Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS4.2 On 1113 Platform To Be Integrated With Unix Directory
Mar 21, 2011
Any relevant doc for ACS4.2 on 1113 platform to be integrated with Unix Directory service having LDAP10.2.0.0 version from Oracle or guidance available.
What are the VMware requirements to run ACS4.1.4? Im trying to use a VM this as the migration server. According to the cisco docs, it states that: "ACS 4.1 has been tested on the VMWare ESX server with the following configuration:
•VMWare ESX Server 3.0.0 •16 GB of RAM •AMD Opteron Dual Core processor •300 GB hard drive •Four virtual machines •Windows 2003 Standard Edition •3 GB of RAM for the guest operating system"
I understand it will work as it "has been tested" with those specs, but the doc does not state the minimum requirements for the virtual machine. I dont want to use/find 300GB of space if I only need 20GB(as an example) to make it work.
I'm installing ACS4.2 in our lab domain and want to leverage the corporate domain for authentication. The one way trust is in place, but there is a facet that I'm not clear on in regards to the installation requirement.
I'd like to install ACS on a lab domain member server, but I'm not sure that will work. The installation docs seem to imply that a member server must be in the same domain as the authentication server, but its not very clear. if I want to use the one way trust to the Corporate Domain, am I required to install ACS on the domain controller of the Lab Domain?
When the users connect their laptop they are getting a authentication prompt but the switch is not changing the VLANs on the port after successful authentication.Below are the logs on the switch

we have a Cisco ACS 1113 SE running v4.0.1.44 and are trying to upgrade it to v.4.2.0.124 following the instructions to upgrade it to v4.1.1.24 first.
We are using the following CD "ACS SE Overall Upgrade CD ACS 3.3.4 and 4,1,1,24 Upgrades"
We can download the 4.1.1.24 image to the ACS appliance via distribution server but the upgrade fails- we obtained the following console output when attempted upgrade was tried;
Upgrade package was not verified Applying this upgrade package may corrupt the appliance Continue at your own risk!
I have some VSAs to import into my 1113 box, but I am stuck before I can even start :-( I have an accountActions.csv file containing some VSAs (this is just a test csv file.) I also have an FTP server that is accessible from the 1113 system.
When at the GUI for the 1113 I do System Configuration --> RDBMS Synchronization I get the RDBSM Synchronization Setup screen all right. I have entered all the parameters associated with the FTP server, and selected manual synchronization. The problem is that there are no entries in the AAA Servers window at the Synchronization Partners section at the bottom, and therefore I can't get the 1113 to retrieve my accountActions.csv file, an action that (I guess) is triggered by clicking on the Synchronize Now button.
I do have an AAA Server defined in the 1113. It's a RADIUS server called Self, not assigned to any NDG.I guess I do not understand this at all. I just want to import some external VSAs. Do I need to have an external AAA server to accomplish this? If not, how do I get my local Self server to appear in the list of synchronization partners?
Does cisco provides updates for underlying windows server in ACS SE 1113 ? Patch updates are available for ACS 4.2 , but how can we update underlying windows server , Does patches for ACS is enough to secure underlying windows server .
3)applAcs_4.2.1.15.8.zip (ACS SE 4.2.1.15.8 cumulative patch)
take it forward to upgrade by step by step procedure. ( is that same like TFTP to transfer these packeges to appliance or different method? ) (we are using Windows XP system)
I tried to re-image a cisco 1113 ACS appliance into windows 2003 and was successful. I suppose to use this for my staging/LAB.My only problem is the NIC cards shows unknown since no appropraite driver was found. Googled for a few days but ends up nothing. What is the exact driver?
I want to gather an inventory of all devices that shows the AAA client name, IP addresses, authentication method and key under my Network Configuration on my ACS appliance. Is there a report to run in it that will shows this, or is something that has to be done manually?
I have an 1113 acs server which is not booting and hanged. Earlier its was working but i am facing the problem from today. I capture after reload the devices its asking for press F2 and F12 but when i try to do same its not allow to do the same.(Also attached the capture)
When i try to check the same through connect the desktop and reload the devices its showing the Cisco logo screen after that its showing the blank screen.is the ACS gone faulty or I will have to try with reimage the devices.
Our ACS appliance (Cisco 1113) has died and it is not cost effective to get it replaced as it will only be used until the end of this year.Is it possible to get the tacacs software to install on a Windows server? How do I go about sourcing the software as the original documentation is no longer available? Will the fact that I have a defunct appliance be sufficient proof to get a copy of the software? We are currently running v4.1
We are using ACS 5.2 and we are trying to create a Microsoft Active Directory (AD) Identity Store. We have a user to be used in the Active Directory creation General page and we would like to know how the test communication / ACS to AD communication takes place.
Our user is a predefined user in AD and has admin rights, but the password expires every 60 days. Will this affect the communication between AD and ACS 5.2 at everytime the entered user's password expires?
I just just purchased a CSACSE-1113-K9 and I need to wipe the Administrator password. I am also not sure what the default login credentials even are. There doesn't seem to be much out there for this device or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place?
Having CSACSE-1113-K9 with ACS 4.2.15.I want to configure windows user database under extrenal user database but i get an error (attached) 'An error has occured while processing the Authen DLL Configure pagebecasue an error occured.I tried to stop the services and start agian but the same issue. The eappliance is secondary (backup) ACS. On the primary it is working fine.
I've recently installed a certificate on my ACS 1113 appliance and in the Admin setup enabled management access over HTTPS. Since then I've not been able to access the GUI console. I have done some troubleshooting and I'm fairly certain that I have a certificate issue as Firefox gives me the error: Certificate type not approved for application. (Error code: sec_error_inadequate_cert_type)when I try and connect. So I want to either reconfigure the management access to use just HTTP or remove the certificate. I have logged on to the serial console and there are no options her to do this. The RADIUS and TACACS functions are working correctly - I just can't logon via the GUI.
I Have a requirement to migrate from ipv4 to ipv6, I have checked the scalability of all the devices for this migration except ACS 1113 Solution Engine, Version 4.2. I couldnt reach the proper documentation to check its support for ipv6.
I am currently deploying Cisco ASR9K BNG solution and it needs to be integrated with a Cisco ACS 3.3 (yes that old .. going to migrate to new product in the future) equipment. There are several specific attributes need that are not on the base config of the ACS 3.3 but it seems that i can configure them manually:In addition to supporting a set of predefined RADIUS vendors and vendor-specific attributes (VSAs), Cisco Secure ACS supports RADIUS vendors and VSAs that you define. Vendors you add must be IETF-compliant; therefore, all VSAs that you add must be sub-attributes of IETF RADIUS attribute number 26..This is from the ACS 3.3 configuration manual.I have never done this user defined VSAs.
I'm working with a 1113 ACS device running the 4.2.0.124 software. I'm trying to get multiple network device groups to use an existing Remote Agent set up for authentication against our Windows domain. For instance, we want our infrastructure switches to authenticate agains the local Active Directory and our WLC to authenticate users agains the same Active Directory. When I try and set both network device groups to use the same remote agent, it fails and reports either the host name is already in use or the IP address overlaps with an existing remote agent.
The question is:
Can I have multiple network device groups use the same remote agent? Or do I have to install the remote agent software on separate Windows servers in order to have different types of devices authenticate against the Windows AD?
We are looking to deploy ISE supporting 5000 devices and would like to use the Cisco UCS platform to host this. Looking at the spec required a C22 M3 would be sufficient; however we would also like to host some UC applications on the same server if resources allow.
Therefore we would like to deploy ISE on a C220 M3 server and connect the associated NIC to a DMZ. We would then like to deploy UC applications such as CUCM and CUPS on the same UCS server with a NIC attached to the internal network.
Also while the UC application would require a UC Foundation License (R-VMW-UC-FND5-K9) whould this also meet the requirements for ISE?
I have installed ACS 5.2 and configured it to join the Company's Domain as an External database with Active directory 2008. I'm facing a problem that the user once authenticated using it's active directory account it's cached in the ACS and take a while for the ACS to clear this username. For example, if user TEST authenticates and then we removed this user from the AD and then tried again; it authenticates although this users is removed from the AD !!! same thing happens when we change the user group on the AD, it takes a while for the ACS to clear the old user attributes and get the new ones from the AD.
it there an aging time for this caching mechanism, or can i clear the dynamic users manually just like in ACS 4.X ?
I am receiving a RADIUS authentication failure stating user must change password; however, password has been changed in AD and is not requiring change password any longer on the AD side.
Is there a cache on the ACS that needs to be cleared? AD connection from ACS to domain is fine. All other accounts authenticate.
It appears that if a user lets their account expire is when this happens. Account has been reenabled in AD and password has been changed. Still will not authenticate via ACS.
I'm attempting to integrate an acs 5v into the domain through the gui. The connection will establish, and the status will read 'connected', just as it lists the domain I've submitted. However, I can't seem to find anything listed under the directory groups, and when I run a connection test, I simply get 'Global Catalogue port status error.' Eventually, I'd like to configure this as a radius server.
question 1. in the typical active directory environment and doing wireless/wired 802.1x authentication on endpoints, should ACS join as a domain computer?
question 2. for the endpoint (domain computer) join the domain, in this case is the endpoint will trust the ACS ( also domain computer) ?
question 3. what if there's a GPO policy to install the rootCA certificate toward the endpoints. In this case, ACS should issue the CSR and let the domain CA to signed as the identity certificate? Am i correct?
I am working with ACS 5.2 and using Radius authentication for vpn client.
The authentication method used is Active Directory in an Windows enviroment with multiple domains in the same forest.
My problem occurs when i change a user from one group to another in Active Directory. After that i receive the following message when try to connect:
15039 Selected Authorization Profile is DenyAccess
The message is because match the default policy. Another user in the same AD group works fine. All domain in the forest have trust relation each other. I am using universal groups to include users from all domain belongs this forest.
A customer uses Active Directory where some group names contain special characters (ç ~ '^). The Cisco ACS 5.2 is presenting the warnings: "Not all Active Directory user groups are retrieved successfully. One or more of thegroup's canonical name was not retrieved "(Category CSC Oacs_ Identity_ Stores_Diagnostics; code 24457).
What are the results of these warnings to the customer's network? Slow? Loss of access?
configure the Cisco ACS to authenticate the users from MS Active Directory. Cisco Acs = 4.2.1(15)Currently, i have multiple users configured as local databse. but now i want to authenticate with the domain users.
I have an ACS 5.1 and am trying to integrate with windows 2008 R1. The ACS has a valid AD account and indicates that its connected but when I try to list any directory groups my windows IE browser hangs?
Rather than maintaining local accounts is it possible to authenticate admins against AD? I'm talking about administrators of the ACS server itself to be clear.
I've successfully integrated ACS 5.3 with Active Directory for 802.1x implementation. Now i want to cache Active Directory users in ACS so that the user request from ACS does not go to AD every time.
After a certain time period the ACS database gets sync with AD.
I can add a ACS 5.1 to an Active Directory without using the administrator account, I have a domain administrator account by another name. I can use this account to include the ACS domain.
I have a account domain admin but when i try to add the ACS to AD have this message "can not resolve network address"
