some misconfiguration (?) may be the reason for an undesired behaviour we are experiencing with our Cisco CSS 11501s. Balancing mechanisms work fine, however if a service transitions to the "down" state, the corresponding flows remain "alive" leading to a temporary outage of our service. Subsequent client requests are still being sent to the "down" frontend which is unresponsive.

I am trying to establish a Terminal Server session with Single Sign-On (SSO), but without success. Normal login with Username and Password on the TS are functionning, but never SSO session. The environment is: 10 Windows 2008 Terminal Servers (NTS1, NTS2,NTS3...). In DNS I have a host A named TS with IP for balanced CSS. The problem I see is that the client PC opens a TS session to "TS". then dont work SSO, but if client PC open a TS session to NTS1, NTS2...is working fine the SSO I am not sur if we can do something on the CSS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a pair of CSS 11501,Currently it is using source ip for load balancing and 5 servers as backend , however we have users loggin in using http and based on its source IP (ISP PROXY) , it is forwarded to SERVER A.However, we have a SSL page and when the client switches over to SSL , it is forwarded to SERVER B/C/D/E based on its source IP ( REAL CLIENT IP) .This will cause the user to be terminated as the 5 servers are independent and not running in a cluster.
Is there any way that we can use the X-Forwarded-For address to load balance so that when users loging , they are sent to SERVER A (Based on X-Forwarded-For Header IP which translate to REAL CLIENT IP).This way we are able to also send it back to the same server when it uses SSL.I believe that we should be able to load balance using X-Forwarded-For IP or to rewrite the X-Forwarded-For IP into client source IP.
implementation of the cisco CSS 11501 boxes available as spare on our site into production for an application evry thing worked as expected. i was able to telnet the active/master box and was able to console both master and backup box from the console port.however a week post the activity im faced with this weird problem where im not able to take console or the telnet access of my primary/active box.The boxes are working in BOX-to-BOX redundancy and now im not able to telnet or console my active/master box. The telnet and console window prompts me for username and password and after entering the credentials nothing happens. no prompt or no error message is displayed.
The telnet primary authentication is via tacacs and secondary is via local. however for console im not using any method for primay authentication and local for secondary authentication. however i can successfully console my backup box. below are my obsrvations 1. the left and right status LED on the active CSS box is OFF.- it means my CSS 11501 failed and has no power. 2. upon firing the rcmd command with show line command on backup box i see that the telnet sessions and console session is established with the master box3. the redundancy state of the active box says it is master and has not changed state since my last activity, no application issue reported, all the services are active on the active box and also i can ping the active box ip address from my backup box over which box to box redundancy is established. This confirms the active box is functioning well 4. i initially thought the telnet sessions are not getting cleared, however the show line cmd with the rcmd cmd on the backup box confirms this is not happening. now im stuck as the active box cannot be accessed at all via console or telnet. i was thinking of below steps to be carried out.1. to failover the boxes and make the backup as master2. then try to take the faulty box off the network and troubleshoot (are there any other commands that i should use to troubleshoot)3. if nothing works try rebooting the box and check
NOTE: the software running is version 7.20.30.3 with standard feature set. we are not using cvdm or the CSS GUI. we could access the css initially on CSS gui and that is also not working now.

We cannot access the ports from the ACE directly. We can still however acces the VIP on the TCP port (L4 VIP class-map). So we can still telnet to the VIP on the port from thr Client side of the network.This is on ACE 20 Modules deployed in Routed mode. The version of software is A2(3.3).
Tried removing multi-match and loadbalance policies as well as class-map and re-applying then re-appyling the service policy to interface. Same behavior,This is a problem at another level as some services are being monitored by GSS via TCP keep-Alive and this obviuosly causes a problem as the service then never goes off-line.

We had an incident in our network where a layer 2 loop caused some high traffic through the CSS' and had to shutdown some network gear(including the CSS) to clear the problem. When the CSS' were powered back up, the SSL service was suspended, why this would occur? There rest of the config appeared normal. I am the only person on these boxes, the configs were written, and I have never had a reason to suspend the ssl service.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a work computer...Dell Latitude 6400, AT&T Global Network Client (Company VPN service), using Novatel USB551L from Verizon, with their new 4G LTE. First connect to Verizon, then it automatically launchs ATT Global Network Client, once connected, the system automatically maps drives. I stay on for about 15 minutes average to 40 minutes that's when the Verizon drops/disconnects. This consistantly happens throughout the day!
1. If I connect to a "local" wireless signal NO dropping.
2. If I tether my Sprint Android, NO dropping.
Only dropping with the Verizon. I MUST have the Verizon dedicated to this work computer to run the VPN and hopefully (very soon) a mandated VOIP with Avaya!Called Verizon- they sent me a new USB thinking that might fix it. But same thing. They are showing signal strength 4G. Nothing on their side.
Service provider is Charter, modem is a Motorola SURFboard Gateway SBG6580 that I bought on my own. We're new to cable internet service, having had slow but reliable DSL up until now.Periodically (3-5 times a day, at least), our internet connection drops. When this happens, the power and wireless lights are on, all other lights are out. The only solution is to unplug, count to 10, and replug the modem. i need to be able to find out what application/service is sending out net bios broadcasts on a network segment the requests are for machines that no longer are on the network but something is trying to obtain there ip address as they are not in dns any more i am assuming this is why they are resorting to netbios broadcasts i need to some how isolate what application or service is trying to find out.

I have a ACE module A2(3.5) installed, I am having a connectivity problem between two servers in my network. I have captured some traffic on different points in my network and from capture it seems like the problem is with this ACE module or somehow it is closing the connection.

I am in a position where I need to manipulate traffic flows from the inside network outwards for TCP80 & TCP443 traffic toward a transparent proxy server while default routing the remainder of the non-matching traffic.
Can anybody think of a way to do this with the ASA? Would a destination NAT work?

Under "Specifying Hosts and Networks / Remote Network" i use not the external ip of remote Site, i use the internal networks ( 10.0.1.0 and 10.0.2.0 ). I need connetion to two remote internal networks ( from 10.0.0.0 to 10.0.1.0 and 10.0.2.0 ). The Tunnel (Phase1 and Phase 2) comes up when i ping a host of the second (10.0.2.x) remote network, but a ping is not possible. Syslog says "Asymmetric NAT rules matched for forward and reverseflows; Connection for icmp src outside: 10.0.0.x dst dmz:10.0.1.x (type8, code 0) denied due to NAT reverse path failure ". On both Sites VPN connections with Cisco VPN Clients are possible.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an ASA 5510 running version 7.0. I have a problem with an exchange server using a static map and its outbounc connectivity. It connects outbound through the global address even though inbound connectivity works fine through the static mapping. The recent changes are changing of the zero route through a different interface (there are to circuit connected to this ASA on different interfaces). So the idea was to get all workstations in the office using the global address and routing out through one circuit, and the servers connecting in/out through the other circuit. Shouldn't a static mapping ignore what the zero route is?

So exchang2 server can be connected to from the outside properly via IP xxx.207.51.231/exchange2-outside, but all outbound connections from this server are going out via IP xxx.122.47.218/circuit-6mb as do all the workstations due to the global address statement.
I am new to ASA's and have just configured my 5505 out the box with an outside (10.10.1.7) + inside (192.168.1.1) IP & NAT. The ASA has got a default route to another router (default geteway) thats connected to the internet. I have it connected this way so I can play and **** around with the ASA. I am seeing the following error on my Cisco ASA 5510 running 8.4(4):Asymmetric NAT rules matched for forward and reverse flows; Connection for tcp src inside:10.1.0.8/1798 dst inside:10.1.0.14/25 denied due to NAT reverse path failure .Doing research I see there are plenty of nonat statements regarding connecting from one interface to another, but why am I seeing this error on the same interface.All our servers are connected via a Cisco 3750G switch with a very basic config. Why is the firewall interjecting itself and causing these issues?
