Jan 21, 2013I say the answer is ten. That means ten hosts can be behind the firewall and hit the internet. The eleventh doesn't get to go out. I'm being told by a coworker that the "10" in the part number refers to the number of IPsec VPN peers.
Who's right?
I say if you want an unlimited number of users on the inside to be able to get to the internet, you need the ASA5505-SEC-BUN-K9

We have a 5520 and a coworker is adding static NAT policies so a vendor can monitor around 1,029 nodes. The problem is each node inside is a 10.X.X.X and to keep the IPs from overlapping with other customers the vendor monitors they would like us to NAT to a 172.16.X.X scheme.

Oct 24, 2011I have a faulty ASA5520 and I am not sure if I have a SMART net contract for it or not (I manage over 200+ ASAs). The problem is that the Serial Number sticker that is normally on the back of the ASA is missing. The ASA5520 is also faulty and doesn't power on so I cannot boot it up and run 'show ver' or similar. If I open the chassis there appears to be other Serial numbers on the Power Supply, and Motherboard etc but they do not seem to be the correct Chassis serial number i.e not in the right format, and if I put them into the Trade tool I get no results.
There must be another record of the serial numbers besides 1x sticker to the rear of the chassis that can fall off? How I can get the chassis serial when the device isn't booting. or (Cisco) is there a way to find the chassis serial number from the power or motherboard serial?

Mar 13, 2011I just configure an ASA 5520, here is the config (the ip address of outside network if going to change from private direccion by reason security).
The problem that I have is the users can access to the web site through the public´s ip address but they do not can access through by name. We review all the config on the server DNS and with the command NSLOOKUP we can see that work fine. The client think that the asa is blocked the connnection.

Jan 17, 2012I am new at ASA 5520 and CSC module (version 6.3). I would like to know what configurations are possible for my network users if i use the CSC trend micro blocking using IP address or AD users, I know that i could select users/groups from the windows AD or select the IP addresses that i want to use for blocking or permit HTTP traffic (URL, etc).
My question is on the client side, how the CSC knows what AD users is the one that is requesting certain HTTP pages, or if i user a proxy server, i lose the IP/users options on the CSC??..or i could use authentication options on the proxy for example?.
I have been looking information about this but the manuals only explain the configuration options that i could configure on the CSC Trend Micro page, but it doesn't say which network environment i could use or need.

What I'm trying to do is get VPN users off split tunneling and to filter their traffic through the IronPorts as well but I can't figure out how. When they connect they seem to bypass the Ironport completely.

Aug 15, 2011We have a ASA 5510 which was running 8.0.2, we recently upgraded it to 8.2.5 and since the upgrade remote users for exchange 2007 are not able to download any large email attachments(over or close to 1MB). This is only happening to Outlook anywhere users or OWA users who are connecting to the exchange server using https(443) externally. If the same users connects internally they do not face any issue. When i check the logs on ASA i am gettings lots of RESET-O and RESET-I entries. Looks like the connection between the client and the server gets reset.

Jul 24, 2012I've been trying to switch out our old firewall which is a 5510 for our new 5520, but we keep running into this problem on both devices with almost the exact same configs. Currently I have the 5510 installed, and I cannot get our email server and RDP server to ping out to our internet gateway.
Attached is a sanitized config. From the config you can see the internal address of the email server is 11.2.1.29, external address is 73.13.198.211. RDP server is internal address 11.2.1.33, external 73.13.198.212. Our internet gateway is 73.13.198.209.
From another computer with a 11.2.1.X address I can ping out to the internet gateway. The other two devices drop (I believe) when they hit the firewall.
