I have a Netgear wireless router that is connected to my desktop in my house to broadcast wireless throughout. However, the main computer is hooked up to an ethernet cord for a hardwired LAN connection. For some reason, my desktop will constantly disconnect from LAN and switch to wireless, back to LAN to wireless etc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a NetGear WNR-1000 wireless G router. I currently only have 1 computer hooked up but I have had 3 computers hooked up to it before. It doesn't matter what internet it's connected to or how it's connected to the modem itself. I have had DSL and Cable hooked up to it and I am currently using it as a secondary router behind my roommates old Wireless B router. He currently has all of his things hooked up via ethernet and wirelessly to his router. So, im download the xirrus wifi inspector thing. It doesn't matter the OS either. I've had XP sp3, vista, and 7 all hooked to it and it's the same all the way around and it doesn't matter the kind of wireless card either!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear CGD24G Wireless Gateway and a Gateway MA8 laptop with after-market Windows 7 (Vista got a virus, went ahead and upgraded.)Now, when I download 100 MB files on my Xbox 360 (Which is wired to the modem) it will be downloaded in a couple minutes, or less. The other computers in my house (There are plenty, and even more that come and go.) get a blazing internet connection, and most of them are wireless.Now this computer, which had an extremely quick connection as well all of a sudden dropped off, while the rest of the computers remain fast.I've gone to Speedtest.net before and after this occurred and my speed before was around 12 mb/s, and one time around 4 AM was even upward of 25 mb/s, all of these tests were performed multiple times on different server locations. I JUST did the speedtest, and it came back with .4 mb/s, and the UL speed was 2.0. I honestly can't remember what I averaged with it prior to the problem, but it was definitely higher as well

The internet light stays amber, and though the router recognizes it, I can not connect to the internet. My computer also doesn't seem to recognize the router at all. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy fianc just reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition last night as his computer was virus-ridden and it was becoming impossible to use. It took a couple times for the computer to even pick up the Windows disc, but fourth time lucky and it was good to go. Once reinstalled we tried to get everything checked and download some anti-spyware etc, but it wouldn't pick up the router. The router is wireless, but connects to his computer via a cable. The router is a Netgear 54 MPBS Wireless Router, DG834G v3. We have been told that the computer should just automatically pick up the router, but the only way it will allow us to try and connect is via a dial up connection.

It is connected to my Netgear N600 Wifi router which have my computer and DirecTV hooked up to it via ethernet. My wifi went down the other day. Devices were connected, but were not getting any internet service. In troubleshooting, I attempted to dial in to the router using www.routerlogin.net as well as 192.168.0.1, and I could not get into the router. I assumed the router must have crashed, and I only purchased it a month ago, so I took it back to the store and exchanged it for a new one. I got home and plugged it in, still not working. I can't access it using the above mentioned methods, and the setup software does not detect a router present. I unplugged the router and hooked the computer up directly to the internet modem. Still no luck. The computer does show a network connection in the system tray, but with no internet. I plugged my laptop in to the internet modem, and I am able to get internet just fine from my laptop. I even did a system restore to a restore point last week when I know the internet was working. No luck.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Netgear N300 router to go along with the Mediacom cable internet I just signed up for. I can plug the ethernet cable straight from the modem into my computer and get internet. Unfortunately this only works after I run the windows diagnostic to correct the errors that wont allow me internet access (unable to connect to IP address, lack of DNS server) but eventually I get access. The instruction then tell me to run the ethernet from the modem to the router and then another cable to my computer from the router. When I do this, I lose all internet access. I thought I just had to instal the router using the provided disk but it never gets past the internet connection test.I have tried to provide the correct IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns servers like requested but clearly I am messing something up.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter a quick power surge forced my desktop to reboot, it can't connect to my wireless network, even though everything else can. It may have been applying windows updates at the time of the surge.
Earlier today I shut down my computer to apply some windows updates. A few minutes after it rebooted a power surge knocked it out for an instant and the computer rebooted again. I don't know if it was done applying the updates but for some reason it can no longer connect to a wireless network. It keeps saying "unknown reason" when it fails to connect. I think I had a static IP attached to it.
My iPhone and iPad can still connect to this network, but this one computer can't. It's a desktop running Windows Vista Home Premium with a broadcom adapter added to it. It's too far away to connect to any wired connection. My router is a Netgear WGT624 v4.
I don't think I can post any IPconfig information here because I'm forced to type this on an iPhone.
How can I get a new security code? I never put it in when I brought my router because I lost the instruction paper.

I can't connect to the internet through it wired or wirelessly. Wirelessly I can connect to it, but I can't do anything like browse the web. I have tried resetting it to factory defaults and restarting it and my modem many times, and my modem can't be the problem because using my other router everything is fine.

We have a series of VLAN's coming in on a trunk from a service provider for our Metro Ethernet locations. These trunks then get cross-connect to various location for connectivity. The problem we have is there are two VLAN's that need to go to the same switch which provides access to our public IP block.
I set up the two VLAN's on the SG200 with the trunk port VLAN tagging on the service provider port. Then I set up a separate port for untagging the traffic with the PVID of the respective VLANS's as follows: [code] The public switch has no VLAN's configured (it is an SG200 too). If I connect GE2 to the public switch everything works fine. When I connect GE3 to the public switch, things die. I thought this might be caused by STP although STP should not be detecting issues like this across separate VLAN's. Disabled STP, no change.The same configuration with the Netgear worked without an issue. FYI, the VLAN's cannot be changed...they are defined by the service provider in this particular case. otherwise we'd just make them the same..
I have had the Netgear 3300 Dual Band for three years. Everytime I wanted to access using my laptop, I had to choose between 2.4G and 5G connection. For about a month now, the 5G does not show up. It doesn't show up as a network to select no matter what device I use. I have reset the router and updated the firmware. Both connection lights are blinking. I recently purchased and IPhone 4 and still I do not have the option of selecting 5G.

I have set up the server (which runs windows server 2008) with an account called "communications" I have named the computer "communications". View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 3 computers wired to a Netgear R6300. Two of those computers (both running XP SP 3) I added new LAN Gigabit Cards (Tenda TEL9901G) . One recognized the card right away and had no issue connecting to the Internet (using this computer now). The other shows a 1.0 Gbps connection but I can not get any web pages to come up. I can access other computers and devices on the network without an issue on the computer that doesn't connect to the Internet.
If I type in the web address it says "Server Not Found." If I type in the IP address it will come up with the name of the site in the address bar but it still says "Server Not Found." I've tried several times to unplug the router and modem (Motorola Surfboard) and restart everything but the problem was still there. Also, I tried other Ethernet cables and no change. The LAN card drivers are up to date but I don't think the card is the issue since I swapped the new cards (to see if the card was the problem) and it does show a 1.0 Gbps connection. Also, tried uninstall/reinstall, disable/enable the card many times.I didn't change any setting in the router after installing the cards.Here is the ipconfig output:

For some reason I cannot ping or FTP on a specific computer on my home network. All other computers work fine and the specific computer works fine on other networks. But the combination of this computer and my home network it doesn't like.
I have disabled both windows firewall and my virus software but nothing seems to work. It seems to be a timeout issue as FTP and ping sometimes does work but FTP is increadibly slow when it works and the ping time is very high 670ms and above. I am running windows 7 and my router is a netgear n150

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear WNR3500L with a Comcast cable modem. The internet was running slow so I rebooted everything. After that I could not see the internet. I tried to reset the Netgear Router, shut down and restart and still the same problem. I plugged the computer directly into the cable modem and everthing works just fine. I'm guessing something happened to the Netgear router but I don't know if it is a setting or something happened to the router itself. The router is about a year old. I can use the default 192.168.1.1 to get into the router but I'm not sure what settings I should try to change.
