I have an E3000 running firmware 1.0.04.  I have a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard and an iMac running Lion.  The Mini is set up to file share with the iMac, and it usually shows up in the iMac's finder window as browseable.  Periodically, the Mini vanishes from the iMac's finder window.  When this happens, I can  no longer connect to the Mini from the iMac.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Losing Wi-Fi Connectivity On Multiple Device

Sep 7, 2010

Issue with Linksys E3000 router (firmware 1.0.02). I'm experiencing issues with the following wireless connections:
-iPhone 4G (wife's)
-iPod Touch 2G
-PC with wireless connection (non Linksys brand adapter)
-Acer NetBook (non Linksys brand adapter)
The issue is the connection gets interrupted and dropped, but the devices and the router DHCP clients table show the connections are still present. By interruption, I mean no data traffic is being transmitted. My wife's iPhone 4G and my son's iPod Touch wifi both show they are connected to the home network, complete with wifi bars being displayed, and the checkmark is present next to the home network connection in the the device settings for both. When I check the E3000 DHCP clients table, both Apple devices are listed as holding a connection. Yet both devices display network errors when trying to use any app that connects to the internet. By restarting the wifi connection on each, the connection is restored to the point where traffic now transmits. My wife and son estimate it is after about 10 minutes that they encounter the interruptions.
On the PC and NetBook, the connections have to be terminated and reconnected. I have not timed these to see how long before the connection becomes problematic.Interestingly, my ASUS laptop and my iPhone 4G do not have the issue, nor does my work laptop (Dell). There are no timeout parameters in the router config. Closest thing to it is the Beacon Interval, but I don't know which way to adjust it (up or down) to manage the devices that are experiencing interruptions. I have not made any interval this time, everything is set to default settings. This E3000 replaced an aging WRT54 (hardware v2) router so that I could have an N router in the house.

Linksys E3000 - Cannot Communicate With Primary DNS Server

Jan 2, 2011

I bought a Linksys E3000 Router. I have hooked it up and connected my PS3, laptop, iPad, 2 guest laptops on occasion with no issues. However, my fiancee's laptop will not connect to the internet. It connects to the network fine, just not to the Internet. I keep getting the same error "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server". She is running Windows Vista SP 2. I tried all three of the solutions suggested by Vista, but they all failed. I also did a hard reset of the laptop, router, and modem. Waited a little while with everything unplugged. Still cannot connect to the interent and get the same error message.

I have been trying to connect my daughter's toshiba a215-54697 wirelessly to my linksys e3000 router. The computer recognizes the network wirelessly as the correct name and will only have "local access". When it is hardwired to the router it connects just fine, it also will connect to the unsecured (guest)network. I have comcast internet that is connected to an ooma box that is cconnected to the router. My laptop and the playstation find and connect to the internet just fine. Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 - Way Of Getting IP From Pppoe Server?

Jul 22, 2011

I recently bought an E3000. I am trying to setup a wireless home network.Google and tried a lotta things (power cycle the most no. of times ). Nothing worked. So I poked around. Looked up the IPConfig of my PC with wire connected directly(no router), was So I hit in my browser address bar, and it came up with the login page for a D-Link DIR600. A wireless router with wireless disabled. Apparently this is being used as a switch by my ISP. This I know cause I checked the active connections and DHCP reservations on the D link and it showed up about 100 different PC's (including MAC and IP addresses).

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 V1 Is Losing Connection?

Aug 9, 2011

I bought a Linksys router last summer for my PC and Xbox. The PC and XBox are hardwired into the router. About two weeks ago, my router began dropping connection throughout the day. Sometimes it happens 3+ times in an hour. Other times it works for several hours before it drops.I upgraded the firmware as one fix and did a hard reset of the router. Still drops connection.I changed the MTU to 1400 and it worked fine for several hours but then dropped again the next morning. Also, like others on the forums, when I changed the MTU and hit Save Changes, it just ran and ran, never timed out...but never showed that it finished the command to save (if you get my meaning).I downloaded the Cisco Wireless Magic program to troubleshoot. It tells the same thing everytime. Unplug your router for 10 seconds and start over...My PC sometimes flashes a warning when I am restarting the router that I am getting Limited or NO Connectivity.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG54G2 Losing Internet Connection

May 2, 2011

My internet connection seems to drop a lot, I'm using a WAG54G2 modem connecting via a wired connection; and my ISP is Iprimus and I'm running off an Adsl2+ connection. The light on the modem that goes out when I lose connection is usually the internet although sometimes it is the DSL light, when my connection drops out I also seem to lose speed when I reconnect, which I was able to fix by pulling the power plug out and putting it back in but it no longer works as often.
The top speed I have measured via 9url]... has been 350 kb/s and the lowest has been 12 kb/s.My phone line also has a loud crackly sound which goes away when I unplug my modem from the line.I used to be able to unplug my phone line to keep the connection up but that no longer works.
This problem is not consistent as I will have days when it is bad (slow connection speed and constant connection dropping) and days when it is alright (decent connection speed and hardly or no connection dropping).I am also running a few filters for my phone, I've tried taking the filters out but that doesn't fix it, I've tried unplugging the phone which used to work as I mentioned before but no longer does. Before I bought this modem I can't remember what I was using but that had history with locking out the connection which by replacing the modem fixed my bad connection for a 5-7 months.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Lost All FTP And Media Server Settings

Jan 27, 2012

I have the E3000 and have attched a WD 1TB USB drive.  I set it up for FTP and Media sharing and it worked fine but somehow recently I could not connect anymore.  I checked the router and all of my setting for the FTP and Media server were gone.  The disk drive still shows avaiable but now it shows the entire 1TB free (it was at least half used).  This is the second time this has happened, first I tjhought it was a bad disk and replaced it but now it happened again. I did do a power cycle some time ago but I remember it still work after that.  Not sure why I am losing my settings. This does not give me a comfort level as to storing anything valuable on that drive.

I have to reboot my router a couple of times per day because I lose WAN access.  This occurs with both the wireless and ethernet connections.  Basically, I see that I'm connected to the router, but have a self-assigned IP.  Power cycling the router does the trick.  I never had this problem before, so I'm wondering what's up.  The firmware has long been up to date.  Router version is 8.0.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT120N Constantly Losing Connection

I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router that I have had for almost three years now. It recently has started dropping all internet connections very randomly, sometime multiple times in an hour. I will lose my connection to the internet and connection locally to other laptops then it will reconnect. It is also disconnecting when wired as well as I have a playstation using a wired connection out of the router and it loses connection all the time as well. What is causing this, I am pretty sure it is the router and not my internet service.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Losing Connection Intermittently

May 12, 2013

I've been having issues with my e2500 router. I've found my connection dropping occasionally both with a wired connection and wirelessly on other computer. My desktop is connected directly to the router via ethernet and I've been keeping an eye on my network preference pane. Every 10 minutes or so the connection will be lost and computer says the cable is unplugged. It then resolves after 2 minutes.
I'm running OSX 10.8, firmware 1.0.07. Done a factory reset, power cycles etc. Configured with Cisco connect and manually multiple times. I've swapped out ethernet cables just to be sure it wasn't a cable issue.
Internet is fine when I've got the computer hooked up directly to the modem. No connection issues.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 USB Hard Drive Media Server - How To Get Files

Jan 1, 2011

I just installed this router and connected the hard drive (Western Digital 1TB) which worked fine at first.  When I moved some movie files to another folder they lost all of their data. The file names are still present, but all the media files show zero bytes and are no longer usable.  Is there anyway to get these files back? I have been digitizing all our movies to the tune of about 90GB. What could be going on here?  I disconnected the HD from the router and plugged directly into the laptop.  Still shows the file names, but each file is still at zero bytes.  Not a cool way to have a media server for your house!

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Is Not Working - Connection Keep Losing To Mac AirBook

Jun 14, 2012

I recently upgraded my Wild blue internet service to the "Exede" system. When I kept losing the connection to my Mac Air book, the Wild blue service tech suggested that my wireless router (Linksys Wireless G 2.4 GHz router) was not robust enough to handle the increased "speed". They recommended I purchase a new router so I purchased the Linksys EA4500.
Now, after three weeks, the Linksys EA4500 router has stopped working. I am able to hook one of our Mac Books directly to the satellite modem to access the internet through an Ethernet connection. Finally, I finally reconnected my old Linksys Wireless G router to the modem to check to see if it would work and it does.
So, I'm wondering about the failure rate of the new Linksys EA4500 routers? Is there anything else I might try to get my new router to work??? I have unplugged it for an hour and then re connected it. I have pushed the reset button..My wireless indicator on the Mac Book Air shows full signal strength, but I can't connect to the internet with my new (less than 3 weeks old) router.
