I just bought an E2500 router. I have until now been using a Netgear DG834G v5.
I have tried multiple times but my success has been limited. I turned off DHCP in the Netgear, set the isp login question to no, and set it into bridge mode. I managed to use Cisco Connect to connect the Netgear and the E2500, but there was no internet.
I logged into the E2500 and entered by ISP details in the PPPOE section. I went to status and clicked connect, but a message would eventually pop up saying that an IP address could not be found. In the Netgear I could set up VPI and VCI etc manually, but can't find those settings in the E2500. My ISP also requires a dynamic IP - does this mean that DHCP must be off in both the Netgear and the E2500?
I factory reset the E2500 and tried Cisco Connect again, but it said that it couldn't find the device.
I've got an old netgear dg834g router and I want to set it up so that it connects wirelessly to the main router in the house (netgear dgn3300) in order to have wired connections from the old router to my pc and xbox 360 upstairs.
I think I need to change the setting on the old router so that it acts as a 'repeater with wireless client association' but on the most recent firmware this doesn't seem to be an option.
I've been trying to use this guide [URL] but it doesn't seem to work. Whenever I change the IP address of the old router it just breaks down and won't let me access the settings anymore.
My dad is using a netgear router DG834G V2 and has no problem until recently. He got a new phone and wanted to connect wirelessly but couldn't remember is network key. After playing around with things he's obviuosley changed something and now has no internet what so ever.
I've tried plugging in the eternet cable and accessing 192.168.0.1 but can't see any problems there. When i am able to get a connection it's local only and Internet explorer can't display web pages. And when i unplug the ethernet cable it doesn't always find the wireless connection, and if it does find it, then i have the same problem as when the lead is plugged in.
His ISP is AOL although he doesn't always access the internet via aol, he'll use IE and i'm trying to get him to give firefox a go.
I have tried disabled both windows firewall and AVG firewall and individually but still keep getting the message internet explorer cannot display webpage.

I have reset and rebooted my netgear wireless router. it told me set up was successful yet even though it tells me I am connected I still am unable to access the internet. It also shows an exclamation over my connection bars. How can i fix this? This all started when I was trying to access my router from a new laptop. I could not remember my security key. I reset and erased what I had stored. Have made a new but still no internet access.
I have a desktop and a laptop..Netgear for wifi...All worked fine until I disconnected my desktop....Now the only way my laptop will work is if plug it into the ethernet...making it a desktop of sorts...How do I fix this so it will work wherever I want it to?
I have a Netgear DG834G ADSL2 Modem/Router. I am currently connected through a wired network connection and wireless. With both forms of connection active does my Dell XPS give priority to the wired connection or the wireless connection if wireless is enabled?
when we got a wireless router we didn't have a laptop. the tech, secured the wi-fi and wrote down the password, my husband misplaced it, now i have a tablet and i am un able to connect to the internet(wi-fi) so how can i find out the password or reset it without the old password?
I am having an issue with my netgear router dg834g
last night my router just stopped working when i was on the internet. I looked at my router and the power light and tick were flashing. After disconnectibg the power a few times this continued so i called it a night and left it disconnected.
Tonight i turned it back on and all looks fine on the router but on the pc it will now not connect and says the dns server isnt responding.
Maybe its a problem with my internet provider (orange) so not sure but its frustrating lol. Dont know a lot of the techical stuff i was using it fine for over a year withoit any problems.
I want to get a Linksys E3000, mainly because it stomps all over the competition in this bracket for wifi throughput. But I have forgotten how to set up the DG834G to act as a modem for the E3000 going from the DG's LAN port to the E3000's ethernet WAN/Internet port?
I have a Netgear DG834G v4 wireless router/modem, im experiencing a bit of a problem, when i ping google from my desktop which is connected via cable to the modem, i get a packet loss after about 15 seconds each and every time but when i dot the same from my laptop via wi-fi, well, there's no packet loss.. since i play most of my online games from my desktop, this is a bit of a problem for me..
I have Charter Cable and I'm using a netgear n600 dual band router. I set this up at my previous place and am trying to set it up again. I'm not able to get a dynamic ip address from the router. Everything I try to set up the static IP it gives me the message: "to avoid a conflict with your internet service provider your router's ip address has been updated to..." with a different IP address. When I update the static IP, it changes the IP again
this might sound straight forward, but every other pc or console can find and connect to my router. This issue seems to happen about once every few months, sometimes it comes back by itself and reconnects completely fine.
There isn't a "user limit" on our router.Wireless adapter is dell wireless 1505 draft 802.11n wlan mini-card.
Have restarted PC and uninstalled and reinstalled the card.I tried to set the i.p address to static but it says "adapter disconnected" so won't allow me to edit any settings, despite it being able to find neighbour's wireless very easily.
My router stopped working today after I tried updating its firmware. I have tried to hard reset the router but it just won't broadcast a signal. Is there any hardware problems related to this or are there any other ways to reset it?
My netgear is on but its not broadcasting i even called tech support but their idea did not work which was to restart the modem i have tried everything that i know to make it work but nothing has made it worked !!! the wifi always worked fine but just one day stopped
my wireless connection (netgear 79) fluctuates often from 5 bar signal dropping to 1 - computer repairman suggested programming an extender into router...my computer is only 8 ft. from router in another room...would a second router do better and/or easier to implement
A friend gave me a Netgear 3300 wireless router. No start up disk, just the router. I get internet through Comcast. My main computer is an iMac. I want a couple of MacBooks, an iPad2, and a Dell laptop to connect to the wireless network. First, will the 3300 work with these devices? Second, what do I need to do to set up the router? how do I connect the devices to the router?
