View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble seeing my PC from my XBox (I want to use WMC to stream video to XBox). Here's my setup:
ISP provided modem (No branding), connected to my PC Network out (Wired) from modem to Dlink DIR-665 router (which is broadcasting WIFI) Network out (Wired) from Dlink router to XBox
I'm online with the XBox with no issue, but I can't access the PC through Media Centre with this setup. When I connect the XBox to the modem directly, I also have no issues. I'm using Norton Internet Security 2012 if that could be the issue.
I have a Linksys WRT54GL version 1.1. The firmware is 4.30.11 (European version). In the Basic Wireless Settings I can't change the Wireless Channel. It remains at channel 1, and I simply can't alter it.This is strange, because in earlier firmware versions, I was able to change the channel without any problems at all. I would like to continue to use this firmware version. How can I solve this problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer sees my network, but I can't connect to the internet wirelessly. If I plug in the Ethernet cable from the modem I can access the internet. So, I've narrowed this down to something with my router.
OS: WIN7
Router: Belkin N750 DB N+
Steps taken:Modem and router have been shut down and restarted.Router has been returned to factory settings and reconfigured.Validated with my ISP there are no issues with my internet service. Router software has been uninstalled, reinstalled I do not use McAfee. I've run a full virus scan, a full malware scan and just for good measure, a defrag. I've checked my firewall.
I just bought an Asus N55SF with an AR9002WB-2NG.
I can't get it to connect to my D-Link router. I type in the correct WEP and it keeps telling me unable to connect.
It works perfectly fine over ethernet, but the wireless does not work.
I cannot access the WRT610n setup/management pages wirelessly from my Macbook using safari. I can access the router via wireless from iPhone and PC and I can access it from the Macbook via ethernet cable.
When I try to access the router from the Macbook I just get "Contacting..." in the Safari status line and eventually it times out.
I can access the internet using Safari via WRT610n wireless. The only page I can't access is the router's management page.
I am am having all kinds of problems with setting up my router. I finally got the LAN stuff to work but the wireless will not work its like something is blocking it but I don't see anything. I can ping from wireless to any IP address but I cannot open up web pages. You would think this is DNS issue but I my DNS l looks to be fine and the same DNS works on the 8 port switches on LAN side without issue. I also thought maybe its something to do with ACL but I don't see anything there either.
I built this using a couple of other web posts: [URL]
The first one gets my LAN up and running, and the second one will let me get my wireless up and working and show my SSID but for some reason I am blocked from the internet as far as web pages, and perhaps blocked is not the correct term at this point as it could well be settings but in any case I cannot get there. My level of knowledge is around the CCENT 1, and part of the CCENT 2. I was studying for the first test with my home lab two routers and two older switches when I decided to buy this and since working on this my actual experience has pushed past the first test and pushing me to learn a lot of new things. Many of the things in the AP I still don't understand from IOS perspective. all that bridging is a bit confusing and its not in my videos I study for the test.
(I did find a bug with the 891W model: if you use the GUI and enable the wireless using CCP then you go into the command line and put in guest mode to show the ssid it bugs out and it will not show the SSID. You fix by going back into CCP and turning off SSID and then the command line will work and it shows up, weird huh, but anyway I just put that in here in case some other person is looking for 891W and runs across the error)
Edited: OK I am adding a piece of information. I can ping Google at 74.125.227.51 "from a my PC connected to the wireless AP" but when I Put that same IP into the browser it will not go through. So seems like ICMP is getting through but maybe HTTP and HTTPS are not? I may be on wrong track but seems related.
Note: When connected to the Ethernet switch port 0 of the same router (its 8 port switch built in as well) I can get to all websites via browser without any issues. Its only with the wireless that I cannot.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup my network in my home, so that I can extend the wireless signal from my main router by using an access point (a tenda w311r+).But, I want to do it so that the access point isn't connected to the main router with a cable, I want it to be connected to the main router wirelessly. It does say on the box that it can 'bridge' multiple wireless routers.
The access point I have also has 4 ethernet ports on it, so I will use one of these to plug my xbox 360 into.I also want the main router to be responsible for the DHCP.
My friends computer cannot access internet. Was wondering if I could hook it to my computer (using crossover cable) to access internet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have and issue that is bugging me a bit. I have a DSL connection that also is set up with TV also through the ISP modem. I also have 2 phones connected to wall jacks with DSL filters and made sure they both have 4 wire phone lines. I replaced the 2 wire phone line to modem with a 4 wire one. The desk top is connected to modem wired and internet works. There are 3 other slots but they are for TV box's that this company uses (CTC) I bought a Netgear router tried that several times called and ISP stated they won't work with Netgear.Ok so bought a Linksys E 1000 wasn't able to get that one to work either. Brought to another person's place and works fine. Connected back and only way to get to work wired to desk top is to have internet coming on on line 1 and compter on line 2. I can connect to router wirelessly to the routers main page but no interent. I can connect to the neighbors wireless internet so I have to believe that it's not the phones in the place. I can also run a wire from router to laptop and go on internet but does not work wirelessly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two mac laptops and am trying to copy a directory with a number of PDFs in it. The files aren't particularly large, but there are many of them. At some point in the process the router stops and must be turned off and on before it will respond again either wirelessly or wired. I have tried the same experiment with both devices wired and the router works fine. I have tried changing the MTU, channel, beacon setting, etc. as other forum posts have tried. I tried reflashing the firmware, resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring. So far no success. Cisco support wants me to return the router. Frankly I'm at the point of considering the former Linksys/Cisco products complete rubbish. I am going to have to buy a new router even if I return this one since I can't be without a router for any length of time.

The desktop is mine and my roommate wirelessly connects with her laptop and has been doing so no problem for about 6 months (ever since we got the router). On Christmas Eve, she was connected, went out, came home and found she'd lost her wireless connection. Now she can't get it back.I can still get online on the desktop.i've power cycled to no avail. What is weird is sometimes she will click on the list of available networks (so she can choose which she wants to connect to) and mine WILL be there, other times it will NOT. If she does happen to catch it at a moment when my network is there, and she tries to connect using the passphrase, it says "Trying to connect" or something to that effect, for like 3 minutes and then nothing happens. Also, not that I would need to, but if I go to "connect to" on my PC (as if I were looking to choose a network to connect to), my network name doesn't always show. It is random. Sometimes it does not even show when I go to "Networks" on my desktop.

When I hit the button it will go out then come back on white, and blink around 1-2 blinks per second, it will do this for maybe 1-2min. then stops and changes back to orange. and i get nothing from it. the WLAN light is on like it's working but I cannot detect it with my desktop or laptop, can i can detect 3 other routers around me. View 6 Replies View RelatedA couple nights ago, my wireless router (Linksys BEFW11S4 ver4) just stopped letting me connect to the internet. All the lights were still flashing as they should, I could still go to the setup page, I just could not connect to the internet, both through wired and wireless. I could connect straight through the modem though.
So I decided that since the router was probably over a decade old that maybe it was just its time, and I bought a new one (E1000). I connected it, and still could not connect to the internet. I then did some internet searching and found this [URL] and I followed what was mentioned in post 10 (MAC address clone and changing local IP). Now I can connect through the wired connection and I rejoiced thinking I solved it.
Then I checked my laptop and it won't even connect to the router. It sees the router, but when I ask it to connect, it just says it can't. I decided I was too exhausted to try searching and fixing it on my own and if I tried I'd just end up breaking something out of frustration.
I have a WRT120 connected to my cable modem in the front bedroom of my home. The signal is very weak in the back bedroom, so I would like to use my spare WRT54G as an acess point/bridge to extend my wireless range. Is this possible without cables?
