I seem to be connected to the WLAN but the network and sharing center says the network doesn't have the internet. I can access the internet from two other computers on the same WLAN. I tried ping the modem and that didn' work either.

However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. BUT my question is can we access the internet using the wireless network and the printer using a separate wired network at the same time?

At the moment it keeps fluctuating between giving me interne and not I am using Skype to tell me if I have Internet ( when it's green I do when it's grey I don't) I have tried many things on forums like obtaining ip automatically or obtaining a fixed ip. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using a laptop to stream videos through my xbox for over 2years until recently. I setup a wireless network in the house to do this. All was fine until 3 days ago.I use a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7. I have a Dell Wireless 1397 Minicard, a cisco router (model #2425). Since my laptop was infected by Malware, my network has not worked since. I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti Malware to get rid of it and it appeared to work. I got internet access back. However, I still cannot connect to my network (visible in the Available Network list as normal) or stream any media.Windows Media Centre also has stopped opening and gives me the small box saying 'windows is checking for a solution', then closes with nothing. I can however open WMC if I right click and 'run as administrator'?! I have disabled all other network adaptors, only the Dell minicad is enabled and also tried disabling and enabling this main one with no effect. All problems point to the fact that my laptop can no longer connect to the home network but I cant figure out why?!Another (possibly unrelated) problem is occuring at boot up where I get an error message saying 'Bluetooth Software License not found. [2]' - Again this never happened before the Malware infection.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I turned on my PC the other day and now it can't access our network or the internet.At first I thought it was my lanport, as my router had a light signifying it wasn't getting signal from my pc.I've since tried two different usb wireless adapters and a PIC network interface card. and still can't get it to work.I'm running windows XP SP3. I've got a Netgear N600 Dualband gigabit ADSL2+ modem router, (model DGND3700), wired to an 8port router, which is in turn wired to my PC. In my PC I have a Netgear gigabit ethernet PCI adapter (Model GA311)I've tried running the ethernet cable directly from my modem to my pc.Which the NIC hooked up, and the driver that came with it installed, it says it's connected but there are no packets being sent or received, and no IP address. If I try repair the connection I got an error message saying "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed. Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed."
I called Netgear tech support, they recommended upgrading the driver. I did so, and when I ran the add new hardware wizard or went to device manager -> network cards -> etc I got an error message "Windows cannot load the devide driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)I did run -> cmd then IPCONFIG and got "An internal error occurred: Request not supported. Unable to query host name"With both the onboard lan port and the NIC I tried pinging my router but got this error: "Unable to ping IP Driver; error code 2."So far I've done a system restore, ran netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, ran netsh winsock reset, ran netsh winsock reset catalogue, deleted the tcpip.sys file, updated drivers, rolled back, tried a different PCI slot, IPCONFIG, pinged my modem, tried all the different drivers, rebooted my PC each time, but to no avail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSanta got a second-hand acer mini-laptop for my daughter this last Christmas and she accidentally pour some coke in it, I took it to the shop and I had to pay to repair it; when I got it back, the first thing is that originally it has Windows 7 and now XP, I thought it was ok, but even though I use my network passkey and everything, it quickly connected to the network showing internet access but when I open IE, it shows a message to diagnose connection problems, I run the repair wizard and nothing, but all the time it is showing that the connection is working, will I need to take it back to the shop or is there something I can do?

Woke up around 9am, sat back down, Unidentified network and No Internet access. That's where this god-awful day began. I've tried so many things (from tech forums) I may forget a few... I've tried disabling IPv6, disabling Bonjour, enabling/disabling the adapter card, all kinds of stuff in the command prompt... reset this, flush that, restart restart restart restart restart. I uninstalled the adapter driver, rebooted, installed the latest from a flash drive, didn't do anything. Really the only suggestion I haven't taken is recovering Win7 from factory specs and reinstalling about everything since one guy said that still didn't fix it and this is causing enough trouble already without more misery in the mix.

I have a bunch of computers (mine, the kids, media stations etc.) in my network and one of them is configured to run two different instances of Windows: One for serious stuff (like work) and another for leisure. They're both Windows 7 Ultimate x64 instances and I use BootIt NG for this dual boot setup. Now, when I run the "work" instance I have no problems whatsoever but when I fire up the "game" instance internet dies off at irregular intervals, usually once or twice per hour.I've tried the usual stuff like resetting the IP stack (with ipconfig) and reinstalling the network card driver but the only thing that facilitatess is restarting the VDSL modem/router. I have also replaced the VDSL modem. What's really queer is that all other computers also looses internet access when this happens. And, if this wasn't strange enough, I never loose my WIFI, just the cabled network.

And then not to long ago, i had some kind of virus problem which caused me to get Norton 2012. But now when i try and create a wirless network it says that there is no internet access. But i use my laptops internet with a yellow wire connecting from my laptop to my modem. And the interent works perfectly fine. So i do not know why my interent wont allow me to use a wirless network.

Startet out with getting Trojan.Agent.cn in svchost.exe, according to Malwarebytes it got "removed".But the next time i startet the computer, it was there again. So i did some research on how to remove it.Used tdsskiller, Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit, roguekiller, and finaly combofix, before i got it removed.From this point, Malwarebyte Anti-Malware was unable to start, and has to be reinstalled.Next problem was the Network was stuck on identifying network, after doing some research on my new problem,

After checking out in services, DHCP client, DNS Client, TCP/IP netbios helper, plus some others wasnt running.They were sat to Automatic start, but was stopped for some reason. When chosing to start DHCP client i got this,

Same for DNS Client and others. After searching the net, i found several solutions, where i only got one to "work".Alot of them suggested to edit this in the registry, but the only thing i got working was to delete the entry, and have windows restore it by it self.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have three computers at home: 2 desktops and 1 laptop and they all run windows 7. For a week now I haven't been able to connect to the internet from one of the desktops. The initial setup was wireless and worked fine for years. I've tried every advise I could find online: Powered off and on the modem and the router, disabled and enabled the adapter, reseted WINSOCK and TCP/IP, assigned a permanent IP address, did a system restore to the last day the internet worked, turned off windows defender (windows firewall has always been off), turned off Webroot, I bought a new wireless USB adapter which connected to the network but still no internet access and my last resort: I got a really long ethernet cable and connected directly to the wireless router AND then directly to the modem... NOTHING! Still says that I am connected to an unidentified network and that there is not internet access.

I have two windows.Windows XP and seven.My Windows XP cant connect to the internet.I was downloading a file With IE when my ISP experienced problems and my internet was shut down.Internet explorer was not responding and finally crashed my whole computer.from then on no programs like IE ,Google Chrome , Firefox or even VPN and Dial-up connections can get me connected to the internet. The internet works fine, but it seems to think that I am not connected to the network. I'm not certain it realized that I even had a network, since when I try to activate media sharing it just gets stuck at "Identifying Network". The whole purpose of this is to be able to play music from my computer on my Xbox 360, alternative solutions for this goal would be good too.

The club has one WiFi laptop which will occasionally access the BT Hub 3 using WiFi for internet use only. So essentially we have no network as such, just the BT Hub and a laptop.I would like to allow some club members to have internet access (WPA2 password), but without allowing access to the club laptop in any wayAs I said previously, the club laptop will only be active occasionally, so actual exposure is limited, but ideally I would like for the club laptop to be invisible to others when it is connected. I would also like each members equipment to be hidden from each other, so nobody can access each others data etc.. Can I achieve this simply? If so, do I need extra equipment?
I do have some donated equipment available: Netgear WAG102 Wireless Access Point, D-Link DSL-2640R Broadband Wireless G ADSL2+ Router and US Robotics 9106 SureConnect ADSL Wireless Gateway. Could I use any or all of these?I know this donated equipment is only Wireless G, but speed for the members is not important as they will only use internet access for emails and occasional google searches etc.I've tested the WAG102 at home, by plugging it into a LAN port of my BT HomeHub3 and giving it a different SSID, which works OK, but I can still see the other equipment connected wirelessly to my BT HomeHub3, although I cannot access my home laptop etc. because they are password protected.
Orange sent me a replacement Netgear DNG1000 and from the moment I had it there was issues, if N mode was enabled and I had to set it to B/G only for it to have a stable connection, not a problem as I only use it for the internet. The range on it was roughly the same as the livebox. For a few weeks it worked fine until recently it started to go insane, on the main computer the wifi works most of the time with 80%-95% signal strength, and then every now and then it will suddenly lose communication with the router but act as if it was connected for 5-10 minutes, signal strength is still at about 90% yet I can't access the router or the internet. Wifi works fine at full speed on the stairs, drops to a few bytes per second on the landing and then increases back up to full speed in the room next to it. In the one bedroom the wifi works up until the door where it instantly drops from full speed to a few bytes a second. This drop off point is only a few cms, as in full speed at one place, move it back a few cm and it slows down loads, but I still get 4-5 bars on windows and -50 RSSI on inSSIDer, about 94% strength and a link quality which tends to fluctuate. What could be causing this, specifically the weird instant deadzones and randomly not responding.
