A friend gave me a Netgear 3300 wireless router. No start up disk, just the router. I get internet through Comcast. My main computer is an iMac. I want a couple of MacBooks, an iPad2, and a Dell laptop to connect to the wireless network. First, will the 3300 work with these devices? Second, what do I need to do to set up the router? how do I connect the devices to the router?

During the Configuration if I have no security set up on my network, the 3300 establishes a connection. If I however, turn any form of security on ( WEP, WPA-PSK [TKIP, WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] ), the Connection fails. No security is not an option.
This happened while switching routers. The 3300 worked fine on my D-Link Wireless G router (WEP). I was wondering how to resolve it.?
I tried to use my Netgear 614 router to my Netgear 3300 as an access point to gain range. But now I think I've screwed up the IP address(s) and have lost my wifi ability.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had the Netgear 3300 Dual Band for three years. Everytime I wanted to access using my laptop, I had to choose between 2.4G and 5G connection. For about a month now, the 5G does not show up. It doesn't show up as a network to select no matter what device I use. I have reset the router and updated the firmware. Both connection lights are blinking. I recently purchased and IPhone 4 and still I do not have the option of selecting 5G.

As you wil see, the dw1501 wireless network card is not support this connection speeds even though the card is advertised as a wireless N card. Some users managed to replace their card with the better ones.
I have a Dell Vostro 3300 laptop with Windows 7 and ran a Kaspersky Virus Scan which deleted virus' and trojan programs but now my computer says there are 'no connections available'....my WiFi is definitely working as I am able to connect on my phone and other laptop.I have checked my network adapters on Device Manager and they have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, including 'DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card'. I have checked whether the drivers are up to date and it says they are.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a Vostro 3300, which was working very well, and when I upgraded my OS from Win7 to Win8 my internet speed through wireless connection became very low, I checked for a driver update but did not find any that is compatible with windows 8. I also tried some old Windows 7 drivers with and without "compatibility Mode" but still not working. I should also mention that when I connect to the internet through Ethernet, I get the full speed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am at one of our remote offices and I am noticing my laptop, despite excellent signal strength is periodically losing IP connectivity on the wireless network. When it drops, all of my IP connectivity stops (pings fail, RDP sessions "await reconnection", etc...). The lower right corner still shows I'm connected to the hidden WPA2 Enterprise SSID. The only way to reconnect is to select disconnect on it, then click connect again. Immediately everything IP based starts working.
There is a 5508 controller in the headquarters. The site I am at has a 30mbps fiber point to point WAN to the headquarters. This site has 2 x 3300 series LAPs which are very good coverage. H-REAP mode is on so traffic terminates at the local office because it is more efficient than traversing the LAN twice for things like local file and print sharing, dhcp, proper active directory sites and services mapping, etc.
I am trying to access the settings webapge so that I can delete computers from the scan list. When I select the settings link it attempts to open the page but then the lights on the adapter start to flash and it seems to lose the connection with it ....... The other links e.g. status, information and security seem to work OK provided they are aceessed before I select the settings link. One the lights have started to flash I have to switch off the adapter and switch back to restore the connection to the network. The adapter is connected to a BTHomehub. Other than this issue the printer works fine through the network.

The router's power light will not remain on after powering it up. The only lights that remain on after power-up are the (4) "LAN Port" lights (solid green) and the "Internet" light (solid amber).
The owner's manual states that it's a hardware problem if the power light does not remain on and to call tech support. The tech I spoke too said it's a settings issue that they deal with everyday and not a hardware problem.
One of the things I've tried was using a paper clip to reset the router to it's factory settings. It didn't change anything though. Re-running the setup CD didn't yield any results either. It just stopped in the middle because it said there was no ethernet cable connecting the laptop to the router, even though there was.
By the way... My ISP is Century Link and I use an Actiontec DSL Modem.
Not sure how to modify the router's settings if the network is down.
