My computer sees my network, but I can't connect to the internet wirelessly. If I plug in the Ethernet cable from the modem I can access the internet. So, I've narrowed this down to something with my router.
OS: WIN7
Router: Belkin N750 DB N+
Steps taken:Modem and router have been shut down and restarted.Router has been returned to factory settings and reconfigured.Validated with my ISP there are no issues with my internet service. Router software has been uninstalled, reinstalled I do not use McAfee. I've run a full virus scan, a full malware scan and just for good measure, a defrag. I've checked my firewall.
My second computer was enabled to be brought up on my PC, but after I took it back to factory settings I lost it .Can you tell me how to get it back on my PC?

My housemate's computer still connects fine, my old computer connected fine, the trouble shooting option doesn't work. I'm using windows 7. The computer recognises the wireless strength as 'excellent' but simply informs me that it is unable to connect.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWe have been working with this for a while. Our computer is a HP desktop Windows Vista 64 bit. It is wired to the router. We have a cable modem and a Linksys Wired/Wireless Router (Wrt54G). We also have other computers and video game systems that we connect off and on either wired or wireless. Every so often our internet will just cut out (much too frequently). All the lights are still on on the modem. On the computer(s) the little globe disappears and we are left with just the two computers sign in the tray. The modem still shows internet coming in though. We usually unplug the modem and router, wait and then plug it back in. We have tried unplugging everything before too and we still have this problem. I have checked Device Manager and unchecked the "turn off to save power" boxes. I also just today disabled Wake-On-Lan. (I saw that on another forum. Was that correct?) I went into our router and everything seems normal but I don't know how to use all of it. Earlier this summer I had to redo the entire computer bc the hard drive failed. I had to replace it and format the computer.
I noticed the other day that the computer was trying to connect through ethernet and wirelessly. I turned off the wireless and checked for it to be manualThis is getting old. It happens fairly often. Our ISP said that our modem was fine. They said it was probably the router but they always say that. We are supposed to have maybe 3 meg cable internet. I have done speed checks before and it is about half that. We live several miles from the station. Our internet also goes out in storms or wind but that goes out on the modem. This keeps happening and the modem acts like it is still connected.I need any suggestions on settings or anything I can try. This is really tiresome and I don't know where to look.
trying to connect this printer and it just cannot be done without USB.
Dell Inspiron 1440
Windows 7 64 bit
Cisco e2000 router with WPA-WPA-2 security
AVG paid antivirus
I have completely uninstalled the printer with level 3 uninstall. Downloaded the latest driver from HP website. Went through the wireless network connection wizard (a dozen times) and the printer says it is connected to the network with no problem. Ran the Network Configuration, lists an IP address, excellent connection, no problems. But on installing the driver, the computer absolutely cannot see the printer. Tried entering the IP address, creating a new port directly to the IP address. Nothing. Tried pinging from the computer--nothing. Cannot bring up the printer's IP address on the browser. Disabled the firewall and tried that--nothing. Tried going back and connecting with ethernet cable directly to the router instead. Still cannot see the printer. I had this working once, and then had a virus and had to reinstall Windows 7. There was a trick to getting this to work, and I cannot remember it. Of course, the printer is out of warrantee so HP will not assist, even by email. The only way I have been able to get it to install is with USB, which is pretty darned inconvenient.
Im trying to wirelessly connect my printer to my computer and need the network security key?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Tomato firmware (details below) on my wireless-N router and everything appears to be working fine on the router's end. I can connect to the Internet properly with a wired (Ethernet) connection; in fact, that's how I posted this question.
What I cannot do is connect to the router wirelessly in any way. At first, I thought that something was wrong with my wireless security settings, because I read about some incompatibilities between Windows 7 and AES encryption. However, when I changed to TKIP, the issue persisted; when I switched from WPA2 Personal to WEP, the issue persisted; and when I disabled wireless security entirely — just for testing purposes — the issue still persisted.
My Internet search for this issue brought up a lot of old forum and mailing list posts, most of which were useless. The only one that seemed promising suggested disabling Afterburner, but that came disabled by default on my install. I did try enabling it and then disabling it, but it had no apparent effect.
In case it's relevant: before I installed Tomato, I had a somewhat funky install of dd-wrt on the router. The first thing I did after installing Tomato was a full clean of the nvram through the web GUI's Administration → Configuration → Restore Default Configuration menu.
What do I have to do to get wireless running? I only have one computer available at the moment, but I'll try to update later if and when I can borrow more devices for testing.
Assorted specs:
Linksys WRT160N v3
Tomato Firmware v1.28.9054 MIPSR2-beta K26 Mini
Linux kernel 2.6.22.19 and Broadcom Wireless Driver 5.10.147.0 updates
EDIT:This is a computer issue, not a router issue. Two smartphones with wi-fi connections and another computer are all able to connect to the wireless network with no problems. However, the original computer was able to connect to the same router just fine before Tomato was installed. It has an internal wireless-B/G card, and I had Tomato set up to broadcast G-only, so it should have been compatible.
EDIT 2:The computer in question was the only device in the house that wasn't set up for wireless-N, so I went out and bought a Wireless-N USB adapter and changed Tomato to be N-only. Using the new adapter, I get connection again. I suppose it's possible that the computer's OEM internal wireless card failed at exactly the same time that I installed Tomato on the router, but that would be one heck of a coincidence. I'll see if I can connect to some other G or B network next time I'm around one....
I have wireless set up in the house. Every computer on the network can access the internet through the router except for one. This particular one also has a verizon broadand air card hooked to it and with that it can access the internet no problem. The problem is only with wireless.
what Ive done so far: 2 different wireless cards, uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers, checked all tcp/ip settings. Manually set DNS servers.
My internet operator told me that you can connect only one connection to broadband cable. If I setup wireless router & can I connect more than one computer to router? Is it possible ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSince a while back my internet access dies intermittently. I have a bunch of computers (mine, the kids, media stations etc.) in my network and one of them is configured to run two different instances of Windows: One for serious stuff (like work) and another for leisure. They're both Windows 7 Ultimate x64 instances and I use BootIt NG for this dual boot setup. Now, when I run the "work" instance I have no problems whatsoever but when I fire up the "game" instance internet dies off at irregular intervals, usually once or twice per hour.I've tried the usual stuff like resetting the IP stack (with ipconfig) and reinstalling the network card driver but the only thing that facilitatess is restarting the VDSL modem/router. I have also replaced the VDSL modem. What's really queer is that all other computers also looses internet access when this happens. And, if this wasn't strange enough, I never loose my WIFI, just the cabled network.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy current network consists of 4 computers, 3 windows 7, 1 Windows Home Server 2003. All are wired to a gigabit unmanaged switch which is connected to a Netgear WNR200V2 router. The router is connected to the cable modem. I replaced the Netgear WNR2000v2 router with a Cisco RV110W firewall which i had preconfigured using another computer. The 3 Windows 7 PC's connected up with no problems. The WHS 2003 computer has no internet access. All 4 computers are visible on the lan and the 3 Win 7 PC can access the internet. I've tried accessing the internet by URL and IP from the WHS with no luck. All computers are assigned static IP's. I've checked all my settings, turned off the firewall in both the WHS and the RV110W with no change. If I plug the Netgear router inplace of the Cisco, all computers including the WHS have internet access. Has to be a setting somewhere in the Cisco router that's blocking the access. IP's for the 3 Win7's are 192.168.1.40, 41,42. Fot the WHS 192.168.1.76.

My windows 7 computer was connected to my home's wireless network yesterday perfectly normally. I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. It labels the network as an "unidentified network".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 computers wired to a Netgear R6300. Two of those computers (both running XP SP 3) I added new LAN Gigabit Cards (Tenda TEL9901G) . One recognized the card right away and had no issue connecting to the Internet (using this computer now). The other shows a 1.0 Gbps connection but I can not get any web pages to come up. I can access other computers and devices on the network without an issue on the computer that doesn't connect to the Internet.
If I type in the web address it says "Server Not Found." If I type in the IP address it will come up with the name of the site in the address bar but it still says "Server Not Found." I've tried several times to unplug the router and modem (Motorola Surfboard) and restart everything but the problem was still there. Also, I tried other Ethernet cables and no change. The LAN card drivers are up to date but I don't think the card is the issue since I swapped the new cards (to see if the card was the problem) and it does show a 1.0 Gbps connection. Also, tried uninstall/reinstall, disable/enable the card many times.I didn't change any setting in the router after installing the cards. Here is the ipconfig output:

I installed an E1200 wireless router yesterday and everything worked fine. However, I happened to turn off the modem overnight and now my computer indicates (under Wireless Network Connection) that I'm connected, but above (under Currently Connected To) it says that I have No Internet Access. I tried turning off the modem, router and computer and turning them on again in that order, but that didn't work. Do I need to do the set-up again ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am am having all kinds of problems with setting up my router. I finally got the LAN stuff to work but the wireless will not work its like something is blocking it but I don't see anything. I can ping from wireless to any IP address but I cannot open up web pages. You would think this is DNS issue but I my DNS l looks to be fine and the same DNS works on the 8 port switches on LAN side without issue. I also thought maybe its something to do with ACL but I don't see anything there either.
I built this using a couple of other web posts: [URL]
The first one gets my LAN up and running, and the second one will let me get my wireless up and working and show my SSID but for some reason I am blocked from the internet as far as web pages, and perhaps blocked is not the correct term at this point as it could well be settings but in any case I cannot get there. My level of knowledge is around the CCENT 1, and part of the CCENT 2. I was studying for the first test with my home lab two routers and two older switches when I decided to buy this and since working on this my actual experience has pushed past the first test and pushing me to learn a lot of new things. Many of the things in the AP I still don't understand from IOS perspective. all that bridging is a bit confusing and its not in my videos I study for the test.
(I did find a bug with the 891W model: if you use the GUI and enable the wireless using CCP then you go into the command line and put in guest mode to show the ssid it bugs out and it will not show the SSID. You fix by going back into CCP and turning off SSID and then the command line will work and it shows up, weird huh, but anyway I just put that in here in case some other person is looking for 891W and runs across the error)
Edited: OK I am adding a piece of information. I can ping Google at 74.125.227.51 "from a my PC connected to the wireless AP" but when I Put that same IP into the browser it will not go through. So seems like ICMP is getting through but maybe HTTP and HTTPS are not? I may be on wrong track but seems related.
Note: When connected to the Ethernet switch port 0 of the same router (its 8 port switch built in as well) I can get to all websites via browser without any issues. Its only with the wireless that I cannot.
