I know this is a common problem and I HAVE tried everysingle suggestion posted on this forum, including but not limited to: reinstalling drivers, making sure the adapter is configured for the appropriate gateway and even doing a full restore to factory defaults. NOTHING has worked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've heard that AR5007 has troubles connecting to NetGear, but it's strange that I haven't had this problem until now. Maybe I've never needed to connect to a NetGear router before, but regardless.Wireless, it connects to the router but not to the internet. I've tried to follow what other threads have to say about this, but it's not really making sense or it's just not working.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got an issue with my router. The Linksys E1000.In my opinion it supports the Wireless-N mode, so does my wireless lan card which is the Atheros AR5B93 (also known as the Acer Nplify 802.11 b/g/n). When I connect to the router, it only connects in normal wireles mode, so no b,g or n mode. But when I look at the Client Tabel of the router all other devices connected to the router are in Wireless-G mode. Even my laptop doesn't connect in Wireless-G mode.I want to have my laptop connected in Wireless-N mode. What do I have to do, to make this working?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to setup a hardwired connection between my Linksys E3000 router and a DIRECTV DVR. I have the most recent firmware on my router. I have checked the ethernet cable and it is good. The lights on the ethernet port on the DVR light up when I have the DRV and router connecter. The DVR gives me an error message when I try to connect. Some other posts have suggest setting a static IP on the DIRECTV DVR using the following settings:
IP Address : 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 192.168.1.1
I tried this and still get an error message so I am going to call DIRECTV. Before I do call I would like to know if these are the correct settings for a Static IP?
I had a little one port wireless switch that I just upgraded to the SE2500. The problem is my home audio reciever and squeezebox aren't connecting to my network now that I upgraded. The E3000 isn't seeing the SE2500 at all, nor is it seeing the devices connected to it. Everything else that's wirelessly connecting to the E3000 is connecting just fine (Tablet, Laptop, Desktop, etc.) but anything connected via wired to the SE2500 is not showing up whatsoever.

I was having issues getting #3 connected to the wireless network. I used the Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ PIN number provided to me by the Linksys Wireless Manager to no avail. The E3000 router and #3 could never find each other. After calling support, it turns out that more often than not, "other" wirless management software (in my case Linksys Wireless Manager that came with the USB device) was interfering with my Windows XP Wireless Manager.Rule of thumb: Always let your native operating system manage the wirless networks that are available to it. It does a far better job and is 10x more reliable than software provided by 3rd party vendors.Specific to my case: Windows XP, I had to enable the Windows Wireless Manager and uninstall the Linksys Wireless Manager Software. Here it is...Enabling Windows Wireless Manager These directions are for Windows XP:
1) From the Windows Start menu, click Control Panel.
2) Click Network and Internet Connections.
3) Click Network Connections.
4) Right-click the icon for your "wireless network connection", then click Properties.
5) At the top of the window, click the Wireless Networks tab.
If the "Wireless Networks" tab does not appear between the "General" and "Advanced" tabs, you are not on/in the wireless network connection settings:a) click cancelb) Right-click the icon for your wireless connection and choose "Enable". c) return to step 4 6) Check the checkbox next to "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings".
These directions are for Windows Vista:
1) Go to the Windows start menu and then the control panel.
2) Open Network and Sharing Center.
3) Click Manage Network Connections (from the left side menu).
4) Right click on the network adapter 'Wireless Network Connection' and choose "Properties" and click "Continue".
5) At the top of the window, click the "Wireless Networks" tab.
If the "Wireless Networks" tab does not appear between the "General" and "Advanced" tabs: a) click cancel b) Right-click the icon for your wireless connection and choose "Enable". c) Return to step 4
6) Check the checkbox next to "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings".
I get a great wired connection but when I try for wireless the Samsung says I have a great connection, except when I try to use the Apps from the Blu Ray it tells me, No Internect Conncetion. Samusung support tells me I need to "open the ports" on my E3000 and make the Blu Ray a priority...I don't know how to do that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI I use a Linksys E3000 router. Sometimes when I look at the network map I see a device called "Unknown." It appears as though the two notebooks sometime are going through this device to access the Linksys E3000. Is there any way to determine what this unknown device is?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have three N-compliant devices and several G-compliant devices on my network. I also have two routers, one being used an an access point. The first is a Linksys WRT350N; the second is a Linksys WRT54G. I have the G router connected as an access point so that I can reserve the N router for the N devices and achieve N speeds.N devices:Toshiba laptop; network adapter is Intel 4965AGN.Toshiba laptop; network adapter is Atheros AR5008XLexmark Wireless printerRouter settings:WRT350N: Security Mode WPA2 Personal; Encryption AES; Network Mode N-only; Radio Band 40MHz.WRT54G: Security Mode WPA Personal; Encryption AES; Network Mode MixedThe best I can recall, I set the WRT54G to WPA Personal instead of WPA2 Personal because one of the G-compliant devices did not list the WPA2 Personal setting -- but this is based on memory only.To reserve the WRT350N for the N devices and achieve N speeds, I set the Wireless Mode to N-only and Radio Band to 40MHz., and each router broadcasts its own unique SSID. Once I set everything up, I saw a substantial increase in the link speed reported by the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor (I realize there are issues about taking these numbers at face value, but let me continue). The Toshiba Connectivity Doctor reported WRT350N link speed at 130 Mbps and everything appeared to be working well.PROBLEMUntil recently, no problems were apparent; the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicated the two laptops connected to the WRT350N at 130 Mbps, the printer connected to and printed via the WRT350N, and all G devices connected through the WRT54G. Recently, however, network performance declined and the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicated erratic link speeds ranging from 1 Mbps to 130 Mbps.I found through a little research that my quest to reserve the WRT350N router for N devices lacked one element: according to Linksys info for the router, setting the N Transmission Rate to anything other than Auto results in denying access to B/G clients.I set the N Transmission Rate to 270 Mbps (the highest setting). The Linksys printer works fine and the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicates a solid 130 Mbps link speed for the Toshiba laptop with the Intel 4965AGN adapter card. The other Toshiba (with the Atheros AR5008X adapter card), however, is now only able to connect to the WRT54G (the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicates a solid link speed of 54 Mbps to the G SSID). If I reset the WRT350N N Transmission Rate to Auto, the Toshiba with the Atheros card can once again connect to the N Router -- but the erratic link speeds and the network degradation returns also.I have verified that the Atheros AR5008X network adapter is N-compliant. There aren't many settings on the Atheros AR5008X adapter card configuration, but I can find no documentation on the Internet for this card.As far as I can determine, all firmware is up to date for both routers and all drivers are up to date for both adapter cards.I'd love to know what changed in the first place, but I'm more concerned with fixing this problem. How I can get the Atheros adapter card to connect to the WRT350N with the N Transmission Rate set to something other than Auto?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had a Linksys Wireless-G router for a long time and had very good luck with it. However, I ended up getting a couple of Wireless-N devices and wanted to get a different router. I bought the Linksys E3000. I got it home and set it up, and at first it worked. Then it would all of a sudden drop everything connected to it. I would restart the router, and in short order it would drop all connections again. This completely baffled me for awhile, until I actually touched the bottom of the router, and it was quite hot. I had it laying flat on a a table, so I could never understand why it was getting so hot. Anyway...I stood it up on it's side and it worked for awhile. Then it would randomly drop various things connected to it. The last straw was when I was listening to internet on the Apple TV, while viewing the internet on my PC and it started dropping the connection every five minutes. Anyway, I have now hooked my Wireless-G Linksys back up and it is working great.
is Wireless-N even needed? I live in a small place, so I don't need it to reach a long distance, and I don't transfer a tremendous amount of date wirelessly, so that doesn't really matter. Should I even try to fix this router? I looked on the Linksys page and I am running the newest firmware.
