I can't even watch youtube videos with just one laptop connected because the ads take 5 minutes to load. Is this normal behavior for this router? Do I need to upgrade to be able to Skype?

Works fine otherwise. The IPhone played back video properly on an ATT router. I know how to get to router setup pages but am not very competent in understanding it all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a an old disabled guy who uses a hand-me-down Dell Insprion 1150 laptop running Windows XP from bed (where I spend the better part of my days these days) connected via a Microsoft Windows Network to a couple of old hand-me-down PCs in the kitchen, one running Win 2K and the other running XP.The network worked fine for a while, but then I started having problems with the PC running XP. Now when I'm working from the laptop in bed, and click on an icon representing a drive or folder or file on the PC running XP, it takes 30 seconds or longer to make the connection. And all during that time the mouse pointer on the laptop has turned into that danged hourglass. My connection to the PC running Win 2K works fine. Also, at the same time this network slowdown with the XP PC started occurring, that same PC running XP starting stalling or freezing or hanging up on shutdown. So I'm wondering if these two problems are related.

I am getting speeds of around 10kb and below - max of around 30kb. The speed is affecting all compters connected to the Internet through the router.

Starting just yesterday, my usually amazing internet speeds tanked to about 8 kb/s, and have stayed there since then. My roommate, also using ethernet, is having no problems.You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject, I just hope I'm not completely clueless:
I first did the obvious checks, made sure cables were connected and secure, restarted our splitter as well as my desktop, disconnected and reconnected to the University Network, I even attempted to connect to wireless to make sure the problem still existed, and it did. ~8 KB/s download speed.I made sure I have, to the best of my knowledge, no background programs running that may be stealing bandwidth.I checked to make sure it wasn't only affecting my preferred internet browser, and programs like IE and Firefox showed similar, if not worse, results.I tried recovering to a few days ago when I believe the problem didn't exist, and the problem still existed.I ran through my programs list and made sure nothing was installed recently that could hinder performance.I ran a complete scan through McAfee, which produced no results.To double check, I downloaded (slowly) and ran SpyBot, which produced a few errors, but I quickly "fix"ed them and restarted my computer, ran another scan, and now nothing.
Have the E4200v2 router. Suddenly my wireless devices have slowed to a crawl. I mean slow. My Cisco Connect confirms that my wired download speed is 30-32 GB, but my two Android devices have slowed to ~500k. I might have changed something - just don't know. I know I'm desperate though.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my BEFSR41 with a new WRT54GL (to get WiFi support in addition to Wired Support). With the BEFSR41 I was getting 50/8 speeds. As soon as I swaped with the WRT54GL my download speed dropped to 30Mbs. Is the WRT54GL unable to get 50Mbs unlike the BEFSR41 or is there something I have miss configured? I am using the same computer settings as I used to and reconecting the BEFSR41 restored my 50Mbs Download Speed. This is with wired connections with the WiFi turned off (to eliminate any question of the WiFi stealing any of the processing power).
View 9 Replies View RelatedFirst discovered this problem because I was unable to connect to a particular web site that was functional according to a friend that I was talking to on the telephone while trying to connect.
Problem: Network UPLOAD speed is randomly reduced from 2Mb to 600Kb while download speed seems unaffected (Abt. 30 to 50Mb). First eliminated the router, modem and cables as suspects working with ISP tech support. CAT 5 cabling to router and cable modem. Then I discovered that another machine on the network did not have this problem. I then discovered that disabling the network and re-enabling the network cured the problem.....temporarily. Downloaded and installed latest NIC driver from MB web site. No solution. Downloaded and installed latest NIC driver from Realtek web site. No solution. Updated MB BIOS. No solution.

Disabled TCP/IPV6. No solution. I suspect it is one of the "Advanced" settings for the Realtek PCIe GBE, but I don't know what they do. Anytime I disable and re-enable the network adapter my upload speed returns to normal. I haven't been able to isolate a particular action that causes the slow-down. The attached pics show speed test, before and after disable - re-enable network adapter. Same server.

I am in the next room from my study and around <10 ft away from the modem in the study. However today the internet was extremely slow for everyone in the house so I went to reset the modem. After resetting the modem I noticed that the internet speed went a bit up and so I used speedtest.net to see how fast the connection was in the study. The computer in the study is connected with a ethernet cable to the modem. I was amazed that the speed in the study was nearly double the amount. I understand that wireless connections are undoubtedly slower than a wired connection, but is it normal for the speed to drop by half when I am <10 ft away from the modem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, some time this week the strength of my wireless signal has been greatly degraded. I have not had any problems connecting to the router in the past at any location in my house. Now if I am 20 feet away I barely have 1 bar of signal.
I have tried changing channels, and rebooting the router. It has not improved.
I have had a DIR-655 router for a few years now, but slowly over time the wireless output has gone down. I have tried changing parameters to only-g or only-n, rebooted, changed other parameters based on what I have read in some of the forums, but have not been able to restore the power. It has an ANT24-230 antenna, and the latest firmware update 1.35NA. Different devices all show the same thing, that even next to the antenna the strength is only 80% in spite of the fact that the wireless output is set to max.
even though I have been working on this for a couple of months now, and am considering buying a new 11AC or 900N router if this is not fixable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA N600 Router Model F9J1102v1 router first installed in July 2012 with WPA-PSK, MAC Address Filtering and "Self Healing" enabled would not allow a new PC to connect via an RJ45 port. Belkin support ask for the unit to be reset to factory settings which is done and the Security system re-enabled again. Valid MAC Addresses start to be added and midway a PC is discovered in the Network without its MAC address added. Closer scrutiny reveals that another unknown device has also found a way into the router and that the 'Block' option on the MAC list is also failing to work. Anyone think of what one should do with this security shambles other than turn the thing off quick?

By very short I mean, it works well within the hall (10 meters), but as soon as I enter another room, it drops and doesn't work behind closed doors or through walls. Also its next to a staircase, and wont work as I go downstairs and into a room.
I tried testing a D-link (N) router, and an Older Linksys (G) router, but all of them seem to be suffering the same problem. My wired connection is performing very well, and this prob is with Wifi only.
I'm getting currently installing a full Valcom IP sound and clock system , along with all new Cisco 2960 gig ps-l switches. All devices run off of POE. In the past, I have read that most AP's only draw approx. 12.5 watts (va's). But you must take into account length of wire to add your additional draw which puts you at the 14.5 they auto draw. My question being that the clocks I have auto draw 15.4 watts, which is eating up my 370w of power on my switches. The spec sheet on the clocks show only a power consumption of 4.5 watts. So today I turned a few ports down to 4.5 watts and everything still worked fine.. Any experience by chance with Valcom devices or just turning the power down on devices in general? I can imagine that a clock is drawing enough to care about the length of the wire run.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new N600 dual band router (2.4 and 5.0 GHz). I set up security to use WPA/WPA2 PSK (AES) on both bands. The devices that can see the 5.0 band could connect without issue, however those devices that can only see the 2.4 band (older devices like the Nintendo Wii, my desktop computer with wireless, and iPhone 4's could not connect). In troubleshooting, I finally disabled security on the 2.4 band and everything connected without issue, but I cant figure out how to successfully enable security on both bands at the same time.
