Internet Access Gets Cut Off By One Computer In Network
Nov 9, 2012
Since a while back my internet access dies intermittently. I have a bunch of computers (mine, the kids, media stations etc.) in my network and one of them is configured to run two different instances of Windows: One for serious stuff (like work) and another for leisure. They're both Windows 7 Ultimate x64 instances and I use BootIt NG for this dual boot setup. Now, when I run the "work" instance I have no problems whatsoever but when I fire up the "game" instance internet dies off at irregular intervals, usually once or twice per hour.I've tried the usual stuff like resetting the IP stack (with ipconfig) and reinstalling the network card driver but the only thing that facilitatess is restarting the VDSL modem/router. I have also replaced the VDSL modem. What's really queer is that all other computers also looses internet access when this happens. And, if this wasn't strange enough, I never loose my WIFI, just the cabled network.
How can I block my son's computer from internet access through our wireless router without having his computer in hand? I have accessed the router on line but don't know what to change there.
My windows 7 computer was connected to my home's wireless network yesterday perfectly normally. I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. It labels the network as an "unidentified network".
How do I access shared folders over network XP pro v2002 sp3.I set up a network and have a workgroup called Workgroup. when I go to "entire network"->microsoft windows network->Workgroup and attempt to enter a certain computer I receive the message:"\comp_3 is not accessible. Yu might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access to permissions.Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again."What should I do? I have already enable netbios in the tcpip for the LAN for both computers. I have put on a password for the user of the computer that holds the file and subsequently get prompted on the remote computer, but even after entering the username and password of the host computer I still get this message. What do I need to do to access filesfolders on another computer?
have a VPN set up through windows 7 at home. Until recently, I've always been able to connect to my VPN with my work laptop and access the files on my home computer. Now for some reason, my home computer no longer shows up under "network". I can connect to my VPN without issue, but the home computers just do not show up and I cannot access the files
I have wireless set up in the house. Every computer on the network can access the internet through the router except for one. This particular one also has a verizon broadand air card hooked to it and with that it can access the internet no problem. The problem is only with wireless.
what Ive done so far: 2 different wireless cards, uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers, checked all tcp/ip settings. Manually set DNS servers.
My internet operator told me that you can connect only one connection to broadband cable. If I setup wireless router & can I connect more than one computer to router? Is it possible ?
#2) Laptop - Windows 7 Pro 32 bitI have advanced sharing settings exactly the same.Set to share files and folders on private network. Both computers on the same Workgroup. Set to use username and password rather than homegroup. On the desktop, I set my second hard drive to share a video folder. If I try to access it using \COMPUTER1NAMEVideo (the share path), I get a denied message. If I access the laptop from the desktop and transfer the file that way, it works just fine. The laptop is wireless. The desktop is hooked up to the router.
I have a Windows 7 machine that is wired to the router. I have Windows XP computer that is wireless in another room. Signal is showing 80% and internet is accessible and fast from both systems; but, I cannot access either computer from the other computer. I got the IP addresses of each machine and I cannot ping from either direction. Firewalls are turned off on both systems. When I type in \server, I get an error that say I should check my spelling or use the windows Search; but, that doesn't work.
i have an internet connection thru USB from a ppp adapter from there i've made a netowrk with another computer now on the client computer from my network i have XAMP server who i want to be accessed from the internet .i have subdomain like radionis.zapto.org (192.168.0.2) registered at no-ip.org.now what IP i have to introduce there to make my server accessible.
I suspect that he did something and gained remote access to my computer.I found out about it when I checked my wireless connections on my router and found his name on the network : Steve's - Iphone and a couple of unfamiliar connections. I then opened my task manager and ended some tasks I thought were possibly infected. When I went back to the wireless status, the unfamiliar connections disappeared.
I use Norton firewall + kaspersky internet security and my virus definitions have always been up to date, but I cannot detect anything. I also set my options to permit only MAC authenticated computers and changed my wireless WPA/WPA2 key, but every time I turn my wireless on, this guy somehow is connected to my network. [code]
I see some other threads about this same thing but I wanted to start my own to keep track if what I did. I know zilch about computers.I have an ACER I got less than a month ago. I have Verizon mifi. Windows 7My comptuer says I am connected but it says no internet access. The wifi works fine on my old netbook though. I keep getting error 105 Unable to resolve the server's DNS address. What do I do?
I am connected to the LAN via ethernet cable, but internet access is terribly slow - cant even browse internet properly (work network uses a proxy to connect to internet - not sure if that is relevant). I would like to remain connected to the LAN via ethernet (to provide easy connection to intranet and mail exchange server, but for outside internet connections, I would like to use a mobile 3g connection.
We are trying to get laptop to connect to our wireless. She has entered the network key and the icon says she is connected with a excellent connection, however, we cannot connect to the internet. The other challenge is that everything is in Spanish.
I have 3 computers on my network. The main computer is protected by mcafee. The other computers can not access the public folder on this computer. I know that the problem is the mcafee firewall because when i switch the firewall off the other computers have full access to this folder. This problem started with a mcafee upgrade. I want to keep the mcafee firewall,
I am trying to transfer files from Laptop A to Laptop B. I can transfer files from B to A, but I can't transfer them from A to B. When I try to, I get an error message saying "Windows cannot access Laptop A".It then gives me the option to diagnose the problem (I'm using Vista on both laptops, by the way). When I click that, it gives me the error of "Cannot communicate with Laptop A. We pinged the remote host but did not receive a response".Laptop A is connected to the network according to it, it can access the internet fine and can access other laptops on the network fine. I have disabled the firewall, shared the folders appropriately, made sure they were both on the same workgroup (they are both on the default Vista WORKGROUP), and still nothing.
I bought a wireless router (TP-Link / TL-WR740N) an install it , it works with my laptop and telephone. no problem.now i connected another desktop computer to the router through a wire (LAN port) because the PC has no wire capability , the problem is that i cant access the net.
My mother's computer periodically loses internet connectivity. This happens regardless of the browser (IE or Firefox). She must restart her computer to get access again. This happens regardless of her internet connection. She uses verizon at her home and accesses through my wireless router when visiting. This also happens if she is on a public access network such as a hospital
I migrated my internet from PPPOE to DHCP. My wifi is working with no problem but when I hook up my computer to 1 of the 4 Lan ports I can't seem to connect to the internet I can however log in my router no problem. But I don't get internet access... I wonder what could be the problem. I tried resetting my router and modem to see if just a bug or something but to no avail.
My current network consists of 4 computers, 3 windows 7, 1 Windows Home Server 2003. All are wired to a gigabit unmanaged switch which is connected to a Netgear WNR200V2 router. The router is connected to the cable modem. I replaced the Netgear WNR2000v2 router with a Cisco RV110W firewall which i had preconfigured using another computer. The 3 Windows 7 PC's connected up with no problems. The WHS 2003 computer has no internet access. All 4 computers are visible on the lan and the 3 Win 7 PC can access the internet. I've tried accessing the internet by URL and IP from the WHS with no luck. All computers are assigned static IP's. I've checked all my settings, turned off the firewall in both the WHS and the RV110W with no change. If I plug the Netgear router inplace of the Cisco, all computers including the WHS have internet access. Has to be a setting somewhere in the Cisco router that's blocking the access. IP's for the 3 Win7's are 192.168.1.40, 41,42. Fot the WHS 192.168.1.76.
I have a desktop computer that as of last night worked with the internest. This morning it did not. I have a home network. I also have laptops connected to a wireless router and they have no problem getting into the internet. Not sure waht to do. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.
My computer is running on Windows 7. It has had no prior internet connection problems. It is wired to my DV-2020 router. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). On the computer that does not have access to internet it gives a "local area connection - No Network Access" and "local area connection - unidentified network." So far I've tried:
A system restore. Restarting the router (at home as well as the provider) Changing wiring. Disabling / Enabling. Disabling virusscanner.
I have a Linksys wireless G Router (WRT54G5 model) and I've recently had some problems with it. First problem, I cant find my wireless network from my desktop, but it shows up on my laptop but it wont let me access it from there. The power, wlan, port 1, and internet led lights are all on and green. How can I get my wireless network to show up on my desktop and how can I access it from my laptop? If I unplug my router for 30 seconds and plug it.
I can't access anything on the network. The computer is a Dell running Windows Vista Home Premium. All attempts to access the network fail (ping, local shares, http) and other machines cannot access this one. Network & Sharing Center shows a fault between the Home Network and the internet, however I am unable to Ping or be Pinged by other computers on the Home Network. Other machines on the network are working fine both wired and wireless, although the machine in question is wired only (no wireless NIC).
The following items have been attempted, some many times, in no particular order, all producing no change in symptoms (not a complete list).
Network & Sharing diagnose & repair/reset NIC card. Cold boot. Last known good. Safe mode with networking support. Disable/stop all non-essential services & applications including firewall and antivirus. Upgrade network drivers.
I'm working at a high school which has pretty large grounds. The network is configured via one central router and a lot of access points. Recently, they shut down my access point for a moment after connecting it again. The access point works fine (after finding my problem we've tested a lot of computers and they all connect to it and the internet). My laptop and my desktop - the only computers connected to access point when it was rebooted - do not connect to this access point however!
Instead, they "choose" to connect to an access point farther away, so that my signal strength is extremely low (and hence, my internet connection is very poor). How do I get my computers to connect to the previous access point with the strong signal?
The laptop runs Windows 7 32-bit and the desktop runs Windows 7 64-bit.
I need configuring my N900 router to be able to use Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection to get into my computer from a client's location. I also want to be able to host websites I'm developing so my clients can see the changes before publishing to their website. I have not been able to find anywhere what settings to set to what in order for these two things to be available to me.
Have two other computers that connect with ease to the Netgear wireless router, but the new computer will not access the internet. I have been searching for answers and have tried about everything I can find nuder similar posts, but I still have not internet access. At varying times, I have had "internet access", but no actual ability to load websites. Right now, I do not even have access. I am at a loss.Even at my low level of experience, I am usually able to tinker until I fix the problem, but I am about four hours in and currently seem to have taken a step backward. I cannot even begin to explain what things I have already tried
My computer connects to an unscured wifi near my home and i have internet acces for a few minuets, then it just stoppes. Sometimes if i reconnect it will run for a few more minuets 5-10. I have tried two different computers with same results. about a month ago the connection worked fine. This just started recently.I can connent and access internet at other public places with no problem. It seems only this network i have trouble with, why?I am running XP on one, and Win 7 on other, same results.I have read alot of things and tried them all,
-resetting internet options - changing tcp/ip - system restore with no results.
