Now if I want to create DHCP pools, say pool_A and pool_B, for user A, B and C they use the IP from Pool_A, and user D, E, and F they get the IP from pool_B. Is there a way to do this in ASA?

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5505 / VPN IP Local Pool?
Jan 5, 2012We are testing the upgrade from version 8.2 to 8.4 on an ASA 5505 and ran into a problem. For VPN connections we had pools created. A few of the pools were limited to a single IP address. After the upgrade the ASA rejects the pools that only had one IP address instead of a range. In the command line if you enter a question mark after typing in "ip local pool (pool keyword)" in config mode it says "Specify an IP address or a range of IP addresses:start[-end]" with the word "or" it sounds like it should except a single IP address but it doesn't. The error is "Please enter a valid IP address range."

Feb 13, 2012We have a cisco asa 5505 on which we have setup a group VPN. The VPN connections from all cisco vpn clients works fine except one. The keep getting the below error
"Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding. Connection Terminated".
Not sure why only one client won't be able to connect. The version we are using is 5.0.02 for VPN client.
Cisco Firewall :: 5505 - VPN Client Is Not Set To Auto Reconnect
May 6, 2013I am working with a small off that has a 5505 acting as a basic firewall. Behind it are off-the-shelf unmanaged switches. Two users have to work with an outside vendor and are having issues. They have a Sonicwall remote VPN client on each of their desktops and use this to connect to the vendor. They then RDP into VMWare-based Windows 7 desktops at the vendor's site to do their work. Randomly throughout the day (6-10 times per day) while they are actively working the RDP session will disconnect. It will auto-reconnect after a few seconds. The VPN log on the clients never show any issues. I believe this is an RDP problem because while the RDP session is disconnecting, their VPN client is not (it is set to NOT auto-reconnect if it gets disconnected so that I will know for sure if it gets disconnected). I don't see anything in the ASA's logs about denying connections involving their PCs and the remote VPN peer IP.

Jul 10, 2012We have a scenario where the Cisco ASA 5505 will be one end of a site-to-site VPN. The same ASA 5505 also allows Client VPN connection. The question is around IP pooling. If I assign a pool of IP's (192.168.1.20 - 192.168.1.30) for Client VPN connections - do I need to be sure that those same IP's are not used on the other side of site-to-site VPN ?
There could be PC's/Servers running 192.168.1.0/24 on the other side of site-to-site VPN. Would this cause an address conflict ?

Jul 17, 2012I am using a range of IPs from my inside LAN for my IPSec VPN clients. For example my inside network is 172.16.1.0/24 and I have a pool setup like this: ip local pool vpnpool 172.16.1.200-172.16.1.210 mask 255.255.255.0.
Before the upgrade to 8.4 it was working and now it isn't. Clients can connect and pickup and IP but can't cominuicate with the inside LAN. I think I have to do manual NAT to nonat this range. So I want to try the following:
object network obj-vpnpool range 172.16.1.200 172.16.1.210 nat (inside,outside) 1 source static any any destination static obj-vpnpool obj-vpnpool
However there are two things preventing me from doing this:
1) When I try to create obj-vpnpool I get an error stating that this object overlaps with local pool
2) Even if I create the obj-vpnpool with a non-overlapping range, when in the VPN config I don't have an option for selecting obj-vpnpool.

The other two I'm going to use for the following: I'm going to deploy a server in internal network which must have 2 external ips on his network interface (& one internal ip on the second,but that's ok: I cannot put an extra network switch before asa & plug this server there: this server is virtual & is on esxi host in internal network. External ips must be assigned to servers' interfacw,bot just forwarded there (ms direct access requirement).

Mar 20, 2012i have a question about tunneling a software EasyVPN client to a client ASA Network. It looks like this:
EasyVPN Server 192.168.202.0/24 Network extension mode to Client EasyVPN ASA 192.168.1.0/24 This works fine in both directions. But now i want to connect the client ASA network via EasyVPN software client from outside. The user are already able to connect to the ASA Server on its static outside IP obtaining an IP from a 192.168.21.0/24 pool. This works fine. But how am i able to connect to the 192.168.1.0/24 network from this client?

Dec 2, 2010I'm currently replacing my ASA 5505 with a 5510. I have a range of public IP addresses, one has been assigned to the outside interface by the setup wizard (e.g. 123.123.123.124 ) and another I would like to NAT to an internal server (e.g 192.168.0.3 > 123.123.123.125). On my asa 5505 this seemed fairly straigh forward, i.e. create an incoming access rule that allowed SMTP to 123.123.123.125 and then create a static nat to translate 192.168.0.3 to 123.123.123.125. Since I've tried to do the same on the 5510 traffic is not passing through so I'm assuming that the use of additional public IP addresses is not handled in the same way as the 5505? I also see that by default on the 5505, 2 VLANs are created, one for the inside and one for the outside, where as this is not the case on the 5510. Is the problem that VLANs or sub-interfaces need to be created first? I'm doing the config via ASDM.
Everything else seems to OK i.e. access to ASDM via 123.123.123.124, outbound PAT and the site-to-site VPN.

May 6, 2011I have a PIX 515E that I want to use to as a border between my internet connection and my Cisco AIR1131AG. I have configured the PIX to have the outside interface as a dhcp client which gets its dynamic IP address from the cable modem. the AP is connected to the E1 inside interface. Now I could see the E1 interface from the arp table from the AP but I cannot ping it. From the firewall I don't see the ARP table from the firewall. and i cannot ping the AP. what is wrong with the configuration? side note, i am able to connect to the AIR1131AG from my laptop I was not able to retrieve an IP address.

They want to VPN in with their Win7 laptop, but they don't want to shell out $1000 for the 10-pack Cisco VPN client.I have successfully setup the clientless VPN, and they can, through a browser, get to their files, but they'd like to map network drives so it's just like they're in the office.I tried setting the IP Sec up on the 5505, and then using the built-in Win7 VPN network connection, but no go.I also do everything through the ASDM, but I realize some things cannot be done. I'd prefer to use the ASDM!Anyone else get this configured? 99% of what I see out here is how to connect the 5505 for site-to-site VPN.

May 13, 2012We recently upgraded our 5505s to 8.2(5) 26 and noticed that each will crash after a cerntain amount of time. Some crash every 30 minutes other will crash every 4 to 8 hrs. The only difference would be the user's home ISP and/or home router, if they have one. They are configured with a dynamic dhcp IP address for the outside interface and the crash files starts with the following:When we downgrade back to 8.2(5) 13 the problem goes away. Any known bugs for this version? I haven't been able to find anything yet. We do have one 5505 that does not have this issues. The only thing that may be different is that it was never at 8.2(5) 13. We had downgrade it from a 8.3 version.
