I want to get a Linksys E3000, mainly because it stomps all over the competition in this bracket for wifi throughput.But I have forgotten how to set up the DG834G to act as a modem for the E3000 going from the DG's LAN port to the E3000's ethernet WAN/Internet port?
View 5 Repliesi have an e3000 linksys cisco router. i havent had any problems before until i tried adding a new computer via cat5e ethernet cable. The first computer always is connected fine whether i unplug the router or modem in any order and replug. i dont know much how to fix this. ive tried some unplugging method once but it only worked until i turned the computer off and back on later. i am also running 2 xboxs with no trouble. i used cisco connect to diagnose problem but it just told me to unplug modem power and tv cable and i did that with no luck.although i have good equipment, the internet is pretty slow.i have the best service of my provider that states it has upto 50 mpbs download speed.i ran the cisco internet speed test and only got a max of 20 download and 5 upload.how could i speed this up?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought an E2500 router. I have until now been using a Netgear DG834G v5.
I have tried multiple times but my success has been limited. I turned off DHCP in the Netgear, set the isp login question to no, and set it into bridge mode. I managed to use Cisco Connect to connect the Netgear and the E2500, but there was no internet.
I logged into the E2500 and entered by ISP details in the PPPOE section. I went to status and clicked connect, but a message would eventually pop up saying that an IP address could not be found. In the Netgear I could set up VPI and VCI etc manually, but can't find those settings in the E2500. My ISP also requires a dynamic IP - does this mean that DHCP must be off in both the Netgear and the E2500?
I factory reset the E2500 and tried Cisco Connect again, but it said that it couldn't find the device.
How do I connect to the EA6500 once it's in Bridge mode acting as a wireless access point? Checked the posts and some seem to be able to do this but, we cannot.

last night my router just stopped working when i was on the internet. I looked at my router and the power light and tick were flashing. After disconnectibg the power a few times this continued so i called it a night and left it disconnected.
Tonight i turned it back on and all looks fine on the router but on the pc it will now not connect and says the dns server isnt responding.
Maybe its a problem with my internet provider (orange) so not sure but its frustrating lol. Dont know a lot of the techical stuff i was using it fine for over a year withoit any problems.
I've got an old netgear dg834g router and I want to set it up so that it connects wirelessly to the main router in the house (netgear dgn3300) in order to have wired connections from the old router to my pc and xbox 360 upstairs.
I think I need to change the setting on the old router so that it acts as a 'repeater with wireless client association' but on the most recent firmware this doesn't seem to be an option.

But it doesn't have a wireless adapter and no provisions to add a wireless adapter. There is one ethernet port.
So we have a plan to attach one AP(1262) to each forklift. this AP needs to talk to the AP whcih is connected to Wired network. The network deivce in the forklift need to talk to the root AP(1262) through the AP directly connected to it over Ethernet.
My dad is using a netgear router DG834G V2 and has no problem until recently. He got a new phone and wanted to connect wirelessly but couldn't remember is network key. After playing around with things he's obviuosley changed something and now has no internet what so ever.
I've tried plugging in the eternet cable and accessing 192.168.0.1 but can't see any problems there. When i am able to get a connection it's local only and Internet explorer can't display web pages. And when i unplug the ethernet cable it doesn't always find the wireless connection, and if it does find it, then i have the same problem as when the lead is plugged in.
His ISP is AOL although he doesn't always access the internet via aol, he'll use IE and i'm trying to get him to give firefox a go.
I have tried disabled both windows firewall and AVG firewall and individually but still keep getting the message internet explorer cannot display webpage.

We have a SRP527W with 1.1.24 firmware.
We have DHCP disabled and have assigned a IP address of 10.65.73.254 on the Interface Setup/Lan/VLAN Settings/data_lan.
When I configure a client to use 10.65.73.254 as its DNS server it cannot resolve hostnames eg [URL]. Obviously I have 10.65.73.254 as the default gateway on the client and it can ping the external host via IP Address so it only appears to be the modems function as a DNS Server that is not working.
From the diagnostics ping I can put in [URL] and it resolved and works, so the modem is correctly getting it's DNS Settings from the ISP
I am using a Cisco 1921. I have created 3 L2L VPNs. Although I can get the tunnel of all 3 up, I can in the case of one ping the LAN IP of the router, and the 2nd on from the peer subnet, but not the other way round. If any one can make sense of this that would be great.. I can see the ACL being fired, Annoying as the first VPN is up and working fine, in both directions.. Would be really grateful of a fresh pair of eyes..

Currently I have an almost pure N environment, with the exception of 1 printer. My primary router is a WRVS400N v2, and the WAP 4410N is acting as a repeater. On the WRVS400N I have the option og g/n Mixed (which is what I use), but this option is not available to me with the WAP4410N.It seems like the WAP4410N is taking an all or nothing approach, as each speed is idividually available, or ALL speeds are available.What I would like to know is if this oversight will be resolved in a fufute firmware release so I can have both devices configured equally?

However, I ended up getting a couple of Wireless-N devices and wanted to get a different router. I bought the Linksys E3000. I got it home and set it up, and at first it worked. Then it would all of a sudden drop everything connected to it. I would restart the router, and in short order it would drop all connections again. This completely baffled me for awhile, until I actually touched the bottom of the router, and it was quite hot. I had it laying flat on a a table, so I could never understand why it was getting so hot. Anyway...I stood it up on it's side and it worked for awhile. Then it would randomly drop various things connected to it. The last straw was when I was listening to internet on the Apple TV, while viewing the internet on my PC and it started dropping the connection every five minutes. Anyway, I have now hooked my Wireless-G Linksys back up and it is working great.
is Wireless-N even needed? I live in a small place, so I don't need it to reach a long distance, and I don't transfer a tremendous amount of date wirelessly, so that doesn't really matter. Should I even try to fix this router? I looked on the Linksys page and I am running the newest firmware.
There are 2 ps3,a wii ,2 laptops,3 desktops,2 dsi.We have been having issues for a while now with losing connection and the service provider says there is nothing wrong. the modem is a comtrend ct-5072t and the router is a linksys E3000. However, my fiancee's laptop will not connect to the internet. It connects to the network fine, just not to the Internet. I keep getting the same error "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server". She is running Windows Vista SP 2. I tried all three of the solutions suggested by Vista, but they all failed. I also did a hard reset of the laptop, router, and modem.
