Cisco :: RFC 791 Widely-used Version Of Internet Protocol

Mar 22, 2011

The IP defined in RFC 791 was the first widely-used version of the Internet Protocol. Interestingly, however, it is not version 1 of IP but version 4! This would of course imply that there were earlier versions of the protocol at one point. Interestingly, however, there really weren't. As I mentioned above, IP was created when its functions were split out from an early version of TCP that combined both TCP and IP functions. TCP evolved through three earlier versions, and was split into TCP and IP for version 4. That version number was applied to both TCP and IP for consistency.url... what i wanna know s in tat underlined line its given 3 versions of TCP what r they?

Can't Connect To Internet - Make Sure Protocol Bindings Are Correct?

Sep 6, 2011

When I try and connect to the Internet, it doesn't connect. Windows Network Diagnostics give me this message:"There might be a problem with one or more network adapters on this computer- The network adapter "Realtek RTL8102E/8103E Family PCI-E FE NIC" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues- Make sure your Internet Protocol Bindings are correct. Also, I took a look at my Device Manager and there seems to be a problem with almost every one of them.

Linksys Wired Router :: GRE Internet Protocol 47 Not Getting Through RVS4000

Jun 23, 2011

I have a PPTP VPN server (WIndows 2008 R2) sitting behind an RVS4000, I have port forwarding for 1732 on and the client's (Windows 7) can reach the VPN server but cannot complete the connection due to an 806 error, which is GRE traffic related. I have PPTP passthrough on and have also created a ACL entry for PPTP traffic. I've seen many posts on this topic over several years with no solutions, and I do have the latest firmware (Version:V1.3.3.5). This is also definetely router related as I have absolutley no problem connecting when I point directly to the VPN server by internal IP address.

I bought a 7" netbook with Windows CE Version 6.00 (build 3122). I can't figure out how to connect to the internet. The instruction manual says to click on the wireless icon, which brings up a window that, in the picture in the manual has three tabs, the third being "wireless information", but on my netbook that window only has two tabs. The "wireless information" tab isn't there and that's what I'm supposed to go to to connect to the internet. What do I do?

Cisco :: Upgrading WCS Version 7.0.172.0 To WLC Version 7.0.230.0?

Mar 13, 2012

We are looking to upgrade our WiSMs to version 7.0.230.0, but the Cisco compatibility matrix suggests we need to upgrade WCS to the same version (it is currently on 7.0.172.0). My question is can we upgrade the WiSMs and do the WCS at a later date with no issues or do we need to do them at the same time to keep visibility of everything?

The reason I ask is that some of my clients use lobby ambassador for some of their users and they will need wireless access on the day we are due to upgrade WCS (the WiSMs are due to be upgraded and rebooted earlier that morning.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Version B Running Stock 2.0 Firmware - Cannot Connect To Internet

Aug 17, 2012

I have a DIR-655 Version B running the stock 2.0 firmware and a Motorola SB6120 cable modem and my ISP is comcast. I have had comcast come out and test my line and everything is fine. I have a desktop directly wired to the internet and several portable devices accessing the router.I cannot connect to the internet. My network is available and none of my devices ever indicate the network isn't available. When I try to load a website it just says "waiting for reply..." and nothing happens. The solution that always works is rebooting both the modem and the router. What is odd is that this problem comes and goes, I will go a week with zero issues, then I go all week with rebooting my stuff 5-8 times a day..What have I tried? I tried the settings that are recommended by Furrynuts to users complaining. I have also tried changing the wireless band settings to different channels as well.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Version 6.0 Can't Connect To Internet

Mar 13, 2013

I cannot connect to the internet via the wireless network from my router. Currently, I can connect to the wireless network, however I cannot access the internet, but I am able to access the internet with an Ethernet cable in the same router. This is a fairly recent development as we have used this router for wireless internet access (our modem has a wireless network built into it, but it is unreliable) for upwards of 8 months now without problem. One day it simple restored itself to the default name and we were no longer able to access the internet through the wireless portion.

Cisco :: FastEthernet0/0 Is Up / Line Protocol Is Down

Jan 26, 2013

I was working on a problem the other day and came across something that I had seen before but never given much thought. I had a router with a switch connected to it and the interface was showing as Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is down. The problem in the end turned out to be a cable that had fell out because it was not connected correctly, but I was able to replicate this interface status on a router (FastEthernet0/0 is up, line protocol is down), and NO cable was attached to the interface.I've had a look on the internet but cant seem to find a good answer, so does anybody else know why this status is shown on the router? Remember, NO cable is connected to the interface so it isn't a speed or duplex problem

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS SE 4.2 RADIUS Protocol

Mar 28, 2013

I am using the Self RADIUS server in my Cisco ACS SE 4.2 appliance S. I have an AAA client C that interacts with S by means of the RADIUS protocol. This works fine, in that S correctly carries out authentication chores on username/password (PAP and CHAP) pairs received from C, sending back to C the corresponding Access-Accept packet when the authentication succeeds, or Access-Reject when it doesn't.

I have been able to import a set of three VSAs into S. Each of those attributes is of string type. I then configured in S a single user U with password P so that, whenever a U/P pair received in S from C is authenticated by S, S should send back to C, in the Access-Accept packet, the three attributes with the following values: [code]

With this setup, when an authentication is successfully completed by S, C receives 53 bytes worth of data from S every time. I am attaching a typical example, already disassembled. I have disguised the actual vendor ID, for legal reasons, but the rest is exactly as it was when received in C.

According to the disassembly, what we got is an Access-Accept packet, as expected. Its length is 53 bytes - again as expected, for this is the only packet that C has received from S here. However, the packet is incomplete, for attribute #3 is missing its value field.

Looking into the whole packet in more detail, it can be seen that while the wire format for the first attribute, namely, Frame-IP-Address, is correctly constructed, the remaining are not. For example, the sequence of bytes corresponding to the attribute #1 reads 1a 09 00 00 xx xx 2c 61 62 63. I believe that this is incorrect; it should be 1a 0a 00 00 xx xx 2c 61 62 63, for the wire format for this attribute consists of 10, not 9, bytes. I tried a few variations on the values for the attributes, and the results are always substantially the same, in that the wire formats for these attributes are always incorrect.

This all probably implies I have done something wrong when importing the VSAs into S, and/or when configuring things on S. I am therefore attaching the csv files I used to import my VSAs into S; as before, names and vendor ID are disguised, but their lengths are exactly the same as in the undisguised file. I used two csv files: One to import the vendor ID, and the other to import the VSAs under that vendor ID. As for user U, in S's administration GUI I clicked on User Setup and selected user U, moved to the bottom of the screen, where the attributes for this particular vendor were present, introduced the values for each attribute mentioned above, and made sure that button in front of each attribute was ticked.
