Two different WAN links get connected to the firewall via two routers.(Different ip subnets).I need to get this two wan streams seperatly to the core switches.Core switches sits.Active/Stanby senario. If the Active core goes down Stndby Core will have take over the traffic. My design is correct ,if not what do i need to change. ASA is 5520.

Connecting ASA 5520 to two Catalyst 3560G layer 3 switches. What's the best practice to connect the asa-5520 at the edge, to the core of my network? What I'm looking to do is connect two routed gigabit ports (gi0/2 and gi03) to two seperate layer 3 routed ports on catalyst 3560G. I'm wondering how to do it, or if there's any type of failover method? I'm running EIGRP in the network and the link to the first core switch has a /30 point to point connection. Everything works fine, I'm just not sure how to connect the second switch to the firewall. Should I use the a different /30 for the point to point connection to csw02 gi0/48? (See attachment) How would this affect traffic flowing through this interface? Would I have to duplicate rules I have on my inside (gi0/2) interface? Is there a way to make the inside2 interface standby some how? I want to know the best way to set this up, so in the event csw01 goes down I don't loose internet. Will EIGRP work it's magic and only use 1 path to the ASA? Should I even be using routed interfaces on the ASA and just use trunked mode?Running ASA 8.4?

1. I have 6509 switch
2. I have 2 WLC configured in Active/Active mode connected in Trunk mode (L2 Port-Channel) connected with 6509 switch
3. On switch side i have configured the port as Trunk
4. L3 SVI for wireless users are created in 6509 switch (attached the diagram).
I would like to introduce a Cisco ASA 5520 firewall with AIp-SSM module so that all wirelees traffic can be inspected.

I have a question with regard to setting up the ID firewall on the ASA 5585 in a single forest, multiple domain windows network.Currently I have a semi-operational IDF at the top level but can't find users on the lower other domains, here is the setup:I have 3 domains.

Both domains have a two way parent-child trust and I can look for users in AD Users/Computer on both domains. I initially setup the ASA to look at domain1.test.com using an LDAP aaa-server per the IDF instructions, and then proceeded to configure the ad-agent. I installed the adagent on the domain1.test.com domain controller configured the settings on that system and had no problem adding users to the firewall and getting functionality within domain1. I looked to see if I could see domain 2 and domain 3 users and found none. I went ahead and added the domain2 system to the adagent on the DC and the system says that it is up, but when I search for users is not pulling them from domain2. Instead, it shows domain1 users as domain2user1. I also configured another adserver in the ASA to search ldap on domain 2 to no avail.The cisco documentation states the following:•Before you configure even a single domain controller machine using the adacfg dc create command, ensure that the AD Agent machine is first joined to a domain (for example, domain J) that has a trust relationship with each and every domain (for example, domain D[i]) that it will monitor for user authentications (through the domain controller machines that you will be configuring on the AD Agent machine). Single Forest, Multiple Domains—All the domains in a single forest already have an inherent two-way trust relationship with each other. Thus, the AD Agent must first be joined to one of the domains, J, in this forest, with this domain J not necessarily being identical to any of the domains D[i] corresponding to the domain controller machines. Because of the inherent trust relationship between domain J and each of the domains D[i], there is no need to explicitly configure any trust relationships.Reading that it sounds like it should just work. I need to create a firewalled segment that not only separates hosts from general population, but also from each other. The reason I ask is that I recently upgraded a firewall from an ASA5505 to an ASA5520 on a small network where the only outside connectivity was a single 10meg Internet circuit with an IPSEC VPN (not landed on the firewall but on a router) to another site.
When I swapped out the firewall the users noticed a big improvement. The firewall is not doing anything out of the ordinary - no IPS or VPN, just standard state full inspection.

The ASA Firewalls 5520 are having the software release 8.4(3)8 installed.When somebody tries to connect thru the Identity based firewalls from a citrix published desktop environment (PDI) the connection is not possible. Checking the ip-of-user mapping on the firewalls (show user-identity ip-of-user USERNAME) mostly doesn't show the mapping of the USERNAME and the PDI the user is logged in. The user-of-ip mapping of the PDIs IP-address shows mostly other users, which then are used to authenticate the acces thru the firewalls.
What is interesting, that on the AD Agent using "adacfg.exe cache list | find /i "USERNAME"" i can't see the PDIs IP-address neither because it is mapped to another user.Is Citrix Published Desktop environment supported to connect thru Identity based Firewalls? How AD Agent, Domain Controllers and Firewalls are working together? On the firewalls with "show user-identity ad-agent we see, the following:
-Authentication Port: udp/1645
-Accounting Port: udp/1646
-ASA Listening Port: udp/3799
Why Cisco does use 1645 and 1646 and not 1812 and 1813?The Listening Port is used for what purpose? we tried the AD Agent modes full- download and on-demand with the same effect.
I try to launch a LAND Attack against my firewall ASA 5520. Everything will work fine. But why, I think it should not work. I use a little tool where I can user a spoofed address, with a cluster shell and attack the firewall interface with the source of 127.0.0.1 ore the ip address of the interface as the source and destination. Then I get a cpu load of 89% with only two host. With IP tables I can use kernel processes to prevent this. But I don´t find anything for ASA.

I have a serious problem with my corporate firewall, witch is an ASA 5520, fv 8.3, with 8 +1 interfaces. It suddenly started to crash every 10/20 minutes and rebooting alone.
First of all I checked system resources witch are in a very low usage state. I also checked interfaces errors, but nothing strange come out o from error counters analysis. I tried disabling logging and all the service policy rules configured, but nothing changed.
Nothing changed and firewall continue restarting by itself.
Last logs I received before crash were:

Currently there is a rule in place to allow an incoming connection on port 2222 from a specific ip address to allow access to a web app our developers created. This is a test before the web app is released live. Now the web app can communicate with the specific address and port but the incoming connection on port 2222 isn't getting through. Everything looks great in the firewall but how can I log any hits this ACL takes to identify any potential problems?

View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago, we changed our old 525 with asa 5520 ( ver 8.2 ). Configuration is the same, except the version. It even retains the same global interface and static public ip address as the old device.All worked well during that period.
Yesterday, one of the http applications , not tested other day, was found not to be working. To test, we switched back to the old 525 , however nothing was working when we did that.
I need to create a DMZ Vlan. Core switch is a 6509. FW is an ASA5520. Need to create a VLAN for DMZ purposes for outside facing servers. NAT is used on ASA.

1. Could i use two core switch 6500 with single mode fiber as a transport equipment?
2. Or i need to use SDH equipment because of the distance concern? If so do i need a repeater?Could i use Cisco Metro Core ONS, which one?
3. Any other option to achieve this requirement?
I have a 3750X four-switch stack acting as the core of a fairly simple LAN. All I need to achieve (and this seems inordinately hard, but it is entirely likely that I'm just being dense) is to get access to the internet through my core switch, through the firewall and out through my VSAT. I've spoken at some length with the firewall providers (Cyberoam) and they tell me all I need to do when I migrate onto my new system (Cyberoam is currently in place at the entrance to our existing LAN) is change the local IP address of the Firewall, plug in the new switch to the LAN port, and away I go. Tried that, didn't work, so obviously I'm missing something.

I am connecting the MPLS routers and WAAS device to my core switch(also performing inter-vlan routing) in VLAN 2. There are 3 connections needed for the mpls equipment and they are all in vlan 2 on my core switch. The firewall (ASA 5510 with security plus licensing) also has an interface (outside) in vlan 2.

I will be implementing a new firewall (cisco asa 5515x) on my existing 3750x (server switches) and my 2960s (user switches). What should I need to apply on my firewall and swtiches to make the implementation successfull. I will put my 3750x as my DMZ and my 2960s as my inside. The 3750x have multiple subnet and also the 2960s.which features and technologies i need to know on those 3 products. my 3750x and 2960s don't have any ACL defined and most common features are vlan, switchport, trunking, spanning-tree, stacking, vtp.how my asa knows that my 3750x/2960s have multiple vlans. my current connection right now on 3750x and 2960s is just through 6 ports i assigned as one trunk, below is my config [code]
my 2960s vlans are almost the same with my 3750x except vlan 160, 170, 192. but of course when i put this in asa, i have to segragate vlan for 3750x (192, 100, 110,160, 170) and 2960s (130, 150). for my 2960s connection to the asa and since this will have big bandwidth, i will use 3 ports on my asa (and trunk it) connecting to my 2960s and i will use 2 ports on my asa (and trunk it) connecting to my 3750x. the one internet ports and my one management ports on my asa will stay like that.
If I have two stackable switches one switch uplinks to one 6509 core switch and the other connection uplinks to another 6509 core switch, and also the other stackable switch does not connect to the core switches. Because I am using hsrp and also we are not using vss then one uplink to the core is not in used only ones is so then how does creating an etherchannel between does two uplinks to both core switches benefit me in anyway such as more bandwith and using both uplinks at the same time or I'm I wrong?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have an ASA5510 running version 8.25. This is in our central office in London. The London network has an ip address range of 10.110.128.0/22. Connected to this via a site-to-site VPN we have a satellite office that has an IP address range of 172.16.148.0/22.
We have now connected to our parent company via another site-to-site VPN connected to the same ASA5510. Their network has an internal range of 10.110.18.0/24. It was our parent company that issued us with our range of addresses a long while ago so that it all fits in with the rest of the company.
We have resources (web servers) on their network that we use which work just as it all should. We now want to allow our satellite office to view those same web servers. The problem is that only 10.110 addresses can flow to our parent company.
I have configured the firewall at our central office and our satellite office to route across to our parent company via our network network and the packets are flowing just fine except that obviously once they reach our firewall they cannot go to our parent company because the 172.16.148 range cannot be routed there.
My idea is to NAT traffic from our satellite office to one of our local addresses before it goes over to our parent company network.
For example: If someone in our satellite office with an IP address of 172.16.150.5 attempts to request a resource from 10.110.18.12 then the request would go via the VPN to our firewall and then get NATed to 10.110.131.200 before being passed on to our parent company network.
My question is what would the NAT configuration be to achieve this. I just cannot work out what type of NAT I would need or how to construct the command. It's probably PAT as it will be multiple addresses to a single address. Essentialy, all traffic from 172.16.148.0/22 destined for 10.110.18.0/24 should get NATed at our firewall to 10.110.131.200 before being passed on.
Just to add, we already have this working from our Cisco 3000 Concentrator which is now going to be phased out hence trying to get this to work on our ASA. The satellite office has now been moved to the ASA and as of today our parent company has been moved to the ASA.
I have some technical consultations that I would like to know which would be a better implementation.
I am seeking for clarifications whether putting VPN and firewall in a single software or separating both into separate software.
