Can't View Wireless Networks?

Aug 22, 2011

I have a Dell inspiron that is about 3 years old. About a month ago I wanted to connect to a wireless network, but there were none visible. I was in a coffee shop where I know there was a strong signal, but nothign showed up. I checked with a friend who was with me, and not only was he connected, he could see 5 other networks in the area - I showed none, even though when I put my mouse over the icon in the lower right of the try, I got a message that there were wireless networks available.Even at home, where it connected automatically, if I clicked on view wireless networks, ny own network that I was connected to wouldn't even show up.

View Available Wireless Networks

Jun 24, 2012

What changed on my Win XP wireless network connections, but I used to be able to see about 5 wireless networks in the neighborhood, including mine. Now it only shows mine. Not that I can connect to any of the others (don't have the security codes), but I find it strange that it used to show all of them, but all but my own have suddenly disappeared. Did I check some setting somewhere (that I can't find now) saying to show only the strongest connection?

Can View Wireless Networks But Can't Connect

Aug 22, 2011

I'm working off a three-year old HP notebook, dv-2000 series, running Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit.I suddenly lost wireless connectivity. I can still see wireless networks available - unsecured and secured, five-bar signals - but trying to connect to them fails. This is not a matter of connecting to the network but not having internet access, but rather being completely unable to establish any connection.Troubleshooter says Windows is unable to determine anything. It says check the access point, but I cannot connect to any network - home, starbucks, etc. I have reinstalled both network drivers (ethernet and wireless adapter).I have plugged into a wired connection and updated Windows to the most recent set of updates.I've obviously reset the machine, toggled the wireless, etc.I've reset the TCP/IP stack.I've checked that the WLAN service is running, as well as the DNS and DHCP client services. ipconfig says the wireless adapter has DHCP and Autoconfiguration enabled. Device manager says everything is working fine.

802.11b Netgear Router / Unable To View Wireless Networks

Aug 15, 2012

A friend of mine had a 802.11b netgear router and all of her computers were running just fine on it so she says. She bought and installed a 802.11n router and bought usb adapters for all her computers and all work, except one, a Dell Optiplex 330 that runs Windows XP.Some drivers were missing such as her Ethernet Controller and a chipset driver but I was able to install those from the Dell website. She had not yet bought a new USB adapter for the computer, I tried using my D-Link adapter and I can see the network in the D-Link connection manager but in Windows when I go to view a list of wireless networks, it doesn't show any. I cannot connect to the network from the D-Link connection manager.

Atheros AR5700EG - Unable To View Available Wireless Networks

Sep 23, 2012

There are a ton of posts about this issue, and I have tried everything. I have an ASUS Eee 1040 PC with an Atheros AR5700EG wireless network adapter running on Windows XP. I've had the computer for a couple years and it has worked fine, until recently. Using inSSIDer, I can view all wireless networks within range, but using Windows, I cannot connect to any wireless networks. It gives me the message that "No wireless networks were found in range." I had a few hotspots that I would regularly use and they are not showing up in the list of preferred networks. I know for certain that some of the hotspots that are within range are indeed broadcasting their ssid. I can only connect if I manually add a hotspot as a preferred network and configure it with the correct security settings. Even then, viewing available wireless networks gives nothing, and Windows doesn't remember the hotspot. Here is what I have tried:restarted Wireless Zero Configuration service checked windows files haven't changed using sfc /scannow in a command window updated the driver for the wireless adapter rebooted the computer kicked and screamed

What else can I do short of reinstalling windows?

Now, I know there are networks available near me because I have connected to them before it just seems that now some service or setting is disabled on my laptop that is preventing me from viewing other networks near me. Laptop Can't View Home Networks?

Nov 29, 2011

I'm trying to transfer filed from my laptop to my pc but I'm having problems. First of all both comps are running on windows 7 64 bit. Its weird because out of the 4 computers I have in the house, all of them can see each other EXCEPT my laptop, which cant be seen by any other computers, and when I'm on the laptop I can't see any others.I setup a home network with pass protect off, sharing on etc... on my laptop and no other computer can see it. I think somethings up with the connection though. On this computer I'm on right now, my connection sais "network" and not my actualy connection name. On my laptop, (I have a ethernet plugged in, wireless works also, tried both) when I'm connected it sais Bell~ (my internet name). So my laptop shows my internet name even when its connected through ethernet, but my desktop sais network, not the name

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 - Can't View Network Shares Via Wifi

Feb 28, 2012

I've recently upgraded my home network and now my wdtv can't connect to my shared hdd's on my pc for streaming purposes.  Previously I had some piece of **bleep** G router/modem combo from Verizon and I didn't have any problems accessing my network shares, I did have a streaming problem with some .mkv's because the signal was so poor.  I Finally dropped some cash on a d-link modem and an linksys E3000 router. Here's the messed up part, if my wdtv is plugged, physically, into my router I can access my shares just fine.  I can stream movies with out any lag what so ever.  If I go wireless (as I have previously been with the old westell router/modem combo) I can no longer see my network shares. I can connect to the internet and do netflix, pandora, ect.  But when I go under network shares all that shows up is my router..

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200v2 Bridge Mode - Cannot View / Ping Device

Feb 20, 2013

I currently have 2 e4200 wireless routers. The first router is connected to 3 devices via ethernet, and the 4th port is connected to my other e4200v2 which is set as bridge mode. The main router is at one end of the house, the second bridge mode router is at the other end.My wireless devices are connected to the main e4200v2, along with all the wired clients.

When wirelessly connected to the 2nd e4200 (the bridged one) I cannot connect to or ping any wireless clients that are connected to the main router. (For example, in my bedroom I am connected with my computer to the 2nd bridged router, and I am trying to ping my other computer that is wireless connected to the main router. I am unable to ping to this computer. When I am conected wirelessIy to the mian router, than I am able to ping the other wireless computer on the same router. Note:I am able to access any hard wired devices to the main router, regardless of which router I am connected to. The issue only appears to be when trying to connect to a wireless device that is connected to a different router than the device I am connecting from. Both routers are setup on the same subnet mask with firmware Ver.2.1.39.145204

Bridging Two Wireless Networks?

Aug 27, 2012

My current project is to have a printer that actually works. You don't need one often, but when you do you really need one. I'd like the printer to be wireless as we all use laptops but don't want to have the printer near the router.

The simple solution is to shell out for a wireless printer, but I have access to a cheap (and good) ethernet only printer. Now, how to connect it? I have a spare old router, which I'm thinking of connecting to the printer. I'd then have to get the router to join the network (is that possible?) or somehow bridge them. The to devices to join would be this and this.
