XP Machine Asks For Password On Shares
May 31, 2012I have two xp pro machines that im trying to share an accounting system on one machine is the sage accounting and i want to join another machine to it the sage is working on both machines except the one is not allowing reports, comes up with an erro when i map drives i have to put in a user name and password (only once) then it works but im suspecting this is causing a problem for the reports on the previous two machines that worked fine...(we have just upgraded both) it asked for a windows password but you just pressed enter and it logged in.how do you get two xp machines to talk without password prompt i have run the networking wizard on both, and they are both on the same workgroup

Sometimes it occurs, sometimes not (during the same session of usage of NB). This is annoying because usually I need to work with NB on files which are stored in DSK through local network, so if I need to apply a change to a file, sometimes I won't have a chance to do that.
Some minutes ago I configured DSK and NB so that the account for both has the same username and password.When on NB I try to access DSK shared folders, the window I posted above appears, I fill the data but neither this time I have granted access...This is what happens:- I reset NB WiFi connection- Using NB I try to access DSK shared folders --> everything is ok- About 5 minutes passes- Using NB I try to access DSK shared folders --> the authentication window appears, I fill the username and password fields but they won't be recognized

Orange are making us trouble-shoot before this can happen, so the preference would be to install Sky, leave the Orange router unplugged and ignore it until the contract ends. Is this realistic? I know both couldn't use the line at the same time, but could we just unplug our Orange router or would it create slow down or not work at all?

Feb 3, 2013I fought with trying to hang two old BEFSR41 routers on an incoming TWC cable internet. I have a couple of streams going out and one coming in... and I think there are some collissions going on that cause little Urps in the streams. I thought I could put them on two different subnets. Ha. No luck at all so far. The scheme they gave me used a fixed IP and a subnet of 255.255.255.252... now I think I understand why TWC assigned a subnet of 255....252 - so I could only use ONE router. Their little toy is still routing, mine does it's thing.. that's it. In order to add another router and a totally different group of PC's on the same bandwidth... I'd have to get into their box and change the subnet scheme to something more open.. 255.....248, or maybe back down to 255...255.0 I guess..

Then I looked at date on driver and tried to update past june 27, 2006 or to roll many back . This increased my online speed but I could not get all drivers past that 2006 date & year, my computer thinks its the most updated version. It is not. This inability to change them or update still causes windows vista to be slower while operating. I guess I could buy the fix offered on web but I feel I shouldn't have to when I know the problem that microsolft built in. To bad microsoft isn't forth coming with an answer.

Is there any recommended software that would enable me to do that or is Remote Desktop Connection able to do it, and what information would I need in order to be able to identify her on the Internet? I would have thought that any IP address that she can see under 'Network & Sharing Centre' or through the Command Prompt would only display the generic IP address of her ISP, wouldn't it? And would both of us need the same type of software to allow me to connect?

Today, my sister gets on my laptop and leaves the boxes checked, so now when I connect to my WiFi, I don't have to enter in a password anymore. Personally, I don't like this, and want to revert back to having to enter in the password each time. Jun 21, 2012Remove PPPoe settings on Vista. I uninstalled the att software but the pppoe settings remain and my computer says my network is unidentified and will only allow local connection. My XP computer had no problem making the change but the Vista one keeps saying it is an unidentified network. I have tried turning everything off and then restarting the cable and then the computer but it does not work. I have a wireless adapter and can connect the Vista machine to the network with no problem but need a wired connection for games I play so I need to fix the wired problem. I am sure the settings the ATT software changed is the problem but I don't know how to get into the system to fix the problem. There is no router involved. The router is built into the cable modem.
