was again weak. I am not familliar with Linux so I switched to Windows.

I'm using HP Pavillion dv3-2165ee Win7 32bit with Atheros A9285 WLAN adapter.problem is that my notebook is not detecting any wireless network.it is as if my adapter is turned off. when i switch it on, Bluetooth works but WLAN dont. I tried turning it on/off couple of times but it didnt work. I'm not sure if is just a timing, but it started when im on a cafe when i plugged in my friend's flash drive then after a while i lost all available wireless networks that time.At first i assumed it's because of virus, so i tried driver reinstall/reformatting/recovery disc but nothing solved the problem.
When I browse the net, i saw this Xirrius Wifi Inspector so i downloaded it with a cable connection then when i used it, it was able to detect the wireless network i have in my house but just for a couple of seconds, and the network disappeared.I tried other drivers, but i didn't work. As i've said earlier it is as if turned off.I've run this diagnostic test from Atheros driver and got this result with my WLAN switched on.While on this screeny, you can see in HP Wireless Assistant that my WLAN & is enabled, but at the same time Windows Mobility Center is indicating that my WLAN is not just turned off but it is like there is nothing there.

I've heard that AR5007 has troubles connecting to NetGear, but it's strange that I haven't had this problem until now. Maybe I've never needed to connect to a NetGear router before, but regardless.Wireless, it connects to the router but not to the internet. I've tried to follow what other threads have to say about this, but it's not really making sense or it's just not working.

I am trying to set up a connection between 2 pc's. It's a direct cable connection. The problem that I am having is that the connection isn't gigabit. I know both network cards support gigabit. I checked in the device settings and in one pc I can see in the Speed & Duplex the 1Gbps option but on the other pc I can't see that option despite the fact that the network card is gigabit.
I have quite some files to copy from one pc onto another and I really need a good connection between them. I can't really remove the hard drive because it would void the warranty.
Could this be a driver issue or a cable issue? On both pc's I have windows 8.
The network card on the pc that doesn't have the 1 gbps option is an Atheros ar8161 card.

I have an older Compaq CQ50-215NR with the dreaded Atheros 5007 Wi-Fi. I get the error message Cannot Connect to Primary DNS Server when I try to connect to the internet wirelessly. When plugged directly into the router, it works just fine. But when I try to connect thru a wireless connection, it does not work. First, it gave me that error message, and I went thru all of the potential fixes on other threads, and it still didn't work. Now when I try to connect, it simply says that it cannot connect.

Up until a couple of days ago, I could connect to a wireless network no problem. Now, it's as if wireless doesn't exist on my netbook.
Computer: Acer Aspire One Model: ZG5 / AOA150
OS: XP, Service Pack 3
WLAN/Driver: Atheros AR5007EG/v7.6.0.224
I've done the Recovery Console and performed the Windows Registry repairs. I've even reformatted the computer, but to no avail at all. And I've done all the basic troubleshooting and surfed forums for way too long and found no solutions.
So this is kind of a last ditch effort. It still connects to the internet via an ethernet cord, so all is not completely lost, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a netbook without having wireless connectivity.
