Win 7 32bit pro WLC 6.0.196.0 and AP 1142 , associated in 802.11G or N WPA 2 preshared key.
WLC Roaming parameter : minimum RRSI -80dbm, roaming hysteresis 2dB, adaptive scan threshold -70dBm, transition time 5sec.
The laptops are supposed to be compatible with CCXv5 program, but in WLC (and two controllers CT-5508) the client is not seen as CCX client compatible !
So roaming is bad. Even with a very good and dense wifi coverage (no coverage hole detected), because the laptop still stay associated with a far AP (until -90dbm), instead of roaming with the nearests APs (-40dbm !!)

Ive gone to dell support site and literately downloaded all the drivers on the page. Device manager doesn't seem to be detecting the card at all, the dell Wlan utility wont even start ive reinstalled the driver multiple times i even tried the intel site for drivers.
The big problem is i don't know what wireless card it is and its hard to find out because the support pdf for the laptop shows multiple possible cards.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS M4A785-M MB with an on-board LAN and all of a sudden stopped working yesterday. I have it connected to a 4-port D-Link network switch which has one other computer connected, and the switch is hard-wired to my wireless router.
Here are the trouble-shooting steps I've tried:
- uninstalling/re-installing the driver
- tried using different wires.
- by-passed the switch
- used the wired connection with the other computer
- tested the wire for my troubled computer on the other computer and it works fine
- pinged the loop-back IP address (127.0.0.1) and it tested ok
- bought a new NIC and still no connection

I've confirmed there is no prob with the router or signal as I can detect the network in my room and connect to the internet (using a homeplug hardline). I've tried enabling and disabling both the router and wireless card, a system restore (windows made no changes), and when I came to use the windows 7 troubleshooter - it says the device is not enabled?
I run a windows 7 x64 and I am currently running a Intel (r) 82579V gigabit network adapter. The thing is, the driver was made for 82579LM and V versions. Most of the time, my computer reads the adapter as the LM version, in which the ethernet just won't work. Once in a while it gets the V version and everything is alright, but i can't live with such uncertainty. Mostly people suggest i should just buy a new motherboard (?) or a new network adapter, but i'm sure it's a software problem. Shouldn't there be other solutions? The card itself is integrated.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm off to university on Monday but I couldn't afford a laptop (I have a huge Dell gaming desktop!) so my awesome parents gave me their little Acer Aspire One D260-A netbook; Intel Atom Processor N450 (1.66GHz, 512K), 1GB, 160GB HDD. It's a couple of years old, was running XP and literally everything was broken - no sound, no backlight, faulty touchpad etc. - so first port of call was a clean install of Windows 7 and updating every driver (and BIOS) off the Acer website from a USB.Problem is, everything is running like a dream... except for the wireless. When I tried to install the latest Atheros drivers (doing all of this from a USB due to lack of connectivity) I received a Code 10: driver cannot start error, so after some troubleshooting I was pointed towards different drivers, only for Windows to inform me that it can't find the hardware.
Looking in devices, I'm seeing an Atheros Ethernet connection device but the wireless card seems to have taken a walk. Xirrus isn't seeing anything either. My current internet is between Virgin and BT (mine and my partner's house) but we move in together on Monday and we'll be setting up Sky, so I can't give you much information on internet. I do have an ethernet cable I can plug into our Virgin wifi home router (D-Link DSL-2640R Broadband Wireless G ADSL2+) if need be. One of my main problems seems to be finding the correct drivers as due to the wireless card disappearing, I'm not sure how to tell what the wireless hardware actually is.

ISP is Bell Fibe 25 Router is the bell modem/router in one. My son's Laptop goes in that room, and has no issues. I have made sure the drivers are up to date on both the router/modem, and on the laptop itself. The only thing I cna think of is that it is the card itself that is faulty.

Since then, it has caused a ton of problems, which caused me to finally re-install Windows 8. Now, however, it does not recognize the wireless card and its drivers, and does not let me install from the CD, or through any alternate sources ?
Want to use WOL on 8300 with Broadcom Netlink card. Everything seems to be configured correctly: bios, network card, port forwarding etc. In fact I can wake up the 8300 over the internet following a complete shut down, but only if I do it within 3 secs or so, then it fires up OK. If I wait a little longer it will not respond to the Magic packet. I notice something strange which I suspect may be related: when I restart the PC, in the power management of the Broadcom card the box is checked that allows te computer to turn off the Broadcom card to save power, while I am sure that I unchecked it before shutdown. I suspect this setting is somehow overwritten by Windows. mentioned all BIOS setting are to enable WOL. As if Windows is ensuring that the Broadcom card is powered down so it cannot receive the Magic packet to initiate a startup.
