Jan 3, 2011
When trying to connect a laptop to my router it asks for my password. I am sure I am putting in the correct word but every time my connection fails. Is their anyway of checking my password
I have two xp pro machines that im trying to share an accounting system on one machine is the sage accounting and i want to join another machine to it the sage is working on both machines except the one is not allowing reports, comes up with an erro when i map drives i have to put in a user name and password (only once) then it works but im suspecting this is causing a problem for the reports on the previous two machines that worked fine...(we have just upgraded both) it asked for a windows password but you just pressed enter and it logged in.how do you get two xp machines to talk without password prompt i have run the networking wizard on both, and they are both on the same workgroup
My whole college Campus is enabled with WiFi facility. But the officials said that u cannot connect it through mobile.U can only connect it via laptop.i tried connecting it via mobile, but it asked many other things other then id & password, i Have the id & password, but i dont know what to write in other things.
Well there are 2 PC in my LAN:NBNotebook WiFi connection to my router NETGEAR DGN2200v3 Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1 DSKDesktop Cabled connection to my router NETGEAR DGN2200V3 Windows XP Home Edition 32bit SP3 If from DSK I try to access NB shared folders through network, everything is fine.If from NB I try to access DSK shared folders through network, the following window appears:The strange thing is that this problem seems to occur randomly! Sometimes it occurs, sometimes not (during the same session of usage of NB). This is annoying because usually I need to work with NB on files which are stored in DSK through local network, so if I need to apply a change to a file, sometimes I won't have a chance to do that.
Some minutes ago I configured DSK and NB so that the account for both has the same username and password. When on NB I try to access DSK shared folders, the window I posted above appears, I fill the data but neither this time I have granted access...This is what happens:- I reset NB WiFi connection- Using NB I try to access DSK shared folders --> everything is ok- About 5 minutes passes- Using NB I try to access DSK shared folders --> the authentication window appears, I fill the username and password fields but they won't be recognized
My son decided to update our router firmware, together with this the password was changed. My computer which hosts the Internet connection works fine, all other laptops have now been connected successfully after simply changing the password. However my wifes laptop won't play ball. It is a Samsung R510, with Vista Home Premium OS. It worked fine prior to updating the firmware. I have been through the process of changing the password and have the correct security encryption in place, exactly the same process as with the other laptops.
It then says successfully connected, but shows in the bottom right of the screen, Unidentified network access local only and will not connect when the browser is opened. I have tried to diagnose but the usual windows prompt to reboot both modem and router has no effect. I have set it to private, as advised elsewhere, I have switched the firewall off and removed security software, all to no avail.
I tried the command prompt, then ipconfig/renew. An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has media disconnected. Let me stress that no changes were made to the laptop at all, it is simply not connecting following the firmware update and password change. All other computers, and phones, 6 in total, are all working fine from simply changing the password.
Our office has three networked computers. 2 xp pro desktops and 1 xp media edition laptop. When I set up Access to work with all three I found somewhere that said that xp media has to have a password for that configuration. I'm hoping that was wrong. We backup from the Laptop (Media) to a desktop (XP) and it is currently requiring a passwordThe 2nd destop does not need a password to use shared folders on the main computer. The laptop (media) asks for a password the first time I try to connect to the main computer. I'd like to eliminate the need for a password. I have double checked the settings for gpedit.msc and the "limit local account use of blank passwords" is disabled
My laptop was fine until I got an I pad for Christmas. It took me two weeks to figure out how to get the I pad online...should have been minutes I am told.now my laptop is off and I can not get it back on line..
My dlink wireless has a WEP consisting of 40 numbers (or 4 lines of 10 numbers)When I connected a PC to the dlink it asked for the key and I entered all 40 numbers and it connected without problemI also had to enter all 40 digits for my Wii to connect to it.But when I connected my PS3 I only entered in the first 10 digits and it connectedI have connected various devices to the dLink and some ask for the first 10, some 20 and some require all 40.I have just bought a new phone Samsung Galaxy Ace and trying to connect to the dlink is impossible. I have entered all 40 digits and it wont connect, it just says "authenticating" then "disabled". I have tried the first 10, then 20, then 30 and it still says disabled. The problem then is I don't know whether the phone is faulty or the dlink just wants a particular line of my key.
We have configured an cisco 2800 for vpn clients. The weird thing is that after some time (not specific time interval and no idle connection) asks for re-authentication. Some times after re-authenticating session disconnects.
The wireless router PW has been changed, I got the new one correct but upon entering it on my laptop it goes around circle showing,"Wireless network detected" and then,"Unable to connect to preferred wireless network"It never works. I don't know how to fix this problem. It did not happen on my iPad.
We have configured an 2801 to aggregate some VPN clients. The problem is that between 20 and 50 minutes it asks for re-authentication even though the connection is not idle. Is there a timer that creates this problem?
I have a Cisco Valet wifi router that works fine with my laptop and my computer that has a usb wifi adapter. The problem is that for some reason when I try to connect my moms computer to the router it can only connect to the guest router and when I try to connect to the regular router it just fails even when I use the correct password. I have tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing it for the usb wifi adapter for my moms computer (NetGear N150 USB Adapter) and its nothing works. Her computer by the way is an Acer Windows XP SP3 machine.
Using Windows 7 and router wont connect to the net..it asks for a key password and when I do that it doesnt connect..I have a good channel ..I had a windows XP on this before and no problem..bought a new computer with windows 7 and cant seem to get the router to connect and pick up the signal
I've got a Belkin G wireless router.I've got my Vaio with windows 7 , my other emachines with vista and another acer laptop in the house also on vista/All laptops can connect to the router and internet fine but when I password protect the WI-FI the ACER aspire won't connect to the router, while the other 2 and also a ps3 all connect with the password no problems.
I can't be the only one who misplaced their Router's Password - How do I manage to 'connect' my new devices (Kindle Fire and new smart phone) to my router installed less than 2 years ago.
I am in the process of upgrading a Linksys WRT160Nv2 to a Cisco E4200. I run Cisco Connect and enter my ISP password (7 characters long) and click save but when it refreshes the screen, the password field has 16 characters in it.
I have a Linksys WAG200G DSL wireless router and I recently got Network MAgic. When I am trying to connect to change the wireless settings, it always gives me the message that it cannot connect to the router no matter what password I enter! I even used really simple ones such as admin admin and It WONT connect. It gives me the message "Could Not Access Routers Settings". I have the ESET Smart Security AV & Firewall and I have properly configured them to allow communication of Network Magic. I should note that I CAN connect to the router through a browser.
I have tried to connect my Kindle to my E3000 without success. The Kindle shows that the router is there but after entering my password in the Kindle it will not connect. I tried going into Cisco Connect and enable "Guest" user. Again the Kindle shows that the router is there showing "Guest User" and after entering the password for the guest user it still will not connect. The Kindle does connect to the internet through a router that is shown - I have no idea whose router it is - but at least it proves that the Kindel will connect to the internet.
New laptop and in trying to get connected to wi fi have now made other 2 household user unable to connect, it's asking for a password though I do not recall entering one????
Alright, the computer I had cisco connect on crashed. I got a new computer and I'm trying to install Cisco connect using the downloaded version and I can't install it because it requests the password of the router, which i do not know. This is because I've lost the CD copy of Cisco connect. I've tried resetting the router itself by pressing the red reset button
Alright, My laptop (MSI) won't connect to my router, it used to connect, but I tracked it as intruder to stop my kids from getting on, and when I stopped tracking it as an intruder it wouldn't work at all, same with the computer in my kids room. It will connect to other networks, but not mine. I use network magic.
I have an HP laptop and a N600 NetGear Dual Band router. I hooked up the router and was able to connect to 3 computers. However my husband's laptop we were unable to connect it to the router. When we went into the Connectivity utility on his computer, we found the router and clicked on it. We attempted to put the password that was set by NetGear. However when I went to type in the password, it didn't allow me to type anything. It was as if the keyboard was locked.
Or is the router too "new" for this Laptop? The Windows systems is Xp Professional. Otherwise I may have to return it. We have an older NetGear router that it connects to with no problems.
I recently got a new router, the belkin with n600 db with F9K1102 v1 firmware.i upgraded from my old belkin router to this due to more wireless items in the house and for some reason i cannot get my HP G72 laptop to connect to it, and this isnt the first time i had issues with this laptop. the first issue was that if im more than say 10ft away from the router device my laptop would not connect, but if i was next to it it would work fine.now i can not seem to connect to this new router at all, i can pick it up, just it wont connect.. wirelessly it wont connect, but wired it'll work just fine.i get an error saying i could not be connected, and its going to troubleshoot then it just says it can not resolve my connectivity issues my wired desktop works.
I bought a DIR-655 router and am able to access the internet using my desktop PC just fine... But the problem is I can't get my laptop to connect through the router and i couldn't access the internet.. I always get the message "unable to connect to the internet" or the" limited or no connectivity". Am i missing something with the router's configurations?
My Dell won't connect to my router, it will connect to other routers but I have always had problems connecting to my router at home. My Wireless card isn't turned off...and other devices like my PS3 and Ipod will connect to my router, my laptop is the only thing I can't get to connect.
I set up a network several years ago. The network was to use a printer between an old desktop with XP and a laptop with Vista. This has worked very well until several weeks ago. I would logon to the network on the laptop through the desktop, type in the password and I was good to go. Suddenly the password does not work. The printer works fine through the desktop. We have had several lightening storms in our area recently.
I have 4 Win 7 comps and 1 XP laptop. The XP laptop can see all the comps on the network, but when I click on any of them it comes up with a login & password prompt. I never set up any network password on any of the PCs, 7 or XP. I tried the standard username/password for the comp I was trying to access & the pc I was using and every other combo I could think of. What password is it asking for?
