We have several RV042 routers with older firmware version 1.3.12.19-tm.We have purchased new RV042 routers as hot spare replacement that's coming with firmware version 4.1 installed.
We have a VPN tunnels between multiple sites using the older firmware version.
My question is: Will a RV042 with firmware version 4.1 connect to a RV042 with firmware version 1.3.12.19-tm and vice versa?

It still allows incoming vpn connections. The login screen displays and will display an error message if I use incorrect credentials, but if I log in properly and am directed to the routers web config homepage at "192.168.1.1/default.htm", I get a 404 error message. i got the RV042 and want to update the fw to 4.04.xx . After a few minutes, the browser wanted to perform the update again. I agreed and now, the webinterface isnt available and i cant get a IP from the router. So I tried to reset the router twice. After no success, I performed a factory-reset, which should work when I pressed the reset-button at least for 30 sec.Now the DIAG-LED blinks in a ~5sec rythm.What can I do?

After upgrading the firmware on my RV042 router to version 1.3.13.02-tm, I am experiencing very slow Internet response on most sites. In some instances, when the page does load, it lacks many graphics. Frequently, I also receive a "server not found"error. In all cases, reloading the page (once it has loaded) results in a complete page display. This is occuring on two MacBook Pros and also on an iPad. The router is a version 1, so no further upgrades are available. I contacted support, but since it is out of warranty, they are unwilling to assist. Prior to the upgrade, everything worked fine, as it has for 5 years.

I now cannot login into the router using my user name and password (nor the old admin/admin). The router is functioning, but I fear it will eventually fail. How can I recover ability to log in? I was using dd-wrt to fix a problem that my router was having (I wasn't able host some online games when router QOS is enabled). However, i can't couldn't take that crappy firmware anymore (its web gui was way to slow, painfully slow actually and it crashed alot) and will never use it again in life. I was finally able to get back to the default linksys firmware but now I have the same previous problem. I am now using the latest firmware "Firmware Version v1.02.8' for my WRT54g v6. I never backed up up the previous firmware for this router before i upgraded to v1.02.8 so any link to a previous version or the first version of firmware for this router that will be great. I've been look all around the internet and I can't find it, from searching around i found out that linksys hand an ftp archive of firmwares but it stopped working around 2010. So, where i can get at older version, or even a third party firmware OTHER THAN DD-WRT that works with the WRT54g v6 router.
I don't even know if the older firmware would fix this problem, but I dont want to have to be disabling QOS every time i want to play this game because the people in my house will hog the bandwidth and i will get lag, but its worth a shot.

I have some legacy (read: old) audio equipment that used leased lines to run, no way to convert them to IP internally. They have x.21 and v.35 interfaces on them.
Is there a way i could use something like an old 2600 series router and run it in reverse, like just using them as a media converter to shove the v.35 over into IP land?

I have an old Cabletron switch i have used for about 8-10 years, it has some vlans set up and i was wondering how i can "talk" to the switch and set it up. I am using this switch in my home on my vast network. is it possible to "reset to factory" or anything without a serial cable? I would like to use snmp of telnet to configure but i dont think it has an ip set up and it is such an old switch I cannot find any info from entrasys.

The problem I have is in configuring the old router. It won't allow me to change any settings, or at least the changes don't stick, even after clicking "apply changes". 1-DSL Modem (WAN1-Internet Port)
2-Cable Modem-Comcast (WAN2-DMZ/Internet Port)
I connected the DSL (WAN1-Internet) port in and the Cisco RV042 was able to get an IP automatically. I tested the connection and it works just fine. Then I connect the Cable Modem-Comcast (WAN2-DMZ/Internet Port) in and I have the RV042 automatically optain IP address. But it just says 0.0.0.0. I've tried release/renew and that does nothing. Also, when I connect the 2nd Internet connection the Internet goes down. The only way it goes back up is when I disable under the PORT MANAGMENT setting.
All the settings have been kept to the default.How can I get the router to obtain an IP address from the Cable Modem-Comcast (WAN2 DMZ/Internet Port).
We have an Cisco RV042. We need to setup a VPN with a business partner who is already using our current IP scheme on another VPN with another client. They have asked us to NAT our IP's from 192.168.25.x to 192.168.245.x
I can't seem to figure this out on this router. I have done it on a Sonicwall and Watchguard, but can't seem to get it to work on the RV042.
I have setup the VPN and the One-To-One NAT. The tunnel will connect (using the 245.x IP as our local IP on the VPN setup), but no traffic will pass through.
i was planed to make a vpn over rv042 so i get the rv042 connected behind a thosmon 456(configured as a bridge) and 1 static ip ... and i configured the vpn and worked great ...but due to some circumstance i get a package of 6 ips insted of the old ip , so when i try to configure the router with the ISP they but the wan ip 10.232.x.x and told me that an internal ip from there lan ... and give me the 6 ip of 196.x.x.x to use as 1 for internal interface for the rv042 and 5 for the pc's,now the vpn not working anymore...notice: when try to configure the vpn tunnle in the local securty setting i mark the ip only and the ip that abear is the wan ip 10.232.x.x but i can't ping that ip beside i can ping the internal ip of the router 196.x.x.50does rv042 can support static and virtual ip inside the lan |! can i configure the thomson as pppoe and use one static ip from 196.x.x.x as wan ip for it ... and use anther 196.x.x.x ip for the rv042 to get access from outside and connect the lan to the rv042 with internal ip 192.168.x.x ...so i can access the vpn from outside .....and can connect the device i need to use static ip to the thomson ...
